Casey listened intently to the raven-haired girl sitting in front of her and sharing her mother's story about the difference between Prince Charming and The One.
"She said our 'The One' might not exactly be the one that we want but exactly the one we need." Anja added.
"Romeo and Juliet, Pride and Prejudice?" Casey read the title of the books Anja borrowed from the library on her left. The rest of the books are all Austen and Sparks.
"A girl helped me with these from the Day Class. Her name's Aira."
"What exactly do you need these books for?"
Anja feigned a very determined look. "My guide!"
"Guide?" The huntress parroted. "For what?"
Red started to settle on the raven-haired girl's cheeks. "I-I just want to know what people do and feel when they l-like each other a-and how to know if it's already..." Anja shrugged and whispered the last word. "-love."
The blonde huntress finally understood. Even she is ignorant in matters of the heart. She devoted herself to her trainings and even as a child, she never really was the 'girly' type. When all her female classmates started noticing the opposite sex romantically, she saw them as her potential opponents and sparring partners and because the girls were never strong enough for those, she doesn't hang out with them. She never even had a girl friend, she was one of the boys.
"It's about Kiryuu?" Casey asked.
Anja scratched her chin and then she started tracing the edges of the books. "Well, yeah." She was thinking of the safest way to tell her the gist of her feelings without revealing what's not supposed to be. "I l-like him, you see. I thought at first what we have was platonic... I treated him like a brother but he said he never did treat me like a sister. Then he kissed me and I liked it."
Casey was taken aback by the pureblood's straightforward divulgence. She smiled, but it faded in an instant. Their budding relationship is sweet but there are loads of complications. "But you're a pureblood and he's... a hunter." She pointed out.
Anja stared at her; brows furrowed. "Should that matter?"
Surprised by Anja's no-nonsense reply, Casey's mind drifted into thoughts of a certain noble vampire and wondered if he has the same standing as this girl.
"Casey-chan?" Anja called as she awaits her reply because the huntress became lost in her thoughts.
"Uhm..." Normally, she would snap when people would call her 'Casey-chan'. She's not japanese and for them, it's an honorific for people who are close friends. Casey laughed as she cleared her throat, unsure of her next words. "C-can you lend me one of these when you're done?"
A very sweet smile stretched on the pureblood's lips. The kind that Casey never believed any vampire is capable of.

Her eyes followed the two guards walking on the grounds. She stretched the rubber of the sling-shot in her hand and released the pebble she picked earlier.
She hit one of the guards on his arm. She watched him look down to the ground to find what hit him and then he's on his fighting stance, as well as the other guard. Their eyes surveyed the area like a hawk looking for his prey.
"What are you doing?"
Irene flinched at the voice behind her. She didn't feel him coming.
"Just playing around." Irene turned to the hunter with a smile.
Zero's eyes narrowed down on her then behind her, finding what she'd been playing with. "Give me that." He ordered, eyes on the redhead pureblood's hands that's wringing the sling.
Rolling her eyes, she handed the thing to him but just when he touched it, Irene grabbed his hand and pulled him towards her. She hugged him. "Oh, what will my cousin think if she sees us." It was a playful statement.
Zero felt his control snapping. He pushed the pureblood a little too strong that she ended with her butt on the ground. "Is immortality boring you already?" He asked with a cutting glare at the vampire who's now standing-up.
"Not just yet." She answered and as she was on her feet, she added. "I'll make sure to let you know when it does."
"And I'll make sure Bloody Rose will be glad to help end your boring life." As he said that, his eyes glowed.
Irene smirked. "Yeah, right." She circled him. "How's my fake cousin by the way?"
Zero raised a brow. "You see each other everyday."
"I meant, how is she in bed? Aren't you two sleeping already?" Irene smirked at the look on the hunter's face. "Oh dear, you still haven't-"
"She's not like you!" Zero hissed.
Insulted, Irene gritted her teeth. "Right. You should know her better. Your Selene who doesn't lie." She winced, "But she's not as sweet and as innocent as she looks. How sure are you that she's not keeping secrets from you? You might want to know what I know."
Zero opened his mouth to speak when he heard Kaito from his radio.
"We have a situation in the Moon Dorm. Enid is dying."
Surprised at the news, Zero looked at Irene and opened his mouth, pointing his finger at her face-
"Zero, hurry!" Says Kaito once again, so he had to run to the Moon Dorm.
When he arrived, some of the purebloods flocked outside the room of the bedridden pureblood after his mauling.
"You! What did you do to him?" Finn confronted him. He looked ready to attack.
Zero just glared at him. He doesn't even understand what's happening. Enid should have already healed by now or atleast getting better, instead he got worse.
"He won't heal anymore." Yagari said from beside him as the senior hunter immediately closed-in on them to mediate any fight.
"What could have caused that?" He asked.
"You." Yagari answered then shrugged. "At least that's what they believe."
Zero shook his head, not accepting the blame. Atleast not the cause of his healing abilities being gone. "I couldn't care less if he dies. But I let him live." Despite the fact that he touched Selene. He wanted to add that.
"Something is wrong with him. Dr. Yanagi is out of the island, somewhere in the south for some research. He'll be back in three days to look at him." Yagari looked back to the open door where two more purebloods from the night class are checking on Enid. "But I don't think he'll live that long."
"I can heal him." Says that voice behind Zero.
Kaito glared at the blonde huntress beside Anja who stood in front of Casey to defend her from his scolding.
"I heard you on the radio so that's why I'm here." Anja countered as she stepped forward just beside the silver-haired hunter who didn't look back.
"We don't want a repeat of what happened to the boy, Anja." Says Yagari.
"Oh I'd love to," Kaito teased but when his master gave him a look, he stepped back. "Hey, I was asleep... can't blame me. I'm just a man who loves some action."
Selene knew she had to gain Zero's permission because without it, the others won't let her. She reached for the silent hunter's hand as she looks up to him. When she met his eyes, she found a darker shade of lavender... violet and close to darkness. She reached for his face with her other hand. "Let me heal him, please?"
She noticed how Zero gritted his teeth and averted his eyes, then she knew something is up.
"Go. Two minutes." He said.
Selene nodded and reluctantly released the hunter's hand. When she entered Enid's room, Ma-Ru and Julie, Enid's special friend were in there with the very ill pureblood on his bed.
"What is she doing here?" Ma-Ru snapped at Kaito who followed her.
"Zip it and watch." Kaito said who motioned Anja to start.
Selene sat facing Enid who looked so defeated. The wounds Zero caused him had barely healed. They were still so fresh. Enid's face is the palest she had ever seen on anybody's skin.
She touched his forehead and his hand. She concentrated and felt the change in Enid's aura, his pulse indicated he's free from the difficulty in breathing. The scratches on his arm had closed and healed spotless and up to the ones on his arm, neck and face.
When she let go of him, she turned to the others and nodded. "He's okay now."
"Great! Let's go." Kaito pulled her out of the room, avoiding Finn as he rushed inside. "Anja's expecting your 'thank you' note in the morning." He muttered as he shuts the door. "Damn this assignment. I didn't train most of my life to help save vampires."
"Not now Kaito." Yagari lazily said though he's tired of hearing the same old crap.
Rolling his eyes, Kaito saw the silver-haired hunter pulling Anja towards him and down the staircase outside the dorm.
They were already in the grounds approaching the Chairman's house when Selene couldn't help asking. "What's wrong?"
But the hunter chose not to answer. He preferred talking in the confines of Selene's room.
She wondered what she did again that caused the boy to act this way. But she couldn't think of any offense.
As soon as they reached Selene's room, Zero closed the door and paced in front of the girl.
"What's bothering you?" She asked.
Zero looked up the ceiling, like he's asking for help with her question. Then when he looked down on her, she saw anger in his deep blood red eyes.
"Is there something you're not telling me?" He uttered breathlessly.
Selene's heart swelled at the sight of the beast's eyes. He's still very handsome even in this form. She shook the thought away, forcing herself to focus on his question.
Yes. There are things she didn't tell him. No. Can't tell him. About her promise to Irene and that she still wants him to feed on her despite his resistance. She wants him to need and want her... just her, alone.
But these are minor things right?
"What are you talking about?" She stepped forward and wrapped her arms around the hunter's nape, pulling him down and captured his lips. In Zero's momentary loss of thoughts, Selene took advantage and deepened the kiss... "I missed you this afternoon." She whispered and kissed him again, her fingernails scraping his scalp and when the hunter groaned in pleasure, she did it again and again.
Zero felt his entire body on fire, overwhelming him. The feel of Selene's soft and pliant body on his hands is too much. But he should not be distracted, he's a man on a mission. If Selene thinks she can turn the tables on him again, she's mistaken. And tonight he will prove it.
Zero lifted her from the floor and gently laid her on her bed as he hovers on top of her without breaking their precious contact.
"Not saying anything is as good as lying, Selene." Zero reminded her.
Selene bit the hunter's lip. "Remind me about that later." She reached for his stomach and lifted his shirt, she wanted to touch him and feel him. Selene hummed in satisfaction when the hunter swiftly removed his jacket and next his shirt. She moved to remove her own blouse and giggled when she saw Zero's eyes widening as he gaped at her with an open mouth.
He suddenly doubted his plan. With Selene being so excited and responsive, he might just lose control.
She already started reading some of the books she got from the library and knew that kissing and touching is normal for people who like each other. But she's not done yet with the first one which is called, The Notebook. It seems like a tragical one but she still wants them to end up together.
She pulled the hesitant boy down and crushed her mouth to his with her hands feeling him. "Don't be such a boy..." She teased him.
Brows furrowed, Zero regained his composure. "You will tell me what you're not telling me, understood?"
"Make me." She responded so playfully.
Gritting his teeth, Zero took the challenge when he reached for her skirt and tore it in half. It was Selene's time to gape at him with an open mouth. So he kissed her aggressively, slipping his tongue in her sweet soft mouth, tasting her and loving it. His hands busied on her skin.
"I will touch you and kiss you everywhere I want..." He hissed. Orbs, violet to black. "And when I'm done, you'll want more but I won't until you tell me 'everything'."
Selene's insides twisted at the intensity of his rough and deep voice that seemed to sip through her skin to her nerves causing a chain reaction in her body's senses.
Then Zero buried his face on her neck, his hot mouth torturing her sensitive skin. His kisses travelled down through the valley of her breasts and what was shocking was when she felt his mouth's warmth and wetness directly on her buds when he captured one while his other hand touches and pinches the other. When she looked down she realized, the hunter has removed her upper undergarment. She whimpered at the delicious feeling she never thought could come from this.
When he was done sucking and raining kisses on the other, he did the same thing to the other one while his one hand crawled down, down, down.
Selene arched her body with a scream that was immediately covered by Zero's mouth when he tore her remaining clothing.
"Ssshhh... I don't care about being seen worshipping your body." Zero whispered in her hear. "Just as long as they can't see you."
She only bit her lip along with a whimpering sound. She doesn't know what he is doing to her but she can't say she doesn't like it. He's only touching her and kissing her, right?
"Are you telling me now, or later?" He asked her but she only buried her face on his chest when she found him looking at her.
Selene felt his hand slowly circling her thighs and now in between her legs. She took a sharp breath when she finally felt him there. She straightened her legs and pulled his hand away.
"No?" Zero asked her and before she answered he kissed her again. He made her float in cloud nine with his kisses and only realized his intention when he parted her legs with his own again and touched here there once more. She writhed and thrashed beneath him who pinned her with his body, unable to contain the overwhelming sensations coursing through her with what he's doing to her.
"Aahh... Z." She mewled. Feeling something building somewhere in her stomach again. But before she exploded, his hand was no longer there. She wasn't able to formulate a reaction yet when she felt him move, last she saw was something silver between her legs. "Zero!" She called his name, dumbfounded at their awkward position.
The hunter only smirked. "Bite the pillow." He only said then his head dipped between her legs.
The feel of his mouth and his tongue... there was too much to bear. She reached for the pillow behind her head and bit it so hard she thought she cut a hole into it.
The sweet sweet sensation started to build up again inside of her until she could no longer contain it. She fell apart.
Zero revelled in her sweet surrender and her drugging scent and taste. She's more than what he imagined her to be. He ran feathery kisses on her stomach with her body still shaking from his touch. Oh how he wants to take her right now. How he wants to feel being inside of her. But that time will come... Tonight was sweet but he wants to make sure that Selene is completely his, soul and spirit with nothing to keep them apart. And he desperately wanna know what she's keeping from him.
"Does other people do that too?" Selene asked. Zero moved up to level with her.
"Yes. And so much more." He answered. He noticed her looking at his mouth then she pouted.
"You're shameless."
It was then she noticed the hunter's eyes on her chest. Selene automatically crossed her arms.
Amused at her reaction, Zero removed her arms from her chest. "There's nothing to be ashamed of. You're perfect."
His piercing lavender eyes shone from the reflection of the moon from her window. No. This scarred but beautiful man inside and out is the perfect one.
Selene moved to wrap her arms around the hunter's nape but he moved away.
"Are you ready to tell me now?" Zero asked, his expression darkened.
"What?" Selene uttered, confused of what he meant for a while.
"I told you, I won't kiss you and I won't touch you again until you tell me." The strength of the words reflected the intensity of how much Zero meant it.
"Are you blackmailing me?" She asked.
Zero sat up, "Call it what you like. But that's it."
Refusing to believe him, she rose to hug him only to reach nothingness when he stood so fast.
"Sleep now." He ordered as he wore his clothes again. Then he left without looking back.

Yagari pushed the door and found Kaien Cross talking to himself and writing things down.
"The caterer, check. The drinks, definitely not alcoholic. And then there's the cake... cake? On a ball? No no no." He shook his head as he scratches out something on the paper. "Fruits... sweets maybe, chocolate! Yes, check!"
"Old man! What are you mumbling about?" Yagari shouted that surprised the headmaster and caused some papers, among other things flying in the air and scattered on the floor.
"Jeez! Didn't you ever learn to knock?" Kaien screeched. He stood to pick his things up.
"I did, actually. Unfortunately you're on your soundproof little world again." He said in his defense.
"The ball is in 5 days. And I'm the only one doing everything." He whined.
Yagari winced, then he stood by the window and lit up a cigarette. "Do you think that's a good idea? A pureblood has just been murdered."
"It's not our fault. We didn't run out of reminders. He was murdered outside the school, outside our watch because he broke the most important rule." Kaien said. He sat back on his chair. "President Kenrick is on our side. He suggested the ball to alleviate the tension. He will be here."
"He will be here?" Yagari repeated, his cigarette almost fell from his mouth.
"Yes. We have his blessing. He wants to meet our purebloods."
The raven-haired hunter chuckled. "Hmm, 'our' purebloods huh. We still don't know who we are up against."
"Selene has Zero. She'll be safe."
"Zero has his hands full. The boy has so many battles in his hands..." Yagari said.
"Before Ryusuke's daughter, he never really lived. You are not taking her away from him." Kaien warned.
"I know Zero. But this place reeks of traitors and danger."
"Why did they send her here in the first place?"
Yagari looked away. "Because she asked for it. She travelled on her own remember? She wasn't supposed to be here. Master Ludwig only agreed that she stay here for a few weeks."
"Is that why Master Ludwig is coming? To get her?"

Casey saw Aki standing outside her room, waiting for her. Hesitantly, she approached him.
"How's Enid?" He asked.
"He's better. Anja healed him."
"Ofcourse." Aki nodded. "Don't you feel any changes to his aura?"
Confused, she asked. "What do you mean?"
Aki shrugged, "Nothing as serious as this." He handed a letter to her.
Casey took it and opened it without qualms. When he read the name on the paper; which is the only thing written there, she felt her face turning cold as were her hands.
Takuma Ichijou.
