Chapter 36

Paige's turn

After everyone was rested it was time for Paige to take the plunge. Phoebe and Prue had told her that it comes in spurts and to be ready for anything. They were concerned about her ability to orb and had to block it while she was under the influence of the potion, but they did not know how or want to stop her other powers. She drank it down and stayed home as it slowly began to kick in. Just like the others it started slowly at first, voices and then noises. At times she could hear something crawling around in the walls and occasionally placed her ear against it. She would try to focus on doing to her paperwork from her job, but the letters would move around making up new words telling her she was a waste of space or that her sisters were also a waste. It wasn't just a bad things it said about her but also what they said about her family including her foster parents. She tossed the paperwork a crossed the room as though the words were real. Phoebe and Prue both just kept their distance as they saw her go into an episode. She would mumble to herself saying how wrong they were. That lasted for over 30 minutes until she sat down and started talking to Phoebe about ancient prophecies.

"The Mayans had it right you know?" she asks and Phoebe just nodded as she was not sure where this conversation was going. "Not sure about all the pajamas and Nostradamus was very vague," she said and was waiting for some kind of response, but all she got back was sympathetic smiles and eyes that would not look into hers. "Hay why won't you look at me when I am talking to you?"

"I am honey," Prue replied.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Paige asks as it seemed they were staring at her and she immediately felt very uncomfortable. Both Prue and Phoebe looked away trying to find a happy balance between the two but Paige was not liking either scenario.

"They are going to hurt you." a voice said and she shook her head side to side not wanting to believe it.

"They are demons."

"No they're not," Paige said while continuing to shake her head not wanting to believe, but her brain would not accept any other answer. "Out side!" she yelled with her hand stretched out and Phoebe orbed away as Prue's mouth was agape. Paige has never been able to do that before and now she wished they did block her powers.

"Oh my god," Prue said and got up to run outside to make sure Phoebe was in one piece or she was there at all. The other reason was she was afraid of where Paige would orb her. She opened the door and Phoebe was standing there just as shocked as she was. "Are you ok?"

"Yes but holy shit Prue, she could have orbed me anywhere," Phoebe replied as Prue shut the door behind her so they could talk.

"I had no idea she could do that," Prue said.

"Yeah me either," Phoebe said as they could hear crashing noises coming from inside. "I don't know what to do, if we go in there she could orb us to the moon or something."

"What if she is under attack?" Prue asks and they both rushed in as a demon who picked the possible worst timing decided to go after one of them.

"Your not real," Paige said and went back to her paperwork as blood was coming down the side of her head where the demon tossed her against the wall. He pulled out a knife and walked over to her as she sat down and had her back to him. Paige turned and saw Phoebe and Prue.

"Underworld!" she yelled and both her sisters orbed away just before Prue was about to blow him up. They materialized in the underworld.

"Oh my god, oh my god Prue," Phoebe said as she began to panic.

"Leo can't hear us down here," Prue said as she too was also beginning to panic.

"We don't know how to get back up," Phoebe said as a few demons rounded the corner.

"Who are you?" one asks as he formed a fireball.

"None of your concern," Prue replied and blasted one while Phoebe froze the other. Prue used her telekinesis to send him into a piece of rock that had a point to it. It impaled him and he exploded.

"Maybe Leo will know something is wrong," Prue said as they looked for a place to hide.

Leo was giving Piper a massage when he bent over in pain. "Leo," Piper said as she sat up quickly.

"Paige," he grunted.

"Go,go," Piper said and they orbed away and back to the manner. A demon was standing over Paige with a bloody knife as she was on the floor on her stomach.

"No," Piper gasp and tried to use her powers," Dammit," she said while her hands were extended. The demon saw them and form an energy ball.

"Piper get down," Leo said as he rushed him and Piper dove behind the couch right as the energy ball flew past her. Leo tackled him to the ground and used the knife to kill him after a struggle. Piper went to Paige and turned her over, she then checked for signs of life and felt a slight throbbing on her neck, which meant there was still a heartbeat. Leo immediately went to heal her as Piper looked around for her other sisters.

"Where is Prue and Phoebe?" she asks.

"I don't know, I can't sense them," Leo replied as he continued to heal.

"Leo what does that mean?" Piper asks as she knew the possible answers but didn't like either one of them.

"Paige may know something," he replied as she began to wake," You ok?" he asks but she immediately pulled away and crawled backwards to the wall.

"Get away," she replied harshly.

"Paige its us, where is Prue and Phoebe?" Piper asks.

"Arctic!" Paige replied and both Leo and Piper orbed away. They were now standing in 40 below temperatures and it took their breaths away.

"Leo what the hell?" Piper asks as her entire body shivered.

"I don't know but we need to get back," he replied and wrapped his arms around her as they orbed back to the Manor. They ended up in the attic as they needed to figure out what was going on.

"Why would Paige do that?" Piper asks while her body was getting used to the warmer temperature.

"You stay up here and if she comes up, you need to hide," Leo replied as he did remember them telling him what they were going to do and figured she was experiencing an episode.

"Leo," Piper said as he ran downstairs to say the spell that would remove it. He did not want to tell her what they were doing at least not yet.

Paige was still in the corner as she was being barraged by a plethora of voices and noises. Dark thoughts were also running through her head.

"They are going to kill you."

"No its fine."

"You should run."

Leo said the spell and after a few moments she began to blink rapidly as her mind became clear. "Leo what happened?" she asks.

"Paige do you know where Prue and Phoebe are?" he asks as he helped her stand.

"Um oh god, I orbed them away," she replied frighteningly.

"Where?" he asks hoping it was not the Arctic as they would probably already be dead.

"Underworld," Paige replied and Leo orbed away as Piper could no longer stay upstairs.

"Paige are you ok?" Piper asks.

"Yeah honey, I'm fine, just another demon attack," Paige replied nonchalantly but her inside were swirling.

Leo orbed back with Prue and Phoebe who both looked like they spent the night in a sauna and then rolled around in the dirt. They had some scratches and bruises that Leo healed once they sat down.

"What happened to you two?" Piper asks as she got them some water.

"Um we got taken to the underworld but Leo found us, so its ok," Prue replied as she took the cup of water from Piper's shaking hands. She placed hers on Piper's and smiled softly," we are okay," she said knowing that Piper was stressed.

"You guys can go back to the ski Lodge now, we killed the demons responsible," Phoebe said as she wanted to talk to Paige.

"No you guys were just attacked and she almost died, I don't want to go back," Piper said and went to the kitchen.

"Piper what are you doing?" Leo asks while following her.

"Making dinner apparently they had not eaten while I've been gone, they look horrible," Piper replied and Leo rubbed her back.

"Ok sweetie," he said softly and kissed her on the cheek.

Back in the living room Paige hugged her other sisters hard as she could not believe what she just did. "I am so sorry," she said.

"Paige its ok its not your fault," Prue said as she relinquished her grasp.

"I orbed Piper and Leo to the Arctic, what if I would have done that to you guys, you would be dead," Paige said as her body was still shaking slightly.

"Well you didn't so don't worry about it, I take it Leo did the spell to get read of it?" Phoebe asks.

"Yeah, I know I did not go through the full 10 hours, but considering what just happened I think I have a good grasp of what she goes through," Paige replied as Leo came back in while Piper was making dinner.

"Is the experiment done?" he asks.

"Yes and Leo the plants better work or I don't know what we are going to do," Phoebe replied as they began to recall their own experiences.

"They will," he said as Piper told them dinner was ready. They all went into enjoy a homemade dinner as for the last two days they have not been eating well. So far Piper seemed to be ok except for the occasional staring into space or changing subjects. They now understood more of what it was like and handle things better. Prue kept her patience as she knew it was not her fault and came to a conclusion, that Piper was much stronger than she imagined as she has been dealing with this for months.
