A huge thanks to everyone who reviewed, favorited, and put this story on their alerts!

Sophie's outfit for this episode is on my polyvore :)

Here's the fixed version of the Impossible Planet, Part 1! This chapter and the next chapter I put them together, instead of doing them separately. What you'll see does look the same but does have changes. You'll see them as you read :) Enjoy! :D

Sophie's POV...

When I woke up the next morning, I couldn't feel the Doctor's arms around me. Maybe last night was dream, but as soon as I opened my eyes, I knew that it hadn't been because I was still in my mate's room. I felt disappointed that it hadn't been a dream and he really did hit me. Yes, I had forgiven him for what happened…but still…it was hard to fathom he actually hurt me when he promised he never would. I still loved him, though. What happened was a mistake and I knew it wouldn't happen again. It was probably naïve of me to think and feel that way, but I did. I wouldn't let it get that far again.

Sighing, I climbed out of his bed, still dressed in one of my mate's shirts. I grabbed my underwear off of the ground before slipping them back on. I made sure to gather all of my clothes that I wore yesterday and my bra. Then I headed out of his room to go to my room and take a bath before getting ready for the day ahead. Luckily as I made my way over there to my room, I didn't bump into Rose. She would definitely question why I had my clothes from the day before in my and I definitely didn't want to explain myself.

After taking my bath, drying my hair, putting on some makeup and getting on my outfit for the day, I went to the control room. With the help of Sexy, I was able to get that rather quickly. The Doctor was there by the console with his back towards me, so he didn't know I was there yet. I thought about going over to him and hug him from beside but I hesitated, not wanting to startle him, almost as if I was afraid that he would hurt me again like last night. I shook myself out of it. Why was I afraid of that now? After it happened, I was able to go up to him without feeling that but now I was hesitating about going over there to him. Maybe it was because I needed comforting after what happened and I wasn't thinking about it. That was the only explanation I could think of.

Shaking my head, I went over to my mate and slowly wrapped my arms around his waist. Immediately, I felt him stiffen at my touch but then he relaxed and turned his head towards me as I rested my chin on his shoulder. My blue eyes met his brown ones and we just stared at each other in silence until I broke it.

"Morning," I greeted softly.

"Morning, Sophie." His voice matched my tone as he turned in my arms, cautiously wrapping his arms around my waist, making sure he wasn't touching my backside. "How…how are you?" he asked me gently, reaching one hand up to tuck back a piece of my hair that was in my face behind my ear, letting his thumb gently stroke my cheek.

I leaned into his touch as I answered, "I'm fine, Theta. Really." I had to add the really after seeing the look of disbelief in his eyes. I wasn't lying. I really was fine.

"And how's your…" he trailed off, not finishing his sentence, knowing that I would know what he was talking about. And I knew he probably didn't want to say it out loud, not wanting to be reminded about what happened last night. Even though I knew that my mate would never forgive himself for what he did and that it would still be in his mind for the rest of the day today.

"That's fine too, still healed," I said as I brushed his hair away from his forehead, giving my mate a reassuring smile. Then the smile fell and it was my turn to give a concerned look. "And what about you? How are you doing?"

"I'm fine too," he answered rather quickly, so I knew that he was lying but I didn't call him on it.

I gave a nod. "Good." I leaned up and kissed him gently on the lips. He returned the kiss, but didn't deepen it like he usually did. We kissed for a few minutes until I broke the kiss, moving out of the Doctor's arms. And just in time to because Rose entered the console room, a skip in her step. I titled my head to the side, wondering what had her so happy.

"Morning, Doctor, Sophie!" she greeted brightly.

"Morning," my mate and I greeted back at the same time.

Rose smiled as she turned her head to look at the Doctor. "So where to next? We could go to Barcelona, you know, the planet? We haven't been there yet. You said you would take me there, remember?"

The Doctor smiled slightly. "Yes, I remember." He then turned to me, "What do you think, Soph? Barcelona? They have dogs with no noses! Can you imagine?" He laughed excitedly. Something I couldn't help but smile at, happy to see him this way especially after last night.

"Sounds good to me," I said.

His smile turned into a wide grin, "Brilliant!" With that, he went to put the coordinates in for Barcelona, the planet, not the city.

As we landed, I frowned to myself, noticing the landing felt uneasy and Sexy was groaning and wheezing as if she found the landing difficult. I stroked the controls on her console gently as I asked my friend with a concerned tone in my voice,

'What's wrong, Sexy? Are you okay?'

'I'm fine.' Sexy coughed, 'Just didn't want to land here.'

'In Barcelona?' I didn't wait for a reply because I noticed Rose and the Doctor getting out of the TARDIS. I followed them, so I wouldn't be left behind. I stepped out behind them as they looked up at the TARDIS, the Doctor frowning.

"I dunno what's wrong with her," he said, rubbing her exterior with a gentle hand. "She's sort of … queasy. Indigestion, like she didn't want to land."

'Good thing I wasn't the only one who noticed that.' I thought to myself before speaking up out loud. "She didn't." The Doctor and Rose looked over at me and I went on, "She told me that she didn't want to land here."

Rose's eyes narrowed slightly, "Why would she tell you?"

I shrugged. "I don't know…" I lied, "but I do know that whatever the reason why she didn't want to land…it can't be anything good."

"Oh, if you think there's gonna be trouble, we could always get back inside and go somewhere else," Rose said in a tone that made me roll my eyes. She laughed right afterwards.

I wanted to comment … to ask what was so funny. It could be serious. Sexy had to have a reason why she didn't want to land here and Rose definitely wouldn't be laughing if something bad happened.

"Where exactly are we?" I asked, changing the subject. "I don't know what this Barcelona planet looks like but this definitely isn't it. Looks like a cupboard to me."

The Doctor nodded thoughtfully, looking around. "I think your right. It is a cupboard, but a cupboard to where…"

"I think our best bet to find out is through that door." I nodded towards the door.

"Right!" He went to pat me on the shoulder. Involuntarily, I flinched and he stopped, a hurt look on his face. I winced.

'Sorry.' I told my mate apologetically.

'No need to apologize, Soph.' His voice was soft.

I gave him a quick mental nod before I spoke up out loud. "Well, come on, let's go see where we are."

The Doctor nodded in agreement as he headed over to the door, pulling it open. Rose and I followed him through the door. Just then, a computer went off.

"Open Door 15."

"What is this place?" I frowned curiously.

"Some sort of base," he answered. "Moon base, sea base…they built these sort of things out of kits."

I nodded. "Right," I said as I looked around the base. It was rather large and made me wonder where the crew was. I then shuddered at the thought of this being like what happened with Reinette. However I shook out of that thought since it couldn't be. That was a long time ago.

"Glad we're indoors – sounds like a storm out there…" Rose said.

Before I asked what was she was talking about, I heard the sound she was talking about.

"What's out there?" I mused to myself curiously. It did sound as if there was a storm outside. But if this was a base, then we would be in space so there couldn't be a storm. Also the sound sounded like drilling… I looked over at the Doctor to see him over by another door and he pushed it open making the computer go off again. He stepped through the doors with Rose following behind him quickly.

I stood there, trying to think of what they could be drilling. Obviously they were trying to get somewhere but where was the question? As smart as I was, I couldn't figure it out. Giving up, I went through the door that the Doctor and Rose went through and then went out this other door after walking down this corridor causing the computer to go off.

"Open Door 17."

I stepped into a canteen area, closing the door behind me. The computer went off again.

"Close Door 17."

I went to stand next to Rose and watched the Doctor, who was in the middle of the room and looking around in awe.

"Oh, it's a sanctuary base!" he said turning to us with excitement in his eyes. Rose and I grinned at his excitement. "Deep space exploration. We've gone way out. And listen to that…" He pointed downwards.

"I know, someone's drilling down there," I finished for him, moving over to him as I crossed my arms over my chest. "I was able to hear it from where we entered. I was trying to figure what they could be drilling down there…but no such luck."

Before he could response, Rose spoke up, "Welcome to Hell."

"Oh it's not THAT bad!"

She laughed. "No, over there!" The Doctor and I looked at what she was pointing at only to see the words, 'Welcome to Hell,' scrawled on the wall with ancient symbols written underneath. My eyes furrowed together as I stared at them.

"Hold on…" The Doctor went over to the wall and I followed behind him. "What does that say?" Both of us peered closely at the ancient text. Then the Doctor frowned, glancing over at me but I continued staring at the text, "That's weird. It won't translate."

"But I thought the TARDIS translated everything," Rose said and I looked back to see her standing behind us. "Writing as well. We should see English."

"Exactly. If that's not working, then it means…this writing is old. Very old. Impossibly old."

That might have been the reason but then I thought about the last time, Sexy couldn't translate anything. It was when the Doctor regenerated and he was sick. With that thought in mind, I reached a hand up and pressed it against his forehead. His eyes snapped to mine as soon as my hand made contact. He wasn't warm or hot like last time. I breathed a mental sigh of relief. The Doctor gently pulled my hand away from his forehead, giving my hand a squeeze.

'I'm fine, Soph.' He told me, knowing what I was thinking about.

I nodded to him mentally as I stood to my feet, saying out loud, "We should see who's in charge. They could tell us where we're at."

I went over to this other door I saw. I got to the door, opened it up, and stumbled backwards, letting out a gasp at these strange creatures in front of me. They had the body of a human but their heads were large and reminded me of a squid especially with the tentacles coming from the lower part of their face. In their hands, there was sphere and it made me wonder what they were for. Hand on my chest, I breathed heavily.

Hearing my gasp, the Doctor and Rose rushed over and jumped when they saw what I was looking at.

"Hello! Sorry!" The Doctor spoke quickly, trying to regain his composure. "Uh… I was just telling my two lovely companions, uh, nice base!"

"We must feed," the creatures said in unison, the spheres in their hands glowing white as they spoke. Oh! They used those to speak. They must be telepathic.

But back to what they said…

I blinked at the creatures. "What?"

"We must feed," they repeated.

Rose gulped, starting to back away. "Yeah. I think they mean us." We backed up as the creatures advanced on us. Instinctually, my mate wrapped a protective arm around my waist and pulled me to his side, earning a frown from Rose. I ignored it. We had more important things to do. Namely to get away from these creatures. Quickly thinking, we ran to the door that we came out of but before we got to it, the door opened and more of the creatures came out causing us to back away again.

"We must feed." The creatures kept on repeating this. As we continued to back away, another door opened and once again, more creatures came through. How many were there?! "We must feed. We must feed. We must feed."

The Doctor removed his arm from around my waist and quickly took out his sonic from his pocket and I glanced away from it with a flinch, getting reminded of last night but I pushed it in the back of my mind. I needed to stop thinking about last night. It was over now.

His other arm moved in front of me protectively while Rose picked up a chair to protect herself with it. We were back into a wall with the Doctor holding out the sonic and Rose holding out the chair by the advancing creatures. There was no way out now.

Well, this was turning out to be a great adventure.

Then the strangest thing happened…the creatures stopped advancing towards us.

"We must feed," One of the creatures said this time. It shook and tapped the white sphere. "You. If you are hungry."

The Doctor looked at it confused, lowering the sonic and his arm. "Sorry?"

"We apologize," The creature apologized politely. "Electromagnetics have inferred with our speech systems."

"Uh, it's alright," I said awkwardly as Rose put down the chair.

"Would you like some refreshment?"

"Uhm…" Even the Doctor didn't know what to say and that was saying something.

"No, thank you," I finally answered the creature, giving it the same amount of politeness as I gave a gentle smile. "But thanks for asking."

The ball glowed again, "Thank you, miss."

"Open Door 18," the computer went off suddenly before I could say anything else, and a door flew open, causing all of us to look towards the door. A man stepped out, flanked by two others, holding guns. As he looked at us, surprise and disbelief filled his eyes.

"What the hell…?" he sputtered. "How did…?" He approached the three of us, staring at us. I was confused, though. Why was he shocked to see us? He brought his communication device to his mouth and spoke into it, disbelief coloring his tone of voice, "Captain…you're not going to believe this. We're got PEOPLE. Out of nowhere. I mean, real people. I mean three…living…people. Just standing there, right in front of me." Talk about stating the obvious much?

Another man's voice came through the comm, "Don't be stupid, that's impossible."

"I suggest telling them that."

"How is that impossible?" I voiced the question that was on the Doctor, Rose, and I's mind as the man looked over at me. "I mean, you are a space base, right? I'm sure you have visitors all the time."

"You're telling me you don't know where you are?" the man asked gruffly.

"No idea. More fun that way." The Doctor grinned and Rose smirked at his reply but I shook my head at him with a smile on my face.

"Stand by, everyone," a woman's voice announced over the tannoy. "Buckle down. We have incoming. And it's a big one. Quake Point 5 of its way."

As the base started to quake and tremble, the man rushed over to a door and opened it.

"Through here!" he barked at us. "Now. Quickly, come on." Sirens started to sound as he ran through the door.

The Doctor, Rose, and I ran behind him with the two security guards, guns armed at the ready.

"Now!"

We came through another corridor, which was shaking wildly, almost knocking me off of my feet but I managed to keep myself from falling. Smoke was rising through the floor. Complete chaos all around us.

"Move it! Come on! Come on, come on!" The man cried over the noise. We continued to run.

I nearly tripped over my feet again as I let out a squeak when sparks flew everywhere. I grabbed the Doctor's arm while snaking my other arm around his waist, pressing up against his side to keep myself away from the sparks. In response, he wrapped a protective arm around my waist.

"Move it, come on! Quickly! Move it!" We hurried down the corridor and we entered another room. It was in the control room and the rest of the crew was in there working. A woman and two men, who all looked up at the sight of us coming in, and their mouths dropped open. The Doctor beamed at everyone.

"Oh my GOD," One of the men said in shock, the one that had spoken to the man who found us, "You meant it."

"People! Look at that! Real people!" The only woman exclaimed.

"Yeah, the last time we checked we were real," I said.

"That's us." The Doctor nodded in agreement, "Hooray!"

Rose smiled at them sweetly. "Yeah, definitely real," she told the group. "My name's Rose…Rose Tyler, this is Sophie." I waved a hand as she pointed at me then she pointed at the Doctor, "And – and this is the Doctor."

Another one of the crew members' strided over to us. "Come on…the oxygen must be offline. We're hallucinating. They can't be…" He poked me in the cheek, earning a roll of the eyes from me and a narrowed eyed look from the Doctor, slight annoyance flashing in his eyes as his grip tightened around my waist. As soon as his finger touched my skin, he jerked his hand back, eyes wide, "No. They're real!"

"Really? What was your first clue?" I asked sarcastically and sassily, crossing my arms over my chest. He looked like he was going to reply, but he was cut off.

"Come ON, we're in the middle of an alert! Danny, strap up, the quake's coming in!"

"Got it Zach!"

"Impact in thirty seconds!" Zach looked over at the Doctor, Rose, and I, "Sorry, you three, whoever you are. Just…hold on. Tight."

Rose stared at him, "Hold on to what?"

"Anything. I don't care."

I was the first one to listen to him and grabbed onto a nearby railing, holding on tight.

"Ood, are we fixed?" Zach asked the creature, or 'Ood' as he called it. What a strange name. Well, more like odd. The Doctor and Rose followed my example and grabbed on the railing. I scooted over to give them more room.

The Ood lifted its ball, which flashed white as it replied, "Your kindness in this emergency is much appreciated."

"What's this planet called anyway?" The Doctor asked curiously.

"Now, don't be stupid." A woman near Zach gave the Doctor a look, "It hasn't got a name. How could it have a name?" The Doctor just raised his eyebrows at her and the woman's own eyebrows furrowed together, "You really don't know, do you?"

"And… IMPACT!" The entire base shook violently and all of us clung on tight so we wouldn't fall, but it was over very quickly. The Doctor stood up, letting go of the railing.

"Oh, well, that wasn't so bad-!" He was thrown backwards as the base shook even more violently than before and he grabbed back onto the railing, gripping it tight. There was a small explosion from one of the console. Sparks flew everywhere once again and we were thrown around like ragdolls. The Doctor fell to the ground right on the small steps we were nearby, bringing me down with him as he grabbed my waist when the sparks had flown all over the place to protect. I fell right into his lap.

"You alright?" The Doctor breathed into my ear.

I nodded in reply, staying in his lap, not wanting to get up because the base was still shaking and I knew if I got up I would only fall back again. Finally, the base stopped shaking and the Doctor unwrapped his arms around me. I got out the Doctor's lap, standing up to my feet and brushing my pants off.

"Okay, that's it!" Zach called as Jefferson ran forward with a fire extinguisher in his hand. "Everyone alright? Speak to me, Ida?"

"Yeah, yeah!"

"Danny?"

"Fine."

"Toby?"

"Yeah, fine."

"Scooti?"

"No damage."

"Jefferson?"

"Check!"

The Doctor and Rose got up with the Doctor commenting sarcastically, "We're fine, thanks, fine, yeah, don't worry about us."

Zach ignored him, "The surface caved in. I detected it to storage 5 through 8. We're lost them completely." He looked over at Toby, "Toby, go and check the rocket link."

"That's not my department."

Zach gave him an annoyed look. "Just do as I say, yeah?"

Sighing, Toby grudgingly left the room.

"Oxygen holding." Ida let Zach know, "Internal gravity 56.6. We should be okay."

Rose looked around. "Nevermind the Earthquake, that's … one hell of a storm," she said. "What is that, hurricane?"

"You'd need an atmosphere for hurricane," Scooti answered. "There's no air out there. It's a complete vacuum."

"If it wasn't a hurricane, then what was it?" I spoke, crossing my arms.

"You're not joking." Ida looked at me in disbelief. "You really don't know?"

"Nope," I said, popping the 'p'.

"Well – introductions. FYI as they said in the olden days. I'm Ida Scott, science officer." She indicated to Zach, "Zachary Cross Flane, acting captain, sir…you've met Mr. Jefferson." She pointed to him and he nodded towards us, "Danny Bartock. Ethics committee."

"Not as boring as it sounds," Danny joked and I couldn't help but giggle.

"Never said it was," I teased, unable to help it.

Danny grinned over at me.

"And that man who just left, that was Toby Zed, archeology, and this…" Ida placed her hands on Scoot's shoulders, "…is Scooti Manista. Trainee maintenance." Scooti smiled at us as Ida went over to a set of controls, "And this … this is home." She turned a lever and a whirling sound started.

"Brace yourself," Zach told the Doctor, Rose, and I. We looked over at him, "The sight of it sends some people mad."

Suddenly, the room was flooded with a red-ish light as an overhead window opened revealing…

"Oh my God…" I breathed out at the sight of a black hole as I stood up amazed. I walked forward a bit, staring up at it as light was being sucked into it. A hand on my shoulder stopped me from walking further. I didn't have to look back to know that it was Doctor.

"That's a black hole," Rose stated the obvious in an amazed voice.

"But that's…" The Doctor trailed off, a look of disbelief on his face.

"Impossible," I finished for him in a whisper. "Completely and utterly impossible."

"I did warn you," Zach pointed out.

"We're standing under a black hole." The Doctor said only for Ida to correct him.

"We're in orbit."

"But we can't be…" my mate muttered in response. "You can see for yourself. We're in orbit."

The Doctor turned to look at her. "But we can't be…" he stressed out.

"This lump of rock is suspended in perpetual geostationary orbit around that black hole without falling in. Discuss."

"And that's bad, yeah?" Rose turned to look at the Doctor, but I was the one who replied.

"It's more than just bad, it's horrible," I said softly. "A black hole is a dead star. It collapses in until the matter is literally so tight and tense that it brings everything in. nothing can escape it. Not air, not light, not gravity, nothing."

The Doctor nodded. "Exactly," he agreed, giving me a proud smile and look. I couldn't help but blush under his gaze. "And it doesn't stop until it crushes everything in sight."

"So they can't be in orbit," Rose said. "We should be pulled right in."

"We should be dead," The Doctor corrected.

"And yet…here we are. Beyond the laws of physics. Welcome on board."
