AN: Sorry for not updating over the weekend. I usually take the weekend off from writing so I don't get burn out. As a little warning I'll probably do that every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Its kind of like not working over the weekend. I'm trying to update all of my stories more but since I have nine stories going its easy to get writer's block. Once again anything you recognize is JK Rowling's anything you don't is mine.
Severus POV
November 22, 1994
I walked through the library towards the secluded Herbology section where Irma hid her romance novels. To be perfectly honest I really did enjoy the novels. I could see why the seventh year girls read them.
A soft voice drifted over to me and I froze. I recognized that voice.
"...But they're not simple spells, I mean, we haven't done any of those in class, I only know about them because I've been doing O.W.L. practice papers. . . ."
"Hermione," Potter's voice snapped, "will you shut up for a bit, please? I'm trying to concentrate."
I peaked my head around the corner to see Granger and Potter surrounded by stacks of books about dragons. How the bloody hell did he know the first task involved dragons? One of the teachers must have told him or Hagrid. And Granger would help him, of course, but Weasley wasn't anywhere to be seen. Now that I thought about it Weasley had been avoiding the two of them.
"Oh no, he's back again, why can't he read on his stupid ship?" Granger said irritably as Krum slouched in, cast a surly look over at Potter and Granger, and settled himself in a distant corner with a pile of books. "Come on, Harry, we'll go back to the common room. . . his fan club'll be here in a moment, twittering away... ."
Granger swept her books into a pile and strode out the door her curly hair floating behind her. Krum looked after her a pained look on his face. He blinked slowly then slouched in his chair dropping his head into his hand. A moment later a group of girls from Hufflepuff strode into the library giggling and smiling at Krum. His eyes widened and he slowly slouched down in his chair trying to make himself invisible.
I growled deep in the back of my throat before I stormed out of the library. He liked Granger. And I wanted to strangle him for it.

Remus, Sirius and I sat together waiting for Potter to come out. Both of them were as pale as ghosts and I was nervously tapping my fingers against my leg. Diggory had gone first and had Transfigured a rock into a dog unfortunately the dragon had been more interested in Diggory and had burned his face. Delacour had enchanted the dragon so it would sleep but the dragon had snorted and her dress had caught on fire. Krum had blinded the dragon, stupid really it could have stepped on him the fool, and it had stepped on half her eggs. She had been furious when she had realized what had happened and had gone after Krum a second time.
Potter strode out of the tent his shoulders thrown back. I may have not liked the boy but in this moment I was very proud of him. He didn't show his fear.
Potter waved his wand through the air and bellowed a spell that no one could hear. He stood there for a moment waiting patiently for something. Remus and Sirius exchanged a nervous look and I bit my lip nervously.
The Hungarian Horntail was starting to look angry but a moment later Potter's broomstick flew through the air and stopped next to him. He jumped on it, kicked off from the ground and soared through the air his hair whipping around his face.
I barely listened to the commentary as Potter soared and dove trying to retrieve the egg. It looked like he was trying to make it dizzy. He was circling the dragon soaring up and down and all around. One of the times he dodged the dragons fire he had gone into a spectacular dive but her tail had come around and had torn his shoulder.
A familiar scream sounded close by and my eyes flicked to Granger. She was gripping Weasley's arm her face as white as parchment. Weasley looked just as scared and his face was pained. He must have finally realized Potter hadn't put his name in the Goblet of Fire.
I turned back to Potter just as the dragon spread her great leathery wings and flew into the air. Potter dove towards the unprotected eggs as fast as he could. Remus, Sirius and I jumped up yelling ourselves hoarse. Potter reached out and scooped up the golden egg and rose it in the air a triumphant smile on his face.
Everyone was yelling excitedly. Sirius and I high fived each other and Remus was smiling brilliantly before turning to Sirius, a brilliant smile on his face.
"I can't believe he did it!" I yelled shaking my head in disbelief.
"I can." Sirius said with a laugh.
"Look at that!" Bagman was yelling. "Will you look at that! Our youngest champion is quickest to get his egg! Well, this is going to shorten the odds on Mr. Potter!"
I turned to say something to Remus but froze when I saw Granger hugging Weasley, a look of contentment on her face. My throat closed up and I looked away. She deserved a moment of happiness.
