Chapter 36 - Ruined Plans

"Bones come on or we are going to be late!" Pulling her hair into a pony tail and making sure she had everything Bones walked out of his bedroom and down the narrow hallway. "Booth its not my fault that your children didn't agree with the eggs you fixed for breakfast this morning. I told you that the smell of eggs cooking makes me nasuous." Grabbing the keys by the table and opening the front door for her Booth said, " I k now Bones but the last few times I chanced it you were ok. How was I suppose to know it would affect you now. I mean its like a hit or miss. Today it was a miss." Turning to look at him as they entered the elevator he heard as the door closed, "I don't know what that means." Smiling and shaking his head he pulled her into an embrace and said, "I'm sorry the eggs made you sick. I'll only cook them when you not there ok?" He kissed her temple gently and gave her shoulders a slight squeeze. Looking up at him she smiled back and said "Thank you Booth."

Arriving at the doctors office Booth went to take a seat while Bones signed in and then came over to join him. Booth was looking down at his phone and Bones was observing the other patients in the office when she noticed a woman watching Booth with to much interest. Feeling possessive and jealousy all of a sudden she put her hand on his thigh and leaned over into his space and said, "I am 18 weeks now, its a possiblity they will be able to determine gender, would you like to know what we are having?" Looking up at her he smiled so wide it looked like it hurt, "Yeah Bones that would be great. Then we will know what to buy, pick names, Oh wait do you want to know what we're having?" He placed his hand on her stomach as he looked into her eyes. "I want to know also..."Just then the receptionist called them back. Booth stood up and then offered her his hand to help her up which she took and looked the other patient in the eye smirked leaned up and kissed him on the lips, "Thank you Booth." Booth caught that little act of alfph female at work. He just shock his head and kept walking. 'When is Bones going to get it. I only have eyes for her.' He was aware of the other woman watching him from the moment he walked through the door.

Bones was sitting in her office looking at the picture of her sonogram when she heard Angela coming into her office. Quickly she put the picture under a stack of papers she had in front of her, unfortunely for her Angela noticed and said "Bren what are you doing?" In a slightly irritiated tone she replied, "I'm working Anglea. Is there anything I can help you with?" Looking at her best friend through narrowed eyes, Anglea rubbed her belly and said, " actually I wanted to know if you would like to go baby shopping for with me on Saturday, I want to pick up a few things for this little guy."

"I won't be available on Saturday. I am going with Booth and Parker to look at houses. I can go with you this evening or on Sunday."

"Oh, you and studly are buying a house together? That's great Bren. Where are you looking?"

"I'm not buying a house with Booth. He is buying a house and he just wants my help. Since this is his week with Parker he's also going."

"Wow! I thought Booth would have talked you into living together by now. I mean you guys are practically living together anyway. It would seem it would be easier to do it from one location instead of two. But hey you two always find a way to complicate things."

"Was there anything else Anglea"

"Dr. Brennan, your assistance is needed on the platform"

Bones looked at the door to one of her interns and said, " I'll be right there."

Getting up and putting on her lab coat she walked out of her office and went to the platform. With Angela comment rolling over in her head about her and Booth complicating things she forget she left the sonogram on her desk.

Angela turned around and looked towards the platform and saw that Bones was deep to work on the remains with her interns walked over to Bones desk and looked under the stack of papers and saw the sonogram with Bones name and the date printed in the corner. Now hormonal Angela feeling like its the ulitmate betrayal committed against her, marched up to the platform with the sonogram in her hand and went to Bones and said, "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? I AM YOUR BEST FRIEND AND YOU DIDN'T HAVE THE DECENTCY TO INFORM ME ON WHAT WAS GOING ON."

Without looking up and use to her friends mood swings Bones said, I don't know what your talking about Angela but unless it has something to do with what I'm working on right now I don't have time for another one of your outburst."

Fuming from the dismissal she continued her rant, "WELL IF YOU WOULD LOOK UP AND PAY ATTENTION YOU WILL SEE WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. WHEN WERE YOU GOING TO TELL ME YOU ARE PREGNANT BRENNAN?"

Just then Booth had reached the platform steps when he heard the end of Angela's rant and looked over at Bones to gauge her reaction. ' What the hell is going on her he thought.'

Cam and Hodgins looked at each other and then at Booth before all three turned to look at Bones.

Bones look up when she heard the word prengnat come out of Angela's mouth. Taking off her gloves and tossing them in the trash, Bones stepped in front of Angela snatched her sonogram from her and through clenched teeth and tears in her eyes said, "Who the hell do you think you are? What goes on in my private life is my business and not yours. I am not required to tell you every fucking thing. Cam is one of Booth's best friends, she values their friendship and she respects their boundries, why don't you? Contrary to what you may believe Angela, I don't answer to you. You had no right to go through my things." Turning to her interns she told them to finish up and she expected the report on their findings by the end of the day. Walking past every one she went to her office and slammed the door.

"Angela what was that all about" said Booth who had started up the steps when Cam put her hand on his arm and told him to go and check on Bones. Looking at Angela once more he left the platform and went to Bones office.

"I want to see you in your office right now." Cam said in anger. "Everybody get back to work right now. If I hear anymore about what just happened here I will send you home without pay and take you off of rotation for the next month." Turning she went to Angela 's office with Angela and Hodgins following her. Once they entered the office Hodgins closed the door behind him. "Do you mind telling me what the hell all of that was about?

"Cam my best friend is pregnant and she didn't tell me. That's not what friends do. How dare she not share that with me. I told her about mine. We share everything important in our lives that what friends do. Damnit! Do I have to teach her everything for..." At that very moment they heard a gasp and saw Booth and Bones standing at the door. Cam and Hodgins could see the anger in Booth eyes and the hurt in Bones. She turned towards Booth and said, "Will you take me home?" Without waiting for him to reply she didn't bother to turn around and face the others, she just said over her shoulder, " Cam the interns have enough work to last them until the end of the business today. I'm going home. If you need me please call."She walked out of the room, and went to retrieve her belongings.

"Hodgins, keep...Bones need time and space right now. Do you understand what I'm telling you?"

"Booth"

"NO! Angela this is bullshit at its finest! You had no right whatsoever."

"Come on Dude really?" Hodgins said as he stepped up next to his wife.

"Do you know what happened Hodgins? Do you? Did you know your wife walked into Bones office saw her looking at something private and put it under a stack of papers, then waited until Bones was called out to help the interns, went snooping in things that was none of her fucking busniess and then announced to the whole damn lab something that didn't concern her. So yeah dude really back the fuck off."

"Angela you use the term best friend loosely. You were what 18 weeks when you and Hodgins took me, Bones and Cam out to lunch to let us in our your little secret right? RIGHT!"

"Yes"

"Bones is 18 weeks today. You just robbed her of the opportunity to share her news with her family and friends. You and Hodgins choose who you were going to tell and when, you just told everyone. Best friends tell each other everything right so why didn't you tell Bones you were pregnant before you made the announcement to the rest of us. She should have known right after Hodgins. And she doesn't need to be taught how to be a friend maybe its you that needs the lesson."

"Cam I'll call you later. I need to get her home."

"Angela, you went through her things?"

"Hodgins it wasn't like that exactly?"

"Then how was it... exactly Angela? Help us understand." said Hodgins.

"I went to Bren's office to ask her if she would like to go shopping with me this weekend and as soon as I walked into the office she stuffed something under a stack of papers and when I asked her what she was doing she said she was working. I forgot about it until she left the office and then I went to get a peak of what she was hiding and I saw the sonogram and …. OH MY GOD...TWINS!"

"Twin what?"

"Bren is pregnant with twins"

"Which could be why wasn't ready to talk about it yet. One child is a lot to deal with but finding out she's pregnant with twins could be overwhelming for her. I agree with Booth on this one Hodgins. Angela you need to give her some time and space. You two were just getting back on even ground and then you pull this. Don't you remember how happy you were when you told everyone you were having a baby. You just robbed her of that experience. I don't understand you at all. I knew something was going on with Booth, but I was waiting for him to come to me. I knew something has been off for about two months but I would have waited until he was ready for me to know. It wasn't my job to snoop and then blab it to everyone." After Cam spoke her peace she left the two of them in the office and went back to her own.

Parker and Bones was curled up on the couch watching a movie when they heard the door bell. "I got it you two just relax"

"Booth"

"Max"

Booth stepped to the side and entered into the apartment and went into the living room. As soon as he stepped in the room he said, "Is it true Tempe? I mean I would think that I as your father would have been told persoanlly. I know that I..."

"Dad what are you talking about?"

"You being pregnant. I went to see you this afternoon and someone came up to me and congratulated me on becoming a grandfather to twins."

Bones looked at Booth and then back to her father to reply when Parker stood up and went into his room and slammed the door.

"Fuck this is just one nightmare after another." said Booth

"Parker...bud come one and open the door please."

"I don't understand Tempe what is going on? Why is it your friends know before your father."

"Max leave it alone would you? Bones and I had a doctors appointment today and then we were going to have a dinner and make the damn announcement. But her nosey friend went snooping in her office and found the sonogram and announced it in front of the whole lab. Now you just came and told my son. Fuck why can't you people just mind their fucking business." Booth went into his room to get his lock picking kit so he could get into Parkers room.

"Honey I'm sorry. I didn't know you guys haven't told anyone. I thought you were just trying to punish me for what I did all those years ago. You know."

"Everything is not about you. What is it with you and Angela thinking that everything is suppose to be about you and what you want and how you feel. Am I not entitled to have some things to myself or with just Booth. I'm going to lay down, let yourself out."

With that she went into the kitchen to turn the food off that Booth left simmering when he went to answer the door. She heard the front door shut as she was on her way to Booths room when she heard Parker talking to Booth, and after a few minutes she grabbed her purse and coat and left the apartment with tears running down her face.

….Parker we weren't hiding it from you. Bones and I wanted to wait until a safe time in the pregnancy to tell you. After dinner tonight we were going to sit down and talk to you and show you the pictures we got from the doctors today. Bones didn't tell anyone either. Somebody else accidently found out and confronted Bones in front of everyone in the lab. We were going to tell you first and then have a dinner to inform everyone else. This weekend we were going to look at houses so we could have enough room so no one has to share rooms. Parks I'm sorry you had to find out like this. Come on talk to me tell me what are you thinking.

….I don't want Bones to have a baby. Everything is changing. It is suppose to be just you and me and I want it like it was before she was your girlfriend. I don't want a sister or brother. I just want it to be me and you. I hate you and I hate Bones. I want to go back to moms house.

…. Parker Bones and I having a baby will not change my love for you. Me loving her has not changed my love for you. Bones and I are in love and that love created those babies. Just like your mom and I had you. Would it be fair to Bones for me to say, I love you Bones but we can't have any children because I already have Parker by someone else? Would it be fair to tell Bones that even though I love her she can't have any children of her own? You love me right? You love your mom? You love your grandparents and Pops right? Now does that mean that you don't love Max because you love a bunch of other people. Deep down you know you love Bones now does that change the way you love your mom? No it doesn't and it won't change the way I love you. Parks I hope you change the way you feel because whether you like it or not, Bones and I having these babies and you are going to be a big brother.

Closing Parkers door Booth went to look for Bones in their room when she wasn't in the living room any longer. Seeing as though she wasn't in the apartment. He called her cell phone and she didn't pick up so he left her message. ' Bones where are you? I came to talk to you and make sure you were ok and you were gone. Just come back please. I love you."

"Dad where is Bones."

"I don't know bud. She was already gone when I came in here."

"Dr. Brennan please come in." Cam was shocked to see her at her door.

"I'm sorry for imposing on you like this Cam but I um find that I didn't have anywhere else to go and I..."

"Hey, hey what's wrong? Did you and Booth have a fight?"

"No, my dad came over and he was angry about finding out about the pregnancy from someone at the lab and he blurted it out in front of Parker. We were going to tell him after dinner because we were going to look at houses this weekend. Anyway Parker didn't take it very well. After my dad left, I heard Parker tell Booth that he hates us, he doesn't want to share Booth and he wants things to go back the way they were when we were just partners and friends. Everything is a mess. I didn't want to go to my apartment that's the frist place he will look, then the lab of course. I just need time to figure out what I'm going to do."

"Temperence, you are more than welcomed to stay here as long as you need to. But in all fairness we have to tell Seeley where you are, he loves you and he is going to be worried sick. If you want I can talk to him for you and ask him for some space. You can stay in the guest room. Have you eaten? Would you like some tea?"

"Thank you. It will just be for tonight. I'll go back to my apartment tomorrow and if you don't mind could you call Booth. I don't want him to worry, I just can't talk to him right now. He has enough to deal with. I don't want to add to it. Some tea would be nice and if you don't mind I would like to lay down for a little while."

"Of course come on. The guest room is right this way and it has a private bathroom also. If you need anything just let me know. You know where everythig else is. I'll put the water on for your tea and bring it to you when its ready. You just go and rest. And for what its worth, congratulations. I'm very happy for you and Seeley."

"Thanks Cam."

"Booth"

"Seeley, she's here."

"What? Why? I'll be right over!"

"No Seeley don't. She is going to stay here tonight. Seeley she heard what Parker said to you. She's hurt and confused. Her best friend is acting like a bitch, her father just...I dont even get Max,a nd then Parker is angry about the babies. Just give her time to calm down. I will never tell her that I noticed but I could tell she had been crying before she got here. She's resting now. I'll keep an eye on her tonight. I don't have anything in my house she will eat, any suggestions for take out?"

"I'll call her favorite Thai resturant and order something and have it delivered. I'll put it on my card so you don't have to worry about. I don't like this at all Cam. I don't like her leaving like that, she should have stayed and talked to me. But I understand what your saying and I'll give her tonight but make sure she understands we will talk about this when I get off of work tomorrow. And what about you Cam are you pissed to that we didn't tell you.?

"No Seeley, I knew something has been going on for about two months now. I was just waiting for you to let me know when you were ready. Congratulates by the way. I'm sorry you guys couldn't have the pleasure of celebrating with your family and friends the way you wanted to. And who knows maybe if Parker have heard it the way you planned originally he would have taken the news better. Her tea is ready so let me take this in to her and see if she needs anything else. I'll make sure she's ok and I'll call you if I need you ok? Get some rest yourself big guy."

"Good Night Cam and thanks for everything."

After placing the order for their food he sat down on the couch and tried to wrap his mind around what was going on. 'Damn you Angela and your nosey ass. Just couldn't leave well enough alone and now you've fucked everything up.' He thought to himself. When he opened his eyes he found Parker standing there looking at him.

"Dad where is Bones?"

Exhaling slowly he said. "She left Parker. She overheard our conversation and she felt it was best if she wasn't here so she left."

"Is she coming back" Parker wasn't sure why he asked. I mean this is what he wanted right.

"I don't know Parker. She won't talk to me right now. She's hurt and confused so she's staying with at Cam's. It's late go and get ready for bed and I'll be in to tuck ya in."

Parker left to do what his father said. While he was in bed waiting for his father he thought about what he said to Booth and realized he only meant half of what he said. He loved Bones he just didn't want the babies around. But if she came back then so did his dad's other kids.

Booth came into the room and picked up a shirt on the floor and threw it in the hamper, then went to sit next to Parker on the bed. Looking at Parker Booth said, " I want you to know that just because our family is growing does not mean that I am going to love you any less. I will always love you son. But I also love Bones and our babies. There is enough room in my heart for all of you. We can make this work Parker but we have to work at it together."

"I don't want any stinking babies around. Its not fair they get to live with you all the time and I don't. Its not fair. Why can't they just live with Bones."

"Look Parker, I tried to give you the family you deserved but your mother didn't want that. She ended that relationship and put restrictions on my visits with you. That is not what I wanted but it happened and we had to make it work. Now I want you to understand I will not turn my back on them because you don't like it. You have a few months to get use to the idea and accept it and I hope you use the time wisely. But what your asking me to do isn't fair to them either. Think about it. Get some sleep, I love you. Good night Parker." Kissing him on the head he left the room.

Booth went to his bedroom and couldn't bring himself to going to bed so he went back in the living room. Picking up his phone he thought about calling Bones but decided to text her instead.

"... Baby are you up?"

Looking at the text she responded.

"...Yes"

"...Why did you leave and not talk to me? Please baby don't shut me out. Not now."

"...Booth I can't ask you to choose between us and Parker. He didn't ask for this. I'm sorry that my dad came barging him and blurting it out before we had a chance to tell him ourselves."

"...I have to say I was surprised to hear how he felt but I understand. He just got you and now he's being asked to share you."

"...Boneswhat are you saying? You want me to have the twins when I don't have Parker? You want to end our relationship? Is that what you want?"

"...I WILL NOT ABANDON MY CHILDREN FOR YOU OR FOR PARKER."

"...Booth I would never ask you to abandon your children. I know your not that type of man. Your a wonderful father. I don't know what to do Booth. Everything is all messed up. I don't know what to do anymore. No one is happy about this pregnancy. I'm tired Booth I'm going to bed."

"...Bones baby don't give up on me on us please. We'll talk tomorrow?"

"...Goodnight Booth"

"...Bones. I love you. Good night."

"...I love you to."

Cam woke up at 7:30 and went to the kitchen to put on a pot of coffee before going to the guest room to check on Bones when she found a note on her table.

'Cam thank you for letting me impose on you last night. I appreciate your kindness and friendship. I didn't want to distrub you this morning but I couldn't sleep so I'm going to my place for a change of cloths and then I am going to work. Thank you again. Brennan."

At the Jeffersonian Bones left her office untouched and went to Bones storage to work on a set of remains. As her collegues were coming in for work they noticed her lights out and her door was still closed and assumed she was taking the day off. So no one went to look for her. The only person who knew she was there was Cam. Booth called and didn't get an answer so he called Cam to see how Bones was doing. Cam told him that Bones had left before she even woke up and came to work but no one knew she was there.

Booth walked into the lab and started towards Bones office only to find it still empty. Angela saw him and ran to her door to stop him as he walked by. "Booth" she yelled and and he turned around looking angry and tired. Seeing that was all she was going to get she walked up to him. Hodgins was coming down the steps when he caught the conversation between the two.

"What do you want Angela?"

"What the hell is your problem Booth. I just wanted to know where Bren is. I haven't seen her this morning and she didn't call me."

"You are incredible do you know that?" He cut her off before she started to rant about Bones again. "My problem is that my girlfriend and I were planning on having a nice quiet dinner at home with my son and informing him of the pregnancy. But before we could do that, Max barged into my place and made that little announcement himself while he tried to make her feel bad about not telling him first. Because you had to stick your nose into our business Parker flipped out and Bones left. Now I'm here to see if I still have a girlfriend and if we are going to raise our kids together as family you know like you and Hodgins will be doing with your child. Thank you for sharing our business and taking away our opportunity to tell our family. Then you have the nerve to come to me and ask where she is because she didn't call you. When did you become her mother Angela? I'm going to say this once and only once. Back the fuck off. Your nosiness is causing havoc with my family and I don't fucking appreciate it. Now if you will excuse me I have to see if I still have a relationship." He stormed off towards Bones storage and Hodgins came up to her and said, "Ange, I agree with Booth. Your going over board here and you need to give them some space. You better hope they can salvage their relationship. Just this once I hope you listen." He walked back to his station and went to find Cam.

Walking into Bones storage he saw her standing there spacing out. Carefully entering the room he called out, " Bones are you ok?"

"Yes Booth, what are you doing here? Do we have a case?"

"No, I needed to see you. And I haven't heard from you this morning." Walking over to her he reached out and pulled her into his arms. While holding her in his arms, he spoke softly in her ear, "We need to sit and talk and then we need to talk to Parker. I'm in love with you and I love these kids we created. I love Parker you know this. I'm not giving up on my family, I told Parker that has some time to get use to this whether he liked it or not its happening. I'm going to be there and we are going to raise our kids together. Do you understand me? You leaving me is not an option Temperence. Pulling back he brought his hands up to her face and looked directly in her eyes and said, " I don't give a shit what Max or Angela or anybody else have to say, this is our life, our relationship, we make the decisions...together. I love you. Bones Parker will be fine. It was a shock you know and there have been a lot of changes lately. Even you yourself was feeling overwhelmed because of all of the changes. Just give it time baby give it a little time. Please."

"Ok Booth. Time. I'm sorry I left last night. I just couldn't face you or Parker especially after hearing how he felt and what he wanted. I know I should have waited anyway but I just..."

"Baby why didn't you want to see me."

"It was my father and my best friend that caused all of this. I knew you were going to be angry because of the way Max behaved in front of Parker. I never wanted him to find out that way. I love Parker as if he was my own son."

"I know you love him and I love you for that. He'll be okay baby. We have to find a way to deal with Angela and Max though. She didn't know you were here and stopped me when I came in and wanted to know where you were because you didn't call her to let her know you weren't coming to work. You know what let's go and get some lunch. Are you hungry because I'm starving. I never ate dinner last night. And I was so worried I didn't eat this morning."

Smiling she leaned up and gave him a quick kiss on his lips as she pulled away and went to put the bones away. Once she was done she walked past him only to have him reach out and grab her around her wrist and pull her into his chest, he leaned down and brought his mouth over hers and began kissing her passionately. Putting his hands on her hips he brought her body up against his and she felt his hard erection pressing into her. She broke the kiss and looked up at him and said, " Is that all for me?"

Laughing Booth said "Its always for you baby. Always. And I'll be more than happy to give it to you when ever you want it."

"Does that mean where ever also?" She looked down at his erection and then back at him and he could have sworn her striking blue eyes got darker and he could feel the heat coming off of her body. Clearing his throat he said, "Let's go baby."

A/N: I know this is a little longer than what I normally do I just couldn't seem to find a good place to take a break.
