What the fudge? I haven't updated since Oct 28, 2014 ? I need to get back on this! Espeically since I want to work on Pre-Pains soon and still workout a sequel to this story.
Let's get a move on this, my lovely friends.
Ryder woke up first the following morning, which rarely ever happened in the house. He had only gotten two and a half hours of sleep since he was comforting Marley all night. He looked down at his pregnant wife and saw her serene sleeping body breathing in and out softly. He understood the stress she was under with her weight and pregnancy, but he literally does wish most days he could take off her baby belly and carry it himself. That would make things a lot easier.
Ryder got up and out of the bed. He showered and went down the stairs to start making breakfast for Marley and himself, cereal and toast. Hopefully she will eat the food. After the party lady night and what happened when she came home, Ryder didn't know how long Marley would last in this pregnancy. He was worried something would happen because of any health reasons.
A while Marley woke up and came down. She looked a lot better than she did mere hours ago, sobbing and crying. She took the toast with jelly on it and ate quietly next to Ryder. She didn't mean what she said last night. She loved being pregnant. She just hated gaining weight.
"Ryder?"
"Hmm?" He asked her.
"I love you." She said.
"Love you too." He said. "You okay from last night?"
Marley nodded faintly.
"That's good." Ryder leaned in and kissed her cheek. "When I'm on break today I'll look in the ads for a job."
"Okay." Marley said as she finished her toast.
A few hours later Marley finished her sandwich. She did pretty good today; considering she doesn't want to gain weight at all. She felt baby kicking her a few times but when she ate but nothing else much. Hell she was bored at work all day too.
When she finished work she drove around mindlessly for a while. Ryder wouldn't be home for a few hours, she thought, so Marley kept to herself by driving around. She pulled over and got a smoothie. She sat at one of the outside tables alone and saw a bunch of skinny women with young children as old as at least a year old. How did they do that?
She got depressed again in a minute. She looked down at her own baby belly and placed her hand there. She smiled and rubbed her belly with her hand hoping her child was sleeping now.
Screw her emotions right now. Why can't she just be fully happy in her pregnancy? It's a miracle she's pregnant. Why was she so sad most days?
Will I lose my dignity
Will someone care
Will I wake tomorrow
From this nightmare?
"Crap...did I really compare my pregnancy to a nightmare?" She asked herself.
When Marley got home she saw that Ryder was already home and inside. Marley opened the door and walked in, calling for Ryder. "Ryder?"
"Marley?" He called from upstairs.
"Hi Ryder." She called.
Ryder emerged from the stairs carrying down a box. "Hey," He leaned in and kissed her lips. "I found some of these old movies upstairs in the attic that we stores up when we first moved in."
"Movie night?"
"Yep." Ryder put the box down on the living room floor and then took Marley's hand and brought her to the kitchen. Marley found the table set romantically with lit candles. "And a nice dinner first."
"What for?" Marley asked.
"Good news today." Ryder said.
"What is it?"
"Tell you over dinner," Ryder said.
"No tell me now!" Marley yelled. "Is it good or bad?"
"Awesome." Ryder said.
"Tell me."
"Fine. Okay, ready?" She nodded. "I got an interview with the manager of Little Town Ohio." Ryder smiled.
"Little Town Ohio? That is awesome news!" Marley cheered. Little Town Ohio was a an excellent newspaper, even better than the one Ryder had worked for already, but she had heard that Little Town Ohio was a hard newspaper to get any sort of job in. Even getting a job as a janitor was hard to be accepted into at the newspaper. Or even get some sort of interview with someone, usually the one applying has had to have a couple of years working in a newspaper. "How did you get into the interview job?"
"Well I added in that resume that I worked for the college newspapers and interned at some big New York ones in college and I guess that paid off." Ryder said. "I would have the same position that I did at the other newspaper, but better pay and hours too."
"Oh my God Ryder, that is amazing! I'm so happy!" Marley had happy tears down her face as she and Ryder embraced one another again. "That's amazing!"
"I know it is." Ryder told her. "Well I haven't gotten the job yet, but I have a great feeling about the whole thing. I have an interview on the seventeenth at three with Sydney Garner."
"That's wonderful." Marley said. She placed her hands on the sides of his cheek and pulled him into a kiss on the lips. "I love you."
"I love you," Ryder said.
Maybe there was new hope in their little family.
