Chapter- The Start of something new

One and a half month later

It was twenty till opening, and Larry helped me with my new, Security guard jacket,"There you go!"

I looked down, the uniform was only temporary until after opening weekend, then, I'd have to wait until summer or after collage if I REALLY wanted to work at the museum.

Larry and I walked out into the floor, and Dr. McPhee joined us in a cute little suit,"Well, well, well, well!"

" Hey," Larry and I greeted him at the same time.

"I see the uniform still fits
after these long, long years," Dr. McPhee teased Larry.

"Yeah," Larry said with a happy sigh,"yeah. Really hasn't been that long, but..."

"So, to what do we owe
this "triumphant" return," Dr. McPhee smiled an started using his finger as air quotes," Not cut out for the "corporate" jungle after all. Got fired."

"No, actually, I sold my company," Larry told him.

"The world doth move in mysterious ways," Dr. McPhee said out of the blue,"One day, we've got to get rid of everything old, the next, a rich, anonymous donor gives a huge endowment," he paused then added,"With a proviso: everything stays the same. So..."

"Well, not exactly the same, " I pointed out. A the "animatronics" and the "special Effects" walked around.

"obviously," Dr. McPhee agreed.

"No," Larry agreed as I walked away to see how everyone was doing.

"Bully, lads and ladies," Teddy said to his tour group as Kota and I walked past," the name is Theodore Roosevelt, naturalist, Rough Rider and twenty-sixth President of these great United States. Come along, lad. The hunt is afoot!"

"Hey, you dum-dums bring me gum-gum," the Easter head asked a group of tourist. I sniggered and kept going.

I smiled as Attila and his fellow Huns had story time with some families, and laughed along the way. Then moved on to Ahk and Dexter.

Dexter held the tablet and Ahk did his little speech,"My parents gave me this tablet some 3,000 years ago, entrusting me with one of my people's most prized possessions."

"Does it do anything," I almost laughed as one of the little girls asked him.

"Do anything," Ahk repeated for clarification.

"Yeah. What's the point
if it doesn't do anything," asked the older sister of the girl who had spoken the question.

"Tell 'em," I heard Dexter chirp.

Ahk smiled as he got more on the girls levels and told them the truth,"Actually, it has a magical power that brings all the exhibits to life."

"No, really, what's it do," the older girl asked right after he said that. I threw my hand over my mouth to contain my giggles.

Ahk had a disgusted and disappointed look in his face as he lied,"Nothing. It's just for decoration."

"I knew it," the little sister whispered.

The tour group move away and I joined my two friends,"Hey," I laughed,"At least you tried," I winked at them before walking back towards the front.

Three teens stood starting at Rexy, who was faking his movements as not to scare guests right when they entered. Maybe in a couple months he'd get to move around.

"This place is lame," said the middle one and I smirked at them knowing what was to come if they kept bad mouthing the museum,"This thing doesn't even look real."

"Seriously, dude," said the one on the end,"these animatronics suck."

Rexy suddenly snapped out of his slow movements and roared at them, scarring the teens and several others away. I looked down at Kota,"Was it mean that I didnt warn them?"

Kota shook himself, and I took that as a no.
