Hey guys,
Just a short one this time, it's Edward's POV of the initial search for Bella once they realise she's gone. I hope you enjoy!
Chapter 36
EPOV
She's gone. Taken. Disappeared from under my nose. And we have no idea who by or how it happened. I jumped out of bed when I heard a glass shatter in the kitchen. But by the time I made it into the room she was being carried out the front door by a masked man and straight into a waiting van. No number plates and no distinguishing marks. Nothing for us to go on. Not a single lead. Immediately I was on the phone with the authorities and the house was swarmed within 15 minutes. Some how a man had managed to walk through the front door undetected, wait until Bella showed herself and then steal her away through the same door he walked through and into the night.
Terrifying.
Unbelievable.
Horrifying.
I was still in shock when the police arrived, Jasper had to physically shake me to get me to snap out of it. I couldn't stop thinking about what might be happening to her right now. I'm almost certain it's one of Aro's men. Is he here in the US? Someone will have to check that out. Because if he's here that's where we need to start looking.
I decide to listen in on the police interviewing the security guards who were meant to be patrolling the property, hoping to keep my brain from the horrifying scenarios running through my head. One of the guards is missing and after a thorough search of the property they decide that he was most likely involved in the incident. The picture I'm shown matches the physical description I gave of the man who took Bella. Tall, about 6 and a half feet tall, broad shoulders, muscular and short dark cropped hair. But that was from behind, I never saw his face. It also explains how he was able to access the house without setting off the alarms and leave the same way. It also explains why the alarm wasn't raised due to an intruder. The other security guards simply thought he was doing his rounds. Apparently this particular man had been insistent on doing the evening shift and always jumped at the opportunity to patrol the ground floor. No one considered it odd at the time, everyone has their niche. But as they say hindsight is a bitch.
The other security guards have no more information pertinent to the case and are asked to continue patrolling the area. When Carlisle and Esme show up at the house Carlisle informs Edward that Aro is in fact visiting the US and will be staying for a month. Immediately the police, myself and Carlisle and looking into Aro's whereabouts, the property he's staying on and who he's with. The property is large and in a secluded place, perfect for holding someone captive. As soon as I realise this I get my gear together and prepare myself to head over there.
"Ed, man. You can't just go in guns blazing." Emmett says, clamping a firm hand down on my shoulder.
"Why not!" I yell in his face. "Why can't I go and save her right now. We know it's him. Why should I stand around and wait for everyone to catch up with me when I know that he's got her!" My chest is heaving by the time I finish.
"I know man, trust me I know. But we have to have a plan. We might only get one shot at saving her so we can't fuck it up. We need to do it as a team, Ed."
Why does he have to be the voice of reason? I wonder to myself. My body deflates and the fight in me dampens for the time being.
"Okay, fine. We make a plan and then we go." I respond. Turning to the lead detective I say, "So what's the plan."
