Frieza's eyes widened at the sight before him. Just what was he doing? Standing there like that? For the past several minutes or so, he has yet to move - not even an inch - and the tyrant couldn't help but wonder what he was up to. After all, he was quite curious. Was it some sort of attack? If so, then what kind was it for it to require such a stance? From afar, unbeknownst to Frieza, Krillin had the very answer to the questions he contained. In fact, in Krillin's opinion, Gohan, as well as Raditz, should have recognized it. After all, the very attack Goku was planning on using on Frieza was the very attack Goku had produced in order for them to use against Vegeta on Earth. Then again, Goku had been in far worse condition on Earth than he was now (unable to stand; let alone move his body much), so he could understand why they wouldn't immediately figure out what he was doing.
"Guys," Krillin began, the former monk quickly becoming the center of attention. Not only was Gohan noticeably curious, but both Piccolo and Raditz were too, the both of them having realized that Goku was most likely planning something. Of course, they had pieced that much together, but that was all they could at the moment. Krillin continued, "this is the Spirit Bomb," he proceeded to explain, shifting his black eyes over to Raditz and Gohan, "you two witnessed the Spirit Bomb before, against Vegeta, remember?"
Raditz's eyes widened in realization, as did Gohan's. Briefly, an image of it being used against Vegeta appeared in the long-haired Saiyan's head, and he couldn't help but recall how curious he had been about the attack; however, at the time, he had been much too focused on his injuries and his own thoughts to be focused on something as trivial as a mere attack. In fact, he had been so caught up in his own affairs that he had forgotten to inquire Kakarot about it. Truthfully, he had forgotten about the attack entirely. Though, now that he thought about, didn't that same attack fail against Vegeta?
"Krillin," Piccolo called out calmly, unknowingly jolting Raditz out of his thoughts. "Just what exactly is this Spirit Bomb?"
The former monk didn't skip a beat.
"It's the ultimate attack," he began, keeping his eyes trained on the scene before them as he did so. "This attack was personally taught to him by the Master himself, King Kai. Mainly, it draws energy; that's one of its purposes. And, by doing so, drawing energy from not only the planet, but the surrounding area as well: the animals, trees, people - simply put, every living organism, it takes the form of a huge ball of energy once enough of said energy has been gathered."
"Really?" Piccolo inquired, though it was more to himself than to anyone else. And, if anything, Piccolo sounded more intrigued than curious. After all, this was his first time hearing about such an attack, and if it was as powerful as Krillin was making it out to be, then perhaps Frieza wouldn't have the last laugh, after all.
However, Gohan wasn't entirely convinced.
"But what if the energy ball isn't enough to take out Frieza? There's hardly any living things on this planet to draw energy from." Gohan stated pointedly, recalling how responsible Frieza and his men were for the lack of living things - specifically, people. And, though he was dead, Vegeta wasn't entirely innocent either. Who known how many Namekians he killed off? Gohan clenched his fists at the recollection, beginning to get worked up from the mere thought alone. However, he quickly reminded himself that as terrible as what Frieza and Vegeta did was, the most important thing at the moment was whether or not the Spirit Ball would be enough. With the dragon balls nothing more than balls of stone, the Namekians couldn't be wished back; even so, if not that, there was a possibility that they could be avenged.
"You have a point," Raditz's interjected before Krillin could open his mouth to respond, "but remember what the cue ball said, kid." Raditz ignored Krillin's frown at his nickname for him, continuing as if he hadn't spotted Krillin's displeasure for the insult, "This spirit ball draws energy from every living organism, so even if there aren't much people present, there's still the trees and, even more, a possibility that he could collect enough energy to take out Frieza."
"In short," Piccolo pitched in, "we won't know how this'll fare out until Goku actually goes through with it. In the meantime, we just have to put our trust in Goku for the time-being, and see what happens."
And with that, all attention diverted back onto the battle.
As for Goku, whom was still panting heavily, an eye clenched shut in utter exhaustion, the Saiyan still kept his arms up and remained as he was, determined to take Frieza down once and for all. Once again, it wasn't just his friend's lives that were resting on his shoulders, but the lives of those in the universe as well. If he lost here, then there was no telling what kind of pain and torture he'd put everyone through; and if it was one thing Goku knew for certain, it was the fact that he had to defeat Frieza here. Already, Frieza was responsible for so much (more like too much), and it was time that his rule and days as a tyrant came to an end. However, it seemed as if Planet Namek didn't have nearly enough energy to take down Frieza. In that case, seeing as losing was not an option, perhaps if he concentrated enough, he could gather enough energy from the stars of Namek.
It was certainly worth a shot.
Even if he wasn't supposed to use it.
King Kai had warned him of the dangers of using the Spirit Bomb upon first teaching it to him, so he was well aware of the consequences. For one, he could destroy the Planet Namek itself, and if not that, then the Spirit Bomb itself could cause immense damage. And, with his friends still on Planet Namek, he was putting them at a huge risk - one he rather not take. However, be that as it may, he had no choice. Besides, when he used the Spirit Bomb on Vegeta on Earth, his friends around him ended up being just fine. Then again, the Spirit Bomb he intended on using on Frieza was going to be far bigger than the one he used against Vegeta - after all, Frieza's power level was unfathomable and Vegeta was no where as near as strong as Frieza was. Naturally, it'd take a whole lot of energy as opposed to what he used against Vegeta.
Suddenly, towering fountains of water shot up from the depths of the ridge separating Frieza and Goku from one another.
Frieza looked amused.
"Aw, how cute." The tyrant mocked with a smirk, arms folded across his chest. "The Saiyan's trying to use some cheap water trick in an attempt to intimidate me." Frieza chuckled, throughly amused. "Tell me; what other little tricks do you want to show me? After all, the least I can do is humor you before I end your pathetic life."
Goku said nothing in response, being sure to remain as he was. He wasn't sure how much longer Frieza would stick to the belief that he was trying to intimidate him, but as long as he continued to do so, he'd be sure to use every second to his advantage. And, despite the process being rather slow, the energy he was collecting was definitely increasing in size. Without a doubt in his mind, this would have definitely went by faster if he there were more living organisms to take energy from; nevertheless, he wasn't exactly in any position to be complaining.
"Come on," Krillin urged hurriedly to no one in particular. Specifically, he was urging Goku to collect the energy he needed in order to take care of Frieza once and for all. Frieza had been around for far too long now; and though he wasn't certain how they all managed to survive against him for this long, quite frankly, he was ready for the guy to kick the bucket already. Truthfully, from the moment they were first confronted with Frieza, alongside the others, he had been hoping for him to magically keel over. Sadly, it didn't. Though, seeing as he had been stuck in quite the nightmare, he figured he at least had the right to dream.
Suddenly, eyes widening, the former monk found himself jolting out of his thoughts upon feeling something big. In fact, he wasn't even sure if 'big' was the proper word to describe what he was sensing. And, judging by Piccolo's and everyone else's expression, they felt it as well.
Piccolo was first to recover, snapping his wide eyes onto Krillin. "Wait a minute! What is that?!"
Though, before Krillin could respond, Gohan was releasing a noise of surprise, eyes wide as he took in the source of his shock. Unbelievable! The one his father used on Earth didn't even come close to the one currently above his father. "Look!" Gohan exclaimed, noting that everyone was quick to shift their attention onto him, and follow his line of sight. Quickly, they did so, and everyone's expressions were swift to mirror Gohan's, their eyes wide, if not wider.
Raditz, on the other hand, couldn't believe it. It was huge. Granted, due to the cue ball's explanation of the Spirit Bomb, he knew that it was going to be big - especially, since Kakarot was gathering ki - but for it be this immense, Raditz could only describe it as insane. And that wasn't even the most of it, the Spirit Bomb was still increasing in size. The long-haired Saiyan had to wonder how much longer it'd be ready; for, in his opinion, it looked more than ready. Then again, he supposed Kakarot wanted to be absolutely sure he got rid of Frieza once and for all - in which he didn't blame him. Though, admittingly, Raditz was curious as to how much longer he could keep Frieza oblivious to his attack. If possible, then perhaps Frieza wouldn't notice until the last-minute. But, then again, this was Frieza they were dealing with.
And, speaking of which, Frieza still had yet to figure out what was actually going on. The tyrant wasn't sure whether or not the Saiyan was merely taking a break, or if he was merely attempting to make a fool out of him. Either way, his patience was beginning to thin out, and whatever it was the monkey before him was doing, it wouldn't matter too much longer when he was squashed beneath his feet like the filthy pest he was.
"That attack," Raditz began, black eyes locked on said attack, "is seemingly getting bigger every second."
Krillin nodded his head in agreement. "I'd say it's about fifty meters in diameters, and that means that Goku must be drawing energy from other planets as well."
Piccolo gave a curt nod. "That makes sense, seeing as there isn't exactly much for Goku to work with on Planet Namek; however - " The Namekian shifted his eyes off of the Genki Dama, and onto Krillin - "I don't understand why Goku isn't using it already."
"If I had to guess," Raditz pitched in stoically, "I'd say Kakarot doesn't think it's ready yet."
"At this rate, though," Gohan began, still in awe of the attack before them all, "it'll be ready in no time."
"Tell me about it." Krillin agreed with a nod. "Looks like luck is on our side; Frieza doesn't have any idea of the Spirit Bomb."
"Kakarot's taking advantage of Frieza's inability to detect ki." Raditz supplied. "However," the long-haired Saiyan continued seriously, "seeing as I've had the misfortune of knowing such a feen, I know full-well that it won't be too much longer before Frieza gets impatient."
On cue, Frieza spoke, voicing his irritation. "Are you done stalling? My patience is growing thin." The tyrant remarked, though, it was more than evident that he was beginning to get tired of waiting. If anything, it was all over his face. For the past several minutes or so - or however long; for Frieza lost count - the Saiyan before him hasn't moved an inch, and remained stationary in one spot. No longer was he thinking that he was taking a break or trying to make a fool out of him, but now he knew that he was merely trying to stall.
"Answer me!" Frieza barked when Goku failed to respond, red eyes narrowing.
Goku remained silent.
And, scowling, Frieza was over the ridge before Goku could even process what was happening, kicking him square in the face and sending him hurling backwards. Afterwards, touching down on the ground in that of a hopping position, the red-eyed tyrant watched as Goku merely rose back up, chuckling and then returning back to the way he had been prior to be attacked. At Goku's audacity, Frieza's red eyes narrowed even further and his scowl deepened considerably; it was more than evident that Frieza was far from pleased, and didn't take too kindly being ignored. "How dare you." Frieza remarked with utter disdain.
Again, Goku didn't respond. Instead, the spiky-haired warrior merely chuckled, failing to stop even when he noted that Frieza was approaching him once more. Angrily, upon reaching him, Frieza delivered a mean chop to the side of Goku's neck, forcing him to stumble backwards. Momentarily, Goku lost his balance as a result, but he was quick to regain his bearings; however, before he could even think about getting straight, Frieza was already on him, mercilessly assaulting him with punches and kicks. As for Goku, he had no choice but to take the onslaught - after all, he was still collecting energy and couldn't afford to lose his control over it. Having said that, Goku, upon slamming into the ground courtesy of Frieza's kick, he was quick to get back up and put his hands up. The Spirit Bomb just needed a little more energy, and once he collected that, then he could finally use it and end Frieza for good.
"You're really testing my patience." Frieza gritted out with clenched fists.
I have to keep him distracted...at least until it's ready.
Knowing that it'd do nothing but rile up Frieza even more, Goku released yet another chuckle, and just as he expected, Frieza was before him yet again. Relentlessly, Frieza put Goku on the receiving end of a punches and kicks, this time being absolutely sure that he was putting as much force as he could behind his attacks.
"Aw, man!" Krillin exclaimed with eyes just as wide as Gohan's. "Goku's not fighting back! This doesn't look too good! I'm not sure what will happen if Frieza happens to spot the attack before it's ready, but I have the feeling that it won't be pretty."
"Listen up," Piccolo began quickly, stretching his hands out for Krillin and Gohan to take. "At this rate, things are bound to get worse if we don't interfere. Lend me your power, and I'll go assist Goku." Piccolo shifted his eyes onto the older Saiyan. "You two, Raditz."
Wordlessly, as Goku continued getting assaulted, everyone did as requested of them, Raditz's placing a hand on Piccolo's shoulder and transferring his ki over to the Namekian. Meanwhile, with Goku, once Frieza finished yet another bout of attacks, the Saiyan placed his hands up again, chuckling. "You should really lighten up, Frieza."
Frieza's eyes widened briefly; however he was quick to recover, smirking lightly. "Lighten up?" He repeated, smirk widening further as he regarded the black-eyed Saiyan. Without an once of hesitation, Frieza positioned a hand before him, a small purplish orb coming to life. "Well then, how's this for size?" He inquired tauntingly, watching as Goku's eyes widened before releasing it.
Oh, no!
Those were the only words Goku could get out, before he found himself hurling backwards the moment Frieza's attack connected. Literally, the Saiyan was skidding backwards, atop of the water for a bit until gravity kicked in and swallowed him up. As a result, a huge splash of water occurred, and it wasn't too much longer before Goku managed to resurface, panting exhaustively as he clung to the shoreline. The spiky-haired warrior needed at least a minute or two to recuperate, though, it seemed as if Frieza wasn't willing to grant him that time; for he was strolling towards him.
"You did the one thing that truly aggravates me," Frieza began, eyes locked on Goku's exhausted ones, "and now you will pay. You Saiyans and the way you think makes me sick, but I suppose it won't matter much longer; I intend to rid every last of you filthy Saiyans." Meaningfully, his eyes diverted onto Raditz before flickering back onto to Goku, "and after I'm finished with you, and then Raditz, I'm going to take care of your friends and those that dare to rise against me throughout the universe." Frieza released a sinister chuckle at the mere thought of his plan, point a finger at Goku's slumped form,"It's over you Saiyan filth! Say your - "
Frieza halted mid sentence, eyes widening upon spotting a rather vast reflection of what appeared to be the sun behind Goku. Frieza's eyes narrowed. That was definitely not the sun. Though this planet was no longer of any use to him, he had gotten quite familiar with this planet and knew for certain that there was no such thing as a blue sun on Planet Namek. Quickly, Frieza looked upwards, eyes widening in utter shock upon spotting what he originally thought to be the sun. Mouth falling agape, Frieza was truly taken aback. Just what was that up there? It was so immense, and he couldn't recall seeing anything like it before. If one thing was for certain, it was that it was a ball of energy. However, with it being so huge, just how did his opponent manage to make the time to produce such a thing?
Briefly, an image of the strange stance Goku had been in earlier appeared in his head, and Frieza's eyes immediately widened upon experiencing the recollection. So that was what he has been up to this entire time? Collecting energy into one giant ball? Even so, where did he get such a mass amount of energy from in the first place? Goku, on the other hand, couldn't help but beat himself up. The Spirit Bomb wasn't finished yet, and he failed to keep Frieza from finding out about it until the last-minute. Now that Frieza knew about it, it'd be much harder to hit him with it; he had been counting on the element of surprise.
Finally getting a hold of himself, the tyrant's lips fell into a smirk. "I get it," He began, his features shifting to that of utter amusement, "that was your attempt at a diversion earlier, but either way," he continued, pointing a finger at Goku,"that attack of yours will not hit me."
In a last-ditch effort, Goku swiftly lunged out of the water, hurling his already cocked fist back upon drawing near Frieza. With ease, Frieza caught his fist, a taunting smirk apparent on his features as he held onto Goku's fist. Frieza chuckled, raising his right hand and pointing a mere finger at Goku once more. With the hold he had on his opponent, by his fist, and with the Saiyan being at such close range of him, Frieza was certain that he wouldn't be escaping this one so easily. Leisurely, just for the sake of doing so, Frieza allowed the tiniest of ki to collect at his fingertips, preparing to finish off the Saiyan once and for all. Though, just in the nick of time, Piccolo interfered before Frieza could do so, planting a foot across his cheek and sending him hurling backwards and plummeting into the water from afar.
"Piccolo!"
Easily, Piccolo touched down on the ground aside Goku,"There's no time to waste. You finish up collecting energy for your attack, and, in the meantime, I'll keep Frieza busy."
"Right." Goku agreed, quickly rising up to his feet and lifting his hands above his head, "Thanks, Piccolo!"
"Don't thank me, just hurry!" Piccolo urged impatiently, his black eyes darting around the surrounding area. That last attack he used on Frieza was about all he had, and used up all of his energy in the process, so he was well-aware of the risk he was taking. And to think, not even several years ago, he held such disdain for both he and Gohan. Now, just as he did with Gohan, he was risking his life for Goku as well. Suddenly, the sight of Frieza emerging out of the water he sent him in earlier, jolted Piccolo out of his thoughts. And, immediately, the Namekian snapped his eyes over in that direction, a light scowl donning his features. Even from where he stood, he could tell that Frieza was far from happy.
Not good.
"Goku!"
"It's still not ready yet, Piccolo! As it is now, there's no way it'll be able to defeat Frieza! I need just a little more time!"
Piccolo didn't respond, clenching his fists instead as he ascended to Frieza's level. He couldn't believe he was doing this. Frieza was in his final form and he stood no chance against him (that was a given since Frieza transformed into his Third Form); yet, even so, here he was in what was none-other than a death match, taking him on despite being aware of such things.
Frieza made a noise amusement, all traces of anger seemingly vanishing. "If it isn't the last pathetic Namekian. Don't worry. Soon enough, you'll be joining the other Namekians."
Instead of responding, Piccolo merely grunted, collecting as much ki as he could and, stretching an arm out towards Frieza, he swiftly proceeded. With a small battle cry, Piccolo released a disc-like attack towards Frieza, whom merely allowed it to hit him without so much as batting an eye. "Ouch." Frieza remarked tauntingly, "that's quite the attack."
Growling, Piccolo proceeded to hurl out attacks of similar nature, this time, it was more than one and Piccolo had the tyrant on the receiving end of a barrage of ki blasts. Again, Frieza did nothing but remain as he was, arms folded across his chest as he donned an expression that clearly stayed that he was amused. After all, the Namekian before him was futilely attacking him, knowing that he stood no chance against him, and was doing nothing but throwing away his life. Meanwhile, Piccolo, finished up his assault with a final ki blast, this one much larger, and, throughly exhausted, he panted heavily. If he continued at this rate, then he wouldn't be able to stall Frieza much longer; however, he put every he had in those ki blasts and at least some damage had to be done. Though, to Piccolo's utter shock, when the smoke - produced from the explosions of his ki blast - cleared, Frieza was in plain sight.
He didn't have much time to dwell on it.
Swiftly, phasing in from in front of Piccolo and reappearing behind him in the same fashion, Frieza grasped Piccolo's right shoulder-blade and squeezed, eliciting a pained scream out of the Namek. However, Frieza wasn't quite done yet, kneeing Piccolo in the midsection and then following it up with the drop of his elbow atop of his back, forcing him to double over. From just three hits, he was already finished. Features scrunched up in an expression that wholly mirrored pain, Piccolo shakily lifted his head in order to see how Goku was doing over in his area. Unfortunately, from the looks of things, he still wasn't finished. In other words, despite how futile it may be, he had no choice but to keep Frieza busy. With that in mind, Piccolo phased out of sight and behind Frieza, hefting up his clasped hands and moving to drive it down atop of Frieza's head. Easily, though, Frieza evaded it with a jerk to the side, whirling around and catching Piccolo with a a twirl kick. As expected, he hurled downwards, though, still intending on toying around, Frieza phased in below Piccolo and slugged him straight in the jaw, following it up with an elbow to the face and then a kick to the midsection, said kick strong enough to send him hurling downwards.
Harshly, he slammed down on the ground behind Goku with a grunt, clenching the dirt beneath his fingers. "That's it, Goku." He couldn't fight anymore. He tried to fight for the sake of the current predicament they were in, but after Frieza's last deal of attacks, it wouldn't be so easy to do so again. "It's up to you now."
Just a little more.
Goku scowled lightly, shifting his eyes off of Piccolo and onto Frieza, whom was descending on the ground before Piccolo. And then, upon seeing Frieza point a finger towards Piccolo, Goku's eyes widened. And to Goku's utter relief, Krillin and Gohan interfered, the both of them sending their respective ki blasts hurling towards Frieza on either side. Raditz, on the other hand, the moment the smoke cleared and Frieza was revealed to be guarding himself, touched down on the ground before him and slugged the tyrant as hard as he could, sending him hurling backwards.
"Saturday Crush!" Raditz exclaimed, following up his punch with his signature attack. Though, instead of taking his attack head on like he did with Piccolo, Frieza managed to recover before he could slam into the ground, swatting away Raditz's attack with ease. Not only that, but...
Frieza was livid.
"That's it!" He declared, ascending upwards. "I've had about enough of you!" Frieza raised an arm above his head, collecting redish-blackish ki at his finger tips as he released a sadistic laugh. Having been occupied with the Saiyan, he forgot about the other two. No matter, he was going to destroy them all. "I'm going to destroy you along with this pathetic planet!"
"Goku." Piccolo called out, the urgency present in his tone. If Goku didn't do something soon, Frieza was going to take out the entire planet. "Is it ready?"
For a while, Goku didn't answer, and for a minute or so, Piccolo was under the impression that he still had yet to complete it. And then, just when he thought his question was going to go unanswered, Goku finally responded. "Yes! It's complete!"
"Do it!"
Goku certainly didn't have to be told twice, immediately slamming his hands forward.
Frieza, whom had been in the process of gathering his ki, halted and slowly turned around with wide eyes. The giant ball of energy was heading straight for him, and, not only that, but it easily absorbed his attack. Eyes widening further, the tyrant turned around completely and futilely stuck out his hands in an attempt to halt the attack with sheer will power alone. Instantaneously, though, Frieza felt himself being pushed back and quickly realized that this wasn't just any attack he could halt with his hands alone. He bared his teeth. No! This was impossible! He refused to go out like this! He wouldn't go out like this! Even so, he was still being forced backwards, and eventually found himself being pushed into the vast sea of waters Planet Namek contained. And while, everyone else took cover, Frieza had nowhere to hide.
The damage such power was causing was immediate; cliffs were shattering to bits, harsh winds were produced, and the Spirit Bomb was literally destroying everything in its surrounding area and then some.
Frieza stood no chance.
A/N: I appreciate all of the feedback, reviews, and support I received so far. I can't tell you how much it means to me; however, unfortunately, I didn't get to the surprise this chapter, but it'll definitely be next chapter. Truthfully, I don't think anyone will see it coming. And don't worry, the next chapter will definitely be out tomorrow.
