Author's Note

- Megaman is owned by Capcom, something something informative message, you get the bloody deal by now

- Hey guys, been a while. August is nearing the end, school's back for the younger kids, and that means classes are back in session for me. Meh, whatever. That's what I'd like to use as an excuse, but first week of school just translates to "having a hard time finding a good place to park". That's the one downside to College that you need to live with :\

- Sides', that's not the real reason. The real reason is that Tales of Xillia 2 stole my soul due to being rly awesome. I'm almost done at this point, but still. Hahahah. This chapter marks the point where things go from "kinda srs" to "not srs" for the time being. Alright, I've wasted enough space here. Update time.

Chapter 35: Desynced

POV: Devon Terrene

Awake.

Another morning.

I yawned, stretching my arms out, being careful not to "accidentally" fall out of the tree I happened to be sleeping in. That had had more than once, and last time it had happened…

…well, let's not go into detail about that. I quickly scanned the area, noticing Lila was nowhere to be seen. Eh…she must be inside. Can't say I blame her; she never was one for sleeping on branches.

As such, I hopped off of the tree I was sleeping on, stretched out some more, and walked off, ready to get the day started….

…something doesn't seem right…

After a quick breakfast (some Coffee and a bagel, nothing too big), I decided to take a walk through the area. After I got in trouble for "accidentally" breaking one of Regal's devices (he said, "this is why you shouldn't sleep IN trees, you sleep ON them" he says. "Oh please, my life style is already weird as hell so shut up" I says.) I had to spend the night at Echo Ridge. Since I've got a bizarre (by average people's standards) habit of "refusing to sleep in a bed for one night if it's not mine", I camped out at Vista Point.

Just for the night. Nice view of the stars. I think Geo's said good things about the area, and he was right.

As I walked through the nice town, getting ready to start some more therapy for the day (better not be more god damn "painfully necessary experiments" that Goodall's made me do MULTIPLE times now) I noticed Geo waiting at the Levibus station.

I smiled, and went over to greet him…only to notice Sonia walking up to him, with a big smile on her face.

Wait. Wasn't she…?

The sight of her immediately warned me something was wrong, so I hid somewhere convenient (in this case…in a box. Hey, worked for Snake, soooo…) and got within hearing range of them.

"I can't wait to head out on an ACTUAL date today!" Sonia declared, with a big smile on her face, as she grasped Geo's hand in a death grip. As threatening as a death grip by a 13 year old can be, anyway.

Geo smiled, and started blushing. Wait, what? Blushing? What the f-

"Y-yeah. Let's just hope we don't run into any unwanted company this time…" he said in a dreamy tone, like he was reading a dirty magazine, or whatever makes 13 year old boys talk like that. Or something. Whatever.

Sonia grinned back. "Yeah, what's Luna's problem, anyway?"

Sheesh, really?

"I get that she's jealous of our love, but-"

Waitwaitwaitwait. Love? At that age? Psssh. The proper phase is "hormones", clearly not Geo and definitely not Sonia.

"-she'll just have to get used to it!" Sonia said out, in a sing-song tone. Geo nodded, and, well, peaked her on the lips. After that, the bus showed up, the pair boarded, and the bus went off.

Okay, that isn't right. Last time I checked, Sonia was likely getting violated (in this case, having to be NEAR that confounded Thiago) in a different way, and Geo wasn't even remotely interested in having a relationship.

What in the hell is going o-

God dammit. Not again.

I need to find…someone. Anyone. Preferably, someone without something happy to look forward to.

POV: Magnus

Light…

I open my eyes, seeing the light barely illuminate the room. I blinked a few times through my mask, shaking off the sleepiness.

I glanced at the flame that had contained my memories. So far, the process was going…decent, I suppose. I had regained a few basic memories, but the process had…hurt...I suppose pain was one of the first things that had come back to me.

I had also noticed that my skin was starting to feel rougher as a result of absorbing them; perhaps I was something…inhumane back before I lost my memories. I suppose it's not best to think about it too hard.

As I rose from my area at WAZA, I walked outside, noticing no one was there to greet me. Strange….I think would be the word in this case.

When I had arrived outside, I came into contact with…Belle? What is she doing here….?

"Oh great." She said in a…serious? Tone. "You're that guy who got caught spying on me."

I blinked.

"Look, buddy. I want you gone."

I continued to blink. What?

...

...fine, maybe I should say something…

"Why are you here…?" I spoke in a stoic tone. She rolled her eyes in response.

"Just, GO AWAY!" she said, this time her tone becoming…well…

I blinked once more, noticing her eyes were starting to turn bright red…well…

POV: Devon

After a quick hike to WAZA (thankfully, that doesn't take too much time when you are good at acrobatics) I came into contact with one Magnus, and a smoldering crater.

…Yeah, that's not strange or anything.

"Hey, Magneto!" I said in a casual tone, getting him to turn towards me.

"Don't call me that…what's a "Magneto" anyway?" Magnus said, his tone as stoic as ever. I smirked.

"Nothin' you need to worry about." I replied, and turned my attention towards the crater. "What up with the crater? That time of the month or something?"

Magnus blinked. Sometimes, it gets annoying when you are friends with someone who has no emotions. "I saw a fake Belle…she started to talk in a demonic tone then started to threaten me like she was evil, so I destroyed her."

I scratched the back of my head. "Not the best justification, but right now I don't blame you. Come on, follow me, something is not right."

"Define "not right"."

"Less right than usual."

"Which makes it…?"

I smirked again. "Super not right. Look, point of the matter is that something is not right, so come with me."

Magnus blinked at me in response, and nodded.

POV: Magnus

"What exactly is wrong here…?" I asked quietly. Devon pointed down.

I saw Geo and Sonia walking through Spica Mall, holding hands.

Nothing too wrong. I think…

"Well, that for starters." Devon replied, scratching the back of his head.

I blinked at him. "So…? They're friends."

"Sonia's also currently evil and kidnapped, remember?" Devon stated back, his facial features looking…serious. I think that's the word.

"Unless you think something happened overnight, something is amiss here." Devon continued, placing a pair of fingers to his forehead to think.

I stared at him for a moment, then looked down. "Perhaps we should talk to them…?"

"Not until we know what's going on."

"Well, what do you impose we do in the mean time?"

Devon sighed, and looked down. As I was about to say something again, I heard a crack. I glanced about for a moment, before noticing that the beam we were hiding on was beginning to break.

It took Devon a moment to notice it to. When he did, he frowned.

POV: Normal

As Geo and Sonia walked "romantically" throughout the mall, holding each other's hands, Luna glanced from behind a shopping sign, looking extremely bitter.

"That should be ME doing that…!" she said, as some steam rose from her head, cartoon style. As she continued to flare, Bud pulled out a hot dog on a stick from out of nowhere, and started to roast a hot dog on it.

"We NEED to ruin their date!" Luna cried out, still angry.

Zack frowned. "But Prez." He said, flipping through a notebook. "The Zackapedia says that ruining dates is the best way to RUIN friendships."

Bud nodded, chewing on the hot dog in question. "Yeah! Maybe we should just let them go…"

Luna glared at the both of them with fire in her eyes. Literal fire too; Bud and Zack felt the heat of those flames easily.

Before Luna could roar at them, complete with an over the top roar that resembled Cybeast Gregar, a beam collapsed, causing Devon and Magnus to fall from their hiding spot, in plain view of…well, everybody.

…and in the process, destroy a super expensive prototype new Hunter-VG that was secure in a glass case. A few gasps came from the crowd.

Devon was the first to rise. "Yeah..that was pleasant…" he mumbled, pulling a glass shard from his ass. "Why do I always fall on things that cause pain…?"

As he helped Magnus get back on his feet (and remove a few shards from his mask) the owner, a small man about Zack's height and a head bigger than his hairdo walked in, looking angry.

"YOU! YOU BREAK DEVICE! YOU PAY NOW! 10 MILLION ZENNY!"

Devon cringed. "Oh, wonderful! The bad example stereotype angry man!" he mused, rubbing his hand through his temple. "Calm down, duder. You're causing a scene and making the readers likely cringe-"

"YOU NO PAY?!" he yelled out, his face turning beet red. "POLICE! THESE TWO BREAK MY THINGS WITHOUT PAYING! THEY CRIMINALS!"

Devon frowned, and Magnus blinked. As they turned around *somehow* about 12 WAZA units (and Megaman…and Harp Note…) had weapons pinned on them and angry faces. Really angry faces. You know, like this. "D:" Just to give you an idea since it can be annoying to write emotions out.

"These guys must be part of that evil corporation we heard about yesterday, Neo-Nebula!" Megaman cried out, fixing the aim on his buster.

Magnus blinked. Devon sighed. "You've got to be kidding…the hell's a "Neo-Nebula"? That sounds like an unnecessary plot point to re-introduce something bad."

Magnus glanced at him. "Kind of like the UL...?" The balancer shrugged in response. "Should we fight back…?"

"That doesn't sound like the BEST idea, you know." Devon replied, in a dry tone. "Fighting would be easy. It would also complicate things and make stuff longer than usual. So, let's just surren-"

He was cut off by Geo blasting him in the face with a charged shot. Devon groaned in pain, as he glanced at Geo.

"Hey…! We're surrendering! Don't do th-"

He was cut off by Geo using about 12 sword fighter cards at poor Devon, causing him to collapse. Magnus blinked.

"Sword fighters…what a noob…" Magnus managed out before suffering the same fate. See, this is what happens when you get caught off guard and forget to shield, idiots. And pack Super Armor.

With the "threats" dealt with, Harp Note glomped Megaman happily. "Yah! Good job!" she said happily. Geo flushed with a grin on his face, as the two made out. Tongue and everything. Yeah. Sounds appealing, right? Too bad, now have this mental image: neither forgot to clean their mouths out earlier, sooo…..

As the kiddies made out, Luna was in the corner, fuming, Bud was making another hot dog, and Zack was staring at the mess as if something was wrong. Afterwords, the agents grabbed the unconscious bodies of Devon and Magnus, and dragged them somewhere…

"Did I mention how pleasant this is going?" Devon groaned out, having regained consciousness. Inside a jail cell.

Magnus said nothing. "This was your idea, remember that." He mumbled, as he stared at the bars. "Now we're trapped in here, no weapons, no mean of escap-"

"Escape? Oh, right. Time to leave." Devon cut him off, as he lifted one of his boots up to his hand level. Magnus stared at him for a moment, as Devon pulled out a lockpicking kit from a hidden compartment on the bottom of his boot.

"Why in the hell do you have that…?" Magnus stated, looking as confused as a guy can get when you lack emotions.

Devon smiled. "Eh, I'm crazy. I'm totally crazy." He said, as he went to picking the lock.

After a few moments, the door opened, and Devon ran into the corner, retrieving their gear. As he tossed Magnus his Hunter and the MAX loader, he stated, "Sheesh, since when do the good guys keep stolen gear in an easy to reach area? What is this, Ocelot's torture chamber?"

Magnus paid no attention, having no idea what he was talking about.

As they prepared to leave, Devon said out one last time, "Oh, and make sure you check your gear. They may have planted a bomb or somethin' in it. Better safe than sorry!" he said, dashing off.

Magnus blinked at him. Of all of the companions he had to be stuck with for this arc, he had to have gotten the strangest one with the most experience…

As they made it outside without too much trouble (again, surprisingly) the pair started to speak.

"No guards, eh? Sheesh. Yeah, this confirms my suspension."

Magnus blinked at his companion. "What are you talking about…?"

Devon sighed. "Well, that we are-hey, look! It's Bolt…and he's…ah…"

He was at a loss of words. Bolt was in the corner, juggling. Fireballs. Don't ask, don't tell, because it sure as hell won't make sense.

Magnus blinked in an awkward motion, and the two walked over to Bolt. He smiled happily as he saw familiar faces.

"Heya guys!" Bolt said enthusiastically. "Check it out! I've always wanted to juggle! It's been my greatest dream!"

Devon shook his head. "Hmmm. Okay, stop. We need to talk."

Bolt did as complied, tossing his fireballs skyward. All three of them hit Devon square in the head, igniting his hair. Bolt gave a quick gasp.

Devon, upon noticing, sighed, made a hand motion and mumbled some words, which caused some water to hit his head, putting out the flames. "Anyway, I know what's going on."

"What?" Bolt asked, yearning to go back to juggling.

"We are stuck in a dream. Hence why you are suddenly able to do something you've secretly yearned for." Bolt rose an eyebrow, and Magnus remained stoic.

"Magnus isn't infected because he lacks memories to make proper dreams, I'm guessing I'm not infected because I'm magical and can resist this stuff…" he stated, scratching the back of his head. "And I'm guessing you aren't infected because your dream is so…simple." He finished, as he continued to scratch the back of his head.

Bolt blew a raspberry. "How are you so certain it's a dream?"

"Good. They seem to be taking the stuff nicely." Oni mumbled in a quite tone.

"Now, to make those fools vulnerable."

"Well, apart from the fact that so far I've seen stuff like in on of my friend's bad fanfiction…" Devon started, scratching the back of his head."There's that…" he said as casually as possible, pointing to a VERY large beam of light coming towards them.

Bolt gasped, Magnus' eyes widened, and Devon sighed casually.

"Another one of those days." Devon managed to say out, before the light engulfed the three of them…

Hey, don't get the wrong idea. Shipping fics can be good if they are written properly/cutely. But, the other parts of the time...yeah. Gray's seen some stuff. Alright, so thus far the adult and the two kids are in a dream world. What more could go wrong...?

...if you guessed "silliness", then you are correct. See you peoples later.
