Chapter 35-The New Neverland
Morgan's POV
"Isn't it a little late to be out here?", I hear Emma say as she sits down next to me.
"How did you know I'd be here?", I ask, not bothering to face her.
"I know that trick you pulled, Henry even know it". Henry…the reason why I climbed out of the bathroom window. There was just this gut feeling I had that told me that something about him didn't feel right. When Emma had left the two of us alone, he had asked me some strange questions, most of them about Pan and Neverland, and he had this look in his eyes that seemed possessive.
"How did you find me? If you didn't realize it already, I came here to be alone".
"I figured it out, you know, you aren't that different from Henry".
"Ok…whatever".
"Look, I get where you're coming from, but you can't solve anything by running away. Especially in a town this small".
"If I was trying to run away, I'd be outside the town border by now", I respond, looking at the dark blue water in the distance".
"I know that it's a lot to take in, but trying to ignore everyone else isn't going to help".
"Then what is? I don't belong here, or anywhere. Why bother pretending to be something that I'm not. I've been through enough to realize when I'm the outcast. You've known Henry for the past two years, I just met you".
"You're right, I have just met you. But give me a chance. I know I haven't been the best mother to you, but I can't take back what happened fifteen years ago. But I can help you feel part of a family. Just give me the chance to make it up to you".
"You've got one shot. You screw up and I leave. Forever".
Peter Pan's POV
I look around Henry's pretty useless room, all he has are comic books, like that's gonna help me. Where the fuck was the Evil Queen's vault! I need to find it in order to execute my plan.
"Lights out, young man", Regina says, coming into the room.
"Mom. Your vault. Did you bring that over with you?", I reply.
"Yes, Henry, you know that".
"With all your magic?"
"Why are you asking all these questions?"
"Because I might need that stuff to protect me and Morgan I from Pan", I say when I realize Regina was sounding suspicious of me.
"Oh, honey, he can't hurt you. He's locked up in Gold's shop", she replies.
"But what if he gets out? What if... he finds a way to come after me? Or Morgan?"
"Magic isn't the answer. My vault is sealed shut for a reason. It's dangerous. I'll protect you. No matter what. Now, it's time for you to go bed. Goodnight", Regina says, tucking me in, which was really uncomfortable.
As soon as she exits the room and turn off the lights, I jump out of bed and go to the window. I then move the curtains aside and open the window.
"She's wrong. Magic is the answer. It's time", I say to myself and release my shadow from the sail on the Jolly Roger.
Emma's POV
"Isn't Granny's that way?", David asks me, coming up behind me then sitting next to me as I look out into the distance.
"Did Neal send you?", I ask.
"No, he has no idea I am here, but when I saw him sitting in that table alone, I wanted to make sure you were okay. Are you?"
"Yeah, I'm fine"
"Emma".
"It's not Neal, it's the twins. Henry doesn't seem like himself. He barely recognized his storybook last night. And then Morgan ran off last night. I was spent two hours looking for her".
"They went through a lot in Neverland. And Morgan will come around, she's spent the past two months running from lost boys, I bet she just isn't in the habit of sitting still yet.
"I know. And Henry asked to spend the night at Regina's".
"Well, she did help us save him and she did raise him until you came into his life".
"I know she did".
"Look, he probably wants to stay with you tonight. I probably wouldn't worry about it. We're all recovering".
"I know. I just can't shake the feeling something bad is still going to happen and I need to do everything I can to stop it".
"Emma, you can't think like that".
"But bad things do keep happening".
"So do good things. But if you think like that, you'll miss out. There's more to life than living for the next fight. You know, you gotta look for the moments".
"Moments?"
"Yes, life is made up of moments. Good ones, bad ones, but they're all worth living".
"Well, I seem to be a magnet for the bad ones".
"Well, all the more reason to look for the good moments in between the bad ones".
"And you think having lunch with Neal is a good moment?"
"I don't know. Does he eat with his mouth open?"
"I'm not sure I'm ready".
"Well, you can start by finding out. Come on, I'll give you a lift to Granny's", David says. We then begin to walk to David's truck.
"Sure you don't have other reasons for pushing me toward Neal?", I ask him.
"Like what?"
"I don't know, like, keeping me away from Hook?"
"You think I'm interested in Hook? Emma, I'm a married man", David replies. We laugh at this.
Peter Pan's POV
"What the hell happened?", Regina asks when we arrive at the convent to see Emma covering up the Blue Fairy's body. Snow, Charming, Baelfire, Hook, Tinkerbelle, and Morgan were also here. Of course, Morgan was standing away from the rest of them.
"The Shadow. It killed her", Charming explains.
"Pan's shadow? I trapped it on the sail", Regina says.
"Yeah, well, it got free", Emma tells her.
"Guess it wasn't trapped very good", Morgan mumbles. I smirk, as soon as this is all over and I'm in my own body again she will be mine.
"Look, let's go back to the ship and get the candle. If it strikes again, we need to be able to capture it", Baelfire says. He then leaves with Hook and Tinkerbelle following him.
"Pan's behind this, I know it", Emma says.
"He's trapped in a box under the floor of Gold's shop", Regina replies.
"Who else would be doing this?"
"So, Pan can still hurt me", I say, pretending to be scared.
"We don't know that", Regina states.
"We have to assume he's still a threat", Snow says.
"And that he's after the twins", Emma adds.
"Then what are we doing here?", I ask them, continuing my little scared act.
"He's right. They're not safe out in the open", Charming replies.
"You'll protect us, right?", I ask Regina.
"Yes, of course", Regina replies.
"Yes because being babysat by the Evil Queen definitely makes me feel safe", Morgan says sarcastically.
"Morgan, just listen to us, we're…", Emma starts.
"I get it. You're 'just trying to help'. Save your breath, I don't want to hear this lecture AGAIN", Morgan says, cutting off Emma. She then turns on her heal and walks with me and Regina towards her vault.
Morgan's POV
Regina, Henry, and I went to her magic vault, which was located under her family tomb. I gotta say, it was strangely large for that small of a building.
"Promise you won't touch anything?", Regina asks us.
"I promise", Henry replies. I don't know if I'm paranoid or something, because of spending the past two months on Neverland with Peter Pan and his lost boys, but something was definitely different about Henry, his tone almost seemed darker.
"Whatever", I reply, trying to stop thinking about Neverland.
Third Person's POV
"No, I'm afraid we're closed. Whatever crisis you're dealing with, I'm done for the day", Gold says as Emma, David, and Mary Margaret rush up to him as he and Belle were exiting his pawn shop.
"Rumple", Belle scolds.
"Pandora's Box. Give it to me", Emma demands.
"Why would I do that?", Gold asks
"We need to open it".
"And let Pan escape? What are you—crazy?"
"Somehow he's controlling the Shadow from inside the box. Morgan and Henry's lives are in danger", Mary Margaret responds.
"And you think letting Pan out will change that?", Gold asks
"Yes. Because we can stop finally and forever", Emma replies.
"All due respect, Miss Swan, we barely succeeded in apprehending him the first time. If I've learned one thing, it's not to tempt fate".
"I am not looking to apprehend him. Wouldn't you rather be sure he's gone?"
"Well, what do you have in mind?"
Emma's POV
Belle, David, Mary Margaret, Mr. Gold, and I step out of the vehicles near the town line.
"There's no magic beyond the town line. If we release Pan outside Storybrooke, he'll be powerless to fight back", Gold says, then attempts to cross the border with Pandora's Box.
"Uh-uh. I'm doing this", I say stopping him.
"I can cross the line and retain my memory".
"It's not about that. There's no magic over there. All due respect, the real world is my expertise. I'm gonna deal with Pan on my terms", I reply, I then take out my gun and step over the border.
"He is my old friend".
"It's my hunch. If I fail, you're more than welcome to pick up the pieces".
"Emma, be careful", Mary Margaret tells me.
Gold unseals the box and places it over the town line as Pan is released out. I aim my gun at him as he stands up with a dazed look. He turns around to face me.
"Mom?", Pan says.
"What?", I ask, utterly confused.
"What are you waiting for? Shoot him", Gold commands.
"Don't. Please. I'm Henry. Pan... he switched our bodies", Pan tells us.
"You expect me to believe that?", I ask Pan.
"Don't listen to him. This is one of his tricks", Gold says.
"No, it's not. He did it right before Mr. Gold captured me in the box, I swear", Pan insists.
"Don't come any closer", I say when Pan takes a step towards me.
"Shoot him!", Gold yells.
"Maybe he's telling the truth. Maybe that's why I can't shake this feeling something is off about Henry".
"Maybe that's what he wants you to believe. If he steps over this line, we're all dead".
"All right, if you are really Henry, prove it. Tell me something only Henry would know".
"I-I got trapped in the mines. I tried blowing up the well. I like hot cocoa with cinnamon", Pan, or Henry says, right now I'm not that sure.
"This proves nothing", Gold states.
"He's right, Emma. Henry could've told Pan all this in Neverland", Mary Margaret adds.
"Pan might know facts, but life is made up more than that—there are moments. He can't possibly know all of them. The first time you and I connected—you remember that? Not met, but connected", I say to whoever is in Pan's body, hopefully if my hunch is right, it will be Henry.
"Yeah", he replies.
"Where was it?"
"My castle. Right after you came to Storybrooke".
"And what did you tell me?"
"That I knew why you gave me up".
"Why?"
"Because you wanted to give me my best chance". I then lower and tuck my gun away.
"Henry", I say.
"Mom", Henry, in Pan's body, says. We then hug each other.
"Promise me that you're not going to incinerate us when we step over the line", I ask Gold. When he shakes his head, me and Henry walk over the town border together.
"I'm sorry I doubted you, Henry. And I'm sorry I put you in this box in the first place", Gold tells Henry.
"It's okay. I would have done the same thing", Henry replies.
"If he's all the way out here, where's Pan?", David asks.
"Morgan, Regina. They're in trouble", Mary Margaret says.
Morgan's POV
"What is it?", Regina asks Henry when he is staring at her.
"I was just thinking how lucky I am to have you protecting us here", Henry replies.
"Oh, Henry. When all this is over, I promise I'm finally going to be the mother you always wanted me to be. I love you", Regina says. When she goes to hug him, Henry opens a bottle, knocking her unconscious.
"I know. That's why this was so easy", Henry tells her unconscious body.
"You're not Henry", I state.
"Right you are laddie", "Henry" says.
"Then who…Pan?!", I ask, realizing midway through my sentence who was masquerading as Henry.
"Why do you seem so surprised?"
"When I last saw you, Rumplestiltskin sucked you up in Pandora's Box".
"Actually that was Henry".
"No duh".
"Miss me love?"
"In your dreams".
"I know I'm in your dreams love".
"Why did you release your shadow?"
"Because if I want something, I will get it". I notice a scroll in his pocket.
"Well you've got your piece of paper, shouldn't you be on your way?"
"There's still one thing missing".
"And what would that be?"
"You".
Charming's POV
"Regina's still not answering", Emma tells everyone as she hits Regina's voicemail yet again.
"When we find Pan, remember he's still in my body. So if you have to throw fire or something, at least avoid the face", Henry tells Gold.
"I'll do my best", Gold responds.
"Did you find the Shadow?", David asks Neal, Tink, and Hook.
"Not yet", Tink responds.
"Well, we'll be ready for him when we do", Hook adds, holding up the coconut halves.
"I think it's Pan we should be concerned about now. Why are we still up here?", Gold says.
"It's locked up tight", Neal replies in reference to Regina's crypt.
"Really? Gold tries out magic on the vault, which doesn't work.
"Told you".
"Fair enough. This is going to take some time". Gold begins working to break open the vault with magic.
Emma's POV
Mary Margaret, David, Gold, and I cautiously walk downstairs of Regina's crypt, after Gold had managed to open the door, and had noticed an unconscious Regina lying on the floor.
"Regina!", Mary Margaret exclaims.
"Pan's gone, and so is Morgan", David states.
"We're clear down here!", I yell to everyone upstairs.
Mr. Gold lifts the enchantment on Regina and she wakes up.
"What? What happened?", she asks as she gets up.
"It's Henry. Somehow Pan switched bodies with him", I reply.
"And I fell for it".
"We all did", Mary Margaret says.
"I wanted to believe what he was saying so badly I missed all the signs. I just wanted to believe he still needed me to be his mother".
"I still do", Henry says, appearing behind us.
"Henry?", Regina asks. Henry then hugs her.
"So what exactly did Pan come down here to get?", David asks.
"Or why he took Morgan?", Mary Margaret adds.
"The reason he took Morgan is probably due to a personal level. But the real issue is what Pan took that belongs here", Gold answers.
"What is it? What did Pan take?", I ask.
Peter Pan's POV
"A curse?", Felix asks me as I unroll the scroll.
"No, Felix, the curse. The curse that tore everyone from the Enchanted Forest and dropped them here", I reply.
"You broke me out of jail to tell me how everyone got to this town?", Felix asks incredulously.
"I broke you out 'cause this spell is gonna give us everything we always wanted, and more", I tell him, glancing at Morgan's tied up unconscious body.
Emma's POV
"Why would Pan even want the curse? I already cast it", Regina asks.
"And I broke it", I add.
"Well, that doesn't mean you can't cast it again. And this time, without your parents' true love woven in, even you would be powerless to break it", Gold responds.
"I don't understand. We're already in this land", David says.
"What exactly would casting the curse in Storybrooke do now?", Mary Margaret asks.
Peter Pan's POV
"Everyone will forget who they are. Time will stand still. And Felix, we will be in charge" I tell Felix.
"This whole place?", Felix asks
"Yes, and when we're done with it, it's going to be the new Neverland. And Morgan will be mine".
