So, due to the events re-written in A Clarification, Ulrich no longer had the EMP gun to shoot William with, so let's just say...um...Ulrich managed to get the knife out of William's hands and into his own and sort of thrashed about in self defense and slit William's throat. There we go, that works.

Ulrich's POV

"So, you guilty?" The officer driving asked.

"What sort of question is that?" I asked back, looking down at the floor.

"Just trying to kill some time, kid. Juvie's still about an hour out."

I sighed and looked out the window. There were still police around because of the Sissi thing, and they caught me with a knife in my hand with blood on it. Don't know why I didn't think to drop the thing...wipe my fingerprints...that sort of thing. Well, even then there were probably security cameras at the pool. I woulda been caught sooner or later. But if I'd at least done that I might have had time to go into hiding.

"...Self defense." I muttered.

"Self defense, huh?" The officer chuckled. "You know how many times I've heard that one?"

"I dunno. A lot?"

"Yeah." He paused for a long moment. "Well...we'll see how it holds up in court."

I didn't have time for this! I didn't want this! Wasn't self defense a legitimate excuse? I guess they had to prove it was self defense. All they had to do was play back the tapes. William attacked me! And...I had no idea why. He said he remembered...remembered what, exactly? What did William remember that made him suddenly go nuts? His time under Xana's control or something?

We drove for a very long time in silence.

Yumi was dead. And William too. And it was his fault. And it would have either been him...or me.

But now I was here alone, and Yumi was gone.

I thought we had forever...there was more I wanted to say. More I wanted to do. Man, did I feel like an idiot. Why did I wait so long!? Why was I such a...a coward?

That's what it was...cowardice. What was I afraid of? Disappointing her. I disappointed everyone I met on Earth. Lyoko was just about the only place I was good at what I did. A dud in school...had to drop out of athletics because of Xana. Training was something I did solo. But when I was fighting monsters...saving the world...but now the Supercomputer was broken.

I wouldn't have been a good boyfriend anyways.

Not that it mattered anymore.

Morgan was gone now, and so was Yumi and William. But at least Morgan was gone. She couldn't cause any more mayhem. She couldn't kill anything else. The world could get back to trying to fix its own problems instead of trying to grapple with her's. And I was going away. How would my parents react. My dad would probably...

No, no, that was a bad thing to think about. I needed to be strong. Couldn't be weak in front of this officer. Needed to be strong for the friends I had left. She wanted me to take care of them...She needed me to-

"Well, we're here." The officer said. He opened the door and then walked around leisurely to my door and slammed it open. "Get out."

I got out, a grimace on my face. My hands were locked in handcuffs behind my back. The officer took hold of the chain between the handcuffs. It pulled my arms backwards. It...wasn't comfortable. But it was jail, it wasn't supposed to be comfortable.

The building was plain and sturdy and harsh. He took me into the room. They took my picture, they took my thumbprints, they took my possessions and clothes, and gave me the orange prison clothes. And threw me in a cell with some guy sitting on the top bunk. The officer slammed the door and walked right out, leaving the two of us alone. It woke him up right away, I guess he was sleeping before that. There wasn't exactly much else to do here...

I was cautious. I knew how dangerous I was...but I didn't know how dangerous he was. But he didn't know how dangerous I was, either. I could use that.

"Hey, I'm John." He smiled at me. Uh, well, I guessed he wasn't dangerous. He seemed friendly enough? He had sort of brown orange hair and a longer face, and he was taller than me, it looked like. Something about him looked...familiar...

"Ulrich." I replied. "You look sorta familiar." John chuckled.

"Yeah, you probably saw me on the news. I was the guy who stole that really expensive laptop and then passed out in the park and they didn't find any drugs or anything in my system? They're still trying to put evidence together for that."

"Oh. Yeah, I saw that. I thought you were innocent." I said. I knew he was innocent. It was Morgan's fault he was here. He had been possessed and framed so that Morgan didn't have to get her hands dirty. Poor guy...I had no idea how things would turn out for him, but I doubted he would ever get the truth.

"I hope so. I still don't remember a thing." He knocked on his head. I nodded an lay down on the bottom bunk. It was really awkward. This guy...John, maybe he would be a better roommate than Odd. Nah, nah. That was impossible. Odd was just the best roommate, with the dog fur all over my things and the loud alternative music. I guess I was sarcastic when I was trying to keep it together.

"So...you took the top bunk?" I asked.

"I like it up here." John responded. I heard a tapping. I looked up and saw John tapping on the ceiling, tapping out a beat.

"That's pretty nice." I said. I really didn't want silence right now, so I had to keep up the conversation somehow.

"Thanks. I was in a band in school." John said.

There was another long silence. I could hear my heart beating. I could hear the two of us breathing. There was no ticking clock, though.

"So...do I get my one call?" I asked.

"Uh, yeah. Should be happening soon. Who you gonna call?" he asked.

"Dunno." Who could I call? My parents? Would they even bail me out? Jeremie and the others? Could they even bail me out? Could I even be bailed out? I wasn't really all that well versed in the way this whole thing worked...

"You should probably figure that out." John said.

"Yeah...where are the guards, anyways?" I asked. John jumped down from the bed and frowned.

"They're usually around...Wait, do you hear that?"

"Hear what?" I asked.

"That...there's a...it's coming from here." John pressed his ear up against the back concrete wall. I raised an eyebrow and put my ear to the wall as well. I heard a sound...very faint, like...

"Oh no..." I recognized that sound anywhere. "HIT THE WALL!" I yelled and pushed John onto the bed. Less than a second later a circular sheet of pure energy cut through the concrete wall like it was nothing. Then a giant metal ball crashed through the wall and the bars and the rest of the building, it just kept going.

"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!" John screamed.

"A Megatank. RUN!" I pulled him off the bed and pushed him out the gaping hole in the wall. I got outside and saw monsters...a lot of them, a swarm of Kankrelats, a Krabbe, and two other Megatanks. There were some cops outside, trying to fight these things, but they weren't doing very well. One cop ran to his car, but a Krabbe shot him right in the head, and he fell, dead, keys in his hands. I went to him and took his keys.

"You drive?" I asked.

"Uh...yeah." John said, panicked. I tossed him the keys. We got into the car and drove off. The Megatank didn't chase us. Maybe it wasn't...specifically after me?

We drove off and...it was a nightmare. There were Lyoko monsters everywhere. Lyoko. Monsters. What the hell?! We got rid of Xana. We got rid of Morgan. We got rid of Lyoko. How...why were these monsters here?! Who was controlling them?! Was Morgan still alive? Buildings were destroyed, cars were scattered on the side of the road like bowling pins. There was dust and debris. It looked like...the apocalypse...

Soon we got out of the city, on the highway. It grew quieter. There were explosions in the distance. John turned to me, eyes wide.

"You know something." He said. I nodded. "Explain it to me." I took a deep breath, trying to process everything.

"It's...kind of a long story."

"We have plenty of time." John said. The open road stretched out before us.
