Stargate SG-1: O'Neill and Carter

Episode 18: Tin Man

Scene: days after the episode ends

Character POV: O'Neill

I haven't found a single mirror in this entire place. Not that I need one, really. I haven't needed to shave at all. That is right, I am not human, and I can never go back. I can't go anywhere really. We buried the gate as we promised. Carter is right at home fixing all the old and broken crap here; Daniel is a happy camper learning all there is to know about the people that lived here. I just wander around wondering what I am going to do. I can't even go fishing. No fish, no pond, no bait, no nothing….

"Sir, can I get your help with something," Carter said right behind me. Had I been human, I would have jumped sky high but I heard her coming. Benefit of good hearing now that I am a cyborg. I won't tell Carter how I know about those things.

"Sure, on what," I told her.

"I am about to release the new cooling system but I need some extra hands to turn off the valves at the various points at the exact moment that I do so," she instructed. Yep, happy as a clam she is.

I followed her to the destination of where she wanted me. Well, was guided more like as I had no idea where she took me, wasn't paying any attention to my surroundings. Did her hips move just a little bit more than usual or is that just my cyborg sight?

"I will let you know when, Daniel is already standing by at the other valve," she said.

"Roger that," I responded and did my best to not look her in the eye. No way could I do so after spending so much time looking where I shouldn't.

"Sir, you know that now, well, since we are no longer at the SGC…" she started but stopped. I looked at her now. If she could blush she probably would have been red from head to toe.

"I guess we could start with just calling each other by our names now, since we are no longer in the US military," I responded.

"Yes, I would like that, Jack."

"Good, Sam. I'll close the valve when you give the order. Or the word, since there are no orders now."

She nodded and walked back the way we came. Yep, her hips moved just a little bit more. No military rules here. No chain of command here. Maybe this is not a total loss.
