AN: I know it's been like forever or it feels like it to me. I have a good reason though and learned my lesson. Do not leave Laptop on table when drinking with friends. Chapter 36 - Missing her

Lips drawn into a pout as she hears the soft voice in her ear through her phone and the only thing she can think about is how much she would rather her laying next to her instead of being away from her. This blows. Her eyebrows are drawn in together and her pout deepens as she wishes the winter break would go fast like the rest of the semester had. It seemed weird that her high school swim career was over when she could remember being a freshman like it was yesterday and how nervous she was about whether or not she was going to make the team. She was sad that it was over and didn't have any regrets since she achieved all of her goals that she set out to accomplish for the year. Including Maya. Of course, she was tested since she broke every record that she swam in and obviously, the tests came back negative. I'm already a beast without it. She rolled her eyes at how some swimmers probably wished that she tested positive so that they could have a medal but she didn't roll like that. Some of her teammates cried afterwards but she didn't since her swim career wasn't over. Far from it. She still had college and the olympics next year since she qualified over the summer.

So, afterwards, the weeks flew fast and although she didn't start training hardcore til the middle of January, she still did things to stay in shape and kill time when she wasn't with Maya or her friends. Maya had band practices that she wasn't allowed to sit on so she had to do something to keep her busy and she couldn't do her homework when Maya was her tutor. That leaves time for her to do a little swimming here and there along with lifting weights and running to stay in shape so that she doesn't die in spring training. Thanksgiving was good as her family came in to celebrate the holidays including hanging out with Maya and her friends. The next weeks went by, midterms were pass and now she was in Rosewood without Maya over her Christmas Break since she was in California with her family. Sure, Emily went to the Philippines for the first week to spend time with family over there before heading to Texas to Spend Christmas with her dad but now she wanted to spend time with Maya. "Baby, I still think you should go out" Maya said again getting Emily huff through the phone,

"I don't want to" Emily rolls her eyes as she heard Maya's giggles through the phone. Maya wouldn't be back for another couple of days and Emily hated it. She started thinking about when they would go off to college and going to different schools before shaking her head. There was no way she would be able to do long distance if only three weeks was killing her. It wasn't that she would cheat on Maya. Definitely not. It was the fact that she wouldn't be able to not kiss Maya for weeks or months at a time or touch Maya or just look at her in person. "I miss you" She whispers as Maya giggles,

"Really" Emily closes her eyes,

"No" Maya laughs at her, as Emily groans, "Stop laughing. It's not funny" Emily pouts again as she opens her eyes to stare at her ceiling. Yea, there's no way I can do long distance.

"Awww baby you know I'm just teasing you." Emily could still hear the smile in her voice as the corner of her lips twitch up just imagining the way Maya's eyes dance when they tease her and how sexy she was when she smiled at her. "I always miss you especially when I'm laying in bed by myself" Emily smiled before biting her lip as one hand went behind her head,

"Yea?" Emily whispered and her smile widened when Maya chuckled almost breathlessly,

"Bye" She said as she hung up the phone. It was early on the west coast which surprised Emily earlier but Maya had to be since her family were having a reunion and she was helping them set it up. Lucky. Emily took a deep breath before standing up and stretching. "Gym then pool" She said to herself as she got her stuff and headed out. She picked up Hannah on the way since Hannah had texted her asking to come along since she was bored.

"It sucks that they have to be up early to set up everything but shouldn't they have done everything like yesterday or another day?" Hannah asked as she ran on the treadmill next to Emily. Emily shrugs,

"I guess but their family reunion is at the beach so I doubt you can set it up the night before" Emily said as she picked up her pace. Hannah nodded,

"That actually makes sense because then beach bums would probably wreck everything that they set up." Emily shook her head, "I know if I was a beach bum I would just for the fun of it."

"I doubt bums would actually do that and you would never be a bum" Hannah rolled her eyes,

"I so could but I love fashion too much" Emily laughed a little at her, "And you stop being naive, Stud" Emily looked over at her, "Some bums do that"

"Naive? Have you even seen a bum before?" Hannah looked at her and was about to open her mouth, "In person and not on TV" Hannah closed it then opened it again, "And not ones you think are bums at our school because their fashion sense is a fail to you" Hannah closes her mouth and shakes her head this time, "I rest my case" Emily said running faster,

"Well, even a beach bum probably have better fashion sense than the ones that go to our school. Fucking idiots." Emily chuckles. Here goes her fashion rant. "like do they really think that they can start a trend. Like really? It just looks totally fucked up. Like who wears plaid with stripes socks and sandals and none of the colors are matching. Like does that even make sense. I just want …." Hannah continues to rant as Emily just runs and runs for what felt like hours but really was just one since Hannah was out of breath and now dragging on the treadmill. "O…..kay" She pants, "I'm…. done" She stops it and tries to breathe.

"Me too but now I have to lift weights so lets go" She said pulling Hannah off the machine and nearly tripping as she followed Emily. "You wanted to go so let's do this so we look sexy tonight" Hannah pouts, sticking out her bottom lip and drawing her eyebrows low and towards each other. Trying to give Emily the puppy dog face as well to get her to change her mind. Emily mimics her face before shaking her head, "Not happening" Hannah grunts making Emily laugh as she starts the bench machine. "Let's do this"

"Fine" She whines but then a smirk appears on her face, "Ohhhhhhhh I get it" As Emily does her reps,

"Get.. what" She says between breaths,

"Why you are working out so hard" Emily raises an eyebrow while doing a couple more reps, "You're sexually frustrated" Emily raises the other one while still doing reps. "When was the last time you got some? Since Beth or CeCe?" Emily smirks shaking her head. Not that long but it sure does feel like it. She finishes then puts it up,

"Your turn" Hannah narrows her eyes at her,

"You got the booty" Emily shakes her head, "Oh my God! It totally makes sense well more sense to if you're trying to impress but the only one you are trying to impress is not here" Emily pushes Hannah down on the bench before Hannah lays back with her eyes wide with excitement as she squeals. "True but you're dating Caleb and Caleb is Maya's brother which means you would be lying to Caleb which is bad for your relationship since Caleb still has some trust issues and you can't tell him because I've been your best friend since forever and you're friends with Maya and we didn't want you to have to choose between your best friend and boyfriend" Hannah stares at her for a second trying to comprehend everything that Emily just said to her.

"Wow. I totally understood what you just said" Emily nodded,

"I know because I answered to a way that only you would be able to understand." Hannah nods, "Exactly how you answer people" Hannah smiles at her then shrugs,

"It's not my fault that I want to make sure you understand what I am telling you the first time so I don't have to repeat myself the second time" Hannah shrugs getting Emily to shake her head,

"Just lift" Hannah nods as her Emily lifted weight for the next couple of hours along with using the stair-stepper and bicycle. It was now four and they were in the pool, Emily swimming while Hannah just tread water and relaxed. Emily was just finishing up her little workouts to get ready for spring training next month. "Okay ready?" Hannah nodded as they both get out and dry themselves before heading to the locker room and get their stuff. They decided to just shower at their house and not at the gym so they just got in Emily's car. Emily drops Hannah off then heads home to take a shower and nap before tonight. She was laying in bed with only a black sports bra and her black boxer briefs to match that she like to sleep in every once in a while. Checking her phone one more time to see that Maya still hasn't texted her, she sent her a quick text saying she loved her before putting her phone in the charger and closing her eyes. She didn't even feel like she was sleep long but heard Maya's familiar ringtone. She blindly reached out and felt around the nightstand for her phone before finding it, "Hello" she said groggily with her eyes still closed,

She looked a little behind her to see Maya standing there with just her sweats and t-shirt on. "Surprise" Maya smiled at her. Emily hung up her phone, placing it back on her nightstand as she turned over,

"You still wanna cuddle with me" Emily said flipping her pillow so that the drool stain wasn't showing. Please. Maya laughed at her,

"Unfortunately, I do because it's freezing in here but you need to brush your teeth first" Emily shook her head,

"No, my breath is still minty fresh since I have only been sleep for like 30 minutes" Maya pursed her lips then shook her head,

"You drooled babe" Emily rolled her eyes. Unfortunately. "Here take a couple of Altoids then" She said reaching into her pocket for them, "Like three and then I'll kiss your slobbery mouth" Emily flicked her off making her laugh, "Will do but not til you take three of them" Emily rolled her eyes but took three and popped them all in her mouth making her eyes grow wide before coughing,

"Shirt off" Maya smirked at her and then pulled her shirt over her head. Emily licked her lips once she saw the new exposed skin that was tanned back to her caramel complexion she had before it got cold in Rosewood. Maya made her way to the bed, "Pants off too" Maya frowned,

"Are you serious?" Emily nodded, "It's fucking freezing here Emily" Emily laughed at her,

"I'll keep you warm." Maya glared at her, "Come on chocolate drop" Emily pulled the covers back. Maya's eyes ran over the new exposed skin that Emily was showing her, "Baby" Maya rolled her eyes then quickly pulled down her pants, shivering a little before running and jumping in the bed with Emily. Emily laughed at her girl before moving a little so that she can be laying in her previous spot knowing it was warm then pulled the covers up over them. You wanted to be in the olympics since you were a kid and you want a medal as well. I'm not going to be the one that gets in the way of your dreams. I love you too much to do that" Maya kissed her shoulder again as they laid there silent for a little bit before Emily grabbed Maya's hand and interlaced their fingers together,

"What if you are what's best for me, My" Emily whispered as she pulled Maya's arm closer, "I don't think I can do long distance because I just want to see you everyday and kiss you everyday and I would probably go insane not being able to" Emily kissed Maya's fingers, "Just these few weeks we were away was too long. I wanna touch you whenever I can and I can't do that if I'm in Texas and who's to say Texas is the best for me all around."

"I'm not saying it is. I just don't want you to base your decision solely on me but what is in your best interest that's all." Maya kissed her on the back of her neck, "But if Texas is the best, I want you to go there. I have no doubt we would make it" Emily turned her head to look at her,

"Really" Maya nodded. They just stayed looking at each other for a couple of minutes before Emily smirked, "Okay but if USC is the best for me then you better get ready to be in my bed every night when we're there." Maya giggled,

"Hell no. Unless, parents is home then lingerie is the next best thing in bed" Maya giggled shaking her head,

"Come on, Beautiful" She held her hand out for Emily and didn't have to wait long for Emily to take it. "It'll be fun" Emily rolled her eyes as she also grabbed a bag since she was staying the night at Hannah but try and sneak in Maya's house since she had time to make up. "You should stay the night since I'll be by myself tonight" Emily's eyes widen,

"Your parents aren't here?" Maya smirked, shaking her head while walking down the stairs, "Thank God" Maya laughed as they said goodbye to the Fields before heading to Noel's to bring in the New Year's. I definitely missed her.
