Chapter 37

"Caleb, you better not be fucking joking at a moment like this or I might physically harm you."

"Tell me you are joking!"

"Hanna trust me, I would never leave you and Parker if it wasn't something I had to do. My job pays the bills and provides us with health care and when they call and tell you that you have mandatory training in Russia, you have to go." Caleb quickly squatted down to avoid the picture frame his Fiancé had grabbed off the shelf and threw across the room at him. Hanna was more than pissed. She was livid.

Barely missing the glass frame, Caleb muttered, "What the fuck Hanna?" as shards of glass went flying by the nearest wall.

"Did you even say anything to your boss? Like, hey I have a one year old and an extremely pregnant fiancé that I kind of need to stay in California for? Did you even try at all? Because it doesn't sound like you did." Hanna yelled as her cheeks became flush and her hands started to shake.

"You have to believe me Hanna, I talked to my boss for like two hours. She told me that all the developers on my team were called to train the remote developers in Moscow on the new programs we had came up with. She told me that she would get me back here to my family as quickly as she could. This is a big deal Hanna. I'm getting a huge raise for this." Caleb stated calmly trying to soothe Hanna's fear's even though his were about as big as hers.

"Why can't they wait.."

"Because Hanna, would you rather me do this now when you are pregnant or later when we will have a toddler and a newborn?" the twenty year old blinked hard realizing that both of the options sucked but this one was at least a little less shitty.

"You said you leave next week, how long will you be gone for?" she replied slowly.

Caleb was a little terrified after Hanna's reaction to leaving the country so he stalled for as long as he could.

"Damn it Caleb, how long?"

"Two."

"Weeks?"

"Months."

Hanna stood in the doorway for a minute before she threw her arms in the air and left to their bedroom, slamming the door behind her. Parker started crying from her room. Caleb knew he was in the dog house so he texted Toby and asked if he would go on a drive for to clear his head. About fifteen minutes later Caleb pulled into the Cavanaugh's driveway and Toby hopped in the passengers seat.

"Shhhhhh." Caleb motioned to the sleeping toddler in the backseat.

"So I am just going to assume here, Hanna didn't take the news great, did she?" Toby questioned as Caleb hit the gas.

"Dude, she threw a picture frame at me." He rolled his eyes as he laughed a little. "I mean I get it, it is super shitty for me to leave right now, but I really don't have a choice."

"I'm sorry man. That's rough, did she get you?" Toby chuckled at Caleb's unfortunate situation.

"No. I'm fine. How did Spencer react?"

"I feel a little guilty for telling you this, I mean she made a little sad face." Toby tried to tell Caleb pretty much that Spencer was cool with it.

"Shit, how am I going to get out of this one?" Caleb looked over at his friend who currently had a puzzled expression on his face as you could tell his wheels were turning.

"Girls like to talk about shit. Like every feeling they have ever had. You should buy her like twelve bags of chocolate and let her talk all night. And watching The Notebook probably wouldn't hurt either. Maybe even cry a little." Toby smiled as Caleb grabbed his shoulder, "No wonder Spencer is never mad at you. You are like a fucking chick." Caleb ran into the drug store before dropping off Toby and quietly placing his daughter back in her crib.

He took a deep breath and then entered his room in which he shared with his future wife. Hanna was laying in bed with her belly slumped to the side. She didn't turn over as he entered the door just mumbled, "Don't think you are sleeping in here tonight for a fucking minute. In fact, sleep on the couch until you leave." A cold hostile tone filled the room.

"Hanna, can we talk for a minute?"

"No."

"Ok, First off, I'm really, really sorry that I won't be able to be here. I want to be here. I would quit my job and stay home if I didn't think that this company would take our family to better places. Even if it means you will be mad at me for a little while, I am willing to whatever it takes to provide a good life for you and our kids." Caleb got a little choked up as tears started streaming down Hanna's face. "Listen Babe, I promise we will FaceTime every single day. I know my mom and your parents are willing to help with you and Parker. I can even arrange that you two stay with one of them while I am gone. I can start putting baby stuff together before I leave and I will bring all of my 'dad books' with me and read up while I have some free time."

Hanna pressed her head into Caleb's chest as she cried for a few more moments.

"What if I have this one early too?" she sighed as a few more tears fell.

"Don't think like that. Doctor Miller said that every pregnancy is different and just because Parker came early, doesn't necessarily mean this one will. Everything is always what it is suppose to be at your appointments."

"Everything was fine at all of Parker's appointments too and she was still early. What if something goes wrong and you are not here?" Hanna questioned her dark haired fiancé.

"I will hop on the next flight, and if that takes too long, I swim the freaking ocean." He smirked as Hanna gave him a weak smile.

"If you get to go to Russia by yourself for two months, then I get to go somewhere by myself for at least a full week after I have this baby. But somewhere warm, with cabana boys." She smiled as Caleb held her in his arms.

"Deal."

"What did you get?" Hanna questioned at the plastic bag that was thrown on the night stand.

"Chocolate and the Notebook."
