Ch. 36: The First of Packing
Maddie walked to Alfred's hospital room after school. She walked inside it and saw Alfred asleep on his bed. She smiled slightly and grabbed his papers out of her book bag. She set it on the table beside his bed. Sitting down on a chair, she waited a few minutes for him to wake, but he still stayed asleep.
Maddie pulled out a sheet of notebook paper and wrote 'Hey, Al. I came by around 4:30 after school. I waited about seven minutes and you didn't wake up. I didn't want to wake you so I'm writing this note to say I'll see you tomorrow. -Maddie '
She sighed, setting it down on his homework. She stood up. She kissed his forehead then walked out of the room and back home. She walked into the house with a dull look.
"Cheri? Is that you? You're home early," Francis called from the kitchen.
"Alfred was asleep. I only dropped off his work and left," she said slowly walking to the stairs.
"What's wrong? You sound sad."
"I'm not," she lied. "I'm just tired."
"Ahh, well, at 7:30 dinner'll be ready."
"Okay. Good night if I fall asleep."
"Good night, l'amour."
Maddie walked up to her room and sat on her bed. She looked around her room. It wasn't much but it suited her. It was a square room. You walked in and there was the closet behind the door. On the other side of the door, going into her room was a small table pushed against the wall. Centered under the furthest wall from the door was her bed. The other wall had a desk under it. A window was near that, too. Like stated before, it wasn't much, but it was her.
She was going to miss that room, that house, and everyone in the small town. She hadn't even got to meet her neighbors yet.
She stood up a few minutes later. She needed to start packing. Some of her stuff was already in boxes because she just recently moved. Most of the boxes that were still packed were in the guest room. Some in the rooms that they belonged in. She didn't even get comfortable and they were moving again.
She opened an empty box she got out of her closet and started cleaning out her dresser, putting the clothes into said empty box.
After a few drawers cleaned out, she sat on the bed again, sighing.
Man, she was going to miss it there. Not as much as her birth town (she did grow up there) but enough to have a pain in her heart about the thought of leaving in less than two weeks.
Twelve days. Twelve days until she went down south. Eleven days until the school dance; the last day she'd ever see Alfred for a long while.
Ko climbed onto her bed and rubbed against Maddie's hand. Maddie looked at the cat and half-heartedly petted her head.
I wonder how Ko will take it if she were in my position...? Would she be sad? ... Of course she'd be. Who wouldn't?
"Sometimes, I think you have it easy, Ko," she muttered looking at the kitty cat. Ko licked her hand twice in response. She then curled up towards the pillow and began giving herself a bath. Maddie sighed and laid next to Ko, petting her. Ko's response was licking her hand again.
Maddie slowly fell asleep to this.
Heyo~! Please give a round of applause to the next chapter of 'Can You Be My Hero'! Yeah! Whoohoo! I dunno, so don't ask.. O.o Anywho, as usual, we hope you liked this chapter as well as those already out! Thanks for reading and until next time, peace! ~Love-Peace-Anime
QuinnStormTwilight: I know the feeling. I've moved away before (but my friends knew, so...) and they were all upset and stuff. I lost contact with them for about five or six years and last year, I finally found them again! Cool, huh? I've had a friend move away and didn't tell me. I was upset. At first I thought 'oh she's just missing a couple days of school!' But a couple days turned to weeks, which turned to months... And yeah... Anywho, thanks for the review!
Blood-Stained BallGowns: Yup! Thanks! We'll try! Thanks for reviewing!
Aurora Chen: Really? Okay. O.o Oh! You mean Mathias, I thought you meant Maddie or somethin'! Yeah, I don't know what's up with him, honestly. He could be a runaway, but I haven't really thought out WHY he has't been caught yet... That could be a reason. Thank you for the review!
Cardfighter By Heart: I know she can't but don't blame me! T-T I only write it! It's DTKIH's ideas! Don't hate the player, hate the game! :) Thanks for your review!
CatForKitKatz: I don't know if you want me to reply to all at once or each individually. O.o I'll do it all at once! :D Yush, he's the younger one. It wouldn't make much sense if he was older, then he'd be like a pedophile or somethin', you know? She's 15 and in high school and he's over twenty and such... How about EET'S AMAZINGLY AWESOME 'CUZ EET'S YOUR FAVORITE STORY OF ALL TIME? Yay, nay? I dunno. You decide! :3 We thank you for saying that, though! It makes us feel really awesome when people like our things, you know? (I bet that sounds really cheesy, huh?)... I agree, but as I said, it's not my idea. I just write it. SORRY WE MADE YOU DEPRESSED WE DIDN'T MEAN TO! I'll give you some of Feli's pasta if you cheer up, okay? Once again, thanks and we really appreciate it!
