A/N-I know that we all just got finished celebrating Kerry's birthday. Well in honor of my birthday which is today I give my readers a gift. I hope that you enjoy each of these updates. Sorry if I missed anything. Last but not least remember these characters belong to Kerry.
The couple arrived in Boston. There was a car there waiting to take then to the mansion that they rented. When the pulled up the door opened, and their kids came running out to them with the dog.
They had missed the kids as much as they missed them. Fitz picked up Bri who was planting kisses all over his face.
Sheldon had hugged his parents, and ran out to play with Pransome, and Sam had greeted her parents. When she reminded Bri they were headed to the pool to swim she was done with her parents.
They walked in to find their parents in the kitchen talking. They greeted the kids when they walked in.
Maya pulled back, "This is a wonderful rental home guys. Are we staying in homes the entire summer?"
Olivia nodded, "Yeah for the most part. We get recognized a lot, and some people can't understand we want to spend time with our family. So being in a home cuts that out."
They agreed.
They had rented a six bedroom/four bath mansion. Olivia selected the mansion because it was a unique modern European home. The pool, outdoor space, and the swing set sold them on the home.
That night they cooked dinner together as a family. They enjoyed dinner while catching up with each other before they watched a movie to end the night.
The only reason that Sheldon picked the location was because he wanted to see a game in Fenway Park.
One food that the entire family loved was lobsters. Fitz & Olivia didn't want to force their children to attend elite functions, but like their moms they wanted them prepared. Sheldon was about to turn eight so they wanted to begin to teach him the basics. Bri simply loved food. What they ate she was now of age to want it.
Fitz arranged for them to be taken out on a private cruise harbor tour. During the tour the family hauled in lobster traps with the fisherman. At the end of the tour they were allowed to keep all legal lobsters.
Sheldon was so happy and proud of himself. Fitz picked him up, "Good job buddy. You listened and now we have plenty for dinner tonight."
Sheldon thanked his dad. He went over to Olivia, "Mom, did you hear what dad said?"
"Yes, it seems like I lost my little boy. He is becoming a young man?"
He looked at her. His facial expressions serious. "Will you still love me mommy?"
"I will to the moon and back. You need to grow up so you can help daddy take care of us girls, and when mommy has another baby you'll have to be the big boy since Sam is at school. Daddy told me you could handle the job."
Sheldon was excited. Everyone watched the exchange. They no longer took moments for granted. Life had shown them it can change in an instance.
They had worked up an appetite so they headed over to another boat for lunch where they enjoyed a garden salad, glazed chicken, and pastry cups.
It was a great beginning to their vacation. Over the next couple of days, they enjoyed the waterfront, went to the John F. Kennedy library, Boston Tea Party ships, and enjoyed different restaurants before going to see a game at Fenway Park their final day.
They would be bypassing New York, but would be back in three weeks for a big celebration. Olivia had planned that part of the trip before she was kidnapped, and her mom's made sure to confirm all the arrangements.
Everyone wanted some beach fun so they were headed to two beaches back to back before heading back to New York. Both places none of them had the pleasure of visiting.
Their first stop was Virginia Beach, Virginia. The family arrived at their beach rental. The ocean property was to die for, and everyone loved the home.
Fitz selected the home for a couple of reasons. There was a built-in hot tub to enjoy with his wife, an outdoor built in BBQ area that the family could enjoy, and an in-ground pool. There was a poolside kiddie pool for Bri that he looked forward to spending time in with her. She was growing fast, and he hoped that his wife got pregnant before the end of the year. He yearned to extend their family as much as his wife.
No one wanted to do anything big. Everyone was a little tired from the drive so they cooked out on the grill and relaxed.
Later on that night Fitz found Olivia on the deck looking out at the ocean. She looked stunning in a Marjolaine lace silk chemise. The coral looked perfect against her skin, and the black lace.
Fitz walked out and sat beside her. She stood up and climbed in his lap. He just held her. He could tell that she was in her head. She was trying to process something, and he would know when the time was right. What she needed was him there holding her, reminding her that she is okay, and that he was right there with her and that he was not going anywhere.
After some time, she said, "When I was married to Jake he would always ask me what it was that you had that he didn't. For the longest time I didn't answer him, because I didn't want him to try to be you. I didn't want him to try and live up to you, because I knew that he would never compare. There was nothing that he could do to fix it. Even if he had stopped beating me, cleaned himself up, and tried to be a decent man I would never want him. One night after a brutal beating because I fought back he screamed the question again, and I finally answered."
She was shaking a little. He pulled his arms closer around her.
"Livvie, please don't feel like you owe me any type of explanation."
"I know baby, but I want to tell you. I don't want to hide that part of my life. I fought and won. If Sam or Bri or even Kimmie needs me I want to be there. I want them to be able to talk to me. Before I can do that I need to talk to you. I want you to know."
"Whatever you need. What was the answer?"
She turned and looked at her husband, "Everything…"
Fitz was confused.
She said, "I told him that you were everything. There was not one part of my life that I could not imagine you a part of. That I could see every part of my life with you. That you completed me, and made me whole. Even if we never got together I knew you were my other half."
Tears were falling down both of their faces at her confession.
He looked at her, "When I attempted suicide it was because I felt the same way, and I knew that he knew it. He was that piece in the middle of a puzzle you can't figure out. For years I wanted to hear your voice. I wanted you, and when you called me that night I was in shock."
"I was determined to hear your voice. If I was going to die I was going to hear your voice one more time. I was going to die in peace."
"I was so scared trying to get to you, and I knew it was a race against time. I had never prayed so hard in my life. Even if we weren't going to be together I just wanted you to live."
"When I saw you I thought I was dead. I thought you were an angel. It was some time before I realized you were real."
"I knew it was real in one sense, but in another I thought I was going to wake up and it was going to be a horrible nightmare. I was almost scared to hand you over to the doctor. I thought if I did that is when I was going to wake up."
"It was all real, and I know that you don't feel like it is necessary but to me it is."
"Livvie…."
"Please…."
"Okay!"
"I was a coward. I knew when you told me how you felt. That has led to years of heartbreak for the both of us. For that I am sorry. My decisions put our family is a precarious situation, and while we both know it was for the best had I not been a coward we wouldn't be here. We would have been married, and all of our children would have been biologically ours. While I never would trade Sam and Sheldon for anything in the world they would have been ours. They would not have suffered the way they did. Never again will I choose anyone over our family. I will work, but I will give harder. Life is short, and I don't want to have any more regrets."
Fitz moved her hair behind her ear. When he kissed her she felt like the most important person in the world, and she knew that to him other than their children she was. When he finally pulled back he whispered in her ear, "I accept your apology, and we both made mistakes. However, at the end of the day we are better people. If we hadn't made the mistakes we did Sam & Sheldon could be dead. Sam at the hands of her dad, and Sheldon lost in the system. It was a hell of a lot of pain, but the pleasure I have right now I can't describe. At some point during this trip God is going to bless us with another child, and we are going to enjoy every moment. You are going to make your foundation bigger and better. We are going to live."
Olivia smiled, "Can we live now?"
"How?"
"Can you make love to me with the ocean as our back drop?"
"You don't even have to ask."
Olivia didn't give her husband a chance to take control. She pulled his cock out of his boxers, and slid down on it before he had a chance to catch up.
It was the beginning of a magical evening.
The next day they were relaxed, and ready to enjoy the day with their family.
They found that Bri really loved dolphins. When she saw them on television she would get excited. Fitz had bought her books about dolphins, and she got so animated. So they were excited to talk her on the dolphin watch cruise.
She was so animated. She was walking with Fitz, "See dolphins' daddy?"
"Yes sweetie we are getting on the boat to see dolphins…"
"Yea!"
Olivia and their parents laughed at her daughter's excitement. Truth was they were all excited. Being up close with the mammal felt like something out of a movie, and they couldn't wait.
The experience was beyond anything they could ever explain. They spent two hours on the Chesapeake Bay. The trip started on the narrows before merging into the Broad Bay and Linkhorn Bay. They got to see wild life on the sand dunes, and took lots of pictures. Next they headed past the Lessner Bridge where they saw more wildlife.
Bri was so entranced. She wasn't saying a word to anyone. She was into the scenery. Fitz had purchased her a little camera, because she was always taking pictures on their phones.
Olivia sat back and watched him helping her take pictures with her dad's help. He was a patient man, and an even more patient dad. He loved teaching them new things, and was patient as they learned. She could see how excited Bri was when she did as her dad told her. His praise meant everything. It meant everything to all three of the kids.
They finally made it into South Thimble Island to Cape Henry where they saw most of the dolphins. When Bri got to touch the nose of one of the dolphins her world was complete.
Olivia recorded the moment. When she was kidnapped this is what she thought about when she got tired, scared, and lonely. She knew that she had a family to come back to. She had memories that she wanted to create, and when she questioned her decision she remembered that the temporary pain they all went through was to have the days they are having now and in the future.
After a wonderful family day, the next day was just the two of them. Sam was hanging out at the house with the kids. In addition to the pool they had a game room and theater room so they had a day planned with no adults.
The couple noticed how close the kids had become. Sam loved her brother and sister with everything in her. Sheldon loved being a big brother, and Bri loved that she was doted on by Sam and Sheldon.
The couple were enjoying their day, and they were now at the Cape Henry Lighthouse before they headed to dinner.
The couple was at the top of the Lighthouse looking out.
Olivia leaned back into her husband's arms, "With you I feel like I can conquer the world."
"I feel the same way Livvie."
"I have never been happier than I am at this moment. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you Fitz. I love you."
"I love you more baby, and we have a lot of years left in us. It is time we enjoy them."
"Agreed."
The couple made it back to their rental house, and they spent the evening making love. Each thrust throughout the night allowed them to let go and move on.
The next day the family headed to Myrtle Beach for a couple of days. This part of the trip was more of a filler. They had told the kids that their mom and grandmothers wanted to spend some quality time together; so this leg of the trip it was just the kids, Fitz, and their grandfathers in one house. The ladies were in another house.
The truth was they were preparing for Sam's 21st birthday. They planned on surprising her and Kimmie with a party they would never forget. Vanessa was also helping them. They turned 21 a week apart, and fortunately Kimmie was first. With everything that happened Sam asked Kimmie for a ran check on the big celebration so she could spend the summer with the family.
Olivia thought it was noble of the girls, but they had worked their butts off in school, volunteered, and were good young ladies.
They were sparing no expense on the celebrating.
The night before they were headed to New York Fitz & Sam enjoying a stroll on the beach. Sam & Bri were hanging out with their granddads.
"Why were you so quick to give up celebrating your 21st birthday?"
"I am going to celebrate with my family."
"You know what I mean."
"Dad, until you guys came into my life I didn't celebrate. There was nothing to celebrate. I was just existing. Now I don't want for a thing including and especially love. So I can do it up with friends anytime, but family well I cherish it a little more."
"We are so blessed to have you as our daughter."
"Not as blessed as I am. For the longest time I thought all men held their daughters in low regard. You saved me in ways I can never repay."
"Ditto."
"Dad, you were fine before Sheldon & I came into your life."
"Maybe, but sometimes we don't realize we need things until they are there. I was scared to take you guys in, but I realized I needed to be more open. Take more chances in life. When everything happened with Liv I closed myself off. I thought I opened myself up, but I realized I hadn't. Having three kids at once taught me a lot. What you two had been through taught us so much. Having the two of you in addition to Bri healed us, and made us stronger. We needed you, and we wanted you."
"I love you dad!"
"Love you more honey!"
Olivia was in their house on FaceTime with Vanessa making sure everything was set for their arrival. It was the third time they were going over everything. Her mom's had left her to get dinner.
Vanessa looked at Olivia, "It will be perfect. She is going to love everything that you have done. I need you to relax."
"You are right. I just want this night to be perfect for them. Both of them have worked so hard, and sacrificed so much."
"They have especially Sam, and she appreciates the sacrifices that you made to bring her in. You could have just taken Sheldon."
"I never even considered it."
"And she knows that Liv. I have always had a good relationship with her, and she tells me all the time how happy she is. How she wants to make sure that she doesn't let you guys down. She has a dad who loves her, respects her, and cherishes her. She has a strong, independent, and loving mom who supports her dreams. She tries not to dream big, but what 21-year-old doesn't want a grand celebration. A celebration period, and she is getting that."
"You are right. I apologize for driving you crazy."
"You are not driving me crazy. Besides you are footing the bill, and including my daughter."
"It is my pleasure."
Although everyone was allowed to pick the places they wanted to go they were all enjoying every leg of the trip. New York was going to be a fun trip for them all.
Kimmie & Vanessa had also just arrived. Kim turned 21 the night before.
They decided they would stay at The Marmara Park Avenue during their stay. It was considered a very hip hotel. Something they knew the girls would love.
The bellhop took them to the penthouse.
Olivia nodded towards one of the bellhops.
"Miss. Sam, this way."
Sam was confused.
Olivia smiled, "You are turning 21 in a couple of days. We wanted you to have your own space. We are on the other end."
Sam hugged her parents. She was taken to her penthouse. Her first surprise was when she opened up her door her best friend was on the other side.
After their reunion Sam asked, "What are you doing here?"
"Your mom called us. She knew we wanted to celebrate our 21st birthday together. She appreciated what you were willing to give up, but she wanted us to celebrate together."
"My mom is the best."
"With killer taste. This penthouse is everything."
Kimmie was right. The penthouse was spectacular. It was over 1100 square feet. The Empire State Building was the backdrop. It covered two floors. The penthouse was two bedrooms, two and a half bath. They had a fully equipped kitchen, an outdoor terrace, and a gym.
Down the hall Fitz & Olivia were getting settled in their penthouse which was three bedrooms. The entire space provided panoramic views. Their penthouse was 1800 square feet, and it was also on two levels. Like their daughter each bedroom had an ensuite bathroom. They also had an outdoor terrace, and gym.
The couple was in their room putting their things away.
Fitz went over and wrapped his arms around his wife's waist, "Relax baby you have it all under control."
"Actually I am relaxed. Happy we have space just us and the kids. I love our parents, but I miss it just being us. I know the kids miss it."
"I know what you mean."
The next couple of days they had a blast. They toured Ground Zero, the Empire State Building, and Central Park.
Kimmie & Sam went shopping. When Sam turned 21 in two days they were going to have a special dinner together is the story they were told.
The morning of her birthdaySam woke up to Kimmie bringing her breakfast in bed courtesy of her parents. They made the girls their favorite, and the kids helped deliver the meals. They also delivered gifts for the girls.
After the girls enjoyed breakfast they sat out on the terrace and opened their gifts.
Kimmie went first. She opened the card. It read:
You are a part of our family. You are our goddaughter, and we love you to the moon and back. You are officially legal. A full grown adult. There will be plenty of times you have to make grown up decisions. Tonight you only need to worry about "Turning It Up!" Love Mama and Daddy Fitz.
Inside of the bag was a Trinity De Cartier ring. The ring was three bands consisting of white, pink, and yellow gold. They were entwined together with diamonds around it. They had also gotten her a Tank Anglaise watch. The frame was medium size, it was 18 carat pink gold and steel. Instead of numbers there were diamonds.
Sam looked at the gifts her parents gave to her best friend. The watch was similar to one that Kimmie wanted. It was better, and the ring fit her.
Sam opened her card, "To our oldest child. You make us proud every single day. The sacrifices you have made in life awe us, and you have been making adult decisions for a long time. Today the world just expects you to make more of them. We know you don't need us like most kids need their parents still, but know that we are here for you. Love you to the moon and back Mom and Dad."
Inside the case was a set that Sam loved. It was a Saphirs Legers De Cartier necklace, bracelet, and earrings. The set was 18 carat pink gold, and was coupled with pink sapphires.
Sam was in awe of the set in person, and how much her mom loved her. They were doing some online window shopping she thought when she showed her mom the jewelry.
Kimmie smiled, "Your parents are amazing, and I am not saying that because they can afford to buy us lavish gifts. Unlike some rich people they don't use gifts as a substitute for their love. I am glad that you now have parents who love and respect you."
"Me too Kim. Me too."
They had a fun-filled day. Later on that evening they found out they weren't going to dinner first, but they were at a bar where they enjoyed cocktail hour. They were told they needed to go upstairs to change they could head to a trendier spot for dinner.
The two made it back to their penthouse where they found matching gowns that were in different colors.
The gown was a lace patchwork gown with a beading slash neck. Sam's gown was in black, and Kimmie's was in blue.
When they made it back downstairs they were surprised to find their parents, grandparents, and siblings gone.
The bartender informed the ladies that there was a limo waiting outside for them. They made it out front, and sure enough there was a driver out there with a sign that had their name on it.
They made their way into an empty limo. The bar was filled, and the driver told them to enjoy whatever they wanted.
Kimmie asked Sam, "Do you know what is going on?"
"No. Us doing a spa day felt normal even with hair and makeup. We knew we were going to have dinner. Today felt normal. Great but normal."
"Ditto. Maybe the restaurant is more high scale hence the gowns."
The ladies were into their conversation that they lost track of where they were being taken. New York was busy, and it was a city that never slept so it was nothing to see the sidewalks filled with people.
The limo stopped. The driver came around to let them out, and they were shocked to be standing in front of The 40/40 Club.
When they stepped out they realized that many of the people on the sidewalk they were friends with. They yelled surprise.
They were in shock. Their families had planned a surprise party for them in New York at one of the trendiest clubs in the world. Of course they would never forget being in JayZ's club.
They made it to the red carpet where their parents had hired a group of photographers to snap shots like they would for celebrities.
The girls were over the moon. They were taking pictures together, separate, and with friends. It couldn't get much better they thought.
They were wrong.
They were half way down the red carpet when some cars pull up. Four big bodyguards stepped out and cleared the area. Sam and Kimmie were moving out the way as well, but they were told to stay.
Once the area was secured a guard went to open the door, and everyone gasped including Fitz, Olivia, and Vanessa who were in the corner watching the girls.
Why, well because the power couple themselves stepped out the car. It was Jay Z and Beyoncé in the flesh.
Fitz, Olivia, and Vanessa went over to greet the couple.
Jay Z hugged Olivia, "I told my staff to take care of your daughters. They will get nothing but the best tonight. Premium food, alcohol, and service. We promise to make sure she never forgets this night."
Olivia got emotional, "Thank you. I appreciate you stopping by."
Beyoncé smiled, "It was the least we could do. Your work is important. I am a big fan of Kerry Washington. She always speaks highly of you, and the work you are doing is huge. More importantly she talks about what an awesome mom you are. We both have one child, and trying to juggle a career. You have three. The sacrifice you made can never be measured. I just had to meet you, and your daughter. Her story touched us."
Olivia nodded, "Again thank you. she is a very special young woman. If anyone deserves to be celebrated it is her, and her best friend was ride or die. She stuck by her, and gave her reasons to keep pushing. She has worked hard herself to not be a statistic so she equally deserves to be celebrated."
Jay Z nodded, "Well celebrate we will. Do you mind if we hang around? Hit the red carpet for a bit, and the stage later on."
Fitz smiled, "Of course. What do we owe you?"
"Nothing. Just keep doing what you are doing."
The couple smiled and nodded.
Introductions were made. The party was intimate. They had 75 guests not including Sam, Kimmie, and the parents so it was easy to manage the group.
The power couple mainly took pictures with the guests of honor and their parents, but made time to take group pictures with the other guests before heading inside.
After the guest took pictures on the red carpet they were let into the club to mingle while everyone else took pictures. In the invitation they were told they would be sent a link to view they could select any ten shots to be sent to them at no cost. They could order more, but would be responsible for the cost.
You could see the couple had spared no expense on any part of this party especially the food and drinks.
Right now waiters were walking around with southern fried catfish, 40/40 fries, southern fried shrimp, and different flavor wings.
The girls made their way into the club. Their parents hugged them. They noticed they had their coats. They expected Vanessa to leave, because she told them she had to get back for business. She had flown out to have dinner with them, but they were unsure why Fitz & Olivia were leaving.
Sam looked at them, "Why are you leaving?"
"Because this is your party honey. You are 21. You don't need us here. Besides Nick is here."
Nick was a guy she had recently started dating. They had started off as friends, but decided they wanted more. Nick had even come to Fitz asking his permission to date Sam, and that meant a lot to Fitz. They both liked Nick.
"I don't want you to leave, and you know that Nick loves you guys especially dad."
Nick's dad had died of cancer while he was in high school, and Fitz had been there for him when he needed a man's opinion.
"Please stay."
Kimmie nodded, "Please. I know my mom has to leave, but it won't be the same without you here.
After a quick call to their moms they agreed to stay.
The club décor was so sleek that they decided to keep the decorations simple. They had decided to use gold and white as the colors. There were balloons throughout the club.
The lounge area had white lounge chairs, and gold decorative pillows.
All of the tables had a lavish gold fretwork metal candle centerpiece. When they dimmed the lights the centerpieces provided the perfect glow.
The tables had silk gold and white tablecloths. They had selected the finest china for the meals to be served on, and eaten with.
Each guest was given a monogrammed gift bag that was full of keepsakes to remember the night. The reason they were given to them as soon as they got in the club is because it included a disposable camera. It was an instant hit, and the picture taking began during cocktail hour.
Cocktail hour was under way. The girls ran in the same circles so a portion of the group knew each other. However, the girls were in college with different majors so they each had friends the other didn't. Cocktail hour was giving them an opportunity to meet each other. After cocktails were done and they got to mingle they were escorted to their table for dinner. Vanessa & Olivia made sure to pair the girl's friends with friends who knew each other so they could enjoy dinner. They could meet people when they mingled, drank, and danced. They had rented the club out to four in the morning.
They had reserved a car service to take the kids back to their hotel rooms which they paid for. They specified that the car service was only allowed to take them back to their room. Olivia didn't want them drunk on the streets of New York. Although they were adults she was a parent. She would hope another parent would care that way about hers. They specified in the contract that if any driver broke this rule then the car service would be held liable.
For dinner they started out with a selection of appetizer. Quesadillas, chicken empanadas, classic beef sliders, and king crab sliders.
Next they enjoyed a garden salad with lemon & herb vinaigrette.
For their entrée they had three choices. They could go with the Flamed Grilled Tequila chicken breast with hot corn, salsa, black beans and rice, grill marinated beef tenderloins in a port wine sauce served with portabella mushrooms, mashed potatoes and grilled onions, or Colossal Shrimp in white wine sauce garnished with arugula and truffle oil served over angel hair pasta.
Also during dinner, the guest had a choice of wine. They could order Chateau Ste Michelle Riesling, Pink Moscato, Hess Cabernet Sauvignon, or Wild Horse Pinot Noir.
For dessert they could either have a slice of red velvet cake which was Sam's favorite dessert, or they strawberry shortcake with white chocolate biscuits which was Kimmie's favorite dessert.
Since the guests walked in the club there was several different bars for them to choose from. They had a martini bar. The Up All Night martini was the feature drink.
There was another bar that was for cocktails. Late Night, Brooklyn Night, New York Slammer, Bold 'N Stormy, and Painful Pleasure were the feature drinks.
Sam & Kimmie could not stop laughing when they saw the featured drinks. The head bartender said their parents picked the drinks. They had picked everything by hand. Once the planner helped them secure the club they worked closely with the club for the most part. Jay Z had told them that whatever them wanted they would make sure the girls had.
What the parents didn't know was that the owner himself & his wife would crash the party. Although no one looked at it that way.
They had hired the 40/40 DJs for the party, but the couple was going to hit the stage later on that night.
After dinner they opened another bar. That bar made frozen cocktails. The featured drink at that bar was the Baseline.
Sam & Kimmie had ordered two of the featured drinks, and were waiting for their order.
Kimmie looked at Sam, "I talked to my mom. Before she was kidnapped she told her that if she made it out alive she was going to throw us a party we would never forget. She hadn't selected a location, but a lot of other things she had decided on. She told my mom that Huck snuck her a radio to keep her sane. A radio station played a couple of their songs, and it came to her she wanted it to be here if she made it out."
"I don't know what to say."
"Me either. My mom said she didn't let her pay for much. At first she thought it was because she wanted to say she threw the party together, but quickly realized it was something she wanted to do for us. She told my mom we were a team. It would be what you wanted. Also my mom said that whenever they sat down to meet with potential vendors she would say they were throwing a party for us. This party was a huge act of love."
"I know that Kim. You know I do."
"Sam, you know I know that. Tonight I want you to let your hair down. Enjoy your parents being here, your friends, your boyfriend, and one of the biggest power couples in the world. Then I want you before this summer is over talk to your mom. She is not leaving you, and while I know you are not upset with her about the kidnapping you are frightened she might leave you. You finally have a mom that is invested in you, and you are afraid she might leave. She is not. Talk to her. She is not like your biological mother. She will drop everything for you if you ask."
Sam sighed. Kimmie was right.
"I promise I'll talk to her. Let's party."
The girls got their drinks and hit the dance floor. The DJ had the club rocking. Everyone was having a blast.
After a while the girl's cakes were brought out. They decided to get them each a cake. The leftovers would be taken home.
They had a three tier cake. The bottom layer was white with gold glitter. The top two layers were gold with gold glitters. It was topped with a '21' topper.
They had several of the professional photographers inside of the club capturing the night for the girls to look back on.
They posed for several pictures.
After the girls blew out the candles on the cakes the champagne came out. The guest had a choice of Moet & Chandon Imperial, Moet & Chandon Nectar Imperial, Moet & Chandon Rose, or Moet & Chandon Nectar Rose.
It was time to party some more. Some headed back onto the dance floor while others made it to the lounge.
Fitz & Olivia made it up to one of the VIP areas. There was another one for the girls, and anyone they invited into their area. Shortly after they got comfortable they were surprised to see Jay Z & Beyoncé.
They insisted the couple sit down.
Beyoncé looked at Olivia, "I hope that my daughter is half the young woman that Sam is, and I know that you adopted her but her life could be so different right now. She is smart, happy, generous, and open. She didn't get that from her biological parents."
Olivia smiled, "Thank you, but I can't take the credit. She is independent and refuses to give up."
"I don't think you understand that your story has resonated with a lot of young women. Sam being one of them. I think when she saw you on television she decided not to give up. She wanted more even if her biological mother didn't. I believe God destined for the two of you to meet. You are a wonderful woman Olivia, and an even better mom. The love you put into this party I have no words. I do. You remind me of my mom. She sacrificed everything for us, and I know that you sacrificed a lot to come back to your family."
"Thank you! It means a lot coming from you."
"Well what you probably understand all too well is that at home I am mommy. She doesn't look at me as Beyoncé. Right before you were kidnapped her private school was collecting items to donate to your foundation. So for weeks all she talked about was Olivia Pope.
Jay Z laughed, "She came home and asked B if she would buy her a dress like Mrs. Grant. B asked her if she liked her dresses. She said they were okay, but Mrs. Grant's dresses were classy."
Olivia & Fitz laughed. He was happy that they shared this story with his wife. He wanted her to know that she was a survivor, and her choosing Jake didn't make her weak. It made her human.
The couples talked for a few more minutes before they left to get ready for the mini-concert they were about to give.
Sam made her way over to her parents. She thanked them profusely for the party. They were glad to see her happy, and that was thanks enough.
Fitz knew they needed a mother-daughter moment so he excused himself to get a drink and find Nick.
As soon as he left Olivia grabbed her daughter's hand, "Not tonight but when you are ready I am here."
Her biological mother never knew when something was bothering her. She was too busy trying to stay out of her dad's way. She wasn't mad at her. Well she was to an extent, but she understood now. She didn't when she was growing up.
Sam looked at her mom, "Do you think that we can carve out a couple of days just the two of us? To talk and spend quality one on one time.
"Absolutely, I will always be there for you. I know the kidnapping has made you question things, but I want to fix it."
Sam didn't know how she knew. All that mattered was she did, and that alone brought her comfort.
They shared a long embrace before heading down to watch Jay Z & Beyoncé perform. It was an epic evening that they would remember for a long time.
After performing they said their good-byes, and the DJ picked up where they left off. The club was jumping.
After a while the DJ slowed it down a bit when he put on The Best Day by Taylor Swift.
Fitz asked Olivia to dance with her and she readily agreed.
I'm five years old
It's getting cold
I've got my big coat on
I hear your laugh
And look up smiling at you
I run and run
Past the pumpkin patch
And the tractor rides
Look now, the sky is gold
I hug your legs
And fall asleep on the way home
Olivia laid her head on her husband shoulders, "Everything okay Livvie."
"Yeah, just a little frustrated. Even from the grave it feels like Jake is winning."
"No Livvie he is not. Him winning would you be still stuck in the past. It would be you giving up on life. It would be you not having the ability to love and be loved. Does this have anything to do with Sam?"
She didn't say anything which confirmed his suspicion.
"Does she know you know about the nightmares?"
Olivia shook her head no.
I don't know why all the trees change in the fall
But I know you're not scared of anything at all
Don't know if Snow White's house is near or far away
But I know I had the best day with you today
I'm thirteen now
And don't know how
My friends could be so mean
I come home crying
And you hold me tight
And grab the keys
Olivia looked up at her husband, "She needs me. I need to be there for her, and I need to show her that I am not going anywhere. I need to show her that when she comes to me, and says that she needs me I am there for her. No questions asked."
"Then be there for her. We still have a little over a week in New York. Plan something for the two of you. I think I am capable of handling our other two."
"Stop it babe you know I know that."
"I know I just needed to make you smile again. Tonight has been perfect. I don't want you to see this as a problem, because it isn't. Besides you spend quality time with Bri and Sheldon all the time. With work and school, it is a little harder with Sam. Talk because you both need it, but relax and have fun, because you need that more."
"I can never thank God enough for brining you back to me. For allowing you to find me worthy after everything that happened."
"I feel the same way sweet baby!"
And we drive and drive
Until we found a town far enough away
And we talk and window shop
'Till I forgotten all their names
I don't know who I'm gonna talk to now at school
But I know I'm laughing
On the car ride home with you
Don't know how long it's gonna take to feel okay
But I know I had the best day with you today
"You are a wonderful mother Livvie. This party was planned with love, and you can feel it. I can tell how happy Sam really is tonight. Part of me is sad, because I know what is coming up next, but the other part of me is ecstatic to see what a productive adult she is. Before I know it I will be giving her away. Hopefully we will add to the family soon so we don't have to worry about an empty nest anytime soon."
Olivia was grinning.
"What is it Livvie?"
"We are pregnant Fitz"
Fitz stopped and looked at his wife, "Don't play with me Livvie."
"I'm not. When we were in Myrtle Beach I was complaining about everything tasting sour, bad, or undercooked so they made me take a test. I called Dr. Miles, and by luck she has a friend who had a practice there. She agreed to confirm the pregnancy, see how far along I am which is seven weeks. She also gave me prenatal vitamins. The baby & I are good, and it is safe for me to continue to travel.
I have an excellent father
His strength is making me stronger
God smiles on my little brother
Inside and out he's better than I am
I grew up in a pretty house
And I had space to run and I
had the best days with you
There is a video I found
From back when I was three
You set up a paint set in the kitchen
And you're talking to me
It's the age of princesses and pirate ships
And the seven dwarfs
And Daddy's smart
And you're the prettiest lady in the whole wide world
Tears were running down Fitz's face which made her cry. They wanted this so bad, and God had blessed them.
He was about to say something when it dawned on him.
"Not drinking any wine. It is a Shirley Temple. Also I called ahead to get my dish cooked without alcohol."
"Livvie, I am just so happy. "
"Me too baby. I don't want to keep it from the rest of the family. Only our mom's know right now."
His hands were now resting on her stomach
"When we meet back up in Rome."
"We can do that.
And now I know why the all the trees change in the fall
I know you were on my side
Even when I was wrong
And I love you for giving me your eyes
Staying back and watching me shine and
I didn't know if you knew
So I'm taking this chance to say
That I had the best day with you today.
Olivia looked her husband in the eyes, "I won't make the mistakes I made in the past. I am going to enjoy every moment of this pregnancy. I can't get time back."
"We won't make that mistake. Right here right now we pledge to do better after our vacation is over. We won't take life for granted. We will live, love, do, and give back."
Olivia kissed her husband and he felt all of the love she had radiating all over her body.
She finally pulled back, "I promise."
A/N-So I am stopping there. They are expecting again. The fluff will continue on next chapter, but I like to keep it real. So next update will be fluff, but emotional moments as Olivia and Sam go away.
