"Sela, you're the only way to get to them. We have to use you as bait."

"How would that make you different? I know you Callum, you're my brother. You're not going to let this happen." Sela said quietly so that only he could really understand. Well, him and the Doctor if he was listening. As she spoke she carefully pressed down on the little radio she had clutched tightly in her had. It was what snatched from the console just before she'd been transported.

"So, who are these people? Friends of yours? I've never seen them before. I mean, I think I'd remember someone with a tattoos like that or the guy with only a beard. That's not really common is it?" She was rambling and it struck her that even if she couldn't be brilliant, she did seem to have picked up something from the Doctor.

"Sela, please. You're right, I won't let them hurt you but you have to work with me. They are, they were Gadric's men." Callum whispered harshly while pretending to make sure her bindings were tight enough.

The radio in her hand made a low crackling sound and Sela began coughing loudly to cover it. Callum gave her a strange look but thankfully he left it alone. The crackling meant there was something or someone on the other end. "Find me before he does." Sela thought desperately.

The Doctor grinned to himself despite his worry over Sela. Oh, she was clever. He had to keep himself from laughing aloud when she mentioned the man with the beard. Still, if he couldn't make it out of the narrow shaft he was climbing through in time then it wouldn't matter if he had pictures of her captors right in front of him. If only he could figure out why anyone had ever helped Warrick. He wasn't dangerous in the way Gadric had been. In fact, he wasn't really a threat at all if he had no help. He knew what they wanted but why did they want it?

The Doctor squeezed his eyes shut, scrubbing his hand through his hair and pressing against his temple as he climbed. Think, think... Deslo. What do I know about Deslo. Well... it's got the composition an undercooked frozen pizza and it's populated by maniacs, genius' such as it were, and terrified mole people.

That was it; mole people! This bizarre planet had more tunnels running through it than the most impressive ant hill in the universe could boast because that was where they had been forced to live before the shield. If Warrick and Gadric's plan had worked they would have been forced to go back. Warrick wanted them to go back! But, why?

"Is it always this dangerous?" Rose's echo asked in the back of his mind and he couldn't help smiling even as the pain threaded through him.

"Yes, love" He said aloud as he kicked open the end of the shaft and dropped to the ground. "It always is."

He set the sonic screwdriver to locate Sela's radio and took off running. "But maybe not this time."

Warrick was losing patience. He'd been awake for over an hour now and still he was stuck inside a life support chamber. "Where is she? Why haven't you brought her to me yet? This is unacceptable. Rewards are given as they are earned which means your share is growing exponentially less with every second she's not here." Unfortunately for those in the room with him, his words were clear now as they were simply sent from his thoughts through a voice box built into the chamber.

The men in the room looked around during his tirade, focusing their attention on anything to avoid looking at him. Not one man among them could see his eyes giant, glowing eyes barely contained within their sockets without feeling like they were locked up with a nightmare.

"Do you not understand the concept of life or death? She's not just the key to my longevity! Find her or we all die!" The nightmare continued and despite the sickness of it all they felt, they could not argue with that. Two of he remaining four men left the room to find Sela.

"He just doesn't understand, there's no getting into that box so how can we get to her?" One of them asked the other as they walked. The other man shrugged, "Don't know, but at least we stay in his good graces without having to stay in the same room with him. I wonder what he looked like when he wasn't a monster" He answered to which he heard a sharp laugh behind him. They both turned to find themselves facing the Doctor wearing a derisive smile,

"Oh, mate. He was always a monster. Now he's just a petrified one. Look, you two don't seem too keen on your jobs so why not take one from me? All I want is some information. Why is he doing this? That's it. Just tell me why."

"What will you do? Will you kill him?" The first man asked, stepping towards the Doctor.

The machine latched onto the flash of memories the question brought back and his mind flooded with images of the Daleks and the war. The Doctor gritted his teeth. "No. That's not what I do. Not- not anymore." He growled, speaking to the present and past at the same time.

"But, it will be. If we tell you and you end the old man's plan, you're killing him. You're killing us all." The second man told him, ignoring the warning look his friend gave him.

"How? Just tell me! He's got my friend and from the looks of things he's got you all but I can help. I will help you if you just let me!"

"It's very unlikely you can help this but I will help you." The second man told him.

"Mason!" The first man grabbed his shoulder. "You can't!"

"No, Kel, what I can't do is let him kill that girl; Not for this. Can you?"

Kel dropped his hand and shook his head. "If there's a way around it, no. Look, we can lead you to Warrick but that's really all."

"That's enough." The Doctor answered just as the little radio in his pocket crackled to life again,

"Why does this tunnel have blue walls? Is that the ice?" Sela asked someone. He couldn't hear the answer but hopefully it was enough.

"What do you two know about the blue tunnels?" He asked the men.

"That's where we used to keep the food so it wouldn't spoil. It's the furthest down before the prison begins." Kel answered first, clearly relieved that the direction now pointed away from Warrick's meeting room.

"Let's go then, I'll deal with Warrick when she's safe." The Doctor announced and followed his new guides deeper into the maze.
