The next morning, I watched from the guard tower as Rick, Michonne, and Carl left to find more supplies. Daryl had left a long time ago to go back inside the prison, and I was secretly pleased with the fact that Daryl had to put himself back in order before he went back to the rest. His hair had been a wreck and some articles of his clothing had ended up on the floor of the guard tower along with mine.

I fixed myself up before I left the guard tower. I ran my fingers through my hair to comb it out and put my hoodie back on; it had somehow gotten off last night while Daryl had been here. Yawning, I left the guard tower and entered the chilly morning. I huffed a breath and saw a puff of steam come out of my mouth.

Shuddering, I hoped that Rick and the others found enough supplies for winter. We won't last long without it. I zipped up my hoodie and started back for the cell block. When I entered the permanent chill of the cell block, I saw that Carol was making oatmeal from some brown paper bags. She looked up as I approached and she handed me a fresh bowl. I smiled briefly at her before walking deeper into the cell block.

Everyone was still asleep; I caught glimpses of them sprawled out or curled up inside the cells. My mouth full of fresh oatmeal, I smiled to myself and climbed the stairs to where my cell was.

I didn't realize until then just where Daryl's cell was. It was right next to mine. I peeked inside the bars and found Daryl sleeping on the top bunk. One of his feet was hanging off the edge. He shifted and I finally made it into my cell, not wanting him to catch me staring. I had just finished eating my oatmeal when I fell fast asleep on the bottom bunk.

It was early afternoon by the time I woke up. The empty bowl of my breakfast was missing; I assumed someone came in and took it while I was sleeping.

Beth was cradling Judith as I climbed down the stairs to join the rest of the group. Judith made a tiny squeal and Beth smiled kindly at me. I paused beside them, taking Judith's tiny hand into mine. "How is she today?" I asked Beth.

"She just had her bottle," Beth reported. "She's gotten so big in the last few weeks. How long d'you think it'll be before she can walk?"

I let out a small huff of amusement. "I don't know a lot about babies, but I think she's still a long ways from walking around. I am interested to see how she grows up, though." Beth laughed quietly in agreement.

"I think she's gonna be just fine." Beth said. Judith let out a loud baby noise that made it sound like she agreed with us. I said goodbye to them and continued out into the main living area. Merle was sitting in his private cell, cross-legged on the bed and eyeing anyone who made eye contact with him. Hershel was sitting at one of the tables, reading what I realized was the Bible. From right beside him sat Glenn, who was cleaning a shot gun.

Daryl walked in from outside and I found myself smiling to myself at the memory of last night. What could've been twenty minutes anywhere else felt like hours up there in that guard tower with Daryl. Daryl caught my eye and one of the corners of his mouth turned upward slightly. I rolled my eyes and smirked back at him before breaking the eye contact.

Later that day, Daryl and I went on a patrol of B Block and the blocks around us. The patrol was quiet for the most part, most of the Walkers we came across were stuck inside their cells.

"Poor bastards," I said, looking at two of them press themselves against the bars. Daryl gave me a look. We ended up inside the library, where Daryl browsed the shelves and I kept watch. Or I tried to keep watch, but I kept looking over at him from the corner of my eyes. At some point, Daryl caught me looking and smirked about it.

"Take a picture, it'll last longer," He said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

"You know," I said with a shrug. "I would if I actually had a camera." Daryl moved closer to me so that his side brushed up against mine. He grunted once before grabbing my chin and turning my head towards him. Next thing I knew, his mouth was against mine.

I indulged him for a few minutes before placing my hands on his chest and pushing him off. "Calm down there, buddy. We're supposed to be on patrol here."

"You were supposed to be on guard duty," Daryl said in a low voice, reminding me of last night. I blushed slightly.

"Yeah, well, let's get finished up here. People are going to start looking for us if we don't get back soon." I said. Daryl rolled his eyes at me but didn't argue with that. We finished soon finished our rounds and began to head back to where the others were waiting.

A/N: Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologize for neglecting to post anything. Writer's block is a bitch and my next semester started, so I lost track of time. I actually had part of this chapter written before going on that unscheduled hiatus, and that forced me to come back and edit it slightly so that the document wouldn't get deleted. Well, I've reread this story, and I'm going to try and update more often. I don't know if it'll be as often as I used to update, but I'll try.

I hope you all enjoy this update and once again, I'm sorry for not updating.
