Splinter watched intently as Monica screamed at the back of her lover, begging him to stay even though their home had just gone up in flames. Splinter felt his heart ache for the girl. She belonged with Gary, couldn't he see that? They were meant to be, no matter the hardships.
"Aw man is Monica still tryin' ta get wit dat jerk?"
Splinter spun around, coming almost face to face with Casey Jones. The big man was leaning over the back of the couch, watching as Gary spun around and told Monica that they would never work.
Splinter narrowed his eyes.
"Of course she is trying to repair the beautiful relationship she and Gary share," he said. "Clearly, he needs her after his half brother wrote him out of their father's will and left him destitute and grief-stricken."
Casey hopped over the back of the couch, landing heavily on the worn cushions.
"Nah man, watch this. He's made the whole half-brotha' thing up. He's gonna wreck this chick when he tells her he's been lyin' to her face this whole time."
Splinter spluttered in outrage, as Monica tried to reason with Gary on screen.
"He would never do something like that!" he said vehemently. "Gary knows that Monica has trust issues after her step-mother convinced her father to abandon her when she was 13. He would never take advantage of her in such a fragile state."
Casey snorted and gestured towards the screen.
"Watch dis Masta Splinta," he nodded towards the screen. "He's been playin' her from da beginnin' an' she's gonna find out da hard way."
Splinter angrily turned back to the television ready to defend the relationship, just as Gary erupted into a full blown exposé about how he had targeted Monica for her money from the beginning and that he had never loved her. Splinter felt his jaw go slack as Gary revealed that he didn't have a half-brother and had made the whole dying father story up.
Casey leaned back with a smirk.
"Told ya."
Splinter slowly turned back to the heavily muscled man on the couch, eyes shining with reverence. Here, was a true master.
