Harry had surprised James at Christmas with a gift. He had accepted them from James and been allowing the man contact on holidays, invited him to birthdays, but this was different. It had been the first time Harry had really extended a hand to him. James had found both a book and an album. Harry had been told James liked old mysteries and found him a book. But he had given James an album of copies of photos Harry had. James had taken out some photos and had them hung up in his small flat. It meant a lot that Harry was allowing him more a place in his life.
As the final semester as a student of Hogwarts came through, Harry was busy. He tried out for the United and to no surprise he was the new seeker. George and Fred bought their second shop in London and would open that summer. And in June Harry finished the top of his class. He was spending the summer in London before he started apprenticing. He would be busy playing in the fall as well but excited by both.
Sirius pouted in the fall. "I don't get why you have to live way over here."
Harry smirked. "Way over here?"
"You are an apprentice. You could have your room."
Remus laughed. "You are right, he is an apprentice."
Harry reminded him. "And a lot closer than the head's tower."
Sirius was still pouting. "I guess."
"I am sure Harry will come through for coco."
Harry nodded. "And you know that means no Orion here."
Sirius had a flash of a smile. "There is that."
Remus led his son. "Let us go look at your new suite while he is still convinced."
Harry motioned. "Right across the hall."
"Could have been next door so we could….."
Remus smacked his husband. "He is a grown man."
Harry hugged Sirius. "I will be over a lot."
Sirius laughed. "I know."
Harry found that his dads had been busy. For all his complaining, Sirius had helped decorate his son's new apartments. A television and compute had been added with some help from Lucius. There were personal photos along the one wall without books, and one of him and everyone he loved, above the fireplace. He had a second bedroom and Remus joked Orion could have his own bedroom. In reality it was a guest room but also had a desk space for him. He would not have his own office until he was a professor, he would share with his dad, so this was his work space.
Harry was happy with what they had done and he could not believe the space was his own. It was different then sharing the head's dorm with Hermione. Hermione and Ron were sharing a flat in London, Hermione in law school and Ron was working for his dad.
Harry went with his dads into town for dinner. "You are up to something."
Remus played innocent. "You need to eat."
"And what was wrong with the hall?"
Sirius shrugged. "School is not in yet."
"I am sure the teachers get fed in summer."
Remus put him in a headlock. "Keep that up and we will leave you to Kreacher."
"He likes to cook for me."
Sirius thought. "To your boyfriend."
Harry put his hands up. "I surrender."
Fred's voice came from behind. "I am not that bad."
Harry kissed him tenderly. "Not with my lessons."
George was with his twin. "Succeeded where mum failed."
Harry was surprised when he found a group. "What is this?"
Sirius reminded him. "You didn't allow us to throw you a proper birthday."
Harry reminded them. "I was away for an exhibition game. And we celebrated."
Remus shrugged. "Call it a house warming then."
Harry had been away with the United for his first exhibition game on his birthday. Usually during the summer they were off but they did play in the odd one. The season was September until March, spring training in April. Oliver and the team had taken him out when he was in France. Bill and Fleur, and Fred who had come, joined them. His dads had a small celebration when he got home but he had insisted on nothing too big. But it seemed his family had other ideas. It seemed his Aunts, who were there with their families, had rubbed off on his dads.
He could admit he was touched and when he saw his rooms, he had suspected. Most of the rooms were his gift from his Aunts and Uncles. Harry saw Neville had come down from school, and his other friends. Blaise was there with Ginny, having been dating for over a year.
Harry went to James before dinner. "I didn't expect you."
"Your dads invited me."
Harry smiled. "I got tickets for my first game."
"I am sure they are excited to see."
Harry handed him one. "I got four."
James took it. "Are you sure?"
"Can't hurt to have an Uncle or two cheering me on."
"Uncle?"
"Uncle. Dad's brother once."
James hugged him. "Uncle I can live with."
Harry returned the hug. "Good."
Remus came to his side when Harry was gone. "Are you okay with that?"
James nodded. "I am happy he'll allow me that."
It meant a lot to James that his son was allowing him that role. It had been slow but Harry had been allowing him more and more into his life. At first it had been for stories about his grandparents and Charlie. But as they spoke, things had been getting better. Harry had asked him to be at his final lunch and had visited in the summer. He could not just live with Uncle, he was happy. He was never Harry's dad, but felt he could do this.
James smiled and thought. 'I may even get to see him walk down the aisle one day.'
Harry and James grew closer as James moved into the role Harry allowed him. And James was happy to see Harry healing and moving on. At twenty one Harry was done apprenticing and had taught for a year. He had seen his friends marry and all of Fred's family, even Charlie. Ginny and Blaise, and Charlie and Rodger, both recently welcomed sons. George and Angie had twin boys and Hermione and Ron, had Hugo. Harry knew he was ready for the next step. He knew he wanted to marry Fred and have a family. They had spoken and Fred would be the carrier as Harry wanted to play a few years still even teaching. But there was no ring yet and Harry could admit he was a bit anxious.
Fred was anxious as well. And knowing Harry was ready, he had enlisted the help of their loved ones, to plan a proposal. James was even a part. It was the summer, and while Harry spent time at the coast with his dads, he was usually at school to be close to Fred.
Harry smiled after an exhibition game. "I am famished."
Oliver agreed. "Katie and I are heading for lunch."
"Do I need to invite myself? Or am I a third wheel?"
Katie laughed. "More a double date."
Fred cut in as Harry was confused. "Not going to let you go without me."
Harry smiled. "I didn't know you were here."
Katie smirked. "Didn't know you were coming."
Oliver agreed. "We had plans for your boyfriend. And a set up."
Fred growled. "Traitors."
Harry's stomach cut in. "Can we argue over food?"
Fred laughed. "Sounds good."
Oliver agreed. "Our surprise date isn't arriving till later anyways."
Harry saved Oliver. "I'd cut it out or the team may need a new keeper."
Harry had no idea that lunch as in fact the start of a set up. They conveniently ran into George and Angie at the Cauldron who were having lunch with Alicia. Harry thought it was odd but said nothing as they joined the group. It was nice to all sit down. He did note it odd George's twins were not there. It was a nice time and they headed into Diagon after. Harry was happy to see Hermione and Ron with his little godson Hugo. Harry was happy to take his little godson to look at brooms and bought him a toy snitch, but his mom insisted on the book store as well. They even stopped at James' for a visit. James had been dating but he had never really settled. He likely would remain a bachelor but was happy.
Harry was surprised when they were headed to the Burrow. He had thought they were spending the evening on the coast. When they stopped at the Quibbler, and met Luna and Neville, he was even more suspicious. He knew Luna worked for her dad but he was getting suspicious.
As they headed to the Burrow he demanded. "What are you up to?"
"Up to?"
"The newspaper?"
"You didn't mind seeing Frankie did you?"
"No, but I see him at school plenty."
"We need to stop by and see mum."
"Why?"
"Dinner."
"I thought we were having a quiet night together."
"We will. She just helped."
Molly smiled when they arrived. "There you boys are."
Harry eyed all the others. "Family dinner?"
Arthur laughed. "Table is full."
Molly motioned. "I am almost done. Come in."
Harry eyed the woman and her son and had no idea what his boyfriend was up to. But Fred and he soon left with a picnic basket and headed for the coast as was promised. They headed down along the water and Harry was touched by the picnic Molly had packed for them. He was reminded when he commented that Fred could have made it, what Harry always said about Fred's food. Harry could admit Fred had a point.
Harry was enjoying the food when he was surprised. "Orion."
Fred saw. "You said he liked the water."
"A little fisherman."
Fred shrugged. "Hungry."
"I left him at school."
"Are you sure?"
Harry stood. "Yes I am sure."
Fred walked with Harry to the edge of the water. "Maybe your dads brought him."
"Why would they do that?"
"For this."
Harry was shocked when he knelt. "This?"
Fred took out a beautiful ring. "I love you more than my very life, marry me."
Harry nodded. "Yes."
Fred slid the ring on and standing pulled Harry into a kiss. "I love you."
There was clapping behind. "About time."
Harry was not surprised to find they were not alone. He was only surprised only to find his dads and Fred's parents. He would have expected the whole family. But he was reminded of all the people he saw today and he suspected it had been intentional. Fred confirmed he knew they would all want to be a part. He had wanted his boyfriend alone so he had set up the other steps so they could all share. The Malfoys and Tonks were not involved yet, but they knew. And Harry had no doubt his Aunts would insist on an engagement party as well as helping plan the wedding. The parents were their only for a toast and then would leave them alone. But it meant a lot to have them all there, all five. James was also there.
Sirius raised a toast of some wine Lucius had supplied. "Of our two families soon being united for real."
An: One more chapter. I will be sad to see it go but don't want it to drag. I promise a wedding and glimpse of Harry's future. And Lily/Arianne.
