Chapter 36: Rescuing The God

GUN brought Yum Kaax into their headquarters and strapped him to a table. The god glared at them.

"What do you plan to do to me?" He asked.

The Commander chuckled. "Oh, nothing...we're just going to steal your powers and life force!"

"What? But why?"

"So we can study it for ourselves and learn your secrets!" He looked at one of the scientists. "Start the procedure."

The scientist nodded and hooked Yum Kaax up to a machine, then started it up. The forest god shuddered, and began to scream.

Falen groaned in pain. He had been having visions of the god, and knew he was in trouble. Suddenly, a voice rose in his mind.

Help me, Falen. They are killing me.

Yum Kaax? Falen asked telepathically. Where are you?

The god spoke. GUN is holding me hostage and is experimenting on me. Please, come at once. I am begging you.

The telepathic connection was cut off, and Falen frowned. He rushed over to Scourge and Sonic.

"I have just received word from the forest god," he told them. "GUN is killing him. We must rescue him at once, or we will die. If he does, we will be homeless."

The blue wolf growled. We shall go, then. Is everyone ready?

We are, Alpha, Vlad said.

Sonic gave a wolfish smile and howled as he and Scourge ran off as the pack followed their two Alphas. As they ran out of the burning Sanctuary, Sonic looked back at it and whimpered. He didn't know what they were going to do with their home now destroyed. As they ran, the people in the city saw the wolves. Some had been transformed into anthros, while others remained human. They watched as the wolf pack ran down the street towards GUN, confused about what the pack was doing out in the open.

As they ran, Blaze looked at the anthros, then at Sonic. Vulcan's curse is working, the purple wolf told her lover.

The Alpha grinned and nodded. A few minutes later, they stopped in front of GUN and looked at the military headquarters.

How shall we attack, Alphas? Ivan asked Sonic and Scourge.

The two Alphas discussed the plan with each other, and then turned to the pack.

We go in there and attack the GUN soldiers, Scourge said. The pack will split up: one half to find the god, and the other to destroy the base.

Who shall go after the god? Mephic asked.

I will, Sonic told him. Scourge will take care of the base and soldiers.

The wolves nodded in agreement, and ran into the base. As they entered, the GUN soldiers looked at them in surprise, and started to fire their weapons. The wolves dodged the bullets, glad that they weren't silver. Lucina, Vlad and Ivan transformed into large bats and swooped down upon some other soldiers, attacking them. The soldiers yelled in pain as they were either bitten or killed. A few minutes later, they split up. Sonic took some wolves with him and ran down the corridors, searching for the room where the Commander was keeping Yum Kaax.

Falen, did Yum Kaax tell you where he was being kept? Sonic asked the black raven that was flying above them.

The raven nodded. /"They're in the basement. Follow me."/

He flew ahead, and the wolves followed. Minutes later, they reached the basement and heard screaming. Sonic's eyes widened in shock, and he pushed the door open. Inside the room, the Commander had Yum Kaax hooked up to wires, and was sucking energy from him.

You monster! Shadow roared at Abraham. What the hell are you doing to him?

Abraham looked at the wolf; he didn't understand what Shadow was saying as it sounded like barks to him, but he had a good idea. He smirked and chuckled.

"We are sucking his life force from him, along with his powers. Soon, he'll be weak and powerless."

Falen screeched and transformed into his horse form, galloping at the Commander. He reared up and hit his hooves against Abraham's chest, who felt the wind get knocked out of him as he fell to the ground. Shadic had transformed into a Werehog and walked up to him, along with Silvond. The bear, Werehog and demonic horse looked down at the Commander as Falen put down his hoof so that Abraham couldn't move.

"Tell us how to stop the machine," the Werehog said. If you don't, I'll send my claws through your chest."

Abraham Towers gulped as he saw the wolves surrounding him, and nodded. "There's a switch on the machine that turns it off. You can unhook the god after it's shut down...but it won't do you any good. He's too weak to do anything."

Shadic grinned, and looked at Sonic, who nodded. The Werehog looked back at the Commander and chuckled. "Thank you for the information, Commander. You're no use to us anymore."

He extended his arm as his hand punched through Abraham's chest. The Commander gasped as blood pooled from the wound, and fell to the ground dead. Shadic retracted his arm and went over to the machine, stopping it. He unhooked Yum Kaax from the table and draped the unconscious god over his shoulder.

We have him, Sonic said. Let's go.

The pack ran back to the main room where they saw the other half of the pack killing the soldiers. Once that was done, they raced out of the base as a loud roar sounded. Ryumara, in dragon form, flew over GUN's headquarters and breathed fire upon it, burning the building. Then they raced back to the Sanctuary, glad that their mission was complete.
