It was a long, dark and cold ride to the Fire Nation, the wind whipped around them as they flew. Tenzin sat up on Oogi's neck, controlling the bison as Bolin sat curled up by the front of the saddle, Asami on his right, looking over at vast clouds. Mako sat quietly to the side, his back leaning against the saddle, his arms crossed on his chest, scarf wrapped around his neck, his head hanging low.

Next to Mako, Korra laid down, her back turned to him, her head gently resting on her bent elbow. She wore her parka but yet her body still shivered from the breeze. She pulled her legs up and curled her face into her baggy pants, closing her eyes and trying to catch a bit of rest before they arrived. She had taken her hair bands out for a bit, allowing her hair to fall in waves over her shoulders, framing her face.

She laid still, but her mind buzzed wildly, constantly making her stir from her slumber. It has been about two weeks since Mako and her officially broke it off and she knows she, or he, will never fully be over it. The way his voice seemed weak whenever he spoke to her, how his eyes darted to look at her whenever he thought she wasn't looking. Her small attempts at trying to catch his attention with actions... how his face would always turn a bit red whenever she walked into the room.

But it was over.

It was official. They were no longer a couple, and her everything hurt. Her chest tightened and when she blinked, a single tear dripped down her dark cheek. She let it linger there instead of wiping it away, knowing her feelings were real, knowing she couldn't stand to be without him. Wiping the tear felt like wiping away her emotions.

Against her will, she sniffed and then stiffened, afraid someone heard her. A light shuffling sound came from behind her, then a hand connected to her should and his voice followed, making her close her eyes once more.

"Korra?" Mako's voice sounded so small. "Are you alright?"

She cleared her throat awkwardly. "Yeah, I'm fine." She curled more in on herself, her body shivering more from the cold and her held in feelings. He couldn't see her like this, not after two weeks of being so well held together.

Suddenly a warmness engulfed her and an arm snaked around her waist. Her body tensed and her breath caught in her throat, eyes darting open. Her mouth opened to speak but then she closed it, realizing just how much she missed this. Missed his warmth, his smell. They way his face fit perfectly by her neck, his small breaths tickling her skin.

Noticing she wasn't breathing, Korra exhaled, her body completely relaxing against his. His arm tightened and he softly leaned forward, his nose brushing up just behind her ear.

As if caught up in the moment, Korra's hand moved up and found his in the darkness, fingers frozen. They weaved together and lightly lit a small flame that only they could see and feel. The tiny heat slowly seeping up their fingers till they could feel it in their chests.

It was a promise.

A tiny promise that would be apart of them forever.
