Chapter 34
Tanith
She finally found where her parents were staying. They had managed to get a house which they shared with another couple. Tanith was staying at the tavern; Ghastly had told her that he knew the owner so he gave her a room so she didn't have to pay. Which she was grateful for. She knocked on the door and waited for her parents to answer. Finally her dad opened the door with the biggest smile she had seen in a long time on his face.
"Hi Dad" hugging him, she hadn't been able to speak to them since she had arrived.
"Hello sweetie" he hugged her even tighter, she tried to remember the last time she had actually hugged him. It must have been before they had been taken by Mevolent years ago, even in prison she couldn't get to them easily.
"How are you feeling?" she asked while she was being squeezed half to death by her father.
"Good, No brilliant" his London accent shone through
"Where's Mom?" noticing her mother hadn't appeared
"She went out with Joyce" releasing me from the bone crushing hug
"Joyce?"
"Oh, there's another couple living here as well, Joyce is one of them"
"Oh, right that's nice for her I suppose"
"Yeah, come in" he moved out of the way so she could enter. The house wasn't very big, Two bedrooms, a Lounge and a Kitchen. It wasn't much but it was enough. "I would offer you a drink but I haven't done any washing up yet" he chuckled.
"It's okay, how are they treating you"
"Better than the palace" he sighed
"I'm sorry" she mumbled she meant to support her family not condemn them.
"Don't be you silly girl, It wasn't your fault that we were captured you weren't to know what he was planning"
"I know, I tried to help you though" sitting on the wooden chair near the kitchen has her dad busied his way around the kitchen.
"I know sweetheart" he came over and put his hand on her shoulder "You're gonna make me hug you again are you" he joked.
There was a bang and her mother came bundling through, with a tall woman, with black shoulder length hair. Joyce that was her name! Tanith thought.
Joyce saw Tanith a broke down in tears and enveloped her in another bone crushing hug.
"Thank you, thank you thank you" she whispered into Tanith's hair. While Tanith awkwardly patted the woman on the shoulder.
"You're welcome"
"Umm, you two know each other then?" Tanith's mother asked as Joyce released Tanith now it was her mothers turn to hug her guess it's just my day for hugs Tanith thought
"Yeah, Mevolent told me to assassinate her husband but I told them to run for the hills instead"
"What did Mevolent say?" Her mother asked going to stand next to her father.
"I told him I killed her husband and sunk the body, he never asked to see the bodies so I could lie about what actually happened"
"Thank you, you let us have a new start"
"You're welcome, to be honest I thought you left the country, but as long as your safe I don't think it actual matters" Tanith smiled.
"You staying for dinner Tanith?" her mother asked
"Yeah, can I have some one round for dinner?"
"Sure, who?"
Her parents were over thrilled when she told them who she wanted them to meet.
