ALEXIS'S POV
"Hey, Serena. What are you reading?" I asked, looking quizzically at my sister, who was upside down and reading a thick blue-covered book. "Umm you know, just stuff." She said, and returned to reading. I sighed. "Don't be like that, Serena." I said, and walked over to her bed. "Hey, don't you get any- Ack!"
I grabbed the book (taking care to mark her page, she went on a rampage the last time I accidentally shut 'The History of Magvel') I laughed. "You are NOT actually reading this!" I said incredulously, reading the title. Serena bit her lip. "Give it back, Alexis." Was all she said. "'Make Him Fall For You in a Fortnight?' I mean, who are you pining for anyways?"
Serena turned a delicate shade of pink. "Th-that's not of your business! Now give it BACK!" she practically screamed, and lunged for the book. Caught off guard, she shoved me onto the bed, causing the book to fall to the ground. A small cloud of note cards fell from it, littering the ground. Hastily, I scooped them up, my eyes skimming side to side.
My mouth dropped open. "No. Way! Him?" I yelled, and I'm 90% sure everyone on the floor heard. Serena sat down on the foot of her bed and started to cry. I sighed. Never tell her I said this, but Serena is incredibly smart in combat, her studies, pretty much everything. Except for being… social. Well, that's indelicately put. She has a ton of friends, just no… relationships, if you pick up what I'm putting down.
"Serena, I'm sorry." I said genuinely, and sat down next to her. "G-go on. Laugh." She said, staring at the floor. I won't say I wasn't tempted. However, I had to be the big-sister figure here. "Why would I?" I asked rhetorically. She looked up at me and wiped her eyes. "P-promise?" She said shakily, gathering up the notecards that fell.
I nodded. "Of course. That's what sisters are for!" I said in a mockingly offended tone. Serena laughed. "Then who do YOU like?" she said, glancing up at me. See? She's a clever little… Anyway, I decided to tell the half-truth. "Honestly, Serena, I have no clue." I said, looking at the ground.
I suppose you could say that was true. I was deciding. Before she could question me further, I got up. "I think I'm going to get something to eat." I said, and handed her the notecard of Christian's likes and dislikes. She nodded. "See you."
CHROM'S POV
I am sick of being knocked out by my little sister. Yes, I know, that didn't sound the least bit manly. Speaking of being manly, I was currently walking Robin to the 'private royal eating quarters'. Yes, the castle actually comes equipped with one. Now, someone might be asking 'why are you taking your best friend on a dinner date when you're already married?' I wasn't going there to eat with him, per se. I was there to intoxicate him.
Now before everyone starts hurling accusations, let me tell you the reason why. Robin carries the roster. Lucina is in the roster. So is her mysterious lover. I intoxicate him, he lets me flip through the roster, I figure out who it is, beat him to a bloody pulp, and we all go down in history.
Or so I thought.
"So, Robin. Would you care for a drink?" I said once we were seated at the 24-seat table. We had just sat across from each other in the middle-ish. Robin shook his head. "I'm not big on drinking, Chrom." He said shaking his head. I sighed in frustration. "Robin, you have to sit down sometimes and enjoy yourself. Just one mug?" I said, being as persuasive as possible.
Robin sighed. "Fine, ONE mug." He said, holding his out. I grinned and poured him the strongest stuff in the arsenal- Breath Of Dragons. Even Basilio passed out after two bottles. One or two mugs should get Robin talking.
I waited until he had taken in about half the mug. "So, I guess a lot of the Shepherds are starting to settle down, huh?" I said, taking a sip from my mug of water. Robin raised an eyebrow. "You are not serious." He said, taking another sip. I laughed. "Come on, there has to be someone, right? I mean, even the children are courting and you haven't found anyone. People are starting to worry." I said, lying through my teeth.
Robin looked like he was about to tell me something, but then he shook his head. "Well they shouldn't. I'M PERFECTLY FINE! YOU HEAR?" he shouted, looking up at the roof as if someone was listening in.
One and a half hours later, Robin had finished three bottles and was perfectly sober. It was incredible. "So Robin," I said, pressing ahead. "Where are you keeping the roster nowadays?" He stopped, and the mug hit the table, sloshing Breath of Dragons all over the shining mahogany. "THAT'S what this is about? You wanted to intoxicate me to look at the ROSTER?" He said, his voice a mixture of shock and anger.
Well, that plan had failed. Robin got up. "Wait, Robin!" I said, getting desperate. He sighed. "What is it?" I gestured to the table. "At least sit down and have some man-to-man talk?" I said, smiling so wide it must've looked like a grimace. Robin sighed. 'Fine, but I hope you know that I filled those bottles of Breath of Dragons with water beforehand.
The bottle in my hands fell to the floor and shattered. "You, my dear Robin, will NEVER cease to amaze me." I said, shaking my head. Anyway, allow me to skip to the later part of the night, where things start to get interesting. Also a bit bloody.
So, we actually broke out real alcohol, which Robin grudgingly drank. It was amazing how quickly his calm and composed manner fell away. I, however, was still drinking regular water. Although I didn't have to refill under the table anymore; that's how far gone he was.
"So Robin, about the roster." I said, putting my mug down. Robin sighed. Chrom is this really what 'dis is still about?" He said, slamming his mug on the table. "What'ya need it fer anyway?" "I… um… need to check my daughter's love life." I said rather stupidly.
Robin stopped, stared at me, and guffawed like a brigand. "A'right then blue blood! Here yah go!" he said, pulled the roster from his cloak (don't ask me how he kept it in there) and slammed it onto the table. Hastily I opened it and flipped to Lucina's page.
"Let's see… Chrom's future daughter…. Princess…least likely to get a joke… Ah here, husband is-" The book fell out of my hands and hit the floor with a splash. Robin guffawed and pointed to it like a two-year-old.
"Robin. Care to explain why the roster says you're courting my daughter?" I said with deadly calm. Robin stopped laughing, his muddled mind connecting the dots. "Hey… looka' the time princy, I should skedoodle if ya' catch me drift…" Robin got about five feet out of the room before he tripped on his cloak and sprawled to the floor, passed out.
"Justice will be served later. Hurting you now would be like kicking a puppy." I muttered, and walked out of the room taking care to step on his fingers.
Jack's Corner
I apologize that this chapter is both late and probably below my usual standards. This is draft #7 of this chapter, which was supposed to be up Friday. Anyway, this seemed like the best way to do reveal the big secret xD Just wait until Chrom meets his grandchildren. And, I'm going to give all the OCs little moments like that to develop their character because I did shove a bunch in without much detail so here it is! Enjoy!
