Tori woke up as she felt her head slowly rise and then lower rhythmically. She opened her eyes and saw why, as her head was lying on Jade's left shoulder and chest. She turned around and grabbed her phone. 5:53 AM. She knew that the alarm would go off in a few minutes anyway, so she slowly got up and placed a gentle kiss on Jade's cheek. The Goth moved slightly before turned to her side. Tori grabbed some clothes from her open suitcase and walked into the bathroom. After she got dressed she quietly made her way downstairs, hoping she would wake anyone else up just yet. To her surprise, as she walked into the living room, she saw that the kitchen door was open and heard someone inside. She walked into the kitchen and saw Robbie standing in front of the stove.
"Good morning." She said. Robbie almost jumped up, but then calmed himself once he saw Tori.
"Damn, I did not hear you." Robbie said as he put his hand on his chest.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to sneak up on you." Tori apologized as she sat down on a chair. "So you slept here too?"
"The majority of our group seemingly does. But I'm the only one making breakfast right now." Robbie said with a smirk.
Tori saw that smirk and the possible reason immediately shot into her mind. Still, she was not sure, and was definitely not going to ask.
"In that case, two scrambled eggs and some ham for me." Tori said.
"Got it." Robbie said. Just as Tori wanted to thank him, she felt two arms wrap around her stomach and hug her tightly. She turned her head and was met with dark red.
"Morning Cat." Tori said.
"Are you mad at me because of yesterday?" Cat asked, not letting go of the half Latina.
"Of course not. I can never be mad at you." Tori said.
"Yaaaay." Cat squealed, hugging Tori even tighter.
"Cat…air…" Tori gasped.
"Sorry." Cat said, letting her out of the death grip. She then walked over to Robbie and gave him a quick peck on the lips, while Robbie never let go of the pan. "Can you make me some waffles?"
"Of course. Just grab me the ingredients for the mixture." Robbie said.
"Kay."
"What do Jade and Trina eat?" Robbie asked.
"Trina usually doesn't eat breakfast because she thought it would ruin her figure. I made Jade pancakes not too long ago. She liked… well she didn't hate them." Tori explained.
"Hm. I guess I'll"
"Jade eats a waffle and half, two slices of cheese and a large cup of dark coffee. Two pieces of sugar." Cat happily said.
"Thank you." Robbie said, placing Tori's finished food on a plate and putting it aside before continuing Cat's and Jade's order.
"You know too much about me." Jade said as she walked into the room and sat down next to Tori. "Any reason Robbie is making breakfast for everyone?"
"I'm just a good guest." Robbie said.
"And I'm sure Cat was a good host last night." Jade smirked, earning a slight blush from the redhead, but only a small chuckle from Robbie.
"Don't be mean." Tori said, leaning her head on Jade's shoulder.
"I'm not mean. It's part of my charm." Jade said.
"Good morning." Tori heard Trina say as the pregnant girl stood at the doorway. "Thank you Cat for letting me stay here."
"No problem. Stay here as long as you want. Maybe we can get Beck, Andre and Simon to move in too. Oh, and Courtney and Sinjin. We can all live together." Cat said.
"What is this? Big Brother? Are we going to eliminate people once a week?" Robbie asked.
"I'll vote Beck off." Jade said.
"And I have a feeling you wouldn't last past week one if it was based on votes." Tori said, earning a glare from the Goth.
After they were all done eating, they got dressed and made their way to school. Jade drove Trina and Tori while Robbie and Cat took Cat's car. As Jade parked her car, Tori and her got out of the car, while Trina didn't.
"What's wrong?" Tori asked, leaning into the car.
"I haven't been here in months. What am I going to tell everyone? Where I was and all that?" Trina asked.
"Tell them you were sick or something. We are going to graduate soon anyway." Tori said.
"I probably won't. I missed out too much." Trina said.
"And that is exactly why you need to talk to Lane and Helen. Explain what happened and figure something out." Tori said as they entered school. To her surprise, the hallway was once again full, only this time there was no one announcing anything. As they came closer, they saw Simon walk towards them.
"Stop." He said, raising his hand. "Look, you and Jade should go home; skip school today." Simon said, visibly agitated.
"Why? What's going on?" Jade asked.
"Look, just get out of here. You don't need this." Simon pleaded, but Jade walked right past him. The crowd quickly dispersed once they saw the Goth approach. Jade turned towards her locker and found the source of the gathering. The scissors on her locker were arranged so that two scissors would be scissoring each other; all of them.
"What the fuck?" Jade wondered.
Tori walked up next to her and saw what had been done. Her eyes grew wide as she rushed to her locker. Her face turned pale when she saw the words formed on her locker, the shinning words mocking her in every way.
"Faggot, Dyke, Gay Cunt..." Tori read in a voice barely above a whisper. Jade, Trina and Simon walked up next to her. Jade and Trina read the words on Tori's locker while Simon clenched his fist until it turned white.
"Who wrote this?" Trina asked, disgust written in her face.
"I don't know. I came here a minute ago and saw this. I wanted to get Helen but then I saw you two walk in..." Simon explained.
"Tori..." Jade said as she put her hand on the half Latina's shoulder. She felt Tori tremble under her hand.
"W-Why would someone..." Tori stuttered, before she found herself in Jade's arms.
"Hey guys, what's going...on..." Andre said as he stopped next to them before he saw Tori's locker. "Who the fuck did this?" Andre asked, anger spilling out of his voice.
"I don't know. I found this maybe a minute ago." Simon explained.
"I'm gonna take this down." Andre said as he dropped his bag, but Simon stopped him.
"Wait. Helen has to see this first, otherwise they will do it again." Simon said.
"Then let's go get her." Andre said before turning to Jade and Tori. "Go home, get out of here. We'll handle this."
"Helen better find them before I do." Andre said as he turned to Simon, who only nodded.
"They are right. We should go." Jade said, still holding her crying girlfriend. She felt Tori nod.
Jade led her out of the school and towards her car. Tori was still trembling. Jade opened the passenger door and sat Tori down before she crouched down next to her.
"Hey, it's alright. Who gives a fuck about what they wrote." Jade said, putting her hands on Tori's shoulders.
"I fucked up. I fucked up again yesterday. If I hadn't kissed you, they wouldn't be doing this. I'm so sorry." Tori said.
"Sorry? Sorry about what? If someone doesn't like us being together, they can go and rot in a ditch as far as I am concerned. I'm happy you did this. I'm happy you did it the way you did. It takes fucking courage to do that in front of everyone at school and in front of your parents. You didn't care what they thought, why do you care now?" Jade asked.
"Because this involves you too. They also messed with your locker. The scissors put together..."
"Well, it is my favorite movie..." Jade joked, earning a tired smile from her still crying girlfriend.
"I'm serious. I didn't expect this from our school. I thought we all were... more accepting." Tori said.
"Look, they can mess with my locker all they want, none of them have the guts to do anything in front of me or you. You know what they are? Insecure cowards, that's what. Insecure cowards who are so afraid of something different, something they don't understand, that they have to act just so they can feel better about themselves. And you know what? Fuck them. Fuck everybody who has anything against us being together." Jade said. "And you know what? I'm going to prove it to you. I'll tell my father about us."
"Jade... you don't..."
"Listen, if you can do it in front of your parents without a second thought, then it wouldn't be fair if I didn't do it in front of mine." Jade said as she stood up. "After all these years and what happened between me and you, I'm already more certain of this than I was of my relationship with Beck, and that should tell you everything." Jade said and walked around her car before sitting down in the driver's seat.
The ride to Jade's house was silent. Tori turned to look at her girlfriend. Jade's confidence seemed to weaken by the inch they got closer to the house. She kept fidgeting around, sighing and spacing out. And Tori's suspicion was confirmed once she parked into her driveway. Jade just sat there, the car still running, her eyes locked on her house. She took in a deep breath and turned to Tori.
"We don't have to do this." Tori said, putting her hand on Jade's. "I understand how difficult it is and I can't expect you to do this if you don't want to."
"I'm scared, Tori." Jade admitted. Tori squeezed her hand gently.
"Then let's go back to Cat's."
"No. I still want to do this. No matter how he reacts. It can't be worse than it is now." Jade said. She shut off the engine and got out of her car. Tori followed her and they stopped on the porch. Jade took another deep breath and opened the door. Both walked into the house.
"Dad?" Jade called, her voice echoing in the large house.
"Maybe he's not home." Tori said.
"Damn it. I just wanted to get this over with." Jade said.
"I know. I know."
"Fuck, and I was ready. I psyched myself up to tell him about us." Jade said, drawing her hand through her hair.
"Tell him about you two?" both turned when a woman walked out of the room into the hall. Tori recognized her from Jade's memory. It was her father's girlfriend. "What about you two?"
"None of business Gwen." Jade snarled, but Gwen only chuckled.
"Jadey, as your future mother it is my business. Now what could there be between the two of you?" Gwen thought before her mouth formed a wide grin. "It can't be."
"You fucking..." Jade said, wanting to charge at her, but Tori held her back.
"You a dyke now? What, no boy wanted to date you?" Gwen mocked, laughing at her own insult.
"Go fuck yourself, you gold digging bitch." Jade yelled back.
"What's with all this noise? I'm trying to work." The shouting stopped as Mr. West walked downstairs from his office. "Jade. What's going on?"
"Oh Roy, your daughter is about to make you so proud of her." Gwen said as she hugged her boyfriends arm.
"Huh? What? Did something happen?" Roy asked, looking at his daughter.
"Dad... I..." Jade began, but the words wouldn't leave her mouth. Tori wanted to help. To aid her somehow, but she couldn't do anything.
"Your daughter is a lesbian, Roy. And that brunette behind her is her girlfriend." Gwen said.
Tori looked at Jade who seemed as if she was about to shatter and fall apart. Roy looked at Gwen and then back at his daughter.
"Jade, is this true?" Roy asked.
Jade tried to speak. To say anything, but all she could do was nod.
"And you are her girlfriend?" Roy asked, looking at Tori now.
"Yes, sir." Tori confirmed, taking Jade's hand and squeezing it lightly.
"Huh. If I had to guess this would happen I would have guessed it would be with Catherine. Well, I'm happy for you. I was worried you would never move on from the Oliver kid." Roy said.
All three women in the room starred at Roy in disbelief. Despite every single one wanting to say something, Gwen was again the first to speak up.
"Wait, what? You are happy? Roy, your daughter is a dyke." Gwen said.
"I won't tolerate this type of language in my house." Roy said as he starred down his wife to be. "And I especially won't tolerate this type of language directed against my daughter."
"Roy..." Gwen gasped, shocked by his reaction.
"Jade, did you think I was going to be mad?" Roy asked, pulling his arm out of his girlfriends embrace and stepping closer to the Goth and half Latina.
"This...this doesn't make any sense. Since when are you so understanding and supportive?" Jade asked.
"When wasn't I? Sure, I didn't like the jewelry you put in your face, but that's just my opinion. I always supported everything you did. Your choice of school, clothing, style, boyfriends, no matter what I always supported your choice." Roy said.
"No. You never cared unless you were ashamed of it. You never came to a single play I did, you never tried to meet Beck unless I invited him over..."
"It's not true that I never cared. But Jade, I have no clue about art and I always thought that if you wanted me to get to know Beck or anyone else you would introduce them to me." Roy said.
Jade only shook her head. Tori didn't understand either. This wasn't the man Jade described in all of her stories.
"Jadelyn, I know the divorce was a difficult time for you. I tried to shelter you as much as I could but I couldn't keep you out of the courtroom until the whole custody dispute was settled. When it was I worked very hard so I could support you in every choice you made. I never had that freedom. Your grandfather made every choice in my life until I was done with college and moved out, and even then until his death he tried to keep a tight grip on my life. I don't want to do this to you. You are a smart woman, you always were. Whatever you choose to do in life, I accept it and I will always be there in case it doesn't work out. And screw it if it doesn't work out, at least you tried. As long as it makes you happy, go for it. And as far as who you are dating, it's the same thing. As long as he or she makes you happy, I'm happy for you. But as much as I won't tell you what to do or who to date, I won't let you tell me either. I know you and Gwen don't get along, but I love her and she and I are expecting a child. I hope... I hope, you two will get along one day. I really do."
Jade and Tori stood there, speechless. This time it was Jade who began trembling.
"Jade..." Tori said, but Jade only turned around, opened the door and ran outside.
"Did I say something wrong?" Mr. West asked.
"No. We just... We expected a reaction closer to those of my parents." Tori explained as she saw Jade lean on her car and cover her face with her hands.
"I'm sorry to hear that. Listen, if you two ever need anything, let me know. I know this already cannot be easy for you." Roy said.
"Thank you Mr. West." Tori said.
"Call me Roy. Now go after her." Roy said as he held the door for her.
"Thank you." Tori said and ran outside.
