I would've updated earlier... But I had orientation. -_-

Chapter 35

Mustardseed paid all of the expenses of my trips around the world.

I couldn't stay anywhere for too long, I'd get too anxious and leave at whatever hour I felt that I couldn't take it anymore.

It was a weird way to live and Mustardseed and I both knew it. He constantly asked me when I was gonna come visit New York.

The answer was not any time soon.

Mustardseed called me every day and he kept me updated on everything in Faerie, even though we both knew I didn't really care.

But it was nice to just hear him talk and not have him expect me to say anything back.

Mustardseed told me that Sabrina had turned down Bradley's proposal, and then his second one about a year later.

I told myself that she was just nervous about getting married so soon, we'd been together since we were just teenagers. It made sense. Right?

I was in Africa when I got a sudden phone call from Mustardseed.

I was getting ready to go on a safari and it was almost noon, which was odd time for Mustardseed to call me. He usually waited until it was nighttime wherever I was to call me.

"Hello?" I answered as I hit speaker.

"Thank God you answered!" Mustardseed exclaimed.

I frowned as I pulled a clean shirt on. "What's up?" I asked.

"Sabrina and Bradley are getting married, Puck."

I stared at my phone on my dresser for what seemed like forever.

"Puck?" Mustardseed asked. "Puck, are you still there?"

"How do you know they're getting married?" I asked, dangerously quietly. I knew I was going to explode.

"She told me," Mustardseed answered quietly. "She came to Faerie to tell me."

"When?" I asked.

"She just left," Mustardseed replied.

I closed my eyes and said nothing.

"Puck?" Mustardseed asked again.

"What exactly did she tell you?" I asked and opened them.

There was silence.

"Mustardseed?" I said impatiently and grabbed my phone.

"She came to ask if I knew where you were," Mustardseed answered quietly.

"And you told her that you had no idea where I was," I mumbled.

"And she said that if I didn't know, then you obviously didn't care enough to know what was going on here in New York," Mustardseed quietly.

I gulped and said nothing.

"I asked why she wanted to know before she left," Mustardseed continued.

"What'd she say?" I whispered.

"She said: 'I wanted to know before I married Bradley.'"

I stared at the roof and clutched my phone. "When's the wedding?" I asked.

"This Saturday."

The day after tomorrow.

I gulped again. "Mustardseed?"

"Yes, Puck?" Mustardseed answered.

"Can you get me on the next flight from Africa to New York City?"

"Gladly, brother." I could hear in his voice that he was grinning.

"And does Red have new cell phone number?" I asked.

"How would I know?" Mustardseed replied.

I sighed. "I was just wondering," I answered. "Tell me what time my flight leaves."

I hung up and went through my contacts until I found Red. I bit my lip and my finger hovered over the call button.

Just do it, Puck.

I pressed it and put the phone to my ear.

It rang and my stomach began to get all knotted up.

"Hello?"

"Red?" I asked.

"Who is this?" Red answered. "You're not in my contacts."

I didn't know how to answer but it turns out I didn't need to.

"Daphne, I swear you better not do anything to Sabrina's wedding dress!" Red yelled. "She'll kill you if you do!"

"Relax, I just want her to look like a princess!" I could hear Daphne answer.

"Daphne-!"

I hung up.

I'd heard enough to know that Mustardseed hadn't been lying.

So as I'm sure you've guessed, a lot of time has passed.
