A\N: It took me about four versions of the start of this chapter to finally get it the way I had it in my brainstorming web. I think though that this chapter does it justice and lays the foundation for the remaining chapters. I'm already brainstorming the sequel so you can look for foreshadowing clues in the upcoming chapters. Anyways I just want to thank you all for reading this story and I really hope you all like this chapter. Please remember to review if you do, or even if you don't as I'm always up for constructive criticism.

Chapter 35
In less then five weeks the one room open concept layout and separate powder room had turned into a two bedroom and one bathroom mini apartment. The bigger of the two rooms had been painted a very light pink and beige colour and it would serve as Eva's new bedroom. The second bedroom, a smaller room was going to be Diego's study room. It was just big enough for a desk and a place for him to keep all of his science experiments away from his younger sisters.
In the bathroom a shower was added and it was re-painted a light blue. The main part of the room, now smaller due to the added rooms consisted of a small double couch, a TV with DVD player and X-Box.
The furniture had been moved in and Eva was going to sleep in her new room tonight. And in the next month or so Antonio would start on the nursery, as Laura's due date was late December.
Crashing on the couch Antonio turned towards Matt and offered a tired smile, "Thanks Man."
"Don't mention it. What is it your mother always says?
"Familia se ayuda entre sí. No hay quetions pidieron." Antonio finished off smiling, "Yeah I know but still with everything going on with Violet. How's that going anyways?"
"It's good. There are about one hundred pages of forums Gabby and I need to fill out before the next appointment with the lawyer in three weeks, it'll be crazy getting those forums filled out but it's worth it."
"Yeah," Antonio breathed out.
"So, how're things going with Laura and everything?" Matt asked.
"It's okay," He rubbed his forehead, "But I honestly forgot how moody and honestly moody pregnant woman can be."
"Well I know how that is. I mean I love your sister to death but she was a nightmare sometimes during the pregnancy for sure."
Antonio let out a chuckle, "Yeah I can believe that. Does it get any better with twins? Laura mentioned that Gabby was always so tired because she was up with them half the night and Violet the other."
Matt wasn't going to lie to Antonio and tell him everything was all right when it wasn't. "Yeah like I said its been tough but the boys are sleeping for longer now and Violet is slowly getting adjusted and suggestions for dealing with her nightmares her doctor gave us seem to be helping."
"Yeah, they worked with Diego too. Only problem is Laura and I never stopped worrying. Now with his behavior the way it is Laura's getting more and more worried and I'm afraid something will happen to the babies," He admitted.
"I don't know if this'll help any but I've seen the way my co-workers boys are with each other and they're rough like Diego, maybe he is a little worse but maybe he's just had more going on. Also, if it makes you feel any better Violet seems to really be getting along with him.
"Yeah that helps a little; and I mean I know boys are rough I got into my fair share of fights when I was his age but…."
There was an awkward moment of silence between them before Antonio stood up, "I'm going to go and see if Eva and Diego want to come and see the rooms."
"Yeah," Matt also stood, "Good idea."
They made their way upstairs were Eva was sitting on the couch in the family room on her phone and Gabby and Laura were in the kitchen talking.
"Antonio," Laura gave her husband an exasperated sigh as soon as she saw him, "You better be finished the basement. If I have to hear one more word from Eva about sleeping in a room with baby things I'll kill you I swear.
Raising his hands in defeat he said, "Its finished Laur, just like I promised it would be."
"Yeah two weeks ago…"
"And then I got a case and I was swamped," He reminded her.
"Uh-huh Antonio," She rolled her eyes in response.
Seeing the potential for the fight escalating Gabby spoke up, "Eva and Diego are outside playing if you want to see Diego."
"Yeah," Antonio nodded and left the kitchen and walked out onto the deck he heard Violet and Diego talking as they sat in the top part of the climber and stopped.
"I think you're lucky," Diego was saying, "I wish I had younger brothers."
"Why?"
"Because I don't want to be the only boy."
"Isn't that better?"
"No. My Dad's been so worried about the new babies he's forgotten that we always go to a baseball game before school starts again."
Violet didn't know what to say.
"I know he's busy," Diego continued "He's busy with girl things. The babies are going to be new and Eva's going to date soon; maybe with boys I could help when they're older. Teach them things."
"Wanna trade? Uncle Matt is busy with work. He keeps saying he'll do things with me but he never has any time. I can't ask Aunt Gabby either but I want to do girl things.
Thinking now would be the ideal time to make his presence know Antonio opened the door quietly and then shut it louder. He then walked off the deck and up to the climber, "Hey you too wanna see downstairs?"
"Sure," Violet smiled and she slid down the slide and ran over to him; turning her body she said "Diego come on!"
Crossing his arms over his body and not moving an inch Diego shook his head, "I'm not going!"
Antonio knew that he had to talk to his son about what had been going on. "You go Violet I want to talk to Diego," Antonio told the girl.
"Okay," Violet walked inside and closed the door.
Walking onto the grass Antonio made his way towards the climber and climbed up the climber and sat down beside his son, "Alright bud talk to me."
"Nothing to talk about," Diego did his best not to meet his father's eyes.
"I heard what you were saying to Violet Diego. Why didn't you tell me?"
Tears stinging in his eyes he now turned to his father, "And how come you didn't remember?"
He was right. The annual event completely slipped his mind but Diego needed to know that wasn't an excuse for him to behave badly. "You're right I did forget and I'm sorry," He started off, "But you're eight years old now Diego and you need to understand that there's been a lot going on and things are going to be changing."
"I know," He mumbled and turned away.
"Look at me Diego," Antonio reached out for his arm.
Diego did what he was told.
Once he was sure he had his son's attention he continued, "Your mother and I aren't expecting you to adjust to being an older brother quickly alright. We…. I know how tough it can be. When Abuela and Abuelo told me they were going to have a baby I didn't handle it any better then you are."
"But you love Auntie Gabby. She's your best friend."
"Now. But for the longest time I didn't like her and she used to get on my nerves…she still does," He added with a chuckle, "The point is Diego that the second I held her for the first time I knew that I was never going to let anything bad happen to her. I may have not liked her after that and it took me until she could walk to realize just how much…. And you, you're lucky you're going to have two younger sisters and an older sister."
"I hate girls," Came the response.
"Wait a few years."
He frowned, "Why do you keep saying that?"
"Because," He looked around to make sure nobody was coming and lowered his voice, "When you're older and wanting to date your little sisters will be perfect magnets to get girls."
"Really?" Diego asked curiously.
"Don't tell your mother or Aunt I told you that. Its just between us guys."
Diego beamed, "Okay Dad."
"Good now do you want to come and see what we've been working on in the basement."
"Alright but when then babies come will everything be pink upstairs?"
Antonio had to laugh, "I hope not man."

A\N: So Antonio talked to Diego about what it's like to be a big brother? Will it make any difference or will Diego still cause problems. Also, Matt and Gabby have started the adoption process for Violet but with all of those forums to fill out do you think something will happen?
