Chapter 36: Truths Come Out

Andromeda's POV

The weekend came and went and soon it was Monday. Monday was Potions practical and written and then it was, for me, Divination practical and written. I headed down to the dungeons for my Potions O.W.L. The practical was very easy, as I had paid attention during the four years that I had been in Salem. Then we had to brew a potion. I found that some of them were staring at it as though it was some foreign object. When the examiner called time we all gathered up our things, gave a sample, and then left.

After lunch we went to do our Divination, which turned out to really funny. Weasley said that he saw a man with a really bad wart. It turned out to be the examiners face. I don't think that he was too impressed. I told him what I saw and then we were let go.

"What do you have tomorrow?" Ginny asked me.

"Transfiguration and Defense Against the Dark Arts," I answered.

"I have a feeling that you're going to wow them," Ginny told me.

"Oh I know that I will."

The next day's exams were excellent. I flew by my Transfiguration exam by adding turning all the writing desks into ravens. The old woman clapped as I changed them back. I had a feeling that I had been given a good enough grade. And then I blew her away again when I did my Defense practice perfectly. On Wednesday was Charms and Herbology, which was nothing. Of course I could tell that Weasley and the others were having problems.

Sometimes having a better education was just better.

On Saturday I was busy resting from my O.W.L tests when Ginny introduced me to Neville's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Longbottom were very nice and they thanked me for giving Bellatrix her just deserts.

"No problem," I said. "Just because I'm her daughter doesn't mean that I have to condone what she did."

"Neville seem to still have a problem with you."

"I'll be gone at the end of term," I told her. "He won't have to worry about me anymore."

They nodded and then were gone.

The next morning news came out that Fudge had been sent to Azkaban along with students that had tried to kidnap me. Bones was made Minster of Magic until the elections, which I had a good feeling that the new Minister would be different. Everyone at the Gryffindor table, along with the staff, seems to be happy that Fudge was gone. On another note the truth finally came out about Voldemort. He had come back and Harry was forcing the students that had doubted him to eat crow.

I would say that it was a very nice ending to the whole term.

Harry's POV

"Where are we going, Sirius?" I asked my godfather when the exams were over and all the things had been said and done.

"We need the Dursley's to sign off on you," he told me. "I don't know why you want to go to that place but I won't prevent it."

"Thanks," I said, glad that he was seeing sense.

When we arrived at the Dursley house Petunia answered the door. She glared at us and then asked, "What do you want?"

"We would like for you to sign him over to me," Sirius told her. "He won't be coming back to your place anymore."

"Good," she said, "Let me get a pen and then you can take him away. Don't you ever bring him back here again."

"Don't worry, I won't be back," I said to her.

She came back with a pen and signed her name. Once that was done she slammed the door in our faces. Suddenly we heard a scream and Sirius burst the door open. A blacken shell remained of Petunia Dursley. What the hell happened? A shadow vanished and I wondered who it had been.

"Let's get out of here before something else happens," Sirius said, though I would never forget what had happened to her.

When I got back I told Ron and Hermione what had happened. Hermione was shocked that Petunia had died that way. Ron wanted to know who had done it.

"I don't know," I said. "But I've got a bad feeling that I'm going to find out."

"In the states," Ron said.

"Yeah," I said, nodding.

"But why go to the States?" Hermione asked.

"Because that's where I want to go," I said. "Look, just support me."

"'But you will be back for your sixth year, won't you?" Hermione asked me and I knew that she was worried about me.

"Of course I will," I told her.

"Good, because we'll come looking for you," Ron vowed.

Remembering what happened during the summer before my second year, I had no doubt that's what was going to happen.

Snape's POV

"Does the Ministry know what happened?" I asked Dumbledore.

"No, I don't think that they do," he said. "I don't understand how anyone could kill someone while the wards were still active. Whoever did it was very powerful."

"Do you think that Potter will be safe in the States?" I asked him.

He nodded, saying, "Yes, I do. Miss Lestrange will be there and so will her guardian. I'm going to write a letter, telling him what happened to Petunia. Maybe he can find out on that end. Are you planning on going there?"

"I don't know," I said. "I would like to get away and Chicago is having a Potions Convention. There should be some promising minds there."

Dumbledore grinned and said, "Trust you to find a silver lining."

"I take pride in that, Headmaster," I said.

"Albus, the name is Albus," he said. "Sometimes I wonder if you think that you're still in school."

I rolled my eyes and said, "I will still think of you as my Headmaster."

"Why, thank you," Dumbledore said and I wondered if his twinkling was going to get even worse.

Snape mentally groaned.

The rest of the term came to a close with the End of the Year feast. Snape sat down at his place at the staff table and looked over at the Gryffindor table. Even though things had been really crazy he was glad that the year was over and Tom was gone. Of course he had a funny feeling that it was going to take time for people to get use to a normal year. He hoped that he could, at least, enjoy a quiet summer. No odd things, no dangerous Death Eaters, and no worrying about Potter.

Wishes were nice!
