Color of Your Soul
Update: Inverted Colors
AN: Okay first things first, I must apologize for how FUCKING LATE I am with the recent updates. Pretty sure I last updated sometime in March and here we are now in May. Because my USB drive got corrupted, so I had to format it, meaning I lost ALL MY CHAPTERS, I have absolutely nothing. Fortunately, this site also acts like a back-up and I can just download the stories and regain all the chapters that got corrupted with my USB, but this also means the newest chapters I was supposed to update are gone (Pride of Your Soul Chp. 13, Fidelity Chp. 5, and Platinum Witch Chp. 3). So I have to rewrite all of them all over again, so once again, I'm very sorry! Please bear with me as I recreate these chapters for you all to enjoy.
Yeah I feel REALLY bad, considering Fidelity was on hold since like what, January? Basically a very long time. On the bright side, I just finished college (this year at least), which was kinda where I had to invest like 85% of my time to, so now I have some more free time back, meaning that hopefully it shouldn't take super long (unless yknow something else stupid decides to happen).
As for this? Oh no this isn't another Extra Chapter for CoYS; it's done. This is, however, an excerpt of sorts.
Seeing as how all this shit happened, I decided to post an update on the current situation (and explain why I seemingly abandoned Fidelity and Platinum Witch) and to let you all know I'm still alive and haven't abandoned my stories, and currently sad and annoyed that the USB that lasted for ten years now finally decided to hit the bucket and take everything with it. Well it's also my fault for not making a back-up just in case this happened, but I digress.
However I thought a simple update would be boring, and I was going to originally place it in PoYS, but then I remembered that Black and White are parallel universes to each other, and so this concept came into mind: an AU of CoYS, based off of Pokemon Black as opposed to how the original was based off of White. So I basically rewrote a scenario from CoYS with all the AU factors applied, attached an update notice, threw it here instead and BAM! This happened. Now to see how this works out.
What's different, you may ask? Well...
"So how is it? Tastes good, right?" Hilbert asked, taking a bite out of some sweet bread as he shared the rest with his team.
The small rodent-like Pokémon with large pointed ears shaped like a V with large blue eyes and small angelic wings agreed as he happily munched on the bread the human provided him.
"-Mmhmm!-" the rodent nodded as he continued to chow down.
"Well that's good to hear," Hilbert chuckled.
"-...So this is the mythical Pokémon, 'Victini', huh...-" Dewott muttered, glancing at said Pokémon rather skeptically as he twirled one of his shells around. "-Y'know I was kinda expecting something more...badass...like a large, super awesome otter.-"
"-Doubt it,-" Excadrill shrugged as he ripped a piece of bread.
"-Hey it has to be a mythical Pokémon for a reason,-" Archen said as he swallowed his piece of bread whole.
"-So Mister, you can understand me?-" Victini asked curiously.
"Pretty much," Hilbert smiled. "I can understand what you're saying right now."
"-That's really cool!-" Victini responded with starry eyes.
"I guess you could say that," Hilbert said, placing a finger on his forehead scar and gently sliding it downwards.
"-So, Mister,-" Victini began.
"Call me 'Hilbert'," Hilbert said.
"-Okay then, 'Hilbert',-" Victini said. "-Are you with those other guys in the outdated outfits?-"
Dewott couldn't help but break out a snicker, while Hilbert scratched the back of his head.
"Well, yeah," he muttered. "I'm with the guys with the 'outdated outfits'."
"-Hey he's got a point,-" Dewott snickered. "-Like who the hell dresses up like that nowadays?-"
Hilbert grumbled something under his breath as he glanced down to his own uniform; his own sleeveless white robe over black tank top and pants with black bandages wrapped around his forearms. Was his as 'outdated' as the standard Plasma uniform too?
"-But you have a really cool outfit though,-" Victini said, cocking his head slightly to the side rather cutely.
...Okay so he didn't have that much horrible fashion sense. Good.
"A person's outfits doesn't define who they are," Hilbert chuckled nervously.
"-So...are you a bad guy?-" Victini asked somewhat hesitantly.
"...Well, I guess I'm 'technically' a bad guy," Hilbert admitted, but then saw Victini slightly shift back in slight nervousness. "...But I'm kinda different."
"-'Kinda'?-" Victini asked, confused.
"Sure I work with the bad guys, but it's not like we're really evil. Or at least I'd like to think I'm not evil," Hilbert replied, his expression becoming much more solemn. "Believe me, I don't agree with their methods at all, but I have my reasons to 'have' to help them out for now."
"-Reasons?-" Victini asked.
"Yep, reasons," Hilbert nodded. "Reasons that make it so I can't just simply go against them without...suffering consequences...Consequences I don't want to happen at all costs. If I was stronger, then maybe I could stop calling myself a bad guy...and try to play the hero. Not sure if I'm fit to play the role of a 'hero' though..."
"-You can totally be the hero!-" Victini insisted. "-I mean you're really nice, and you gave me food, and you have really strong friends with you too!-"
"-Well isn't that flattering, and totally true,-" Dewott smirked.
"-Don't inflate your ego here,-" Excadrill sighed, smacking Dewott on the back of the head.
"Hehe, I guess my friends are strong," Hilbert chuckled. "...But, they aren't enough, sadly. We're still weak when compared to the grander scheme of things. We need more power. Enough so that we can stop a certain thorn in my side permanently...enough so that we can give a certain friend a chance at a normal life...and perhaps, enough to be able to laugh and smile and live peacefully with her again..."
All the Pokémon glanced at Hilbert, who looked more melancholic and sad now. While Excadrill and Archen didn't know who Hilbert was talking about, Dewott already knew who was who in Hilbert's monologue. Meanwhile Victini glanced at Hilbert, almost sympathetically.
"That's...kinda why I came here today," Hilbert admitted softly. "I was wondering if you would like to join my party."
"-Huh? Me?-" Victini asked.
"The Victory Pokémon...at least 200 years ago, a millionaire bought the island itself to create the room we're in now..." Hilbert explained. "So that you could be hidden...so that your powers couldn't be abused...Such power...I want to make sure they don't get ahold of you and abuse your powers for their own purposes. Which is why I'd like you on my side."
Hilbert held out his palm, which had am empty pokéball in it.
"I came here to obtain the power you possess that labeled you as 'mythical'," Hilbert said. "Together, we can finally put the pointless strife and settle everything."
Victini glanced at the pokéball. Choosing to join him would mean that he would be a part of the group that Hilbert called the 'bad guys'. That would make him a 'bad guy' too.
But then again...Hilbert was nice.
He gave him food. He had a friendly conversation with him. He admitted that he knew he was a bad guy, yet wants to change.
Maybe with his help, Hilbert wouldn't have to look so sad anymore.
...The Victory Pokémon made his decision, as he nodded at Hilbert, before pressing the button on Hilbert's pokéball. The device then proceeded to absorb Victini in a red light, shook three times before flashing briefly, signifying that Hilbert had caught Victini.
"...Thank you," Hilbert said to Victini's pokéball. "I promise that I won't let them harm you whatsoever."
Hilbert's party smiled, glad that the mission had succeeded and for their trainer's happy look, and proceeded to head to the door. However, Dewott sensed something, and readied his weapons. Hilbert noticed Dewott's sudden change, and put Victini's pokéball away.
"It would seem that we have a guest," Hilbert said, glancing to the door expectantly.
The door busted open, where another familiar Dewott with a familiarly different color palette assaulted Hilbert's Dewott. Both Water-types clashed Razor Shells, refusing to back down.
"-Oh hey there, you pussy!-" Dewott taunted.
"-You...!-" Shiny Dewott hissed in anger.
Hilbert recognized the shiny dewott, before glancing to the door, as a familiar girl, accompanied by a pawniard and a tirtouga, wearing a familiar white tank shirt underneath black waist coat and pair of denim shorts, with the familiarly large ponytail. The girl slightly lifted her white-and-pink hat, and glanced at Hilbert with gleaming, devious blue eyes, devilish smile, and a flushed expression.
"...Well, we meet again," Hilbert replied, his tone as neutral as he can make it.
"Yes we have...Hilbert..." Hilda replied, pronouncing his name rather sweetly.
To be continued, someday...
AN: So for starters in this AU, everyone's favorite psychopath Hilda is the pragmatic protagonist, and everyone's favorite cosmic plaything Hilbert is taking up her role as the not-as-insane elite admin of Team Plasma. Basically Hilbert and Hilda swapped roles, stemming from how CoYS would've been if Hilda had been the one Roy saved instead of Hilbert, and all the machinations that occur because Unova's hero is now the girl with the questionable morals and sanity, as opposed to it being the boy with a lot of bad luck but better morals and sanity, who's now the bad guy, evidently.
So what do you think of this little snippet of a possible AU retelling of CoYS? Interested? Love it? Hate it?
Does this mean I'm going to make a CoYS AU? Well not now, seeing as how I'm juggling three stories. I just wanted to put this idea out there and see what you guys think. Maybe in the future if you guys actually are interested in seeing something like this and after I actually finish a story or two before doing something else.
Will this replace CoYS? No, it's just an AU version. If I were to have to place all my Pokemon stories into one giant canon (which I apparently like to do nowadays), CoYS is and will always be the canonical BW retelling.
Anyways, I'm out of here, thanks for stopping by, hope you understand, and I'll see you all hopefully soon.
