Hey, guys, Antagonist here.
So, so very sorry for taking so long. Long story short, I got grounded. It doesn't happen very often, but I screwed up big time. I admit it, it was my fault completely and I paid the price for my poor decisions.
But, I'm back, now, and since it's summer vacation, updates will come at a regular pace (I'm thinking a chapter or more a day) until the end of August. So, that's 27 chapters at least for this month.
DISCLAIMER: Touhou Project belongs to Team Shanghai Alice, and StarCraft belongs to Blizzard Entertainment.
…
"Ah-hah!" Egon Stetmann cheered. "The geysers work!"
Before Stetmann, a perfectly functional Vespene Geyser stood, releasing the aforementioned green gas.
"Quick, we need a Refinery on that geyser as soon as possible!" he ordered. "There's a finite amount of gas coming to this particular one!"
"Well, mister Stetmann," Nitori Kawashiro spoke up. "Per our agreement, I will soon be getting a shipment of this Vespene, right?"
"That you will!" Stetmann grinned.
"Then I'll take my leave," Nitori nodded. "Be sure not to stay up too late!"
"I won't!" Stetmann promised. "Now, uh, what should I do with the Vespene first?..."
"I would build some sort of transportation, sir," a nearby Marine, Private Mark Jones, answered.
"Good idea!" Stetmann agreed. "Once we have enough gas, I want an SCV building a factory, then build a Starport, and I want that factory building, uh, Diamondbacks, and I want the Starport building Medivacs! That sounds good, right?"
"It sounds decent, sir," Jones nodded.
"Then, uh, I'll be in my lab," Stetmann decided. "I am seriously not used to this whole commander thing…"
…
Within the base was a Bunker converted into a small science lab for Egon's use. Egon actually lived in the Command Center, but the bunker was where he spent most of his time.
Egon prepared to brainstorm on his next project when a hole in time and space tore open right next to him.
"Aaaiieeek!" he fell out of his chair.
"Egon Stetmann," growled the blonde woman who leaned out of the, for lack of a better term, gap. "Do you have any idea what you've done?"
"Uh, no?" he asked. "I don't have any idea who you are, either…"
"Yukari Yakumo," she greeted hastily. "And I am not pleased with your actions."
"Why?" he asked.
"Why?!" she yelled. "You've upset the ecological balance of Gensokyo by adding two resources that weren't there before!"
"I have not," he defended. "Minerals and Vespene Gas are non-invasive elements. Their presence does not affect anything else around it. They've been called miracle resources in the Koprulu Sector because of it."
"Even if you didn't," Yukari grumbled. "You obviously don't understand how Gensokyo operates, so I'm telling you now: don't build your war machines. You won't need them. Here in Gensokyo, we use the spellcard rules."
"Spellcard rules?" asked Stetmann.
"Yes, spellcard rules!" confirmed Yukari. "Everybody uses cards that have non-lethal magic spells on them, and everyone creates their own! This is how conflicts are resolved in Gensokyo!"
"None of us have magic," Egon pointed out.
"It's not that hard to get around here," Yukari explained. "Go out and find something."
After pondering for a moment, Egon spoke up.
"Could I outfit the war machines with these spellcards?"
Yukari was taken aback.
"Er," she mumbled. "I suppose if you could make it work, there would be no problem…"
"Then, I'll do just that," Egon decided. "Because there aren't many other ways to get spellcards working for all of my men and women. Although, I'll need samples…"
"If you want spellcards, you need magic," Yukari explained. "There are Vampires and Magicians living in the Scarlet Devil Mansion, if you really need that much help."
Egon chuckled.
"Then, I'll just have to go there!"
"Well, as long as you understand the non-lethality of fights here, I suppose it's okay," Yukari decided. "So long."
Before Stetmann could return the farewell, Yukari disappeared back into her gap, the tear closing behind her.
"Sir?" asked Jones, opening the door. "We heard you screaming. Is something wrong?"
"N-no!" Stetmann denied. "In fact, I'm better than ever! Are any of those Diamondbacks or Medivacs ready yet?"
"We've got a few Diamondbacks and a medivac, yeah," Jones confirmed.
"Then you, me, and Private Sherman are taking three Diamondbacks while Lieutenant Spiel pilots the Medivac," Stetmann grinned. "And we're going to go find the Scarlet Devil Mansion."
…
I'll just admit it right here, since it's not much of a spoiler: Egon's totally gonna succeed here. He'll get Terran units with spellcards. He, Jones, and Sherman (full name Haley Sherman) will also get Spellcards of their own. We'll meet Sherman in the next chapter.
Also, yes, Mark Jones is the same Marine Abathur talked to at the beginning of the last arc. Why? I decided that I liked him.
Wow, short chapter. Only 845 words, including the author's notes. The rest of the ones for this month won't be so short.
This is Antagonist, signing off. Remember to review.
