Rumor involving: Echizen Nanjiro – aka Samurai Nanjiro, former regular member of the Seigaku tennis team, and former professional tennis player. Also involving: Ryoma - freshman and regular member of Seigaku tennis team (aka Ochibi). Also involving: Ryuzaki Sakuno – student at Seishun Gakuen, Seigaku cheerleader, has a crush on Ryoma, and member of the girl's tennis team. Also involving: Sakuno's father (un-named).
Coach Ryuzaki taught Echizen Nanjiro. Echizen Ryoma and Ryuzaki Sakuno are the same age. Ergo, rumor has it that Echizen Nanjiro and Sakuno's father were friends in high school. They apparently hung out and talked about how harsh Coach Ryuzaki was. In fact, it is rumored that Sakuno's father was the fukubuchou when Nanjiro was the buchou. I don't know if it's true or not, but you have to admit that it makes sense. Here is another thing I heard… although Sakuno doesn't remember it, she actually played when Ryoma when they were toddlers. Multiple times in fact. I heard there is photographic evidence. Hmmmm. Maybe that's why Sumire offered to let Sakuno stay with her so she could attend Seishun Gakuen. I mean she already knew Ryoma was going to be a student even if Sakuno didn't. So apparently, when Nanjiro would visit Japan or when Sakuno's father would be in the States, they always arranged to get together and reminisce, which is when their children would play together. I did hear Ryoma hit Sakuno with a tennis racket one time… maybe that's why she can't remember ever meeting him.
