Note: I do not own any of these characters….except Ardesind. But he's only here a bit. R&R! I'm just having some fun trying my had at FanFic!

You guys. I am SOOOOOOOO sorry about the wait on these next few chapters! I've been FLOODED with schoolwork and tests and work and life and I haven't been on the computer to update. Good news though! This weekend (aside from Saturday afternoon) will be spent writing more for each one of you! :) Tonight and tomorrow night especially. Now, I know it's a bit gutsy of me to do this to the story, but it'll all make sense as we go. Stick with me!

Drop me a note as well, if you have a mo! I love love LOVE getting them! Enjoy :)

"The peace bringer and savior of many will give his life to one, willingly out of love. And at that one's hand, he will experience death for the last time. Races and peoples will mourn him, but none more that that soul that took his life away. And one day, after the universe ends its tears, another will rise. A new life will form and take his place as protector and a new Timelord will rise. But only once HER tears and anguish are put in the past can this new Timelord finally come, for she will not forgive what has been done until the very end. The end will come and she will need the answer to her question to save her life. The one who answers will, indeed, earn the greatest gift there is to gain."

The words wouldn't stop playing in the Doctor's head as he held River close, swaying slowly to the beat.

No wonder she's been having problems lately. She found the prophesy and it scares her. Ether she doesn't think she can forgive herself or she thinks she already has but she can't let herself be grateful for it. She doesn't understand what it means. I don't even understand what it means.

He pointed his screwdriver at the console and the music faded. His beautiful wife was almost asleep in his arms. He gently lifted her into his arms, carried her to her room and helped her get ready for bed but his thoughts were elsewhere. They had been in a whirlwind ever since he'd seen all she had been through. This prophesy was a big deal. He needed to find out more about it. He wanted to help her in every way possible to figure this one out.

If only I could get every detail. Then I'd be able to piece it together better. The scribes were a lazy bunch, always paraphrasing where least convenient.

The only way he could get that information effectively was to go back to when the prophesy was given and listen to the discussion. It was far too dangerous for her to go with him. Not only would there be physical danger, but the subject of a prophesy being at the time and place of when it was given would create a paradox. Not the good kind of paradox. The kind that could potentially destroy the whole of reality.

She wouldn't be pleased about having to stay behind. He didn't even know how long he would be gone for.

Getting there would be easy, it was leaving and being back sometime close to when he left that would be the problem. The Ancients had a mechanism for keeping people trapped in the temporal field. If you tried to leave via teleportation or time travel of any sort, you'd find yourself trapped in a temporal shift.

I could be gone days or weeks or even years. He gulped silently and tried to think of another way to solve this problem. He didn't want to leave her. He wanted to stay with her and be there for her as things progressed.

There is no other way. he realized sadly.

Still deep in thought, the Doctor tucked River in and walked around to the other side of the bed, climbing in next to her. He leaned over to her and gently kissed her forehead. She sighed and smiled, scooting closer and wrapping her arms around him.

There the stayed, River sleeping quietly and the Doctor trying to think of the right way to tell his love that he had to leave and couldn't promise to be back soon.
