A/N Hey guys! There were loads of reviews really quick after I put the last chapter up, and you have no idea how happy it made me! I do want to tell you all something, I'm writing the story just as it comes, so if I don't mention something that happened before again, it's because I've forgotten that I wrote it into the story :) Any way, Enjoy!
DISCLAIMER: I don't own ATLA
Zuko had so much energy, it was ridiculous. It was early, so only just mid-summer, but already the energy that normally flowed through him had started to flow.
He walked briskly around the palace. He'd already spoken with Callia and Draigor , and Iroh, and his mother, but they didn't help. He was looking for someone...
He went out side, through the window, into the early morning air...
to find it snowing.
"Katara?!" he yelped, wrapping his arms around him.
"Sorry!" the snow stopped. Zuko had often found her out here, making it snow as much as she could.
"It's OK." he walked down the Toph-made steps to where she stood, wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing her. She kissed back, but could tell something was different. When he finally pulled away, she blinked a few times.
"You OK?"
"I have so much energy, it's stupid. I feel like I could run around for days." Zuko told her, keeping her close.
"Why don't you train?" Katara suggested, but Zuko shook his head.
"I'm not allowed to use any firebending today before sunrise. That's when the ceremony is happening." Katara nodded in understanding
"We could try meditating?" Zuko shook his head again with a frown, leaning down and kissing her neck slowly. "Z...Zuko?"
"Mm?"
"I... I don't think.." she melted into his arms, twisting her fingers into his hair. Zuko grinned against her skin. He pulled away, taking a step back. "Zuko?"
"We shouldn't, it wouldn't be fair on you." Zuko shook his head. "I know that the Water Tribes don't approve of that before marriage, you'd be disgraced. I won't do that to you." Katara reached for his hand and smiled.
"You know how you said a few days ago that you loved me?" Katara smiled softly, looking at their intertwined hands.
"Yes."
"I love you too." Katara grinned up at him. They heard footsteps, and looked around to see Iroh, Ursa, Callia, Violetta and Draigor walking towards them, with Sokka, Toph, and Aang supporting YangChen as they followed.
"It is time." Draigor told him. "Remove your shirt and shoes, and follow us." Zuko did as he was told, stripping quickly. Katara looked away from the large scar in the middle of his chest from Azula's lightning. Zuko smiled to her fotly and took Katara's hand to follow Draigor and the others. Draigor led them to a large open space, with no buildings or people around.
"Ursa, Callia, Violetta, Katara. I ask you to make a circle with Zuko in the centre. Katara, would you please stand at the South." Katara nodded, quickly working out where the South point was and standing there. "Avatar, will you stand in the East of the outside circle, please?" Aang nodded, making sure that YangChen was OK before standing in the East point. "If the rest of you could make a circle around the others, in line with the Avatar." every one got into position quickly, just as the first tip of the sun could be seen. Draigor started to speak in a language that no one could understand.
Katara's eyes didn't leave Zuko, who was kneeling in the middle. It seemed like an orange glow was going through him, he cried out in pain as lightning shot through from his finger tips. Katara watched in horror as his skin peeled away, leaving scales in their place.
"Do not move, Katara." Ursa told her sharply. Katara stayed still, watching as Zuko left and a scaled human stood in his place. Katara watched as the person, with gold and red scales, slowly started to change shape, his form turning more and more reptilian. He also started to grow. Katara was blinded by a sharp, bright orange light. She closed her eyes, but didn't look away.
Draigor stopped talking.
"Katara, look." Sokka, who was standing behind her, whispered. Katara slowly opened her eyes to see a dragon, who was a little bit larger than Appa, standing there, looking around. His great wings were unfolded, and he was moving them.
"Go to him." Ursa pushed her forward.
"Z...Zuko?" Katara asked, walking forward slowly. The Dragon looked to her, smiled and bounded over. She shied away from him, and he skidded to a stop, a look of hurt crossing his face. "Well have you seen your self? You don't look like you used to! You're huge! And golden! And scaly!" Katara smiled, reaching a hand out. Zuko pressed his large nose into her hand, and tried to make a happy noise that just came out as a scratchy growl. Katara giggled.
"Use your words, My Prince." Violetta suggested. Zuko opened his mouth and tried, but nothing came out. Dragior laughed.
"He cannot even talk." Draigor looked a Zuko with a smirk. Zuko growled. "Katara, come here please." Katara walked over, and he blew a hot steam over her. Katara yelped loudly, but it was soon gone. She watched Zuko tower over Draigor, who was lying on the ground.
"Keep Away From Her. Next Time I Will Kill You." Zuko warned. He walked over to Katara, nuzzling her face.
"I thought so. Princess Katara, I apologise." Draigor bowed to her.
"It's all right." Katara kissed Zuko's nose and he beamed happily.
"I was hoping that by putting you in danger, he would speak, and be able to turn back. We have one of the two." Draigor explained.
"Zuko," Katara whispered. "Can you turn back now please? I would like a hug, and my arm hurts." one moment, the gold and red dragon stood in front of her, the next, it was Zuko, with pale skin and the red burn.
"Are you all right? Are you hurt? Did he burn you? If he did, I'm going to kill him." Zuko fussed over her for a few moments, looking over her face and neck and arms.
"I'm fine... Zuko, your arms! Look!" Katara pulled his arm and made him look. Golden scales patterned his arms, as if his arms were scales. He ran a hand over them, but they were smooth, as if tattoos or markings.
"What... Draigor?"
"The most powerful of dragons get them. I, in my human body, have them too." He explained, and bowed. "Our prince has returned. It would be my honour to train with you."
"I would be honoured." Zuko bowed to him, wrapping an arm around Katara's waist as his friends came over. "Hey stone head."
"Hey Sparkles." Toph grinned. "Thanks for allowing me to come."
"Wouldn't have it any other way." Zuko grinned. Toph couldn't stop smiling. "Why are you smiling so much?"
"I saw." Toph grinned. "I saw you change. I know what you look like, and I know what every one looks like. Katara's hair is very fluffy, and YangChen is very pale, but she's ill... and Aang with his blue arrows, and Sokka with his pony tail." She smiled softly. "I saw for the first, and last, time in my life!"
"That's amazing!" Katara hugged her friend. "I wonder what caused it."
"It may have been the power going through the circles," Violetta suggested, walking over in her human body. "My Prince, you have a lot of power running around your body at the moment, I ask you to be careful when using your bending. You will not be used to the new found energy and power you have."
"Thank you, Violetta," Zuko smiled to her. "If you'll all excuse me, I have to go and see about some arrangements." Katara's eyes widened.
"Do you really think that now is the best time?" Katara asked, trying to be polite and not tell him he was being stupid. Zuko frowned.
"What do you mean?" he narrowed his eyes.
"If it's about what you asked me to do, do it later." Katara told him, crossing her arms under her chest.
"But-"
"Zuko, don't make me say it."
"But-"
"Zuko, it's a stupid thing to do, especially with this much new power."
"I have a new name for him!" Toph suddenly shouted. Every one looked at her. "We could call him Dragon-butt. Or Dragon-breath-"
"Or none of them." Zuko narrowed his eyes. "Sparkles will do."
"What about Sparky?" Sokka asked. Katara smiled gratefully to them both.
"No."
"Please?"
"No!" Zuko laughed. "Draigor, when you're ready to train, come and find me."
"I am ready now, if you will?" Zuko nodded and watched Draigor turn into a very tall, very muscular man with long black hair that reached his below his hips and the same markings on his arms but green. "This way." Draigor led him to the training grounds, filling a bucket of water up and placing it at the side.
"What do we learn first?"
