Sawyer knocks, then opens the door to push the trolley in. Ana calls to him.

"Sawyer, I'm so sorry! We've been so distracted, you need to order dinner!"

He looks at her fondly, before he clears his throat and answers.

"I appreciate your concern, but that won't be necessary, ma'am. Ryan will be here momentarily to relieve me. I'm to go home this evening and return in the morning. Good night, Mrs. Grey, Mr. Grey."

He looks over at me and I nod his dismissal as he closes the door. Taylor tries to rotate the staff to allow them time at home. Usually Sawyer refuses to take 12 hours off, but Taylor obviously won this round.

I look over at Ana. She is looking at me expectantly, and she's so beautiful. She also has some color in her cheeks and a little sparkle in her eyes, which is great to see.

"Well, Mrs. Grey, where would you like to eat? In the bed, at the table or in the big chair?"

She smiles at me.

"I'm going to sit in the chair. I don't think I'm up to sitting at the table yet. Maybe for breakfast, if that's Ok?"

"That's fine. I was wondering whether sitting at the table was a little much, so the recliner is a good compromise."

"AND, I'm going to WALK the three steps over there!"

Ana gives me a determined look as she throws the covers aside and swings her bare feet out of the bed. Before she can stand I speak up.

"Stop! Don't move another inch Mrs. Grey! You're feet are bare!"

She stops and gapes at me.

"Jeez, Christian. You just about gave me a heart attack! So, my feet are bare! Not a big deal!"

She rolls her eyes, but doesn't move. I go to her case and pull out a pair of fluffy socks, holding them out as I walk over to her and kneel down to pull the socks on and notice her feet are icy cold.

"Your feet are really cold! I'm surprised you haven't wanted socks on earlier."

She's looking down at me amused, then leans forward to ruffle my hair.

"Yes, they have been a little cold, but I really didn't notice. They've been kind of tingly too."

She frowns as she mentions this, but she quickly brightens. "Ok, Mr. Grey? May I get up now, Sir?"

"Do you want your robe? Is the rest of you cold?"

Ana looks at me, a small crease on her forehead as she considers my suggestion, but just shakes her head.

"No, I'm Ok. Maybe just a blanket over my lap."

I straighten up and wait for her to stand, placing my hand on her upper arm. She stands up, but immediately scowls, looking down at her feet.

"What's wrong?"

Ana stands on one foot, then the other, still gazing down at them. I hold her arm worried she's going to lose her balance doing that.

"I don't know. Maybe I've just been off them for too long. It sorta hurts to stand on them, like needles sticking in the bottom of my feet."

She's still frowning, but walks over to the recliner and sits down. I grab the pillow off the bed and position it behind her, then watch as she settles back onto it. There's a blanket at the foot of the bed which I place it on her lap, tucking the sides around her.

"How's that?" I ask worried.

Ana smiles up at me.

"That's great! Thank you."

I lean down, placing my hands on the armrests and stare into her face.

"You are so beautiful. I'm so happy you are feeling better!"

I kiss her gently on the lips. In a few days I'll have to refrain until her counts are back up, but I'm going to take advantage of being able to kiss her while I can.

"So are you, inside and out. I love you so much!"

Ana caresses my face. I straighten up and move the few items off her over-the-bed table to the bedside table, before positioning it in front of Ana, who watches me as I do this.

"There's a lever on the side that opens another leaf so it's bigger. Wanda showed me. We're probably going to need the extra space."

I start looking and find the lever Ana's referring to. I push it and another table surface of identical size comes out from below. Once it's all the way out, I feel it lock in place. Now it looks like a small card table. Ana's beaming with pleasure as she examines it.

"Perfect! Thank you!"

I can't help but smile at her. I'm delighted she's doing Ok right now! I just hope she'll eat! I go to the trolley and begin to lift covers wanting to find the smaller of the 2 steaks. I quickly switch potatoes, placing the larger one with the larger steak. Too much food on the plate and she panics, thinking she's expected to eat it all. Telling her that is not the case doesn't really work, because it's all about her perception.

I carry the 2 plates to the table, setting the smaller portions in front of her. I try to build up her anticipation.

"This looks really good, doesn't it?"

Ana doesn't reply, but nods in agreement. I get silverware, napkins, salt, pepper and steak sauce moved over.

"Before I sit, what do you want to drink? I'm just going to have water, but I ordered you milk in case you wanted that instead."

Ana is spreading the napkin in her lap as she continues to examine the food.

"Milk if fine, thanks."

I get the drinks before I grab a chair and sit. I lay the napkin in my lap and pick up my silverware. Ana's staring at her food, biting her lip.

"Dig in."

I slice through the steak and taste it. Not bad, not top steakhouse quality, but decent. Ana hasn't moved. She looks up at me and I see panic in her eyes. Shit. She HAS to eat, there are no two ways about it, but I know that look! She's done so well all day, I guess I should have guessed at some point she would have a meltdown, but it would be over food! Shit. What to do?

I look into Ana's eyes and try to calm her fears.

"It's Ok, baby. Really. I know there's a lot of food there, just eat what you can. I don't expect you to eat it all."

I'm looking at her trying to gauge whether she's taken my words to heart. Please, please, Ana! Not now, Ana!

"It's been such a good day and you've done so well, Ana. Don't let a plate of food spoil it for you! OK? Just enjoy your meal and eat what you can. That's all I expect. Promise."

She brushes tears from her eyes, and sniffs, as she nods.

"OK."

She gives me a shy smile as she picks up her silverware and cuts into the steak. I keep eating, but am aware of her tasting the steak. She cuts into her potato and starts to add butter and sour cream. I sense Ana beginning to relax and we eat in silence for a bit.

I venture to ask her after a few minutes. "Good?"

She is taking a forkful of potato, but she nods. Oh, thank God! I smile at her and am rewarded by a beautiful smile from her.

Trying to maintain a relaxed atmosphere, I ask her, "All this needs is a nice red wine to go with it, don't you think?"

She smiles as she takes a drink of milk.

"Yes, that would be nice…"

She frowns, obviously pondering something, "You know, I don't even know if I CAN have wine. I never asked."

I try to recall anything written on the subject in all the literature we were given and can't recall seeing anything on the subject, then look at her and shrug.

"Odd, as much we both enjoy a little wine with our meals, that we've never bothered to ask, but I've just assumed you shouldn't drink while you're getting chemo."

Ana looks at me amused.

"Me, too. You think maybe?"

I grin, "Well, we can ask, can't we?"

Her grin gets bigger, "Wouldn't hurt to ask. All he can say is, 'No'."

By the time I'm done I see that Ana has eaten about half of what was on her plate, which pleases me to no end.

"Excellent job, Mrs. Grey! Would you like some tea now?"

She folds her cloth napkin up and places it on the table as she considers my suggestion, then she lays her head back and closes her eyes for a moment. I'm sure she's tired and just as I start to speak up to ask if she wants to go back to bed, she sits herself upright and pulls her shoulders back before opening her eyes and looking at me.

"Yes, please, tea would be wonderful. I want to lie down because I'm tired, but I need to get my strength back, so I'm going to stay up in the chair and have some tea, then go and brush my teeth. Once I've done that, I will get back in the bed."

I see her resolve in her eyes, which I greatly appreciate, but I don't want her to overdo it.

"Are you sure you're up to it? You really haven't had a chance to rest since you showered."

Ana gives me an adoring look, but shakes her head.

"You are so sweet worrying so much about me, but I think I can manage being up a little longer. "

I move the table out of my way and lean down to kiss her forehead. I'm reassured she's up to the task when I see how bright her eyes are just now.

"Very well, Mrs. Grey."

I reach over and press the call button before I stack and carry the dishes over to the trolley, then study the tea tray Wanda brought earlier. There are several tea bags, plenty of sugar and cream, and we can use the same cups; mine is on the table and Ana's is on her side table. A few minutes later Wanda taps on the door and peeks in.

"Wanda, we're done eating, but we'd like more tea, please. I believe we have everything we need except for hot water, if you don't mind."

Wanda pushes the door open further and walks in smiling at Ana.

"How was your meal Miss Ana?"

Ana beams at her, "It was delicious, AND, I ate enough to placate my husband for once!"

Wanda gives her a warm smile as she picks up the tea tray and places them on the trolley. I think she senses I'm wondering why she's removing the tray.

"When I bring the pots back, it's going to be easier if I have the tray. "

I smile at her as I say, "Ah!"

I walk over and open the door, Ryan looks in. When he sees Wanda prepare to push the trolley, he comes in and shoos her out of the way, then pushes it out of the room himself with Wanda in tow. I close the door behind them both, and return to Ana's side. I sit on the edge of her bed and grasp her hand.

"So, you're OK, Mrs. Grey? No headache, no nausea?"

I don't believe she's complained of either all day. Her smile reassures me she's good, thank you lord!

"No, Mr. Grey, other than being tired, I feel fine."

I sit on the bed and pull out my phone.

"I need to ask Nanny how to do Face Time on your iPad. I'm sure it's easy, but I'm afraid by the time I figure it out Ted will be asleep. So, a phone call will have to suffice tonight. We'll do FaceTime tomorrow. OK?"

Ana smiles, tilting her head.

"I would have thought you would be well versed doing video chat, I know you've done it at Grey House."

I smile back at her.

"Yes, you're right, I have. But, that is via an encrypted business feed, which Barney usually deals with. All I have to do is be there as Master of the Universe!"

She's still shaking her head.

"You're not making fun of me, are you, Mrs. Grey?"

She bites her lip.

"I wouldn't dare, Mr. Grey!"

I can't help it, she's so sweet. I lean over and kiss her.

"Let's call, shall we?"

I dial the house number and Taylor answers.

"Taylor, can you ask Nanny to call us when Teddy is able to talk before he goes to bed?"

"Of course, Mr. Grey. I'll go ask her right now. How is Mrs. Grey this evening?"

I smile as I look over at Ana who is watching me.

"She's doing well!"

"Do you anticipate she will be discharged tomorrow, Sir?"

I look at Ana trying to figure out how to answer his question in a way she won't know I'm talking about her having to stay another night.

"No, it doesn't look like it. We'll be waiting for Nanny's call."

"Yes sir. I believe they are still in the play room. I'll go up right now."

I hang up.

"He's going up to ask Nanny now."

"He was asking if I was coming home tomorrow, wasn't he?"

How does she do that? I give her a rueful smile.

"How did you know? Did you hear him?"

She shakes her head and reaches over to squeeze my hand.

"You did, by your body language. You tensed up right before you answered an obvious question. I just reasoned he was still asking about me."

She's incredible. I shake my head.

"I don't know why I try, Mrs. Grey."

"You shouldn't try, Christian. Were you afraid I'd be upset?"

I nod.

"I'm OK because you're here, although I feel guilty denying the children their father since I've no choice but to be here."

Before I can reply, my phone rings, but its Taylor's number. I answer.

"Grey."

"Mr. Grey, Nanny wanted me to let you and Mrs. Grey know that she will call once Teddy is out of the tub. She told him he had to take his bath before he could talk to you."

I laugh. That boy! I shake my head while I look at Ana amused.

"Very well, Taylor. We'll be waiting. Thank you for calling".

Ana's smiling at me.

"What?"

"Ted. Nanny had to tell Teddy he had to take his bath before he can talk to us."

She shakes her head, equally amused.

"That's our boy!"
