They had just left Wester Drumlins and Braxiatel landed the TARDIS in Cardiff in front of the Roald Dahl plass, the very same place with the incident with Margaret the Slitheen. He landed the TARDIS here for he noticed the TARDIS needed to refuel.
"Cardiff again? Really?" Romana sighed, leaning against the railing. She was growing tired of being on Earth this long. She couldn't understand why it was the Doctor's favourite planet or why the TARDIS kept taking them there all the time but Romana had a feeling it was because the TARDIS wanted to take them to Earth in the Doctor's memory. She would love to go somewhere that wasn't Earth just for a little while.
"The TARDIS does need refuelling." Braxiatel pointed out as he fiddled with some of the controls.
Martha frowned. "I thought this ship was alive."
"It is but like every ship Martha, the TARDIS needs fuel." Romana explained. "Cardiff is built on a rift in time and space and every once in a while we need to open up the TARDIS engines just to soak in all this energy in time and space and use it as fuel. Back on Gallifrey, we would normally refuel TARDIS differently but this is the only way now."
Martha nodded in understanding. "So it's a pit stop."
Braxiatel fiddled with the controls, staying in front of the screen. "Yes." He commented and he frowned at the screen, seeing a pair of familiar feet running towards the TARDIS. He knew those feet from somewhere and that coat...that coat was strangely familiar. But it couldn't be him, could it?
Martha's eyes widened and she looked at Romana. "Wait a minute. They had an earthquake in Cardiff a couple years ago." She put her hands on her hips. She had heard all about that strange earthquake. Everyone had been talking about it non-stop after it happened and she narrowed her eyes slightly at Romana. "Was that you?"
Romana grimaced, remembering the incident and how Rose was there. "Unfortunately so. None of it would have happened if the Slitheen wasn't trying to blow up the world for profit. We were completely different people back then were we Brax?"
Braxiatel merely stared at the screen, recognizing Captain Jack Harkness shouting their names as he ran as fast as he could towards the TARDIS. He barely nodded. He knew Jack was immortal now and he didn't like that. No human was ever supposed to be immortal and yet, here he was. "We were." He checked the screen again. "All powered up now." He quickly put the TARDIS back into flight. Neither Time-Lord's liked being around a human immortal. It unsettled them to be around him and the TARDIS began to go back into flight just when the console sparked violently at them and they were all knocked to the floor. But Braxiatel knew what the course of it was. He gritted his teeth. Damn it, Jack just had to show off didn't he?
"Blimey!" Martha shouted, clinging tightly to the consoles as she looked over at Braxiatel. "The TARDIS must certainly hate you today!"
Romana rushed over to Braxiatel, staring at the screen with horror. "What on Gallifrey!" She cried, really hoping that what she was seeing was false. But she knew it wasn't, the TARDIS never lied to her. "We're going to the year 100 trillion! We cannot go that far! We have to change course! We have to change course right now!" Romana cried in panic and she tried to change coordinates but it was no use, the TARDIS was already heading towards the year 100 trillion as though it was set on going there.
"Why? Why are you so afraid of going to the year 100 trillion?" Martha wondered.
Braxiatel looked over to her. "It's the end of the universe and no Time-Lord in history has ever been there before. Not even my dear brother." Martha's eyes widened, now understanding why the Time-Lord's were so afraid.
Romana and Braxiatel quickly worked around the TARDIS, trying to land her safely. They managed to land the TARDIS with a gentle thud and the Romana and Braxiatel looked at each other questioningly. "We can't go out." Romana began in an almost whisper. "We can't! It's against the laws of time to come here!"
"But we've landed. There is no turning back now." Braxiatel pointed out. He didn't like it anymore than she did. Not even himself dared to venture this far out for his Braxiatel Collection.
"So, what's out there?" Martha asked, glancing at the door nervously.
"Nobody knows. The end of all things is what they always used to say back on Gallifrey," Romana commented. "No Time-Lord or Time-Lady has ever dared to venture here. We simply do not know what's out there. Anything could be out there."
"Say that again. That's rare when you don't know something." Martha grinned slightly. She loved it when Romana or Braxiatel didn't know something. It meant they could all learn something new at the same time.
"We can not interfere. Not this time at least." Romana turned to Braxiatel. "Your brother said something to me once a long time ago when I asked him about interfering. He said; always do what you're best at."
"Which is what?" Martha asked.
"Interfering." Romana commented before walking out of the door only to be greeted with a bleak looking landscape and Romana gazed around before seeing Jack on the ground and she rushed to him. "Jack?!" How did he get here? Was he the cause for sending them to this time and place? She sighed, knowing that he'll come to life any minute. Even just being near Jack made Romana feel slightly nauseous, but she pushed that feeling to the side. Jack was her friend. Immortal or not, he could be good when he chose to be.
"Oh my god, you know him?!" Martha cried but then she saw he wasn't waking up and she quickly went over to his side and rushed to check if he was okay, quickly checking his pulse. Her medical instincts kicking in. "Can't get a pulse. Hold on, you've got that medical kit thing-"
Braxiatel stopped Martha from entering the TARDIS. "No. Just watch." He told her, grabbing her by the shoulders and indicating towards him.
"Just watch?! He's hurt! He needs medical attention!" Martha protested, not understanding why he wouldn't let her help their friend.
Romana was still crouched by Jack, stroking his face. She'll be here to greet him back from death. "Braxiatel's right Martha. Our friend...let's just say he's a very special case."
Martha shook her head. "Special case? What is that supposed to mean?" She glanced at the man on the floor, noticing his strange outfit and she paused. "He's a bit odd though isn't he? Not very 100 trillion. That coat's more like World War 2."
"He came with us." Braxiatel replied, sauntering over to them. "He sent us to the year 100 trillion by clinging to the outside of the TARDIS all the way through the time vortex."
"No wonder why the TARDIS wasn't very happy with you." Romana commented. "Why didn't you let Jack in?! It would have saved us all the trouble."
Braxiatel merely scowled. Truth be told, he didn't want Jack in because he was afraid of what he was. He was afraid of what Jack could turn into. Rassilon was immortal. The only immortal Time-Lord and look where that got him. He ended up turning insane, turning against his own people and he was afraid that would happen to Jack.
"How do you know him?" Martha asked, looking down at Jack. The man seemed so peaceful.
"He was a friend of ours. He used to travel with us for a while before a terrible incident happened. Long time ago now." Romana replied.
Martha sighed. "I'm sorry, there's no heartbeat. There's nothing. He's dead."
Suddenly Jack gasp loudly as he came back to life, grabbing hold onto Romana's hand and Martha screamed, scrambling to her feet in panic. Romana smirked at Martha. "Remember when I said he had a special case? This is what I meant."
"Oh well, so much for me." Martha went back over to him, feeling slightly calmer. "It's all right. Just breathe deep."
Jack blinked, looking at her before grinning. "Captain Jack Harkness. And who are you?"
"Oh please. You've just died and you're already flirting?" Romana raised an eyebrow, helping Jack to his feet. She had to admit, it was nice seeing Jack again. She rather liked his company and his cheeky sense of humour.
"Martha. Martha Jones." Martha introduced herself.
"Nice to meet you, Martha Jones." Jack winked before looking at the Time-Lord's coldly. Both had changed their faces since he had last met them. He had heard rumours back in the 51st Century about Time-Lord's being able to regenerate and he knew that they both went through regeneration and he wondered what caused them both to regenerate. But nonetheless, he was glad he had manage to find them at last. It had took him many centuries to find them. "Romana. Braxiatel."
"Captain. It has been a long time." Romana smiled faintly. "How did you ever guess it was us since you've never seen us regenerate before?"
Jack nodded towards the TARDIS. "The police box kinda gives it away. I've been following you for a long time. You both abandoned me."
"I was dying Jack," Romana commented sternly, making him pause. "I was dying. If you had come near me all those years ago I would have been unable to regenerate simply for you being immortal." Martha's eyes widened with horror and she stared at Jack. "I'll explain it all properly another time."
"What about you?" Jack asked Braxiatel and taking in his new appearance. "What's your excuse?"
"I regenerated at the Battle of Canary Wharf. Dalek Sec tried to kill Lady Romana but I pushed her out of the way, causing Dalek Sec to exterminate me." Braxiatel replied. "You know very well I would do anything to protect my Lady Romana."
Jack nodded. "The Battle of Canary Wharf. I saw the list of the dead. It said Rose Tyler." After working at Torchwood Cardiff for many years, he saw the results of Battle of Canary Wharf. Somehow knowing that the Time-Lord's would be taking part in the battle and then he saw the list of the dead and his blood ran cold.
Romana seethed angrily. "Don't mention her."
Jack looked confused. "Why? What's happened?"
"Don't!" Romana seethed angrily, looking hurt. "Rose has betrayed our trust! She was my first companion and she has betrayed me!"
"How was I suppose to know that something happened between you three?" Jack protested, wondering what on earth Rose had done to make Romana so angry at the mere mention of her name. Whatever it was, it was seriously bad.
Braxiatel shook his head, walking over to Jack. "She was using us," He explained to Jack. He did deserve to know at least. "She only wanted to travel with us simply for the fact that she had a 'crush' on my past self. She broke several laws of time. She did not pay attention to us and she broke Romana's friendship." He lowered his eyes. "But she is alive. Mickey and Jackie Tyler as well but they are on a parallel world, far away from here."
Jack's eyes widened. He didn't realize Rose could have been that selfish. What could make Rose do such a thing? "I'm sorry."
"We're sorry too." Romana whispered and Jack eloped Romana and Braxiatel into a hug, both Time-Lord's feeling slightly relieved that he was slightly forgiving towards them. Romana and Braxiatel would both owe him a proper explanation later and Jack knew Romana always kept her word.
They broke apart from the hug, Romana walking away from the TARDIS as they began to explore a bit. Jack was walking alongside Martha, the Time-Lord's in front of them as Jack explained how the Time-Lord's abandoned him. "So there I was, stranded in the year 200,11, ankle-deep in Dalek dust and they go off without me. But, I had this." He showed Martha his vortex manipulator proudly. "I used to be a Time Agent. It's called a vortex manipulator. They," He looked over at the Time-Lord's. "Are not the only one who can time travel."
Both Time-Lord's sniggered. "Oh please!" Romana sniggered. Humans and their method of time-travel. It always made her laugh. "We Time-Lord's have the proper techniques to time travel. You basically bounced."
Jack scowled. "All right, so I bounced. I thought 21st Century would be the be place to find them except that I got it a little wrong. I arrived in 1869 and this thing burnt out so it was useless."
Braxiatel looked smugged. "We told you. Only we Time-Lord's have the ability to be able to Time-Travel correctly and safely."
"I had to live through the entire 20th century waiting for a version of a version of them that would coincide with me." Jack added before looking at Braxiatel. "I saw your brother once or twice though. Different regeneration each time. The Doctor he was called wasn't he? He used to work for UNIT. I didn't speak to him, merely observed him. He was an honourable man."
Braxiatel closed his eyes at the mention of his brother. He did miss him terribly. "Yes. My annoying little brother. He's dead now. Died a long time ago."
Martha glanced at Jack. "But hang on, doesn't this make you over a 100 years old?" How could he be over 100 years old and still look this good? Martha guessed it had something to do with his immortality.
Jack chuckled. "And looking good, doncha think? So I went to the time rift, based myself there thinking 'cause I knew one of you would come back to refuel at some point. Until I finally got a signal on this detecting you and here we are."
Martha looked at the Time-Lord's. "But thing is, how come you left him behind, Romana, Braxiatel?" She didn't want to be left behind. If she had to leave the Time-Lord's one day, she wanted it done by her choice.
"Because it hurts." Romana admitted sternly, turning round to face them. "We don't have a choice. You will not be the first and you certainly will not be the last. We Time-Lord's have extremely long life spans, but you don't. We both buried enough as it is. We do not want to bury anymore." She turned back around, grabbing Braxiatel's hand and Martha and Jack shared a look with each other, seeing Romana actually meaning what she said as they watched the Time-Lord's walk to the edge of a canyon that looked like it once held a city.
Martha gasped in awe at it. "Is that a city?" If it was a city, why was it so empty? Where were all the children, the chatter and the bustling of crowds?
"Once upon a time it would have been." Braxiatel replied. "All the mighty civilizations have turned to dust. The sky?" He pointed towards the sky, causing Martha and Jack to look up. "That is not just night sky. All those stars have burnt up and faded away into nothing more than a memory. This is why we Time-Lord's have never ventured this far into the future before because there is simply nothing left to see."
Jack frowned, looking at the empty sky. "It must have an atmospheric shell. We should be frozen to death."
"Us three will." Romana commented in agreement before frowning at Jack. "But I do not know about you Jack I'm afraid."
"What about the people? Does no one survive?" Martha asked sadly. In a way, this was very sad. She has seen many planets that were bursting with life but here she was, at the end of the universe where everything has turned to dust. There were no grass. No flowers. Not even the sound of birds in the sky.
Braxiatel sighed deeply, his moustache twitching slightly. "Everyone thinks about how life starts and how life ends. But life; life itself is full of many possibilities and wonders. Everybody forgets what muddling through in the middle."
Jack pointed across his shoulder, pointing down to one of the pathways where they saw a man running away from what appeared to be a pack of cannibals that were snarling angrily at him. "Well, he's not doin' too bad."
Romana gritted her teeth. "Oh the joy! Cannibals! Really?" She began to ran towards the man, the others staring at her. "Well come on! It's a hunt! Are you really going to stand there?!" She ran forwards down the roadway, the others following after her.
Jack came up behind them last, laughing. "Oh, I've missed this!" They managed to reach the man who was looking terrified as the cannibals began to catch up with them and Jack grabbed him. "I've got you!"
The man shook his head, looking frightened. "We've gotta run! They're coming! They're coming!"
Braxiatel and Jack quickly shared a look and they both quickly got out their weapons, Jack getting out his revolver whilst Braxiatel got out his laser, both pointing at the future kind. "Fire when I tell you too!" Braxiatel ordered, not afraid to use his laser on them.
"Brax!" Romana shouted urgently as the cannibals began to advance quickly on them.
"Now!" They both fired into the air, causing the cannibals to stop in alarm, not liking the loud noises.
"What the hell are they?!" Martha panted.
"Cannibals by the looks of it." Romana commented, observing them. "We need to run back to the TARDIS. I do not want to be on the menu today thank you very much." She began to turn back in the direction of the TARDIS only to see more cannibals coming down that way as well. "Or perhaps not..."
The man they had rescued look at them. "We're close to the Silo. If we get to the silo, then we're safe."
"Silo?" Braxiatel commented suggestively to his friends.
"Silo." They all agreed and the five of them quickly ran in the direction to the silo and Martha beamed at the sight of it as they arrived at the gate, watchers and guards on the other side.
"It's the Futurekind! Open the gate!" The man shouted at the guards as they arrived.
"So that's what they're called." Romana mused as they reached the gates. "Not cannibals but the Futurekind. What a peculiar name."
"Show me your teeth! Show me your teeth!" The guards ordered them.
The man they had rescued looked at them urgently. "Show them your teeth!" They all quickly showed them their teeth and the guards opened the gates, letting them in. "Close! Close!"
Just in time and Braxiatel turned around to see the futurekind outside the fence and he fired his laser at their feet, causing the futurekind to stop in their tracks, preventing them from going any further and he snarled at them.
One of the futurekinds stepped forward, presumingly the leader of the pack. "Humans. Humani. Make feast."
"We're not human." Braxiatel smirked before he showed them his laser, feeling confident with himself. "Would you like me to shoot you again mmm?" The futurekind backed away slowly, eyeing the gun. "I thought so." He turned on his heels but stopped as the leader of the futurekind spoke.
"Kind watch you." The leader hissed and Braxiatel turned his head slightly in the direction of his voice. "Kind hungry." The chieftan signalled the rest of his pack and they all backed away but they could still hear the growls and snaps of teeth coming from the pack.
The guards looked extremely grateful at Braxiatel. "Thank you for that."
"You're very welcome and thank you for letting us into your silo." Braxiatel commented, putting away his laser gun as the others came up to him.
"You still use that?" Jack asked, slightly impressed, pointing at his gun.
"Of course. This weapon has helped me survive through the Time War Jack. You'll be very surprised to what it can do." Braxiatel commented as the guards let them inside.
The man they had rescued turned to one of the guards. "My name is Padrafet Shafekane. Please tell me, can you take me to Utopia?" Romana and Braxiatel shared an anxious look at this, both knowing Utopia was nothing more than a fairytale.
The guard smiled in delight. "Oh yes, sir. Yes I can." The guard lead them into a large tunnel that was carved into a mountain and led them inside before he turned towards the others. "And who are you four?"
"My name is Lady Romanadvoratrelundar and this is Irving Braxiatel." Romana introduced herself and Braxiatel.
"Martha, Martha Jones." Martha nodded, wrapping her arms around herself to keep herself warm. It had grown colder now she was not running but Martha didn't realize how cold it actually was.
"Captain Jack Harkness. Nice to meet you." Jack smirked in a flirty manner at the guard and Braxiatel couldn't help but roll his eyes. He had forgotten how much Jack could flirt.
Romana turned to look at the guard. "Who is in charge of this place?"
"Nobody really is in charge here," The guard explained. "We all work together. Though, saying that now, Professor Yana is the genius behind all this."
"Professor Yana? Is it possible to have a word with him?" Romana enquired.
"I don't see why not. Are you a scientist of some sort?"
"More of a politician but I can be a scientist when I want to be." Romana commented. "Please send Professor Yana in our direction when you can. Also, one more favour." The guard raised an eyebrow. "Our transport is out there. It's a big blue box, one you cannot miss. We need it back. If necessary, I can go out with you to collect it."
"You almost got eaten by the Futurekind," The guard pointed out. "We're not letting you out again but we are driving out for a last water collection. I'll see what I can do. Definitely a big blue box?"
"Thank you." Braxiatel told him, relieved that he or Romana didn't have to go out there once more. "Yes. It says 'Police' on the top. You cannot miss it."
Padra came up to the guard desperately. "I'm sorry, but my family were heading for the silo. Did they get here? My mother is Kistane Shafekane. My brother is Beltone."
"The computers are down but you can check the paperwork. Creet!" The guard shouted and a young boy about 10 years old who looked slightly dirty stuck his head around the corner shyly. "Passenger needs help."
Creet got out the paper and walked over to Padra just as Martha looked at the boy. "Sorry, but how old are you?" Martha couldn't help but ask. Where were his parents? He looked so young to be working like this! It must be horrible to live here.
The boy merely smiled at her. "Old enough to work. What d'you need?" He asked Padra and they looked over the paperwork for a few seconds before Creet nodded and looked towards the others. "This way."
They followed Creet through the corridors that were lined up with people camping. "Kistane Shafekane. Kistane Shafekane. Kistane and Beltone Shafekane?" Creet kept shouting out but all the people shook their heads.
"It's like a refugee camp." Martha whispered.
"That's because it is." Romana replied. "End of the universe with no where to go."
"Stinking." Jack grimaced and Braxiatel nodded in agreement before they passed a rather large man who stared at Jack. "Ooh, sorry. No offence."
"You are missing the point though," Romana observed as they walked further down. "We are at the end of the universe and you know what? You humans are indomitable. Always indomitable!"
"Is there a Kistane Shafekane?" Creet shouted again urgently.
A woman not too far away stood up, looking towards the boy. "That's me." She gasped with delight as she saw Padra. She had been worried sick about her other son. Always getting into trouble he was.
"Mother?" Padra asked hopefully and he ran over to his mother, giving her a warm embrace.
"Oh my god." Kistane cried and Beltone, his brother joined in the hug, so happy to see Padra alive and well.
"It's not all bad news." Martha smiled as she watched the scene and Romana couldn't help agree before she and Braxiatel turned towards a door, Romana sonicing it.
Jack noticed a good-looking man passing by them and he stopped the man, giving his best smile. "Captain Jack Harkness." He shook the man's hand. "And who are you?"
"I've forgotten how much you can flirt," Braxiatel grunted as he helped Romana with the door, also getting his sonic pen out and he watched Romana type in some codes, overriding the deadlock. "Let's find out exactly where we are." The door quickly slid open and Braxiatel almost fell into the deep pit.
"Brax!" Romana cried but luckily Jack caught Braxiatel just in time.
"Gotcha!" Jack called, pulling him back in.
"Death by falling, that would have been an embarrassment." He muttered before looking at the rock in front of them. Romana and Martha coming in next to them to observe, Romana embracing Braxiatel. She was so afraid then.
"Now that is what I call a rocket." Martha commented in awe, looking very impressed at the very tall rocket.
"You're mistaken my Lady," Braxiatel commented, not letting go of Romana's embrace. "These people are not refugees. Merely passengers."
Martha frowned. "He said they were going to Utopia."
Romana scoffed. "Utopia is nothing more than a fairytale! It does not really exist Martha. That's just a cover up name to where they are really going." She looked over towards the men. "Do you recognize these engines?"
Jack shook his head. "Nope. Whatever it is, it's not rocket science. But it's hot, though." He said as he felt himself sweating slightly.
Braxiatel nodded in agreement. "No I do not, but Jack is right, it's very warm in here." They all stepped back and Jack closed the door.
"What I want to know is that if these people are heading to what they believe is Utopia," Romana began, running a hand through her hair. "Just what exactly makes them believe it is the perfect Utopia?"
Suddenly an old man came up to them and looked between Romana and Martha in confusion before turning to Martha. "Romana?"
"I'm Romana." Romana corrected, looking at the man curiously.
The old man beamed delightedly and grabbed Romana's hand before dragging her away. "Good. Good. Good. Good." The man kept muttering as he dragged Romana further down the hall.
Romana struggled to release her hand from his but ended up letting him dragging her away, before looking back at the others. "Apparently that's a good thing." She commented and Braxiatel couldn't help but feel slightly apprehensive with this man who dragged Romana into what appeared to be an office where Braxiatel saw a female Malmooth waiting for them inside.
"Chan-welcome-tho." Chantho greeted, bowing slightly as they entered.
The man who introduced himself as Professor Yana was explaining to Romana about his work, showing all her all his hard work that he had done over the years. "This is the gravitational accelerator. It's part of the-" He showed her something else, getting slightly ahead of himself. "And over here is the footprint impellor system. If you know anything about endtime gravity-"
Martha greeted Chanto. "Hello. Who are you?"
Chantho smiled. "Chan-Chantho-tho."
"Captain Jack Harkness." Jack greeted, shaking her hand in a flirty manner.
Braxiatel looked over towards Jack from where he was standing next to Romana. "Stop flirting for one microsecond please! Heel boy."
Martha giggled as Jack pulled a face at him before winking at Chantho. "Maybe later, blue." He went over to join the time-lord's, Martha following him. "So, what have we got here?" He took of his rucksack, putting it down and Martha frowned as she heard a strange bleeping sound coming from the rucksack.
Romana looked over to Professor Yana, examining the results. "And all this feeds into the rocket you say?"
Yana nodded. "Yeah, except without a stable footprint we'll never achieve escape velocity. If only we could harmonize the five impact patterns and unify them, well, we might yet make it. What do you think, Romanadvoratrelundar? Any ideas?"
Romana tapped her feet, looking over the results once more before looking at him. "I'm more of a politician than a scientist to tell you the truth Professor. Not only that, myself and my friends are not supposed to be here. It's against my laws to even be here."
Yana looked objected and downcast. He needed another scientist badly. He wanted to make sure everything was perfect for all these people to be sent to Utopia. He needed all the help he could get and right now he had none. "No, no. I'm sorry. It's my fault. There's been so little help." Braxiatel sent him a concern look when Martha made her way into the sitting area where Jack's rucksack was and she pulled out a glass jar with a hand inside that was had bubbling liquid.
Martha looked at it with horror as she sets the hand on the table and the others came over. "Oh my god." She looked over to Jack, her mouth wide open with disgust. "You've got a hand. A hand in a jar. A hand in a jar in your bag."
Braxiatel walked over to it, sitting down on the couch before raising an eyebrow. "Is there a particular reason as to why you have my hand in a jar?" He hoped that Jack didn't do any of his disgusting habits to it. Though he had to admit, it was a bit alarming as to why Jack had his hand in the first place.
Jack shrugged. "I said I had a Time-Lord detector."
Chantho looked confused between them. "Chan-is this a tradition amongst your people-tho?"
Martha shook her head, still looking at the hand and feeling slightly disgusted with it. "Not on my street." She glanced at Braxiatel. "What d'you mean that's your hand? You've got both your hands, I can see them."
"It was a long day that day." Romana commented, remembering how she was recovering from her regeneration. Her regeneration had gone badly. So badly that she was unconscious for most of the day, making Braxiatel in charge and up to him to save the world. But she couldn't help but be glad that she was awake just in time to see him sword fight.
Braxiatel nodded in agreement. "Romana was recovering from a serious regeneration process that day so it was down to me to stop the Sycorax on Christmas day. I say it would not be the first time I duelled with the Sycorax but it would be the first time I lost my hand."
Martha scoffed, not believing him. She knew about the spaceship over London. She saw it with her own eyes but she didn't except Braxiatel to regrow body parts. Just what else were these time-lord's hiding? "What? And you grew another hand?"
Braxiatel smirked before waving with his hand. "Actually I did. Hello." Romana couldn't help but chuckle slightly at Martha's reaction. Humans. They were so willing to deny everything that was in front of them.
Yana looked between Romana and Braxiatel with a confused expression. "Might I ask, what species are you two?" In all the years he had been a professor, never has he come across the likes of Romana and Braxiatel. Something about them were intriguing. As though something was pulling him into their world.
"Time-Lady and he's a Time-Lord. We're the very last of our kind truth be told." Romana told him, proud to be a Time-Lady. "Have you ever heard of the Time-Lords? We came from the planet Gallifrey." Yana shook his head as did Chantho and Romana's face fell. "And here I thought that we Time-Lord's would be remembered for everything that they did." It was to be expected but she couldn't help but feel hurt. The Time-Lord's used to be one of the most powerful races in the universe. Races used to be terrified of their power of time.
"Not even in Myths?" Braxiatel asked suggestively. "Or have you ever heard of the Braxiatel Collection? The famous museum?" Yana and Chantho shook their heads once more. Braxiatel turned to Romana, actually feeling hurt. The Time War. It really all was for nothing. "Our people certainly have turned to dust."
"Chan-it is said that I am the last of my species too-tho." Chantho spoke sadly. Despite being around humans and making a new family, nothing would ever replace her real family. She missed her mother and father. She missed her older siblings. She missed all the festivals and traditions that the Malmooth used to share. She just missed them every moment of each day.
"Your name is Chantho yes?" Romana asked softly and Chantho nodded.
Yana looked at Chantho fondly. "My assistant and good friend, Chantho. A survivor of the Malmooth. This was their planet, Malcassairo, before we took refuge."
"Before I found Braxiatel, I thought I was well and truly alone." Romana began, looking at Chantho. She avoided mentioning the Time-War. It was not something she wished to bring up."There may still be hope for you Chantho. Never give up on hope because I never did." She looked at Braxiatel fondly who squeezed her hand.
Chantho smiled faintly, knowing Romana was wrong. It was nice for Romana not to be alone but Chantho knew. She saw the end of her people with a blink of an eye. "Chan-most grateful-tho."
Martha looked at Braxiatel, looking at his hands. "You grew another hand?" She asked, still unable to believe it.
Braxiatel sighed and stood up, holding out the hand that he regrew. "Honestly Martha, it's perfectly normal for Time-Lord biology. It's still me." He wiggled his fingers for her to shake his hand, trying to calm her down.
Martha hesitantly shook his hand, laughing nervously. "All this time you and Romana are still full of surprises."
