okay. So finally. This is this end. I know my version is definitely no where near Riordan's. (because let's face it, mine is too off track :P) But I hope this has given you some satisfaction, that was all I aimed for. Thank you for reading. The Epilogue is quite open to interpretation, though.
Epilogue:
"Nico!", he heard a female voice call.
He turned to find Jane jogging up to him with a grin on her face. Nico automatically decided it couldn't be anything good.
"Is Percy gonna be here soon?", she asked, twirling her dark hair around her index finger as she batted her eyes suggestively.
"Go away, Jane", Nico said, rolling his eyes, trying to keep the smile off his face.
"You don't want me to go away", she told him, walking in pace with him and banging her hip against his. "Do you have anything special planned tonight?"
Nico contemplated telling her everything. Over the year, Jane had become a very close friend.
Their friendship had started off very strangely though. When Nico, Percy, Leo and Piper had returned to Camp Halfblood, they were surprised to find many new demigods. Jane had been one of them.
Percy had decided to be a camp counsellor and he was somewhat of a hero. People fawned over him, even though he treated everyone equally and laughed and joked with all of them.
People had straightaway noticed that Nico was very close to Percy but at first, nobody realized that he was actually his boyfriend. So one evening while they sat around the campfire laughing at something Percy said and in awe of something new Leo had designed, Jane asked Nico if he could set her up with Percy.
Nico almost spat out his blueberry smoothie.
She had apologized a hundred times after that, of course and they had become close friends soon afterwards. She was especially helpful in cheering Nico up whenever Percy travelled to Camp Jupiter or to visit Annabeth wherever she was. Sometimes Nico went with him but he didn't prefer travelling.
"Oh come on, Neeks", Jane said grabbing his arm. He hated it when she called him that.
"Well, yeah, he's coming here", Nico gave up, hoping she'd be satisfied with that.
He should've known better.
"Oh, gods, Nico Di Angelo", she said shaking her head exasperatedly as they stopped in front of the lake. "Do something to spice up my boring life, please"
Nico rolled his eyes. Jane was a drama queen.
"So the others are coming over and we're all going out for dinner", Nico told her and watched her as she jumped and squealed.
"Oh my god, that's huge!", she exclaimed, "I can't wait to see Percy!"
Nico rolled his eyes, "It's not that huge. And stop hitting on my boyfriend"
"Well, he is gorgeous", Jane replied winking. When Nico didn't say anything she laughed. "Don't pout, you big baby, you're not that bad either."
When he refused to answer, she grabbed his hand and jumped into the lake.
Water went into his mouth and he tried to remember whatever Percy had taught him shout swimming but all he could remember was to kick his legs.
His face surfaced and he gasped for air. His eye caught on a figure standing at the shore.
Percy.
He looked amused.
"Oh, Percy", Nico gasped spitting out water. Not exactly the kind of meeting he had in mind.
The water twirled around him and threw him onto the shore. Jane sat on the shore squeezing the water out of her hair, eyeing Percy.
"You should get rid of that", Percy told him, gesturing towards his wet tshirt.
"That's what you'd want", Nico teased. Percy smirked suggestively.
"I don't know though", Percy sighed, "You're jumping into the lake with pretty girls while I'm not here"
Jane looked like she was going to faint.
"Hey, that's not true", Nico said seriously, pulling Percy by his tshirt and giving him long kiss. Even after a year, his heart still fluttered like a hummingbird everytime Percy's lips touched him.
"You two should get a room", Jane told them rolling her eyes.
"Might be we will", Percy said winking.
"Hey, no", Nico said, pushing him away. "Don't we have somewhere to be?"
Percy ran a hand through his dark curly hair. They had grown long and unruly. "Yeah, we do", he admitted. Shoving Nico towards the cabins, he said, "Go change. We gotta leave as soon as possible"
An hour later, Nico was being subjected to Rachel Elizabeth Dare's scrutiny.
"Nico Di Angelo, your hair.", she exclaimed.
"What, what about it?", asked Nico nervously. He hated all this.
"Looks nice", she said grinning.
He was wearing a dark purple shirt with black jeans. He was extremely conscious. He didn't like wearing formal clothing and he suspected the others didn't either but Calypso had insisted and there was no arguing with her.
Just then, Percy seemed to materialize. He wore a white shirt and dark blue jeans. He looked way more comfortable than Nico ever did. He put an arm around Nico's waist and Nico's stomach dropped.
"Look at you two', Rachel said with a smile, "You two could be models"
Before they could reply Jane had found them and was jogging towards them.
"Nico you look passable", she said, giving him a hug. Rachel laughed.
"I think it's time to go", Percy told them. "Where are Leo and Piper?"
"Leo went over yesterday", Nico told him. "To help with stuff. Or so he said"
"Right. I totally believe that", Percy said with a smile.
Before Percy could enquire about Piper again, they heard whistling from behind them. They turned to find Piper walking carefully towards them.
She was dressed in a simple white halter dress but she looked absolutely stunning. Her chocolate brown hair had grown longer and they hung straight but uneven still, her kaleidoscopic eyes changing colour in the evening light. Even Nico, who had no interest in girls whatsoever, couldn't take his eyes off her.
"Calypso said formal so...", she trailed off, blushing.
"Don't worry, you look better that Aphrodite herself", Percy said out loud then added, "Sorry, Aphrodite". Jane and Rachel laughed.
Together, Percy, Nico and Piper walked down the beach towards Calypso's house.
After the war, she had been offered a house near camp Halfblood but she insisted on having one on the beach to remind her of Ogygia. And so it was done.
Today, they were all supposed to meet for dinner. Jason, Frank and Hazel were coming from Camp Jupiter, Annabeth from wherever she was (Was it Kansas?) and Percy, Nico, Leo and Piper from camp Halfblood.
They reached the beautiful beach house, which was mostly built by Leo, and heard Calypso shouting. "No, Festus no, we have people over. You have to behave yourself"
Calypso stood bare feet, her hair blowing in the wind. Festus was rolling around on the beach and she was trying to get him to straighten up. To no avail.
"He says the sand is good for his skin", said a voice from the balcony. They looked up to see Leo grinning his crazy smile but his smile vanished as Calypso shouted at him. "LEO VALDEZ GET YOUR DRAGON TO STRAIGHTEN UP AND EAT HIS SUPPER"
They entered the lively house to find that they weren't as early as they thought they were.
"Piper!", Jason exclaimed as Piper lunged at him and kissed him. "You look bloody gorgeous", he said, a little breathless.
Nico was enveloped in warm hug. "How've you been, Nico?", Hazel asked, ruffling his hair.
Percy and Frank hugged and Percy looked like the air had been squeezed out of him. "You're getting stronger, buddy", Percy half squeaked.
"I'm hungry", Leo complained as Piper hugged him.
"You have to wait until everyone arrives", Calypso told him as she set the table.
"I hope I haven't kept you all starving", came a voice from behind them.
Annabeth stood at the door in a silver dress that left her shoulders bare. A silver star tattoo glittered on her left shoulder. Her blonde hair fell in lazy curls, her eyes almost the same colour as her dress. She was smiling at them.
"You look", Piper started but Nico finished, "Mesmerizing"
She laughed and the other joined in. She hugged Percy, who listed her off her feet and she squealed. When he out her down, she proceeded to hug Nico.
"How've you been?", she asked into his ear. She smelled like marshmallows. "Good", he replied. "What about you?"
She pulled back to look at him with her shining grey eyes a smile tugging the corners of her mouth, "Never better"
