Hello again, everyone! Here's a new chapter for you all!
Now, I felt really boreed with this chapter. Seriously, how can I continue from THAT!? Jeez, anyway, I felt a little bored with this one, but I hope you enjoy!
I do not own One Piece as that belongs to Eiichiro Oda and Toei.
So far, having one's skin being melted was pretty painful. Emotional and mental wounds were excruciatingly worse, but physical wounds were more intense and sudden.
Being hit by molten rock was second on her list. Back in Impel Down, having poison continually devour every cell in her body while her powers regenerated her sensitive tissue only to be consumed once again topped anything she had ever felt.
But, as she steadily regained consciousness, a sound reached her ears.
Any pain, suffering, torture, or any other describable agony she had ever experienced before paled in comparison to this new-found horror. It sent frigid spikes colder than the ice she laid on into her heart. Her ears rung painfully as the sound only grew worse with time, rising in intensity with every passing second.
Searching through her recent memories had not provided much insight to this terrible cry. Magma glancing off her face was a memory she could do without. Other than that, the only thing she remembered was the look of concern Luff-
Luffy! The words the Fleet Admiral said over the Den Den Mushi! It all came back to her as she tried to get up from her position.
Her face felt as if it was on fire! She put a hand to cover the affected side. Using her other eye, she finally found what had been making that terrible noise.
He was on his knees, his brother was on the ground with a hole through his chest. From the slowly growing red puddle underneath Ace, she could only assume that it was his blood that her captain was covered in.
Luffy was hunched over, screaming. His own blood rushed out of two wounds on his chest. She had seen him obtain the smaller wound back when he blocked Fleet Admiral Sengoku's attack. The larger one was a horrible mess, even from the distance, she could tell that it was a deadly injury.
At the pinnacle of his cries, Luffy stopped abruptly.
Robin felt her weak pulse quicken as she heard the choked gurgles that escaped from his throat.
She tried to get up, only to fall back down hard on the ice. Cursing her body, she saw Luffy gasping for air.
He collapsed on the ground.
Mustering whatever strength that she had left, Robin formed a clone to teleport next to him.
Her powers had been used too much. Every nerve in her body protested the transmission, but the pain was far less than witnessing Luffy's torment.
Robin got to Luffy just as she heard Jinbe cry out in alarm.
The fist of magma that almost obliterated the two Straw Hats was stopped by a man wreathed in blue flames.
"Don't let Straw Hat die! Get him out of here!"
The historian didn't need any encouragement as she ran with Luffy in her arms.
Running was already taking so much out of her, but even now she wasn't given a break. The Marines pushed forward, shooting at her even as the Whitebeard Pirates tried to hold them off.
Robin was pushed to the ground as someone stopped her. She made sure she protected Luffy's body with her own as the blade came down to end her.
The sound of crunching bone and blood falling around her had surprised the woman.
"Robin-chan. Hurry up and keep running!"
She was even more surprised as she looked to see that Hana had spoken to her, and even more when she discovered that the devil was actually removing her arm from the man that tried to attack her.
"What are you waiting for?!" Her usually pleasant tone was replaced by a harsher, more violent plethora of different tones, "Get him out of here!"
Burying her surprise, Robin got up and kept retreating while Hana stood still, watching the Marines come closer.
"You...you all hurt Luffy..." Crossing her arms, the devil glared at her enemies.
"...Unforgivable."
Many of the Marines and pirates alike were stunned by the new fighter that had arrived on the field.
She danced across the ice, and although her dance was simple, it was elegant in its execution.
And as she danced, giant limbs formed as she moved. With a swing of her arm, platoons were sent flying. Every odd step formed a foot that would stomp soldiers into the ground.
Getting close to the woman was even more dangerous. Like turning on a switch, the woman turned monstrous, with arms erupting out of her enemies, her own digging into their flesh and ripping them asunder as she, in her fury, delighted in the slaughter.
Hana felt a similar, although unfamiliar, presence approach her. She felt wrath as she turned to face this unknown assailant.
Darkness. She only saw an all-consuming dark hand shoot towards her, intending on devouring her mind and body.
Her wrath was replaced by fear as she realized that she was too vulnerable. Deciding that she had done enough, she reverted into flower petals just as the hand almost touched her.
"Gah! I missed the bitch by an inch!" The owner of the hand shouted angrily as his hand passed through the disintegrating petals.
"Shoul we pursue them?" One of his men asked, aiming down his sights at Robin and Luffy.
The dark figure grinned.
"Zehaha! No! It doesn't matter!" He turned towards the main island of Marineford.
"She isn't the one I want anyway!"
Marco pushed violently against Akainu, forcing him back to the island as he struggled to maintain his composure.
He had seen everything, and had heard everything! Ace gave his life for his brother! The mark he wore with pride, was sacrificed to save his loved one!
Even if he wasn't a Whitebeard Pirate, Marco regarded Luffy as one of them.
"Whitebeard Pirates! We can't let those two die!" Marco screamed to his family, "If they die, than Ace sacrificed himself in vain!"
"Get out of my way!" Akainu rammed a fist into the 1st Division Commander's side, "Nothing will stop me from taking those two-!"
The Admiral only caught the movement in the corner of his eye. His Kenbunshoku warned him of the oncoming danger from the side, but it had been drowned in the sea of warnings from all of the Whitebeard Pirates. Years of experience had honed the man's sense of danger, but nothing had prepared him for this enemy.
Even if he had many warnings, Akainu was still hit. He was unable to move fast enough to avoid it. His side exploded from the impact and he fell to the ground in pain.
Whitebeard stood over him. His body visibly vibrating, sending ripples of force through the earth and air.
The Admiral didn't stay down for long. He knew the threat! Whitebeard may have been strong, but he was weakened by age! A dying man from a dying era!
With a roar, Akainu rose up and tore half of Whitebeard's face off.
The "Strongest Man in the World" didn't even flinch. He grabbed Akainu's head with one hand and lifted him up.
Vibrations started to break bone and jellify his flesh! He couldn't just let these pirates think they could stop him!
Akainu shoved a fist in Whitebeard's chest, burning through flesh and bone. He continued to push as much magma as he could in Whitebeard's body.
Even with his fatal wounds, Whitebeard disregarded his injuries and let the Admiral go.
With a speed that the magmaman couldn't comprehend, the same fist crashed into his side.
Cracks formed in the air, the ground started to split, and the Marine Base broke in half as Akainu was hit with an attack that could shatter islands.
Before his consciousness faded and he fell into the trench Whitebeard had created, Akainu was shocked to see the monstrous strength that the older man had.
Whitebeard heard his many sons cry out at the loss of Ace and himself, but he couldn't turn away and just leave.
His life would end here! His sons would live to see another day, and they would all-!
"Was I...a good father...?"
"..T..The...The Best...!"
The old pirate grunted in rage and brought his hand back. When he punched the air in front of him, the sky splintered and tremors shook the island.
"..H-Hey! What's that behind headquarters!?"
"Oh no...! They found me..!"
Whitebeard saw a giant even bigger than Oars Jr. attempting to hide behind the Marineford Marine Base, but he was too massive. He barely covered his body behind the tall building.
"That's not all...! Look towards the execution platform!"
"Zehahahaha! It's been a long time, Pops!" A voice filled with vile mirth shouted at him.
A growl escaped the quakeman's throat.
"Teach..."
After Hana's intervention, Robin had no real opposition with support from the Whitebeard Pirates. Her body still ached, but she could stand a little pain for now.
She had seen Whitebeard's attack on Akainu. Hoping the man had finally died, Robin thought about Luffy's condition.
It was bad. All of his injuries were deadly. The hole in his chest was the worse, and she only suspected that his Devil Fruit had enabled him to survive. Worry filled her heart as she questioned the trauma he had just gone through.
His brother had died in his arms. She couldn't fathom his pain, but from what she had seen as she witnessed his fall, he might never recover from this.
Robin feared that her captain would be crippled by this. The man that had saved her from her own past should have had to bear this pain.
Her worries were interrupted as the ground rumbled underneath her feet. Running faster than she should have, she narrowly avoided getting blasted by a column of magma.
"As I said..! I Won't let you get away!"
The historian knew that there was no way to fight the Admiral. Even if he looked gravely wounded, he could kill her with only his magma. A few meteors were launched at her, exploding against the ice as she did her best to avoid them.
"Don't you dare harm them!"
A few of the meteors were knocked away with a sudden gust. Akainu himself was knocked back as Jinbe struck his magma body.
"Jinbe! You know my power, so why do you continue to resist!?"
"My life is already worthless! I have failed to save Ace...but I won't let you harm these two! Even if it costs me my life!"
"So be it! Prepare yourself, Jinbe!"
Akainu shot towards the fishman, but the former Shichibukai was ready. With one punch, the magmaman was blown into pieces.
Jinbe only then noticed the hole in the ground.
Desperately rushing to the still fleeing Robin, Jinbe sensed Akainu's attack.
As the Admiral burst from the ground, Jinbe pushed Robin out of the way and tried to use his body to shield the Straw Hats.
The magma mercilessly burned through his body. Jinbe heard a muffled scream, and he turned his head to see that Robin's leg had been melted.
"How foolish...don't you know what you're protecting, Jinbe?! You think they're human?! They're monsters! Engineered for our own benefit!" Akainu approached the now kneeling Jinbe, watching as the fishman tried to protect his two charges.
"Haa...the one...who's a monster...is you, Akainu!" Jinbe panted in pain. His own blood was rushing through the new hole in his side.
"You claim...that what you do is...Justice! How is this Justice!? You're attacking...a helpless young woman...and a heavily injured man!"
"As I said! Foolish!" Akainu started to circle around Jinbe. He tried to follow, but he was to injured to move to intercept.
"Not only are they ours, not only are they pirates, but their very existence is a sin!"
"Who..who are you to decide this!?"
"Justice!" Jinbe's eyes widened as Akainu rose a fist into the air, preparing to strike down Robin as she protected Luffy.
"Stop! Don't you have any sense?! Any compassion or morality?!"
"Why would I discuss human morality," Akainu glared at Jinbe before turning back to his prey.
"with a damn fish!?"
Sengoku struggled to hold Garp down, having to resort to his Devil Fruit abilities after Straw Hat Luffy started crying loudly. Garp roared with enormous rage at that time, and Sengoku feared that Garp would get away.
He was not only known as a "Hero", but as a "Demon".
His large golden hand had pushed his friend into the ground, but even now he was shaking!
Garp must not be allowed to do what he wanted! He could kill him after this was over, but Straw Hat Luffy and Nico Robin needed to be stopped!
And unfortunately, it seemed that death was a much quicker solution than capture.
But as the two watched Akainu cripple Jinbe and approach the two Straw Hats, Garp ceased to struggle.
"Hey...Sengoku..." The Fleet Admiral knew that this was merely the calm before the storm. His friend was always too overemotional, but his calmness scared him.
"...What was her name...?
"What?!"
Garp stayed silent for a moment, as if he was growing impatient that Sengoku didn't know who he was referring to.
"...What was my great granddaughter's name...?"
Sengoku winced and used his other arm to support the one holding Garp down.
"She...her name was Experiment 1."
"She was never given a name."
"...Ah...is that so...?"
The overwhelmingly powerful Haoshoku that Garp possessed exploded from the man, causing Sengoku's fears to become reality.
"WE'RE NO LONGER...FRIENDS!"
Before Akainu could deliver the final blow, a tremendous shockwave shook through the area and the Admiral felt a fearsome presence behind him.
Never before had he felt such fear! Even the Straw Hat brat's aura didn't instil this amount of terror in him!
He turned his head to see the man's white coat, billowing in the wind due to the speed it had traveled at.
A black fist crashed into his face.
Even Whitebeard's attack had not been this painful! It shot not only through his head, but through his entire body!
His ears were filled with the roar of the monster that had hit him. It was nearly deafening to the man as he flew to the side.
He managed to hear the many Marines call out his name, but he caught the name that followed his.
Garp.
Monkey D. Garp stood in front of the three pirates as Akainu crashed into the ice. He didn't move, but the Vice-Admiral knew that it would have been a miracle if he had died.
"...Garp!" Jinbe muttered out in disbelief. He had never thought that this man would be the one to help them.
Robin stared at the man who had helped them out.
"...These hands..." The Vice-Admiral lifted his fists, not to him, but to Robin, "These hands have shed so much blood...all in the name of Justice..."
"I became strong...to protect my family. So much blood have stained my knuckles that I could drown in the amount that they have spilled!"
"But now...the only blood that I can see on these hands...is that of my family's...the one's I swore to protect, are the ones that I hurt..." He clenched his fists as he sighed and turned away.
"Get him out of here. Take him somewhere...not here. Somewhere safe."
The historian slowly nodded her head and looked down at the stump where her leg had been.
With visible effort and pain, a leg erupted from her flesh. Panting, she stood up with Luffy in her arms.
"Garp...san?"
The Vice-Admiral only showed that he was listening by tilting his head to look back at her.
"I...I believe you're making the right decision..." Robin hesitantly said, unsure why he had told her that.
Garp snorted.
"It's something I should have done a long time ago...now get going!" He growled out before rushing back to the main island.
Whitebeard stood still as he arrived. The man was glaring at his former underling, Marshall D. Teach.
"Out of all the people here...you were the one I did not expect to have a change of heart, Garp!"
"Tsk! You know, I always thought that one day you would realize the error of your ways, and retire somewhere, Newgate!"
The pirate grunted a little.
"What changed your mind?"
Garp stayed silent as he glared at his enemies.
Marshall D. Teach was the one that had arrested Ace in the first place, and he had his crew.
The Marines and Sengoku would be against him too.
His only ally was a dying old man who looked like he would fall over from all the wounds he had. He was missing half of his face!
"...I've lived too long, Newgate. Back then, we really were trying to bring peace to the sea, but now...I've lived long enough to see my own side become the villain."
"You just never saw it, Garp."
Whitebeard clenched his fist and slowly walked towards Teach.
"Don't interfere in my battle, Garp! This is a matter between the Whitebeard Pirates!"
Garp only grinned and turned to Sengoku.
"That's fine with me!"
Hope you enjoyed! Let me know what you think!
I'm very iffy on the ending of this chapter. It was very...well, I said I was bored. Don't have that much to do now except kill Whitebeard off and the last pursuit of Akainu.
