The sound of heels clinking on pavement filled the empty street of Storybrooke. It was cold, which was expected for January. Regina cursed under her breath for wearing high heels, her feet were aching and she was sure they had grown two sizes. Daniel had warned her, but of course she didn't listen. At seven months pregnant she was about the size of an elephant, at least, that's how she felt. It hadn't helped that Emma had not so strategically pointed out that she was bigger at seven than Emma had been at nine.
Regina had decided to go for a late night stroll, Aiden had been very active today. She was sure her kidneys would never function properly anymore. But be that as it may, it wasn't the only reason Regina had bravely stepped into the cold Maine air. It helped her think too, and she had a lot to think about. About a week ago, Snow had thought it would be a good idea to show up with her mother. Cora said she really wanted to change and that she had her heart back, but Regina wouldn't be persuade that easy.
Snow was talking about the whole forgiving thing like it was the most easiest thing ever. But she wasn't aware of how much Cora had hurt her daughter, physically and mentally. Snow didn't know about the vivid nightmares she still had about the woman who was supposed to be her mother. Snow didn't know how it felt to be forced into a marriage with a man old enough to be her grandfather, to be forced to have sex with him.
So, after all that, a simple 'I didn't have my heart' just wasn't going to cut it.
Cora had stopped by everyday to see if she was willing to talk, but no such luck. Apparently her mother was staying at the pirateship that brought her here in the first place. The ship of a certain pirate, Regina had yet to see again.
"Well, well. If it isn't our almighty Queen."
Well, speak of the devil.
Regina stopped walking and slowly turned around, her emotional mask covering her features. "What do you want, pirate?" She said, disdain evident in her voice. The pirate quickly caught up with her, his metal hook secured in the space his left hand should be. The solid material glistened in the moonlight.
His sharp blue eyes looked her up and down with a grin. "Well, you're never going to get your figure back after this, love." He said with his usual charm. "It's a shame really, I always enjoyed your body immensely."
If looks could kill, the pirate would be six feet under. Her piercing brown eyes, burned holes in his blue ones.
"Shut up, pirate. You know it was just sex."
"Ah." He countered while lifting his index finger as if to make a point. "But good sex that is." Hook grinned when he saw Regina's eye roll and leaned against the brick wall of some store. "So, who's the idiot that got you knocked up?"
Even thought the woman in front of him was shorter, petit and pregnant. She was terrifying. Her eyes were blazing fire as she took a measured step forwards, close, but not too close to be touching. "I would suggest you stop talking about my fiancé that way. Or do you want to loose your right hand too?" She asked with a smug grin. "How would you get yourself off with no hands and no woman?"
"I see you haven't lost your fire, love." He grinned back. "And who says I have no woman? I thought that maybe you would be more than happy to repeat history."
Regina scoffed at the indecent request. "In your dreams, captain."
"If you change your mind, your majesty, my door - or ship - is always open." He said as he pushed himself off the brick wall and turned to walk in a different direction.
...
Regina clasped her black maternity slacks and tucked her silk blouse in. She thought back at her interesting talk with the pirate yesterday, and then back at the stupid mistake - or mistakes - she'd made with said pirate. It had been the time when he had supposedly 'killed' her mother, which she had forgot to ask him about. Pregnancy brain, she shrugged.
Fixing her makeup and hair, Regina made her way downstairs. Henry was already off to school and Daniel was at work, which meant that Regina had some time to go see Emma. Henry had asked her something and she needed to talk to Emma about it.
She grabbed her purse and her car keys and made her way towards the sheriff's station. Driving while having the size of a whale turned out to be more difficult than Regina a had initially thought. But after adjusting the leather seat, it was manageable.
"Emma?" Regina asked as she stepped into the station. Emma was seated at her desk, working on some sort of file, like always. But the holding cell however was a different story. Behind the yellowed bars was none other then the infamous Captain Hook.
Emma looked up the moment she heard her name being said. "Hey Regina." She said, surprise obvious in her voice.
"Ah, your majesty, we meet again." Hook said smugly as he leaned against the bars that were trapping him.
"Again?" Emma asked as she lifted an eyebrow at Regina.
"We ran into each other, nothing more miss Swan."
"How the hell do you two know each other? Aren't Snow White and Peter Pan like two immensely different stories."
"Stories?" Hook asked confused. "Peter Pan is most definetly not just a story, princess. He's an evil little boy. And as for your other question, we've had sex a couple of times." He grinned as he looked at Regina's raging expression.
"Regina!" Emma squealed.
Regina sighed. "I hired him to kill my mother, which obviously didn't work - I haven't forgotten that by the way. And then we had sex, one or two times. Nothing more."
"Try ten times, love."
"Shut up, Hook." Regina growled back.
"Well, you guys just fucked up my childhood stories big time. The Evil Queen and Captain Hook having sex..."
"Can we drop the subject, please." Regina said as she sighed.
"You'd like that, wouldn't you love?"
"I'm here to talk about Henry." Regina tried to change the subject.
That caught Emma's attention. "Why?"
"Can we do this somewhere private?" She asked, looking at the pirate who was still grinning like a schoolboy.
"Sure."
She followed Emma into the small office and sat down on the desk. "So what about Henry?" Emma asks once she closed the door behind her.
Regina shifted anxiously and crossed her legs at her ankles. "I want to ask you about Henry's father."
Emma's green eyes widened in surprise. "W-why?"
"Well, ever since Henry started calling Daniel 'dad'. I was curious about Henry's biological father." She said softly. She just wanted to know out of curiosity. "But if you don't want to talk about it, that's fine too. I don't want to make you uncomfortable, Emma."
"No no, it's fine." Emma said with a shake of her head. She really wanted to tell the truth, but it was too humiliating to confess that Neal knocked her up and then made her take the fall for him on some stupid watches. Instead she would tell the exact same story, she told Henry.
"I told Henry about him once, didn't he mention that?" When she saw Regina shake her head she continued. "He was a firefighter and after a terrible accident, he died."
"Oh, I'm sorry Emma." Regina said softly and she reached forward to take Emma's hand in her own. She had never wanted to bring back painful memories, she was just curious.
"It's fine, really. It happened a long time ago."
"But that doesn't make it any less painful."
It really didn't.
...
Since Hook was locked up safely in the sheriff's station,Regina thought it was safe to stop by the ship. After Emma's sad story, she realized that maybe she should take the first step, which was talking to her mother.
Even though it was probably going to be hard-no it was definetly going to be hard, Regina knew she needed to do this. Daniel had been right. She desperately needed her mother now.
She was pregnant for gods sake, and who better to give advice to a pregnant woman then her own mother?
When she reached the ship, she was relieved when she saw her mother sitting on a bench on the docks, at least now she didn't have to climb into the ship, risking a fall.
The older woman turned her head when she heard the clicking of heels in the stone. Her brown eyes filled with hope and love when she saw her beautiful and very pregnant daughter approach.
Regina sat down carefully and felt the cold wood through her pants fabric.
"I think I'm ready to talk." Regina said in groggy voice fully emotion.
Cora stared at her daughter face and gave her a watery smile.
"Good."
...
I know, cliffhanger, sorry okay. ;) So, how did you like Hook and Regina's previous 'relationship'? And yes, I do plan to bring Neal into this story, just so I can have some protective daddy Daniel! Leave a review y'all! :)
