A.N.- A lot of these words were changed. For those of you who haven't guessed, I use a one-word generator to decide what to write next (it may take a while before a word catches my eye). For the first word(s), I got one and then the other which sparked the idea so I just put down them both. War is short, but I wanted to challenge myself to make a one-sentence shot as well as I could for the subject (which the idea I got was my girlfriend's). And Salty was... Salt. Yeah. I'm suuuupper creative that way.

Thank you wolfemutt, PYLON-MASTER, Lunawolfknight, and silentmusic16! I'm so happy that people still like this.

Party/Palace

The lights hurt Naoto's eyes, putting her in a grumpy mood (though anyone who knew her could make the statement that she was always grumpy at parties). To apply more to her temper, she was forced in a dress (which was uncomfortable), she had to keep a mask on (despite everyone knowing who she was), and men kept approaching her.

To at least have some form of positive emotion, she stayed against the back wall as much as she could (it was hard, due to the court's members trying to pull her out and show her possible suitors) and figured out who everyone was behind their masks.

It wasn't long before she put names to everyone, shocking newcomers who approached her by merely saying their name.

If it weren't for the mask, she bet that her eyes would have rolled right out of her head by the time she managed to escape.

Taking a deep breath of the night air, Naoto let her political politeness fade as she scowled at the moon.

"It would be a shame if you keep doing that. Frowns ruin even the most perfect face," the light voice giggled, making Naoto turn around to meet it with a startled expression.

Her widened eyes caught sight of brown and black, not doubt this mask was to be used for something more than just the masquerade. The thief grinned as she spotted Naoto's surprise. "Don't worry, I'm not here for you~" She teased, making Naoto's surprise shift into seriousness.

"I suppose you're after the riches of this manor?" Naoto's question nearly came off as a growl, making the thief's grin widen as she clapped her gloved hands.

"Very good! I'm surprised that you've come to that conclusion!" Even though the thief's jab made it to Naoto's ears, she chuckled.

"Then you're in for a bigger surprise, Rise Kujikawa." Now it was time for the thief to be off guard, allowing Naoto to take a more relaxed yet professional pose.

"H-how did you?"

"I've been after you and your little band of thieves for a while now, Kujikawa. I was not surprised at all that you were here, just surprised that you came to me instead of your target." Rise resisted the urge to pout, no doubt hating the fact that another force was after her team. "Now then, since you're already here, I'm going to cut to the point." Naoto pulled out her concealed weapon and pointed it towards Rise. "Tell me the reason why."

"Why?"

"Yes; surely money shouldn't be the reason, unless you and Amagi wanted even more. But I find that to be a flimsy excuse." The two stood in silence, Rise unnerved from how much Naoto knew and Naoto herself waiting for what Rise would say or do.

The clock tower behind them shook the air with its calling of midnight, making Rise jump slightly and Naoto sigh.

"It looks like your plan went smoothly; you should met up with your thieves." Rise blinked as Naoto put away her weapon and turned to go back into the party.

"Y-you're just going to let me go? Just like that?" Naoto paused in her stride as Rise's voice cracked a little in disbelief.

"I'm not "letting you go". I'm waiting." Rise's unsaid question was soon answered, "I'm waiting for you all to become infamous." Naoto left soon after, words failing her as her throat grew dry.

'I need a big case. And if they won't give me one, I'll just have to wait until this one builds."

War

Naoto never saw who was on the other side of the radio and Rise lamented as she gave the famous pilot directions to a fight she knew Naoto couldn't win.

Salty

"I am not." A raised eyebrow made Naoto huff. "I'm really not, Rise."

"Are you sure~" The idol tested her girlfriend's patience with a poke, which Naoto responded to by grabbing her finger. "Aww, c'mon~ The only reason I'm any good at this is because I play with you all the time." The detective gave a complex look with a sigh.

"I know. But I still can't help but feel wronged dying like that." Naoto's frustration seemed to be fading as Rise's eyes widened before she smirked.

The idol was quick, shifting into Naoto's lap while still facing her, a hand resting on the detective's boyish face.

"Well, if you feel like that, how about we play another game~?"

Rise was sure that her hand would've caught fire with all the heat that made its way to Naoto's face.

While the detective was left a blushing mess, Rise giggled.

"Sorry Nao~ I couldn't he-"

Now she was left speechless with Naoto's lips pressed against hers.
