Chapter XXXVI – End Me
"Mr. Armando, what are you…?" Mia was just about to walk back into the room when she spotted Diego turning along the corridor and coming towards this direction.
There was something… off about him.
"Hey, kitten." He managed stiffly, clearly hiding something behind his back as he pushed past her to go into the hospital ward.
"What are you…?"
And she fell over in shock when his back was finally turned to her and she saw what it was that he was holding.
"Armando?" Xekuto looked up from his covers as he saw him come in.
He neared him very quickly.
"Is something wr-…"
He was cut off when something metallic and sharp pushed him down on the chest with force and into the bed.
"STOP, STOP IT!" Mia ran in, her heart in her mouth and feeling like she would throw up. "DIEGO, HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND?! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
"I'm ending this madness." He replied in an extremely calm tone and removed the safety hatch of the gun. "I'm taking back my peace."
Xekuto stared at him, feeling the end of it digging into his skin and circling the area where his heart was.
And then his mind suddenly clicked.
And to everyone's utter shock, he laughed softly.
"I see. So the Diego Armando of this world gives in to Shinume's temptation?" He looked up at the senior attorney, his eyes a bright jade. "Never knew you were so weak."
"…!" Diego's blank face suddenly turned ferocious and his finger locked onto the trigger. "I'm going to end you, why are you suddenly so confident?! I'm here to…!"
"WELL, THEN DO IT!" Xekuto suddenly yelled very loudly, startling everyone.
Mia gave out a strangled croak as she saw him pull the gun upwards and right into the centre of his forehead. He felt Diego's arm shiver all over.
Unknown to most of them, Shinume had floated to a stop at the end of the hallway and was watching this scene happily.
"If you really are the Diego Armando that I've had to deal with in all countless words, the same man who always had the strength and heart to protect those he loved to the bitter end, THEN SHOW ME YOU HAVE THE GUTS AND SHOOT!"
"XEKUTO!"
Diego flinched, a bead of light coming back into his pupil…
