"Evening, Lex..."

Lex Luthor slowly turned around until he found himself looking at the man standing down at the other end of the hallway.

"Clark, look... I..."

Clark Kent slowly began to walk down the hall towards Lex.

"You know," Clark interrupted Lex before he could begin to make excuses, "Listening to my folks' latest series of lectures on the importance of keeping secrets and what the right kind of people to be friends with is has made it hard for me to sleep lately. I thought I'd take a walk... so really, it's their fault that we're meeting like this, caught in this... terribly embarrassing situation... Wouldn't you agree?"

"Uh, yeah, I suppose..."

"Suppose the best thing for us to do would be just to act like this never happened and go on with whatever we were doing."

"Actually, Clark," Lex admitted, "I'm having a hard time with that idea right now."

"It's one in the morning, we've both got places to be in a few hours..." Clark's eyes moved to the door that Lex had just moments before exited from, "And you're standing outside my cousin and de-facto 'sister's' bedroom. I think we can give it a shot, Lex."

Clark kept walking and moved right past his old friend, "Good night, Lex..."

"Clark," Lex called after him, "If your secret and Kara's is the... I mean..."

"Good night, Lex," Clark repeated as he reached the end of the hall and started down the stairs.

"Yeah, goodnight," Lex muttered, having a strong suspicion that Clark would hear him anyway.
