Chapter 36 Hunted!

The kids and Kaya where running from Jango but they seemed to have given him the slip. They discussed of how they can't be catched while in this particular forest.

They were suprised as suddenly a row of trees in front of them was cut down by two circle blades.

~With Jango~

Jango was annoyed. He cut the trees but they were not there! In his annoyance he begun to shout at the kids and demand where they are. They won't be able to get away from him.

"If that's the case, I'll just have to... clear the whole damn forest!" Jango commented to himself.

~At the northern slope~

"What was that noise...?!" Usopp asked.

"Well, that's probably just Jango losing his temper. You can see for yourself, but you will probably be too late. Even the two of you who got away..." Kuro explained.

"You call that scary or something? Believe me you never managed to see BOTH Shiro and Roger in a temper tantrum together." Luffy commented with a shiver.

"I'm still worried. We'd better hurry." Zoro said. Luffy only nodded.

*I really don't want to be this Jango guy right now.* He thought secretly.

"You two have stayed together for three years! DON'T YOU HAVE ANY FEELINGS FOR HER?!" Usopp shouted at Kuro.

"No. As I've said before, Kaya is just a pawn in my plan and if she dies, I might actually thank her..." Kuro said calmly as if talking about the weather, pissing Zoro and Luffy off. "This guy's beyond saving!" Zoro commented.

"I never thought of saving him!" Luffy commented.

"I can't let you do whatever you want!" Usopp yelled. *Must go and save them! otherwise, they'll all be killed! There's not a second to lose...!* Usopp thought as he tried to move past Kuro and Buchi.

"Oh, you can still move. Impressive. Buchi!" Kuro said. Buchi was about to attack Usopp when he was stopped by Zoro. "Don't get in the way... we're in a hurry! You've messed around enough...! I won't kill you if you just lie down quietly!" Zoro commented having Buchi in a choke hold with his two swords. Usopp fell down. His body simply couldn't take any more strain.

"Hah hah hah hah hah... You're a joke! It's probably safer for you to lie down here, anyway... even if you can catch up with Jango, you're still no match for him!" Kuro mocked.

"Even if I'm no match for him.. I'll still protect them...! I will protect them!" Usopp stated through his clenched teeth.

It served to distract everyone and Buchi managed to loosen Zoro's hold on him and attack. Zoro was thrown against a wall.

"I'm the captain of Usopp Pirate Group...! I'm a BRAVE WARRIOR OF THE SEA! I won't let you hurt the villagers!" Usopp shouted.

The Neko Pirates mocked him for his words only to get a big rock thrown at them.

"If You Dare Laugh At Usopp Again, I Will... Kill You All!" Luffy promised looking at them.

Meanwhile the fight between Buchi and Zoro continued.

"Hey! Buchi Neko, you moron! I thought I already warned you... don't get in the way!" Zoro warned one last time but Buchi didn't seem to follow that warning.

"OUTTA THE WAY!" Zoro shouted, as he cut Buchi up. Kuro was suprised.

"Luffy, I'm gonna take Usopp and go after that bastard hypnotist and the other two! Do you have any problem with that?" Zoro asked as he put Usopp over his shoulder.

"Nope! Go quickly!" Luffy gave permission.

"S..Sorry!" Usopp said.

"It would actually be faster if I go alone but we're going into the woods... and if you don't guide me, I won't be able to find them." Zoro explained.

"Hey, You! Who said yu could get through me?" Kuro asked as they were passing him.

"I did!" Luffy grinned as he got ready to throw a good punch. "Go, Zoro! Go, Usopp! Another punch!" Luffy said as the first one missed it's mark (Kuro's face), the second Kuro dodged too. Only for Kuro to appear behind Luffy and try to slice him into pieces. Luffy, who trained with Shiro in sword fight managed to dodge by letting himself fall to the ground and while maintaining his balance he clapped his sandaled feet together. "Magi Magi...Beheading!" Luffy's feet let out a purple wave that formed into a blade but Kuro managed to dodge that too.

"Damn... disappeared again. Nevermind they already got up the slope...!" Luffy commented.

"Th...That kid. he actually dares to challenge Captain Kuro...! Is he some kind of demon, what was that purple blade?" The Neko crew commented.

"Before we fight, I want to ask you one question... you're a stranger here, why are you getting so involved with this village?!" Kuro asked.

"I have a friend in this village... that I don't wanna see dead!" Luffy commented.

"What a simple reason... are you really okay with it? After all, it'll be your reason for dying..." Kuro laughed.

"That's okay! I'm not gonna die anyway!" Luffy replied grinning.

Both of them got ready to fight.

~Jango~

Jango tried to hear the sounds made by the people he was chasing.

Kaya collapsed, her weak body finally catching up with her. She tried to send the boys onwards but they refused. Kaya looked feverish and the boys decided that they have to fight for their lives but just as they drew that conclusion Jango found them.
