Robin stood at the end of the table. This room was called the conference room, and to be completely honest, Raven didn't even know the room existed before today. The whole floor used to be dedicated to security and surveillance, but with new technologies, that sort of equipment took up so little space that they split the floor in half. The elevator now opened into a small sitting area, with the conference room on the right and the surveillance room on the left, full of screens with images of the tower and high profile areas around the city.
The conference room had a long table with twenty seats. Behind Robin's seat at the head of the table was a projector screen, and in the back corner of the room beside the screen was a leafy plant leaning against the full size window facing the city.
The seating chart was always the same. Starfire sat at Robin's right hand, and Beast Boy sat at his left. Beast Boy gave Raven the seat next to him, saying: "It's about time that seat is used. When we built the room and designed the seating chart, we had to leave a spot for you."
Raven sat between Beast Boy and Aqualad. Further down the row sat Speedy, Kole, two empty seats, Mas and Menos. Beast Boy told her the empty seats were for honorary titans, like Red Star or Bushido, who rarely came by but occasionally needed to discuss things with them. Across the table next to Starfire, the row went Bumblebee, Flash (formerly, Kid Flash), then five empty seats: one for Jinx who was home with a newborn baby, one for Hotspot who was absent, and three more empty spots saved for honorary titans. A blonde business woman sat in the last seat, her hair neatly tied up in a bun. She wore heels and had a notepad out in front of her, but she was in a conversation with Cyborg and smiling.
"Who is that?" Raven asked.
"Rose," Beast Boy replied. "You remember her?"
"Yeah." Raven leaned back in her chair. "Slade's daughter. Jade's half sister. What's she doing here?"
"She runs the Titans North now," Beast Boy said.
"Why'd she leave the team?"
Beast Boy shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "We uh," Beast Boy started. "We kinda dated for a while?"
Raven glanced back over at the blonde. "She looks to neat for you."
"We had our differences," Beast Boy said.
Across the table from them, Bumblebee was leaning over looking at Flash's phone as Flash flipped through baby pictures. "Jinx is freaking out. Yesterday, he raised the couch four feet off the ground. Takes after his mom, that boy," Flash was saying.
"He's adorable." Rose had wandered over, peering over their shoulder. "What did you name him?"
"Barry," Flash said. "After the man who would have been his godfather."
Rose frowned and nodded. "That's really sweet. Congratulations, I am so happy for you to."
Raven looked to Beast Boy, who whispered, "Barry Allen died in the line of duty a few years ago. That was when Wally became Flash."
"Titans!" Nightwing's words ended the side conversations, and Rose returned to her seat. "What we need right now is a plan. As you know, Jade is due to give birth soon, and we need to best protect her, most importantly, keep the baby away from Trigon."
"The Tower still has the danger room that we built for our last fight with Trigon," Cyborg said.
"I think we should move base outside the tower," Rose replied. "I can arrange for a safe house for Jade, and I think it would be best if she was accompanied by fully qualified Titans."
Nightwing nodded. "Raven, if you take Starfire and Bumblebee to protect Jade at the safe house, do you think she'd be safe?"
"Arrange two safe houses." The voice came from the doorway, where Slade stood. He didn't enter the room completely, but he stood in the arch of the door, addressing Nightwing. "I missed my invitation to the meeting where we are discussing my daughter's safety."
"Didn't think you were much of a family man," Rose replied.
Slade ignored her and he crossed the room, taking the seat next to Flash, the one that Jinx would have been in. "Anyway, Raven and I cannot accompany Jade when the baby is to be born. Trigon and Raven have always shared a very strong telepathic connection. Anywhere Raven goes, Trigon will be able to find her."
"Raven avoided Trigon on Earth for a long time before we found her," Nightwing reminded Slade. "This is Raven's choice."
"Slade's right," Raven responded. "Trigon didn't use the connection to find me last year, probably because he didn't want me to know he was looking, but the connection is there."
"When I started working for Trigon, he began to track me as well. My recommendation is to set up two safe houses. We send Jade to one with highly qualified agents. During the delivery itself is when Jade and the baby will be the most vulnerable. Putting Raven and myself together in another safe house will throw Trigon off that trail. My bet is that he will follow us, because he will assume that we wouldn't leave Jade."
"Raven isn't going anywhere with you," Nightwing replied.
"It's the best plan, Robin," Slade said. "You know how good I am with plans."
"He's right," Raven replied.
"I'll go too," Beast Boy offered. Nightwing looked to Starfire.
"I will go with Jade," Starfire said. "I believe this plan to be our best option."
"I'll join Star," Bumblebee said. "I've delivered babies before."
"And I have given birth. We will be a glorious team," Starfire promised.
