Platinum swam upwards, quickly coming to a halt. A coral reef met her eyes beyond the mountain, almost more colors than she knew filling it. Streams of light radiated from the ocean surface. In a few places across the expanse, she saw schools of fish, a few startled by her and fleeing. To the north-west, she spotted a skeletal whale, seeming to drift upon a current.
She smiled at the sight. As always, the sea had much to show her. A soft hand came on her shoulder, and she turned back, meeting Sapphire's warm eyes. Her knight smiled back.
"Whatcha think?" Sapphire communed telepathically. Such was a necessity, underwater.
"It's pretty," Platinum conveyed. Silently, she turned back to it. Sapphire swam forward a bit, taking her queen's hand into her own. Platinum smiled, lightly deepening her hold on her knight's hand.
A rainbow of fish soon emerged, the water and the coral wilds positively swirling with color. The ambient noise of hissing bubbles was almost constant. Platinum eagerly watched the improv show of nature. The skeletal whale leisurely crossed by, in from the west.
Platinum abruptly heard Sapphire's voice, "Let's go home," and agreed after a momentary pause. They turned around, a different landscape meeting their eyes. Off in the distance laid pyramidal houses, all clustered around a castle.
Sapphire looked intently around while they swam. Platinum swam leisurely, feeling secure in Sapphire's presence. Their return home took the better part of thirty minutes and went uneventfully.
While they crossed the street to the palace, they saw a few merpeople - an old man, a father with his daughter, a woman city-gazing from above a house, a manwhore by the name of Esteban.
"This trip was fun, if a bit short," Platinum said, once they had reached the courtyard. Sapphire could only agree - not three hours spent on it.
