Movie: Bonds Beyond Time
Sapphira's P.O.V.
" Ready Sapphira?" I nodded as I got my duel disk on so that we could go. Today was the Domino Duel Tournament that was going to be hosted by Pegasus. Yugi and I were excited about the tournament, that was for sure. I was hoping to face Yugi in the finals so that we could see how strong we were and to give the audience a good show. Yugi was always someone who could push me to my limits during a duel. So I wanted to face him in the finals to make the announcement that we were going to make worth and to have some fun as well. Besides, we had decided that if any of us won that we world tell the media about our relationship.
We left the house with Grandpa to go to the Town Square where the tournament was going to be held. Grandpa was quite impressed about how many people showed up. My motorcycle was parked near an apartment complex close by, so I would see if it someone was trying to steal it. I was clinging to Yugi's left arm out of excitement as we walked into the middle of the Town Square. Yugi was smiling at me and I gave him one back as Grandpa mentioned how much attraction this tournament was getting.
" This certainly is a good turnout." We smiled brightly at him as Yugi spoke. " And it's no wonder why. The rumor is Pegasus himself is going to be here." I nodded smiling brightly as I answered. " He is the host for the tournament, after all, since he did tell me on the phone yesterday." They all smiled as Pegasus came out of his helicopter as it landed to address the crowd. He gave Yugi and I a look that told us he knew what we were about to reveal to the whole world and that he wished us luck.
Then some dragon that I've never seen before appeared above us. I immediately sensed that something was off about this and so did Draco as he appeared in spirit form. Lady Sapphira! You and Lord Yugi are in danger! You need to get out of there now! Right after Draco sent me the warning, the Dragons attacked a building near Pegasus, sending the crowd into a panic and separating us from Grandpa. Seeing that a building was about to fall near us, I quickly grabbed Yugi and got him out of there just as the building fell right next to us. However, I couldn't get to Grandpa because of our separation and calling him to search for him would cause the crowd to go into an even bigger panic than they were already in.
I immediately turned to Yugi to make sure that he was alright. " Are you alright, Yugi?!" He groaned as I helped him get up before he spoke. " Thanks Phira. I really do have to thank your Tombkeeper heritage. Is Grandpa alright?" I shook my head sadly before I answered.
" I don't know Yugi. We got separated and I couldn't find him in time without asking Draco to appear, which was the last thing we needed. We need to find him! If he's dead, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself!" Yugi shook his head before he answered. " It won't be your fault if he is Sapphira! It will be the one who caused this!"
I nodded as we began to look for Grandpa. Eventually, we did find his bandana and cried over his death. Then we looked at one of the rooftops and saw a strange man in a mask laughing about the destruction around us. Then suddenly, a huge red dragon appeared and swallowed us whole before we landed on one of the rooftops of Town Square with it looking like nothing ever happened. However, our landing wasn't exactly very soft, but Yugi caught me to make sure that he got the worst of the landing. " Are you alright, Phira?" I nodded as I tried to get my bearings. "Yeah, I'm alright Yugi, just a little disoriented is all."
He helped me to sit up. " What was that?" Yugi shook his head at my question. He didn't know the answered either. Then Suddenly, a huge red motorcycle with a weird design appeared with two riders. One of them had black crab-like hair with golden highlights with some strange tattoo on his check and dark blue eyes. The other had a two tone brown hair with brown eyes and a fun-loving expression. They came to us and introduced themselves as Jaden Yuki for the brown haired and the one with the crab hair was Yusei Fudo.
When we were about to introduce themselves, Yusei interrupted us. " Oh, you don't have to tell us who you are Yugi, or you Sapphira." I immediately put up my guard at that comment, which Yugi immediately noticed. " Sapphira is your girlfriend as well as the Egyptian Champion, right?" We immediately blushed at that and yelled the same thing at our embarrassment. " How did you find out?! No one is supposed to know about that outside our circle of friends and family until after one of us wins the tournament!" Yusei and Jaden chuckled at our reactions.
Then Jaden tells us both that they're from the future, which shocks us both. Then Jaden acts likes it was no big deal, setting me off big-time. I grabbed Jaden by the neck and was glaring at him fiercely for his comment, shocking Yusei and causing Yugi to give me a blank stare, waiting for me to calm down. He knows that sometimes I have trouble controlling my temper, especially if it's about a sensitive topic like the one that Jaden just brought up. It's better if he just lets me let off some steam and let me calm down on my own. If I actually do hurt someone when I'm like this, I immediately feel guilty about it until Yugi calms me down by saying ' It wasn't your fault, you needed to release that anger before it exploded and then they would have been far worse that they are now', which usually works.
Both Jaden and Yusei could sense the anger that was rolling off of me in waves as I yelled at Jaden. " For your information, Jaden, saying that you're from the future is a big deal around here! You can't just go saying it like it's no big deal, when it really is! Anyone here would do anything to change something, but they can't! So don't go saying it like it's nothing because around here it means something!" He nodded looking scared at what I could do to him and I let him go and refused to look at him as Yugi held me to his chest in an effort of trying to calm me down from what I could've done to him if I got angrier at Jaden for bringing up a sensitive topic. It reminded me of the pain I went through as a child, and Yugi could tell that was the reason I acted so violently. He could always tell what I was feeling when no one else could and I could do the same with him which comforted me and I knew that he felt the same way.
Yusei and Jaden gave us looks that asked us what just happened as Jaden was trying to catch his breath. Yugi looked at me sadly asking for permission to tell them. I nodded as he helped me to stand up with him. Then he turned to Yusei and Jaden to explain while I clung to his arm looking down, refusing to meet their eyes.
" I'm sorry about that. You see, Phira has an explosive temper. You say the wrong word or action, and you're looking for a whole world of trouble. She's had a rough life growing up in Egypt. She was picked on for her hair and became antisocial because of the constant bullying. The only one who was ever able to reach her at that time was Seto Kaiba and he even helped her to learn how to fight back from the bullies. That was over five years ago." I moved closer to him and he patted the top of my head as he continued his explanation.
" Duel Monsters was the only thing that she could relate to and she didn't want to worry her family with her problems. Sometimes she has trouble controlling her temper. It was only because you touched a sensitive subject that she acted like that. It reminded her of her past and of the bullying she went through as a child." Yusei and Jaden had a look of understanding as they realized why I acted so violently to Jaden's words.
" You're lucky that you didn't get off worse, but thankfully, she was holding back. She's a black belt in all forms of martial arts, and she's not afraid to use them. One time she kicked a criminal in the shin, who was holding her at gunpoint at a restaurant. The guy was actually limping from the force of her kick." Yugi cringed as he remembered how worried he was at her actions at the time.
Jaden whistled at the last part. " Now that's a girlfriend you don't want to get mad. Is she always like that?" Yugi shook his head. " No, she's really kind and sweet once you get to know her. She's just very cautious because she's a Tombkeeper, who are taught very strictly to keep their secrets at a young age, so they have a hard burden on their shoulders. Once you gain her trust, she's as sweet as a kitten. I know from experience because I was able to earn her trust fast since we both liked each other, but we were too shy to tell the other until during the Duelist Kingdom tournament."
They nodded and explained why they were here. We agreed to help and I asked Yugi to step back, making Yusei and Jaden confused. I gave Yugi a devious smirk which he rolled his eyes in response, knowing what I was about to do. He knows that I have a habit of pulling pranks and various stunts for my own amusement and that they were just my new victims to my stunts, and he knows that I'm about to mess with them big-time. I jumped off the railing and heard the shocked cries from Yusei and Jaden, until I heard Yugi's amused voice, knowing that he's getting a kick at this latest stunt. " Relax, she'll be fine. She's just messing with you. She pulls stunts like this all the time, just watch and you'll see what I mean."
I smiled at that and immediately got down to business. I took out Draco's card and held it up to the air above me to call him out. " Draco, it's time for your assistance!" My birthmark glowed for a brief moment before a golden light appeared in front of me as Draco the Red-Eyes Black Dragon. He let me grab one of his horns to get on before he spoke through our mental connection, clearly amused at my actions.
" I believe you called Lady Sapphira. What services do you require of me? Besides messing with the two timetravler's up there with Lord Yugi, of course. I can sense that they're speaking the truth, so you don't have to worry about them. You're just like Mistress Zahara when she was alive. Being cautious of new people in order to ensure her husband's safety." I nodded with a small smile as he flew me back up to the rooftop and landed softly so that he wouldn't cause a big commotion.
Yugi got on behind me with an amused grin. I smiled at Yusei and Jaden's bewildered expressions. " Well, are you getting on or what?! We don't have all day and Draco can't stay up here forever! Especially, if we want to change the future." They quickly got on after that and Draco silently took us down.
Once we landed and got off, Draco disappeared. Then we put our plan into action. Jaden scared everyone off and then the masked man showed up and introduced himself as Paradox, which fitted him well with what he was doing. He told us that he came from a ruined future that he believed was caused by the creation of Duel Monsters. So we prepared to duel in order to save our worlds.
I turned to Yugi. " You ready Yugi?" He nodded before he spoke. " Ready when you are, Phira!" Then Yugi switched with Yami and we said the same thing. " Paradox, there's only one thing we have to say to you! It's time to duel!" Then I twirled before I activated my duel disk and put my deck inside its placeholder so that the duel could begin.
Paradox started by activating Malefic World and special summoned Malefic Cyber End Dragon before ending his turn. Yusei starts off by activating reincarnation of hope and the summoning Junk Synchron to bring back Sonic Chick and Quillbolt Hedgehog from the graveyard to Synchro summon Junk Gardna. Yami found the concept very interesting, and so did I for that matter. Paradox did manage to take some life points before Jaden went and pretty soon it was Yami's turn.
Yami activated Reincarnation of Hope's effect to add Dark Magician to his hand and used Ancient Rules to summon him. Then he activated Bond Between Teacher and Student to summon Dark Magician Girl to the field. Then he activated Magic Gate of Miracles to get back Yusei's Stardust Dragon and then he activated Dark Magic Twin Burst and destroyed Paradox's monster.
Then it came to my turn. " I'll start off by activating my spell card Ancient Rules! So just like Yugi, I can summon a level 5 or higher monster to the field directly from my hand!" I could feel my birthmark stirring up, causing everyone except Yugi to look at me strangely. I took Draco's card from my hand and held it above my head before I decided to use the chant that Draco had told me and Yugi that he used to be called forth in the old days by Zahara.
" From the Shadows of Love! The one who protects thy friends! With the power of thy heart! Appear before me as I call thy name, Red-Eyes Black Dragon!" My eyes and birthmark glowed golden for a brief moment as I placed Draco's card on the duel disk as he appeared from the hologram. He appeared looking furious at Paradox and move his head back with a ferocious roar. Paradox looked shocked before he spoke.
" What was with that chant just now! And why did your eyes and tattoo glowed just now!" I scoffed at his remarks before I answered. " That is a birthmark, not a tattoo! It was a gift from Draco to be able to summon him in the real world without restrictions since he chose me as his vessel after waiting for me for 5000 years after the death of his previous master and my past life! Queen Zahara of Ancient Egypt, better known as the Wife of the Nameless Pharaoh!" Everyone except Yugi and Draco were shocked. Draco decided to give them the answered to their silent question, shocking Yusei of the fact that Draco could speak so easily out loud and not in people's heads.
" Lady Sapphira speaks the truth. She is indeed the reincarnation of my last master, Mistress Zahara. She was my best friend as well as her guardian before she died. She asked me to protect her reincarnation as her final wish before she died and I plan to honor that wish until the end of time! You have justification behind your actions, but destroying the lives of millions won't solve anything Paradox! " I held up a hand to calm Draco before I stepped up to beside Draco to speak.
" Calm yourself Draco! He's not worth your ultimate wrath. We have a job to do and I plan to help you to the best of my abilities. After all, just like Zahara you're also one of the best friends that I could ask for." I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before I opened them and glared at him with hate and anger clearly shown in my eyes.
" No one hurts those close to me and gets away with it! You killed Solomon Muto, the grandfather of my boyfriend and someone who I look up to like a Grandfather as well! That's reason enough to stop you! No one hurts those close to my heart and gets away with it! It's time for you to pay!" After a while, the duel ended with us as the victor. I sighed in relief as it was finally over. Then I turned to Yusei and Jaden before I spoke with gentleness clearly heard in my voice.
" Can you guys wait on the rooftop until the tournament is over? I want to talk to you guys before you guys leave to go back to your respective timelines. I assume you probably have some questions and I would be more than willing to answer them to the best of my abilities." After that I walked away slightly to wait for Yugi to follow as he explained what I just said to the confused duo at my words with a gentle smile.
" Sapphira is asking if you want to talk to her before you guys leave to go back to your times once the tournament is over. It means that she trusts you enough to tell you what she has told me. She rarely tells anyone without good reason, which means that you've gained her trust. Usually it takes her at least a couple of days, so it's a rare feat to gain her trust this fast like I did just by looking her in the eye the day we met." I immediately blushed at that which caused Zahara to chuckle within the Millennium Pendant and Yugi to laugh at my expression. They nodded and went up to the roof as we went to compete in the tournament.
Yugi and I both beat all the duelist and ended up in the finals together. We smiled as the announcer started the duel. " Now for our final match which I'm sure everyone is looking forward to! Yugi Muto, the King of Games and Sapphira Takaru, the Egyptian National Champion! Let the best duelist win!" We both smiled as we drew our hands and started to duel. " It's time to duel!"
In the end, it was Yugi who won the tournament. He had asked Yami to duel this one on his own because he was dueling Sapphira. After understanding his reason, Yami had agreed and let him stay in control. Pegasus came up to both of us with a smile on his face holding the microphone. " Now, we are happy for the win, but I believe that there was something both Sapphira and Yugi wanted to share with the whole world, right?" Yugi nodded shyly as Pegasus gave him the microphone and turned to face the crowd with me holding onto his arm as he took a deep breath before he began to speak.
" I know that some people may have already suspected this, but Sapphira and I decided that now was the right time to let the world know. Sapphira and I have been together since the Duelist Kingdom tournament, but we didn't feel ready to let the world know until now. So I'm happy to finally make our relationship official." Everyone cheered at the announcement as Pegasus took back the microphone with a smile on his fair at our announcement and congratulated us on our relationship. After that we left to go to the rooftops to talk to Yusei and Jaden before they left to go back to their separate times.
Yusei was the first to speak. " So what was that golden light about on your arm and eyes during the duel?" I gave him a smile and took out Draco's card. Draco, I'm going to summon you out to the real world to show Yusei what he saw, ok? I felt Draco give his consent before I spoke to Yusei. " This is the same thing that I did when I jumped off the roof earlier. I just did it the fast way instead of just using the chant that he used to be called forth by his previous master like I did during the duel. You might to step back a little to give me some space."
They nodded before I took a deep breath before I called Draco out from his card. " Draco, it's time for your assistance!" My birthmark glowed golden as well as my eyes for a brief moment as a golden light appeared in front of me to reveal Draco. He landed softly on the roof before he spoke in his usual polite tone. " I believe you called Lady Sapphira, even if it was just for a demonstration I'm still glad to be able to talk to you, Lord Yugi, Mistress Zahara and the Pharaoh." At their confused looks, Yugi and I looked at each other and nodded before we explained.
" You see, we both are in possession of a Millennium Item that contains the spirit of Zahara herself and the Nameless Pharaoh. Though, it seems to me Yusei that you know someone else by the name Zahara, am I right?" Yusei nodded before he explained. " Yeah. It was a young woman about a year older than me named Zahara, who looks just like you but she had black on her middle bangs and had bright green eyes instead of blue like yours. She has a twin brother and one younger brother and sister." He chuckled at something before he explained the reason for his chuckling.
" She can be pretty extreme when someone she cares about gets hurt. I remember the time that she tied her twin brother to the bed when he kept moving around too much after he broke his arm from fighting someone who was trying to kidnap his sister, who always seems to attract some sort of trouble." I sighed at that last part before I spoke up. " That reminds me too much of myself. I have the tendency to attract trouble wherever I go, no matter how much I try to avoid it." Yugi interrupted me with a dry look.
" You mean like the time that you apparently punch a gang leader in the face when you were with Mokuba back in Egypt?" I huffed at that comment. " That guy was touching my boobs. Besides, he was asking for it with all his sweet talking and calling me 'babe' and 'sweetheart.' I can't stand people flirting with me." Yusei and Jaden laughed at that before he looked curiously at a spot next to me and Yugi. We turned to see Yami and Zahara out with amused expressions before they noticed that Yusei and Jaden were looking at them. Zahara turned to me before she spoke, shocking Yusei and Jaden.
" Sapphira, you can tell them about us if you want. We don't really mind because we know that we can trust them." I sighed at her words. " You so owe me for this later Zahara. Just remember that." Zahara was smiling at that and was grinning at my words as I turned to explain them to Yusei and Jaden.
" As we said before, our millennium Items contain the spirit of Zahara and the Nameless Pharaoh." I gestured to Yami when I said Nameless Pharaoh. " We don't know his name at the moment, so he asked us to just call him Yami or Pharaoh until we do. I'm actually a Tombkeeper for his tomb in particular back in Egypt, but I'm not one of the main ones. My cousins Ishizu, Marik and Odion Ishtar are in charge of the tomb. I just help them out when they need it." They smiled at that, but frowned at the name Ishtar like it was familiar to them, but I just shrugged it off.
Yusei smiled at us as we said our goodbyes. Of course, I had to put my two cents in as well. " I know that we will see each other again. Like Yugi said our bond will be able to stand the test of time. So we look forward to the day we meet again. Because when we do, it will be a day to remember."
Yugi and I smiled as we watched the sunset on the rooftop as they left as Yugi held me close to his chest with Draco, Yami and Zahara out in spirit form watching as well. Yami was the first one to speak. " Do you think that we'll see them again?" Yugi and I smiled at them before I answered. " I'm sure that we will Yami. Goodbyes are never forever, so I know that we will met again one day. Whether it means that we die or that years past before we meet, I'm sure that we'll see them again. And I look forward to when that day comes."
Yugi looked at me with a gentle smile. " Do you think we should go find Grandpa? He's probably worried about us." I nodded with a gentle smile at his words. " Yeah. We don't want to worry him too much. Let's go." Yugi nodded as Zahara, Yami and Draco disappeared from sight. Then we took off to find Grandpa with a smile on our faces. I meant every word I said to Yusei and Jaden. I know that someday we'll meet again. And when we do, it will be a day that will be forever remembered in our hearts.
