All right, sorry for taking so long on updating. So Happy end I'm honestly having a bit of trouble with since it's such an old (and in my opinion) badly written story. I mean the chapter summary plan I have is super old and some of the ideas in it don't make sense or are a random deus ex machina.
And then I realized fanfiction is something to help you improve your writing. So I'm going to try to finish Happy end and do as it says in my chapter summary and then hopefully a few months afterwards edit things and make this story more coherent and awesome.
So for the time being I'd like suggestions for at least this chapter, since the random deus ex machina here I really really don't like but I don't know what would make more sense.
Anyway that's why I took so long. I'm pretty sure there's seven or so chapters left.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything.
(Btw, I am editing this. Have edited this chapter)
It was as if everything was slowed down as the bomb fell towards them.
Time hadn't really slowed, but the moment seemed to drag on forever.
Although, it would have been much better for it to be forever verses the death that was coming to them.
Such a slowed peaceful feeling wasn't too bad.
Kululu sat on a log trying to think. Keronian soldiers always seemed to try to wreck his fun when he tried to complete his current goal of planetary destruction.
He sighed, "They're everywhere..." Looking up at the sky trying to think again of how to at least get rid of some of them so he had enough room to destroy the planet he saw something falling, almost like a star getting closer to the ground in a second.
Having nothing better to do at the moment, he grabbed Mois's lucifer spear and hoped onto it, glad for the ability to fly faster than the speed of light.
Speeding off he was in the area that the star would land in less than milliseconds.
It wasn't an asteroid to destroy this place. Darn. He could hear Angol Mois's voice curse next to his.
The thing falling he could easily make out to be a bomb, familiar with the layout of how these things worked, having made a few himself.
Turning the lucifer spear away about to fly off, disinterested and not wanting to get caught in the blast or hurt by radiation he was about to fly off until he heard a familiar voice, a voice of his old platoon, someone who had been living with him for his many years on pekopon.
"Good bye, my love..." The gruff voice of the weapon's expert of Kululu's old platoon was sorrowful.
"Bye Giroro." The second voice was less important, and Kululu didn't deign himself to remember or differentiate it.
Instead of turning and fleeing the scene flying above Giroro, Kululu made a split second decision knowing that he might regret it forever if he didn't. And Kululu hated feeling guilty or regretting something. It was such a rare emotion for him.
He had to grab Giroro though and save him. He had promised himself he would make it up to Giroro a long time ago for making a machine to make him live his most beloved person's death over and over again.
Kululu flew down in a split second as Giroro shut his eyes awaiting a quick and hopefully painless death, instead though he felt a hand tug at his arm and place it on a cylinder shaped rod.
"Hold on tight if you want to live. Ku, ku-" Kululu didn't finish his last laugh deciding it was the safest bet to start flying out of there.
Giroro didn't let go of Natsumi and just instinctively clung to the spear not able to speak focusing on the task of holding on for life and holding onto Natsumi.
It was mere seconds until they were safely away from the bomb and could no longer see it. Pekopon was a small planet compared to the rest of the universe and space that could be traversed in mere seconds after all.
Landing safely Giroro tried to catch his breath wheezing and sighing not used to unprotected hyper travel and having held on tightly to two things at once.
"W-we survived..." Natsumi didn't seem to believe this fact, "B-but..." She tried not to think about how everybody else back at camp had probably been blown to smithereens by now though.
"We're alive." Giroro clutched Natsumi's arm giving off a large smile just seeming to bask in the brilliance of life. "You're alive and we'll live to fight another day." The couple embraced each other still trapped in the previous moments of their near death experience.
"No thank you for me? I just saved your life." Kululu gave his typical jerk sympathy for people who had experienced a near death experience. "Ku, seems I accidentally saved Natsumi too though. Guess it makes sense that Giroro was with you."
He paused for a second listening to almost nothing as Giroro tried to keep his anger down at how Kululu hadn't originally wanted to save Natsumi.
"Yeah, I guess Natsumi was a pretty nice pekoponian but she was still a pekoponian, right?" Pausing again awaiting an answer of nothing Kululu spoke again "Yeah, I guess she'll die with the rest just like everybody else when we destroy this place."
"Uhhhh..." Natsumi and Giroro looked at each other sort of awkwardly as Kululu spoke to himself. They didn't know who or what he was talking about.
"Listen Kululu...Um..." Giroro didn't know if he wanted to ask about Kululu's weird behavior and his sort of shattered glasses lens yet. "Thanks for saving us. We would have died without you." Giroro finally said wanting to get his gratefulness out of the way. "I...I didn't know you were still alive honestly. It's so hard to find people from the past. I'm glad to see you." Giroro admitted.
"Same here. Even though back when we all lived together you were a complete jerk I still missed you." Natsumi smiled almost in a soft sort of way. Finding other people was so rare, especially since a lot of the people she had bonded with and known had just died.
"Glad to know you haven't hit the bucket either." Kululu seemed to be holding back some sort of issue looking at Giroro in an almost or at least borderline apologetic way. He was almost about to speak before Natsumi cut him off.
"I'm sorry, Kululu...If you've been looking for Saburo...He died in the bomb you just saved us from." Natsumi bluntly told Kululu the truth suspecting that he was looking for his friend.
"Don't be sorry for that!" Giroro scolded Natsumi, "He deserved what he got selling out our location and killing all the people there just for himself."
"I would've probably done the same." Kululu answered almost quietly, "So...Saburo's dead...It probably couldn't have been helped..." He sighed. Pausing another moment he spoke again though. "At least I still have you though." He wasn't looking outright at Giroro and Natsumi but they knew he must have been talking to them since he couldn't have been talking to anyone else.
"Um...Thanks?" Natsumi answered almost questioningly although she wondered if Giroro had been talking to her or Giroro. She suspected Giroro and seemed visibly sickened. "You're welcomed to join us wherever we're going if you want. You saved our lives and for that I'm very thankful. And I don't want to have to lose anyone else again." Natsumi admitted
"Are we alone...?" Giroro finally asked. He just said he'd probably do the same as Saburo. Is he aligned with the keronian soldiers?
"It's just us. Don't worry." Kululu answered.
"So...There's no ambush hiding in a bush around the area going to attack Natsumi and I?" Giroro asked suspiciously. He didn't smell or hear any other soldiers but he still suspected something was up.
"I'm never aligning myself with them again. Ku, ku, ku...There's no ambush waiting for you." Kululu answered
What happened with him? Giroro wondered to himself. He felt the area was safe though to rest for at least a few moments and recollect their thoughts.
"So you just invited me to join your sort of small group. What's your group's plan that you invited me to join? How are you going to keep safe or beat these guys? I know Giroro and he'd definitely want to eliminate these keronians and rush straight into battle. Luckily for you I want less of them as well, so what's your outright battle strategy?" Kululu asked jumping straight to the point instead of having touchy feely reunions.
"Our plan...?" Giroro asked, "I...I honestly haven't thought about it...I mean I mostly have only been focusing on Natsumi's safety and finding her..."
"Kululu's right that we do have to fight though. I want my planet back. I don't know how to win this war though with only three people though..." Natsumi responded. Keeping her mind on moving forward kept her from thinking about all the deaths she had seen.
"Tch. Of course you don't have any plans. And we are at a disadvantage due to lack of knowledge of when they're going to strike. We have a couple of advantages though." Kululu tried to think logically about the situation.
"Like?"
"Giroro's bracelet. It makes his brain send the signals to his body to keep it out of harm's way and helps him do anything he can to survive. Even in the middle of battle giving him the adrenaline or speed to move out of the way of danger. I have enough faith in my invention to feel like it could give us the upper hand in at least a few battles. And Giroro does have a lot of battle power. I'm sure if he was near an inexperienced fleet he could take them out." Kululu gave concrete facts.
"Your invention...?" Giroro looked down at his bracelet which had originally caused him so much trouble.
"I...I'm...Yeah...When the invasion of this place just started I worked for them for a bit. I made a couple inventions related to you." Kululu admitted, "Admittedly I do feel a little bad..."
"A little bad?" Giroro raised his voice but tried not to yell. "You traumatized me for life! All I wanted to do was die but I was told I couldn't...I was told any Natsumi I saw was a hallucination. Because of that I killed someone who I thought was lying to me when they said Natsumi was alive. That life can never be taken back because you decided not to fight for what was right." Giroro didn't hesitate in punching him and the punch was hard.
"DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH US." Kululu seemed to snap, for a moment as he helped himself off the ground. Pausing yet again as if he was listening to the wind he composed himself letting the anger and hatred fade to his voice. "I...I know...I'm...It must have hurt so much...I'm sorry..." Kululu paused another moment, "Yeah, I know! Fine, I'll tell him!" He spoke in a sort of impatient tone but to know one. "I wanted to apologize to you and that's why I saved your life. I know it must have been awful but at least that invention will give us a chance at beating them. Ku, ku, ku."
"You're right about that." Giroro finally admitted, looking at the bracelet that instead of causing despair would now cause hope. He didn't say that he had forgiven Kululu though.
"Well we have one advantage. But what about information? We don't know what the keronian forces are planning and there's no one on our side giving us information or something. We don't have our own little spy." Natsumi answered putting her thoughts into the conversation.
"True. And I'm not going back to them. Never, never again." Giroro answered. If they found out I still wasn't the broken person I was they'd do the same things they already did, over again.
Both of them turned to Kululu gazing at him as if an awful task had fallen to him.
"I can do it, I guess." Kululu responded, "They'd probably easily welcome me back because of my intelligence. They need me."
"You'd do that for Pekopon and us?" Natsumi seemed over joyed, hopeful and slightly suspicious.
"There's something I left back in the ship. Something that I want to retrieve." Kululu answered, "So it wouldn't entirely be for you. And I want them gone too."
Mois's other body parts are back there. I don't want them having any of them. I could probably track down what they've done to them if I went back... Kululu didn't speak out loud about what he wanted. He didn't want Angol Mois to think he was endangering himself for her. She might get a little mad. She was like that. He smiled a bit looking at his hallucination version of her.
"So tomorrow morning you'll rejoin them?" Giroro asked wanting to destroy the keronians as soon as possible.
"Sure. The sooner the better I guess." Kululu answered, "You fine with that?"
"Yeah. You're right the sooner the better." Natsumi answered
"I wasn't talking to you, idiot." Kululu spoke harshly and turned away from both Giroro and Natsumi. They both looked at each other weirdly but decided it was best not to question it. They didn't want to ignite Kululu's anger after all.
They let Kululu do his weird thing of listening to air and tried not to listen to him talk to nothing. Instead they made camp.
"I'm so glad you're alive Natsumi. I was ready to take that bomb but I still didn't want you to be hurt." Giroro admitted as soon as they had a place to sleep. Giving her a kiss on the forehead he just looked at her lovingly.
"Now we'll be together even longer. I'm glad too." She gave him a hug trying not to think about how their lives had changed so quickly.
Kululu stopped talking to himself to turn to them. He looked to be a mixture between sickened and jealous.
"It would probably be quicker actually for me to head off now." Kululu decided as if he didn't want to see them in a loving display.
Giroro glared remembering Kululu was there and unhappy that he broke the moment.
I wanted to kiss Natsumi...And here he is watching us...Giroro growled in his thoughts.
"Giroro, um..." Kululu paused not knowing how to bring something up. "I in no way trust you enough to ask you to do this, but I trust the Keron army even less. I don't want this damaged, so would you, um...Keep it safe and away from anyone?" Kululu turned the lucifer spear that he hadn't stopped holding since he had seen Giroro on it's side as if handing it to him.
"Yeah." Giroro answered, "Don't worry." I wonder what he's been doing with Mois's spear though...Where is she?
"Keep is safe. Safer than anything else. Don't let anyone touch it, or I'll hurt you worse than the keronians ever could when using my inventions. Ku, ku, ku. After all, I am a master at hurting you." Kululu told him.
"Fine, fine, I got it. Keep it out of harm's way." Giroro answered taking the spear, "By the way...Where is Mois? Wouldn't she usually have her own spear?"
With that questioned Kululu turned away and left.
No answer was given and Giroro was left to try to figure out his own conclusion.
It took a few days to track down a keronian soldier and facility and as Kululu predicted a lot of the soldiers were inexperienced, like they were awaiting someone more important's movements unsure of their own. They easily let him aboard the main ship and he was easily led to the general.
"Sergeant Major Kululu...You've returned to us. Is it because you want to rejoin the winning side? Or is it something like revenge that you thirst for? Either way you'll be helping us again and you know it." The general seemed to see Kululu as a pesky fly, something easily swatted but also needed.
"I came to return to the winning side of course. It's so obvious that there's nothing out there on Pekopon and that being your enemy is so much harder than working for you."
"That's something good about you, sergeant major. You're always thinking about yourself. It used to work against you but now it's working for you and us. Hopefully you won't repeat the same mistake of lack of respect this time." The general seemed to honestly think that Kululu couldn't do anything to hurt Keron, having no one left and nothing that he cared about besides materialistic things.
Even if he did have some crazy revenge plan for rejoining he would have to do it himself. I've seen him in action. Nobody likes him and nobody would work with him. He's completely alone. The general suspected nothing.
And just like that, the plan to revolt against the Keron army had begun.
Who knew if there was a chance of success though?
So yeah, suggestions, plot holes anything you'd like to point out please tell me in a review. Sorry about being so late with a chapter. Hopefully I actually finish this thing this summer.
