Halina sat in the spot where Aki had knocked her over looking down in shame. She felt shame for actually going off with that girl, letting her get the better of her by taking her phone and smashing it and not backing it up like her sister had told her to. Plus she lost the evidence that proved the Tigers had been cheating with Aki and Chise's uncle. Oh how could she had been so stupid? What were the others going to say when they found out about this? Or the girls in the actual troop? What if they all just decided to quit the troop after this?
Halina sat where she sulking in her own stupidity that even when she heard the bell for the first period bell ringing. She didn't bother going to class. What was the point if she'd just have to face her friends and admit to her own failure.
"Hey, where's Halina?" Kaoru whispered over to Haruhi as the bell rang and Halina hadn't arrived.
"I don't know," Haruhi whispered back, "I don't recall seeing her before school."
"Is she sick?" asked Natalie.
"Iris has some classes with her older sister. Maybe she can ask her," said Ruki pulling out her phone and texting.
"Can't you wait on that?" asked Haruhi.
"Why would I want to do that? asked Ruki.
"If you get in trouble don't say we didn't warn you," said Natalie.
Iris was starting to take some notes when she felt her phone buzzing. She looked around to make sure no one was looking and pulled it out to see it was a text from Ruki telling her to ask Halina's sister if she was sick.
'Oh god,' Iris thought with a sneer. How she loathed having to talk to the girl, even before she and Halina join the same club.
"Psst," she whispered over Akahele next to her.
"What?" asked Akahele, "I don't know about you but I like to do well in school."
"I was just asking if Halina was sick today," said Iris.
"Oh of course she's not. Of course given everything she does it's a surprise she's in good health," said Akahele.
"Why do you always criticize her every chance you get?" asked Iris.
"Because she's utterly hopeless and it's painful to watch as her sister," said Akahele, "Now shush. My ears are sensitive and can't hear anything else when stupid people are talking into it."
"Sorry," said Iris. "My throat gets sore when I have to talk to snobs," she added under her breath as she texted Ruki back.
"Iris says Halina's not sick," Ruki whispered to her friends.
"Then where is she?" asked Kaoru.
"Uh excuse me," said Ruki raising her hand.
"Yes Miss Shario?" said the teacher.
"Uh I hate to be rude but Miss Kapule isn't here yet and she's suppose to be here," said Ruki.
"So I see," said the teacher looking over the roster.
"Would it be alright if I were to go find her?" asked Ruki.
"I suppose," said the teacher, "But take someone else with you please."
"I'll go with her," said Kaoru raising his hand quickly.
"What, Kaoru, what are you doing?" asked Hikaru.
"Just let him come," said Ruki.
"Was I talking to you?" asked Hikaru. Ruki took a deep mad breath.
"Miss Shario, Mr. Hitachiin knock it off," said the teacher, "Either she and your brother go or I'll send two others."
"Don't worry we're going," said Ruki grabbing Kaoru's arm and yanking him out of the classroom.
"Why were you anxious to come look for Halina?" Ruki asked as they headed down the hallway.
"I just wanted to make sure she's okay," said Kaoru.
"Oh god come on!" said Ruki.
"What?" asked Kaoru.
"Just come out and admit it. You like her," said Ruki annoyed.
"Well I guess," said Kaoru. He was startled by Ruki suddenly punching him in the arm. "Owe, what was that for?!"
"You need to come out and just admit you like her! I guarantee it'll make yours and Halina's lives much better in the long run!"
"Well we should probably go and find her first," said Kaoru.
"Good point," said Ruki. The two search through the different libraries, student lounges, the nurses office and even their own club room.
"I'm starting to think she's not in the building at all," said Kaoru as they left the club room.
"Should we go check outside in the gardens or something?" asked Ruki.
"I guess we better," said Kaoru. The two hurried out and stated looking around.
"Halina, Halina," Halina heard someone calling out for her. She could recognize the voices but she didn't want to draw attention to herself.
'Just let them go away, just go away and leave me alone,' she pleaded in her mind as the voices came closer, 'I don't want anyone to see me!'
"Hey, I found something," said Kaoru as he noticed the damaged phone next to a rock.
"Is it Halina's?" asked Ruki.
"It could be," said Kaoru, "Think she got hurt or worse?"
"Like what?" asked Ruki.
"I don't know," said Kaoru sheepishly.
"You're not scared she got kidnapped or something are you?" asked Ruki.
"You're talking nonsence I'm sure she's fine," said Kaoru.
"But if she was wouldn't you risk life and limb to save her?" asked Ruki. Halina looked up a bit eagerly at that comment.
"Well I suppose," said Kaoru.
"Oh you are pathetic," said Ruki looking around.
"I just don't like being put on the spot like that!" said Kaoru, "Bu I would do anything I could do anything I could to help her if something did happen to her."
"Even make the money drop?" asked Ruki.
"Uh I suppose if it got her back safely," said Kaoru.
"And if you got a chance to fight the kidnapper to get her back?" asked Ruki.
"Yes," muttered Kaoru.
"Really?" they heard a soft voice coming from some bushes.
Halina clasped her hand over her mouth.
'Shit!' she cursed in her mind.
"Halina?" said Kaoru walking towards the bushes.
He poked in his head around and saw her kneeling on the ground looking afraid.
"What are you doing out here?" he asked in alarm, "Are you okay?"
"Halina here you are!" said Ruki coming up next to Kaoru, "What happened to you?"
"I," Halina looked away in shame.
"What happened to your phone?" asked Ruki.
"I uh well um I," Halina sputtered. She felt a gentle hand on her shoulder and saw Kaour was now kneeling next to her smiling.
"Ruki can you give us some privacy?" he asked.
"Hmm, I suppose but don't take too long," said Ruki walking off.
"So I take it whatever happened it's hard to talk about?" said Kaoru as he sat next to her.
"I did something totally stupid even though I was warned about it!" said Halina.
"Does it have anything to do with what happened to your phone over there?" asked Kaoru. At that Halina started to cry.
"I had hard-core evidence that proved Hachi Shousei was helping his niece cheat on selling cheesecakes. But he must have told Aki because she confronted me and smashed my phone that had the evidence to prove it! And what's worse is that my sister warn me to back to all up just in case but I didn't do it because I didn't think it was necessarily!" said Halina in between tears.
She was slightly surprised when Kaoru pulled her close and hugged her. He even made sure to stroke your hair.
"It's not your fault fully. In most circumstances I wouldn't have back something like that up. If anything it's that stupid Aki bitch's fault for noting being able to admit to she did wrong and do her best to cover herself," he said.
"But my sister's going to be on my case about this!" said Halina
"Oh don't let her get to you like that," said Kaoru, "It's not like she's out doing what you're doing. Also would she have figured out to do something like getting evidence to bag those losers?"
"She claims she would," said Halina, "But I also let down my friends and the girls in the troop. Plus this might make the girls want to quit."
"I don't think that's going to happen," said Kaoru, "And something tells me the girls are going to be more made at the Aki bitch than you for what happened. Real friends would I think."
"Well," said Halina.
"He's right," said Ruki coming back into view.
"Hey I thought I asked you to leave us alone for a bit!" said Kaoru.
"I did but that didn't mean I couldn't eavesdrop a little on the conversation," said Ruki, "And just so you know Halina I'm not mad at you for this. If anything this makes me hate Aki now all of a sudden. And I'm sure that others are going to feel the same way."
"But I lost the proof," said Halina.
"Well not exactly," said Ruki holding up Halina broken phone, "I'd like for Aki to explain this. Come back to class. We'll talk to the girls at lunch that way we can talk to Iris too."
"Well okay," said Halina. She started to stand up but Kaoru beat her to it and helped her to stand.
"Madam?" he said with a smile.
"Thank you," said Halina blushing and taking his hand.
"Ahem," said Ruki clearing her throat.
"Not now okay?" Kaoru whispered.
"What?" asked Halina.
"Nothing, at least not now," said Kaoru.
"You are so pathetic you know that?" said Ruki, "And Halina, let me tell everyone what happened okay to help make it easier for you okay?"
"Thank you," said Halina.
"Hey where's Iris?" asked Misaki at lunch as the hostesses all gathered outside.
"She's coming and we'll get her caught up when she gets here," said Ruki.
"Well what's going on?" asked Haruhi.
"We are now at war with Aki!" said Ruki. She went and told the three other girls what had happened to Halina.
"Oh Halina!" said Misaki, "That's terrible!"
"Does that mean all the evidence is gone too?" asked Natalie.
"Well the hard-core evidence is but we have some other kind with Halina's damaged phone," sad Ruki "It's not much but it'd be interesting to see what Aki has to say about it."
"Hey what's going on?" Iris asked as she came upon the group.
"This better be good," said Halina sister Akahele walking up behind her.
"Why is she here?" asked Natalie.
"Well this does concern my sister true?" aid Akahele.
"Oh no!" said Halina, "Well long story short you were right, I should have back up my info. That man's niece smashed my phone.
"Oh my god," said Akahele, "You are so pathetic." She held up her own phone and hit a button. Immediately the conversation with Mr. Shousei started to play.
"How did you get that?" asked Haruhi.
"I sent both the recording and the photo to my phone just in case my stupid sister didn't take my advice. She's too trustworthy. It's pathetic really," said Akahele. She was caught off guard by a fist suddenly punching her across the face.
"You're pathetic you know that!" shouted Iris, "I don't care if you are Halina's sister I'm not going to let you insult her like that anymore!"
"Oh really?" said Akahele, "If you think I'm so pathetic why should I give you the phone?"
"Just hand it over!" said Natalie getting in Akahele's face.
"Uh fine, if it means I don't have to look at your ugly face," said Akahele handing it to her.
"Hmm I was going to say the same thing to you," said Natalie.
"Oh that's original," said Akahele.
"Let's just go find Aki and talk about this!" said Ruki.
"Good idea," said Hauhi.
The hostesses and Akahele all headed off looking for her. They found her walking around by herself.
"Hey!" said Natalie running over to her, "What is your deal?!"
"What?" asked Aki.
"You picking on Halina like you did just to hide your own miss deeds," said Natalie.
"You mean your miss deeds with you ladies accusing me, my uncle and my cousin of cheating. Plus that whole bullshit that you had proof! You're the ones at fault with this!" Aki snapped back.
"Oh yeah?" said Misaki playing the conversation with their uncle. The minute it started to play Aki's face dropped in surprise.
"That, that can't be my uncle!" she said.
"Oh it is trust us!" said Natalie.
"But, but no, my cousin wouldn't cheat!" Aki insisted, "Oh no!"
"What?" asked Haruhi.
"I had, I had left Chise along at my uncle company real fast to go help another member of our group whose partner had to go home sick. I thought she'd be okay since she was at family company and I showed her what she needed to before I left. I don't, I mean oh god!"
"Uh what does this all mean exactly?" asked Natalie.
"It means Aki's actual a somewhat innocent in all of this," said Misaki.
