I rested in the shuttle as I engaged in continuing Ben's tradition of listening to Rage Against the Machine just before jumping headfirst into whatever shit was set in front of us. Dressed in battle gear marked with the N7 designation, I was fully equipped with my Lancer, Mattock, Piranha, M11, the dagger from Daxy and of course my kukri knife, Sierra. Sharpening my stolen knife against the other that extended from my omni-tool, I turned to one of the Marines who was assigned to guard the dignitaries that were negotiating terms with the extremists as I turned off my music. "I'm sorry what was that you said?" I pointed to the ebony weapon. "Kind of zoned out there taking care of Sierra."

"Don't worry about it Service Chief Wolfert, sir." That was one of the only things I disliked about the N7 designation, Marine grunts like I was just a few months ago were always on formal tones until I told them to relax.

I waved him off. "Please, just call me Wolf or Chief."

"Yes sir chief." Mentally I facepalmed, guess some habits are hard to get rid of. "I just wanted to wish you and Service Chief Woley the best of luck in your mission. We're less than a minute out from the drop zone."

"Thanks for that Marine. Take care of the cargo." I pointed to the political figureheads that were going to be sent in as well. Despite the fact that this had already been planned to be this way before Mitch and I were even assigned, it made me a little nervous to have not only the female hostage but now these guys fates' resting solely in our hands.

"Will do Chief. Take out a few of those pirate bastards for me."

"You got it buddy." I went over and tapped Woley who was in the middle of putting the final touches on his weapon of choice, the Mantis sniper rifle. In addition to that he took the semi-auto Viper sniper rifle, an M77 Paladin heavy pistol and he had swapped out his Tempest SMG for an N7 Hurricane to deal out some more damage up close if they somehow got past his sniping.

The shorter man stood up and tucked the freshly-cleaned weapon onto his back. "You ready to do this Wolf?"

"Let's get this shit over with already."

I pulled the Recon Hood over my face and prepared to jump. Before I could do that though, the same Marine I had just been talking to grabbed my arm. "Hey Wolf wait sir, you don't have your parachute on."

Laughing lightly, I gave a smirk that he unfortunately couldn't see due to the mask. "Don't need one." Mitch sighed at my flair for the dramatic before he jumped out of the moving shuttle. A split second later I followed suit, giving a yell of jubilation as I fell backwards off the aircraft and gave a salute to the confused looking man. Was it necessary? No. Was it showing off? Hell yes. Was it fun? No fucking doubt.

There's nothing quite like being in a complete freefall. As the ground moved towards me I repeatedly made a sound somewhere between shouts of happiness and laughing at the absurdity of the whole thing. Hot. Damn. This is fucking amazing. I smiled happily at the sensation of the wind rushing against my face, thankful for the hood that blocked bugs from flying into my mouth…it's the little things in life you know?

All too soon, solid land started to draw close. Sighing that the event was over, I activated my biotics, lightening my mass and slowing my descent until I touched down lightly on two feet next to Woley who was in the process of abandoning his parachute. He shook his head at me as we started to move through the heavily wooded area on our way to the facility where our objective was located. "You're such an idiot Wolf."

"Probably, but I have a hell of a lot of fun."

"Your recklessness is gonna get you hurt someday you know that?"

"Again, probably." I shrugged. "But that's what I've got the Bio-Cade and biotics for right?"

"And me."

Giving him a light, friendly tap on the back, we continued on our trek. "Well of course, I thought that went without saying."

"Sure it did Wolf. Take point and lead the way."

"Roger that short guy."

LINE BREAK

"Alright here's the deal." Mitch opened his omni-tool and a holographic display came to life. One of the Marines had been surreptitiously gathering data as they entered the facility and somehow managed to sneak off a message to the two of us. Now that the facility was in sight we actually needed to figure out what the plan of action was going to be. "Place only has one entrance, that's right here. It leads into a small room and past that is another little place that leads into the main room on the left. The meeting is happening off to the right in a small conference looking area so we have to stay out of there. Directly across from the entrance to the big portion of the facility is a catwalk with a stairway that leads up to it. Our guy thinks that that's where she's being held since there was quite a few guards standing at attention just outside another room up there."

I took in the information. "I don't like this man. We've got no room to maneuver…no room to sneak in." Pondering the layout some more, I turned back to Mitch. "You can disable the alarm systems right?"

"Please." He gave me a disappointed look from behind his visor. "What do you think I did for that year in N school?"

"Honestly? I have no idea."

"Alright, enough of the chatter." He closed the display. "We need to get moving."

"Can we at least get the other guys out first or something? Minimize the damages if we don't execute…well that's a terrible choice of words," I rethought it quickly, "pull this off perfectly. I hate to think of what could happen if the batarians catch wind of our little coup."

"You're right." He typed up a quick message to the group that was, "negotiating," in the facility. "It's sent. I told them to say that they had to report the proceedings to their bosses immediately and they'd be back to conclude negotiations afterwards."

"Perfect."

We waited for about ten minutes and saw the human dignitaries leaving the facility with batarians holding guns to their backs, making sure that nothing sinister was going on. When the shuttle touched down and picked up the bigwigs, Mitch pointed to the two aliens that were still standing outside. "They don't look like they're moving anytime soon."

"Well let's fucking take 'em out then."

I started to move and Mitch stopped me. "Quietly."

"Fine. I got the close one, you take far."

He nodded before disappearing from sight as he activated his tactical cloak. I brandished my omni-blade and took off a couple seconds afterwards. Staying low to the ground, I sprinted towards my target, praying the whole time that his back would stay turned. Thirty, twenty, ten, five. At the last second the armored Batarian turned around, his eyes wide with realization that he was utterly fucked. Before he could utter a word, I stabbed the omni-blade forward and sliced his neck open. After severing the crucial veins, I cradled the dying man so he would fall silently to the ground before plunging in the fabricated blade one final time, mercifully ending his struggling.

I turned to the remaining mark who had a shimmer behind him that he had not seen yet. An orange flash from Mitch's omni-tool brought him back into sight and he extended his arm as a bright curved object appeared above it. The Infiltrator's hand recoiled back as a bright bolt flew from the device into the four-eyed alien's head, piercing the shields and instantly killing him in almost complete silence.

As we dragged the bodies away from the complex and into the bushes just outside I turned to Mitch and whispered loudly. "What the hell was that? I've never even heard of anything like that before."

He gestured with his arm and the thing appeared again. Now that I was close and could actually study it I realized that it was basically a miniature crossbow that the omni-tool generated from the fabricator housed in it. "Oh yeah, this is a little trick I picked up over the last few months. Forgot to tell you about it." Smiling sheepishly, he finished hiding the bodies and we walked back over until we were close to the entrance of the warehouse. "There's a camera watching the entrance. I'll cloak, get up close and mess with the thing to feed a static loop of nothing on the feed."

"You just do your hacking thing Mitch. I trust you with it." I held my hands up in the universal gesture for, "I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing." "This is your specialty here so get going and I'll cover you."

"Alright." He disappeared from sight. "Just wait here and I'll tell you when to join me."

"Roger that Chief." I can confirm that it felt just as weird as you'd think it would be to talk to someone who you can't see.

I waited for about a half-minute and then Mitch's voice came in over the comms. "We're all clear Wolf. Move up."

I pulled out my pistol and went to the entrance that the infiltrator was currently hacking into. They taught the basics of hacking at N school but I did the bare minimum, just enough to skate by whereas half of Mitch's specialization revolved around tech. "You almost done there?"

His fingers flew over the digital display that was extended from his omni-tool. "Kinda busy here…I'd appreciate some quiet."

"Fine." I sighed and leaned against the door leading into the complex…be really awkward if someone opened this right now.

"Done. Door's unlocked and alarms are disabled."

"Sweet, I'll take lead dog."

"Right behind you then." He readied his omni-bow and prepared to open the door. "Remember, we need quiet takedowns. Suppressed weapons, knives or biotics for you and the bow for me. Anything else and we put the hostage at risk. Be ready for anything, I don't know how many are on the other side of this door."

I set myself, pistol in my right hand and biotics flaring in the other. "Do it."

As the door disappeared from view I dashed into the room, seeing two enemies off to the right with their backs to the door and one directly in front of us who had just turned at the sound of the entranceway opening. "Wolf, duck!"

I rolled off to the right and tossed a large stasis field that trapped the two other combatants before they could move, trusting Mitch to take care of the one directly in front of me. The sound of his bow releasing an arrow and a body hitting the floor a second later reassured my faith in my partner. As I approached the two frozen men I released the one and slammed him biotically into the wall, killing him instantly. The other one was powerless to help his ally, being forced to watch as I stepped away from the downed man and over to him, breaking the stasis only to plunge the kukri into his chest, piercing the plated armor with almost surprising ease.

"We're clear here Mitch." I swung the blade a few times to rid the blood that stained it before returning it to its sheath with a loud click. "Ready for the next room?"

"Yeah. This one should be a bit bigger but we've still got a little space before we'll hit the main room, that's when shit will most likely get real. I don't think they know we're here yet so try not to mess this up alright?"

"Come on Mitch, when am I not the model of discretion?"

"You're my friend, so to spare your feelings I won't answer that."

"Harsh but fair." I readied my M11. "Let's keep going though, I need something to get my mind off that very cutting insult."

He opened the door and a startled batarian was staring me right in the face. Before he could react I placed the M11 to his head and fired once, at point blank the kinetic shields didn't even register the shot. Unfortunately the three other terrorists in the room heard the suppressed shot.

I hit the closest one with a lift orb, effectively knocking him out of the fight for a few seconds and before I could even do anything to the farther two Mitch launched an attack from his omni-tool. "Just hit 'em with a sabotage so their electronics are down, comms are jammed and weapons are overheated so act quickly."

"Roger that."

As the extremists messed with their malfunctioning weapons I closed the distance to the closest enemy with a charge as once again Mitch eliminated another with a lone dart from his bow, leaving just a single terrorist. I'm kind of jealous of that little gadget to be honest. The remaining soldier I hit with a warp that caused him to fall to the ground in pain before I finished him off with a couple shots from my pistol at close range. I turned around to see Mitch aiming the bow at the floating batarian before he too was eliminated.

"Think that's it."

I put the pistol back on my hip and surveyed the room. "Yeah, they're all dead."

"There's no way we're getting through this next room without alerting the facility that we're here. Most likely they're going to have quite a few guys stationed in there." I pulled my Recon Hood up over my forehead and unwrapped a power bar while Mitch was talking. Got to replenish just in case, probably going to need to be at full strength for this. "Seriously, where do you get a power bar from?"

I pointed over my shoulder. "Compartment on the back." My speech was garbled from the food in my mouth and Mitch looked at me confusedly. "Sorry, I said compartment on the back." I threw the wrapper off to the side and quickly drank the nutrient drink that came with it. "Biotics tire a person out you know?"

"We've just started fighting…"

"So? I want to be well supplied with all the nutrients a person could need."

"I think you just forgot to eat before we left." I didn't answer for a few seconds. "I'll take your silence as a yes."

"You know, we really don't need to worry about the details right now. What we do need to focus on is how we're going to get to the hostage without getting detected and since only of us can turn invisible I think the solution is fairly obvious."

"Alright, I'll sneak up there and secure the hostage first thing. Can you handle yourself down here? Things go badly and you'll be solo against possibly almost ten batarians in close quarters, not much room to move."

"I'll be fine." I pulled the mask back over my head. "You just secure the damsel in distress."

"Alrighty then, good luck."

"You too Mitch, just let me know when you've secured the package and I'll start bringing the ruckus downstairs. Keep her in that room though and just do what you can with your sniper once we go loud. I'll alert you over the comms if anyone makes it to the stairwell."

"That works." He disappeared and I sat down behind a crate so I wouldn't be seen by anyone in the next room who just happened to glance at the possessed door that was opening seemingly for no good reason.

I sighed and leaned back against the boxes. "And now we wait."

About five minutes passed before the voice of Mitchell Woley began reverberating through the headset in my hood. "Hey, time for you to hold up your end of this little plan, VIP is secured. Took a bit longer than I expected, had to deal with a few rather unfriendly people but package is secure, so we're ready for the distracting to commence."

"Yes sir Service Chief Woley." Getting up off my ass I ran over to the door, not even bothering to open it like a normal human being, I instead hurled a throw that tore the door off its hinges. Listen, when I cause chaos I go full out.

One rather unfortunate batarian was standing directly in front of the entranceway and the result of that was getting smacked in the face with a flying metal object. Taking advantage of his misfortune I pulled out my shotgun and fired three quick blasts that finished him off. Our cover blown, by now the room was obviously on high alert. Deciding that it would be in my best interest to leave the vicinity I sprinted off to the left, around a large stack of crates. When I reached safety I turned around to see four armored SIU members standing over their comrade's corpse. Got out of there just in time.

I ducked back into cover before I could be seen. They obviously knew I was here now but I had two things working to my advantage. One, they didn't know where I was so hit and run tactics could be used to pick them off before retreating back to a hiding place since cover was almost everywhere. Two, I had an eye in the sky that could tell me exactly where every single one of them was located.

"Wow, I know I said distraction but that was a bit much."

"I'm all about making an entrance." I looked out to the other side and out of the corner of my eye I could just see Mitch upstairs in the shadows, the glint of his sniper rifle scope the only thing noticeable. "Where do I go now?"

"You've got two coming from the side you burst in on. Wait about three seconds and they'll be in sight coming around the corner."

I waited for a shotgun to appear around the corner and then I attacked. Before he could fire I shoved the barrel of his weapon up, causing the blast to miss high before I closed the gap, placed my own weapon to his chin and fired once which sprayed matter everywhere. The second one recoiled a bit at the violence and before he could do anything I hit him with a biotic attack that caused him to stagger forward. In one move I pulled out the knife on my shoulder and swung the blade in a downward arc that pierced his head.

"Two down. Where do I go?"

"You've got one coming quick from your left."

As I turned a biotic attack flew towards me and I rolled to the left before I could even think. Luckily it missed catching me right in the chest, unfortunately it still tore across my arm. "Fucking hell!" I swore loudly as the rapidly-shifting warp tore at my appendage, making if feel like my entire limb was on fire even though it just barely scratched the outer edge. Dropping my shotgun, since I couldn't really fire one-handed without putting my shoulder out of socket, I mustered a warp of my own that eliminated the barriers of my opponent and then followed it up by firing with my pistol until the weapon overheated.

"Shit." I cursed my own mental lapse as I walked over to confirm my kill, letting my barrier lapse like that was some novice shit. The plating on my left arm was now extremely deformed and through it I could see the wound. Before I spread the medi-gel I took in the sight of the skin which looked like it had been flayed by a fine knife and the entire area had turned a bright red. "Where do I go Mitch?" I winced as the medical ointment hit the affected area before it turned to a sigh of relief as the painkillers set in.

"Duck."

Listening to his advice, I flattened myself to the ground a split-second before a sniper rifle fired from the upper portions of the room. Rolling over, I saw a batarian flat on his back with a sizable hole through the center of his helmet. "Thanks Mitch." That was too damn close. With that out of the way, I picked my N7 Piranha back up and prepared to keep fighting.

"No problem but you need to get up now. Wait for my go and run straight ahead. You've got two left down there, I can't get a shot on either of them but if you go straight, right and then left you'll be able to single out one of them I think."

"Just tell me when."

I pulled the close-range weapon from my back and readied myself. "Go." Alright, go straight. A large explosion rocked from just behind me, thank you Mitch. Go right. I could hear a batarian shouting angrily that the grenade has missed and I was gone. Now left. I whirled the corner and was about six feet from the soldier Mitch had mentioned.

Taking advantage of my shotgun's full auto capabilities, I depressed the trigger and held it down until the thing overheated. The terrorist was left a gurgling, writhing mess as the pellets had hit him in the chest and legs but didn't kill him. Before the one soldier remaining could get there I switched to my side arm and put the man out of his misery.

After that I took off, running again at Mitch's advice and hid in a large stack of crates to catch my breath. Just one left and then we're home free. My musings were interrupted by a harsh, angry voice. "Human! I've had enough of this game. I have a grenade primed here and with a single flick of the wrist I'll toss this upstairs and eliminate the ambassador if you don't step out now."

"Yeah fuck that! You're just going to shoot me as soon as I step out."

I heard a clattering of weapons hit the floor. "What you just heard was the sound of my weapons hitting the floor, the only device on my person is the grenade I mentioned." I was just about to tell Mitch to move to a position where he could shoot the bastard in the face but I was stopped dead in my tracks. "Also, if I see your tiny sniper friend-"

"I'm not fucking tiny! What is it with you damn batarians calling me short?"

"As I was saying, if I see your partner then the grenade goes upstairs and both your sniper and political figure will die in the blast."

"You can just leave right now!" I yelled in an effort to peacefully resolve things. Yeah that sounds weird for me but this guy actually seemed reasonable, for a batarian at least, so I figured I'd give it a shot. "We're the only two here and we won't stop you. My only order is to retrieve the ambassador and I will complete my objective by any means necessary whether that means wiping you out or not. I've got no specific orders to deal with you, today at least so make the smart decision here. Leave now."

"I'm sorry human but that isn't going to happen, your Marines have surely circled the building by now and I will not live the rest of my life in captivity. I have no illusions that I'm going to walk out of here alive but if I must join my ancestors in the afterlife then I'll do it in single combat with a worthy opponent. No guns, just biotics and hand-to-hand."

"If that's the way you want it." I started to get rid of my weapons, seeing no other way to complete my objective. "Mitch, I'm tossing my guns up to you. Catch 'em and then get out of sight with the princess. Have the cavalry on standby if he gets the better of me."

"You sure about this Wolf?"

"Nah, not really but I don't see another option so I'm going to have to try."

I biotically hoisted the four firearms, along with my knives up over the balcony and then stepped out into the open center of the facility. A split second later I was joined by a tall, well-built batarian completely encased in armor. He took off his helmet and set it off to the side, revealing the visage of a scarred, battle-weary warrior who'd obviously fought in many skirmishes and came out the victor.

Paying respect to his gesture in kind, I took off my hood and revealed my own face. "Whenever you're ready."

"Before we start, I would seek to know the name of the human who killed my men."

"Nathaniel Wolfert."

He gave a little sound as if he was thinking something over. "So you're the one my people call, 'The Demon of Torfan?'"

"Butcher's my usual handle actually, Demon's a new one." I stated while making a curious face, having a casual chat before you fought someone to the death was something new for me. Especially considering my previous encounters with his species. "And you are?"

"Darem Pegcaros, Lieutenant in the Batarian Special Forces and forgive me, that particular hellish title is one my own people have given you." He heaved a contented sigh. "I wouldn't mind having my last battle be against such a foe."

"You're all set to begin?"

He bared his needle-like teeth in what I later learned was the batarian equivalent of a smirk. "You humans truly are an impatient race aren't you? But yes, to answer your question, I am prepared. Make the first move when you're ready." Deciding to give an early test to his defense I threw a highly-concentrated warp that connected with his barrier but had no visible effect. "Not bad."

A smile crossed his face again before the SIU member threw a singularity that I rolled away from in an attempt to avoid the gravitational pull. The man was a stronger biotic than most since I could still feel the attack pulling me in swiftly. Think you idiot. As I felt my feet leaving the ground I twisted around and threw a warp that hit the miniature black-hole like object, detonating it immediately. The result of which caused me to fly backwards, skidding a few feet along the hard surface.

I could hear a warp coming my way and I instinctively flattened while creating a barrier. The defense worked in that I didn't get burned again but now I had only my shield to rely on for a little while, leaving me utterly defenseless against any biotic attack he wanted to throw at me.

Rolling over, I saw that the batarian was grinning once again. "That was quick thinking on your part Demon, can't say that I've ever seen someone have the idea of detonating my attack before they get sucked in."

I pushed myself up off the floor and panted heavily for a couple seconds before grinning. "I've always been told that my style is rather unorthodox."

Darem spoke once again. "Good. That makes things interesting."

He threw an attack that I rolled to the right of before running towards my opponent and pushing forward a throw orb that he simply deflected with a barrier that he projected from one of his hands, almost like my Bio-Cade but on a much smaller scale. Sprinting, I closed into hand-to-hand range before either of us could throw another biotic attack.

At least that's what I thought. Before I could throw a punch, the grizzled veteran caught me with a miniscule pull orb that caused me to stumble forward right into his oncoming fist. I lay flat on my back for a split second with the air knocked out of me before I felt a strong hand grab my neck and hoist me airborne. With his free hand he threw half a dozen punches into my face before I brought my legs up off the ground and pushed against him while also using biotics to increase my mass.

The combination of those two made the batarian drop me to the floor and I quickly rolled over to avoid a biotically-infused curbstomp that was directed towards my head. Getting back on my feet, I locked eyes again with the Special Forces member and spat up the blood that had accumulated in my mouth before checking to make sure all my teeth were still in place. Yup, no gaps so at least I've still got an award-winning smile.

"As much fun as this has been Demon, I'm going to have to end it now." He twisted his head to the side and started to wreath himself in a biotic aura. Recognizing the tactic from back on Torfan, I waited for the right moment to strike.

As he started his biotic charge I threw up a Bio-Cade right in front of me. The batarian collided headfirst with the object and dazed from the blow he staggered backwards. Taking advantage of the situation, I threw a lift orb that caught him square in the chest before throwing a warp to detonate it. The armored alien flew backwards into the wall and with a resounding crack, impacted before sliding down onto the ground.

I made my way over and he glanced up, chuckling again despite the fact that he was bleeding openly from head wounds. He coughed loudly and gestured me over. "Thank you for the fight Demon. I did not think that one of your species would have the honor to fight me in single combat, let alone best me." A spasm racked his body and he grimaced in pain. "I can say first-hand that your skill has earned the hatred and fear my people have for you."

Crouching down, I took a seat next to the dying batarian. "That was a hell of a fight Pegcaros." I leaned to the side and spit out some more red liquid that had pooled in my mouth. "You definitely caught me with a few good ones in there. Think you probably broke my nose too with those shots you hit me with."

He started to cough again and leaned back against the wall. As strange as it might sound I actually was feeling kinda bad for the alien right now. Seemed like a decent guy who was doing his job just like me, brutal as it was. The only difference was that his side was the wrong one. I chuckled to myself at the thought, he probably would have said the same thing about me if our roles were reversed.

I sighed and stood up, that's some shit to figure out another time. Looking at Darem I could see that he was in intense pain even if he tried to hide it due to his own pride. Brandishing my omni-blade, I lowered myself once again to where we were at eye level, my two and his four. "I can end this right now if you want. Just one stab and no more pain, it's all over."

"You would do that?" I nodded. "Then go ahead Butcher of Torfan, add one more to your kill count."

Giving a sorry smile, I grasped his hand. "It was a good fight, your ancestors would be proud." No longer having the strength to respond, he merely nodded and I plunged in the orange blade. The knife pierced straight through the armor and into his heart, killing him in a split-second.

I turned around to see Mitch standing there, having observed the whole thing and giving a worried look at my injuries. "You alright buddy?"

"Yeah, I'm good. Just roughed up a bit." I gave a sharp inhalation as my arm reminded me of the warp that had torn across it just a few minutes ago. "Where's the chick?"

The ambassador, definitely not a chick and instead a woman I guessed to be in her early forties stepped out from behind the wall, immediately addressing me in a snooty tone that set me off instantly. "Where is my shuttle out of here?" She looked at the dead batarian. "You should have left him to suffer, that filth kidnapped me in broad daylight from my home planet after knocking out my guards."

I whirled on her with a savage look as Mitch gave me back my weapons and I pulled my Recon Hood back over my head. "How about you shut your mouth unless you actually have an idea what the fuck you're talking about ambassador ma'am?"

Her face turned into one of shock at my precision F-strike. "First off, you seem to be in fine shape so it's not like they starved and abused you. Secondly, you just said, 'knock out,' as in not kill, so they obviously didn't do any permanent harm to civilians. Third, unless you've been shot, stabbed or hit with a biotic attack that makes you feel like your entire arm is ablaze," I pointed to my shoulder, eye and then arm for emphasis as I mentioned the three scenarios, "you can leave the decisions about who suffers to me and me alone understand?"

She started to talk and I raised my hand. "I'm not done! Fourth, that, 'filth,' you mentioned just showed me more bravery and determination than you'll probably ever have."

"Are you quite done?" She just stared at me with murder in her eyes.

"No I'm not!" I yelled once again. "Fifth…a simple, 'thank you for saving me,' would've been nice."

Mitch just stood off to the side, trying not to laugh at my tirade which didn't help matters much when the lady turned to see him chuckling. "What are your names?" She declared in a screeching manner. "I have important friends and I can make sure that you two are-"

I put her into stasis just a split-second before the sound of rushing feet could be heard. A loud voice yelling, "Clear!" announced the entrance of the Marines. They quickly set up a perimeter around the three of us and the soldier I had talked to on the flight in addressed Mitch and I with a salute. "Service Chiefs Woley and Wolfert, I have orders from Captain Anderson to take the ambassador off your hands."

"Perfect." I let the woman out of the biotic field she had been trapped in and heaved a huge sigh of relief. "Have fun with that bundle of joy."

He gave another salute before they dragged the woman out of the facility, practically shaking with fury at my mistreatment of her. "You just make new friends everywhere you go don't you Wolf?"

"Until the galaxy runs out of people, yes." I threw my non-injured arm over Mitch's shoulder, exhausted from my short but brutal fight. "Let's fucking get out of here chief."

A/N: Good news ladies and gents, the prologue for WiSC is now officially done after 50 chapters of writing *heaves giant sigh*

My plan, at least for now, is to post the pre-ME1 stuff as one book and start a new one as soon as the Shepard interaction begins. So chapter 50 will be the last story post in this book, again as of right now, so once that's done I'll have a bit of a break between the two, post a new chapter at the end saying that WiSC 2 is up and that will be the start of a brand new era.

Also, in anime news, I have finished Psycho Pass, really enjoyed it by the way and now I'm starting Samurai Champloo. If anybody's watched it, please tell me if Mugen and Jin reminded you of Wolf and Mitch at all because that immediately struck me. Obviously it's not exact but I see a ton of similarities although I've only watched the first episode so I could be completely off-base on that.

Ranger Station Charlie is still my Beta for some odd reason, haven't scared him off yet.

Review answering portion:

Dickson: Welp, looks like there's not a match made in heaven there, lol.

Guest: Thanks for the clarification, I knew doctors made quite a bit of cash but I wasn't quite sure how much so that's actually good to know.

RSC(Uno): Yeah, if Wolf was able to use biotics it would have been a different story but I think a lot of people forget that Infiltrators, at least in game, are long-range specialists along with being able to actually deal out some severe melee damage as well so that's why the fight was so close. Although Wolf hasn't seen Mitch fight in hand-to-hand for a while while Woley's had the chance to study his form, I think if they went again while Nate sorta knew what to expect it'd be a lot different.

Apocalyptos: Thanks man! I definitely feel like my work's improving with time but it's always good to hear from other people.

One of the things I really wanted to focus on when I started was not making Wolf a Mary-Sue in general, that means both in combat and social situations. He's gonna fuck up quite a bit and be in the wrong sometimes, especially due to his brashness and he'll need to be bailed out in fights too.

Fallout Fan: Wolf definitely relies on Mitch and Emma to help him out mentally quite a bit and having the two of them around really helps him to be able to sort of get away from the hell that is combat.

Well, you'll see in just about thirteen chapters the particular circumstances of Wolf's Normandy recruitment ;)

In story it hasn't been stated yet but the reason Speirs keeps getting assigned to Wolf is basically because most of the brass considers him a loose cannon, a useful one in the end but since nobody really wants to deal with his unprofessionalism Speirs kind of draws the short straw there since they already have a history.

And thanks for the recommendation! I'm about eight or so chapters in and I'm really enjoying it so far.

C11 Guest: Hahaha, you can't fault me for trying right? You'll just have to wait and see what happens next book, lol. I will say there's definitely going to be some switch-ups from the canon happenings practically right off the bat.

RSC(Dos): Dude, you're absolutely coming through with the song parody once again. Solid, solid work.
