The Walking Dead: The World We Live In

Chapter 34: This World We Live In, So Ugly - So Beautiful

AN: Hey guys, so I've decided to instead split this up into two chapters I decided to combine it into one chapter. This is the final full chapter of this story and like I said there will be an epilogue following this chapter and a bonus chapter with some cool stuff in it. So anyway guys, sit down, grab a beverage, and enjoy the ride!

Lee wakes up finally to a dark room, he struggles to focus on the objects surrounding him. His head swims as his nerves register the dull pain in his left arm that increasingly worsens. He grits his teeth as the wound begins to burn and send sharp waves of pain throughout his upper arm making his whole body shiver coldly.

He shuts his eyes tightly and struggles to lift himself up off of what he gathered was the living room couch. He sits upright and swings his legs over the edge of the leather couch and focuses his vision forward, he blinks slowly and grips the edge of the couch tightly with his right hand. He can already feel the phantom limb grabbing the couch, yet there was nothing there.

He had lost most of his left arm, it was cut off above the elbow. Lee figured he was very lucky as well, he hadn't bled out, but he knew that too much activity would start the bleeding again. He also knew that he might not have gotten the infection completely out, Lee didn't know how much time he had left if that was the case.

He still felt his strength residing in him, physical and mental strength he had build up during his time in the apocalypse.

Physically, Lee had become quite fit, his muscles had grown stronger and more pronounced, yet now he had lost both a limb and some of his strength.

Mentally, Lee had always been strong, he always tried to keep his emotions in check yet he knew that it didn't always work. However, Lee still felt he had managed to keep a good grip during these events.

With all of these factors giving him a positive outlook he also had to factor in two crucial negatives that would impede his mission. First, he lost his arm, and with that arm he had lost a measurable amount of blood, he would likely remain quite dizzy for the next few days. The muscles in that arm would also weaken and be more sensitive as the wound slowly closes over the next few months.

The second problem he faced was the infection, he knew the infection was transmitted through saliva from the walkers. The bacteria was like nothing the world had ever seen before, when the patients first arrived in the hospitals the doctors didn't have what it took to combat the infection leading to death and reanimation. If that bacteria had already traveled up through Lee's system in the minutes before he lost his arm he would likely die. He would have no chance.

If that was his destiny, then he would at least do one last thing. He had to rescue Clementine, she was his light in the world, he promised himself he would fight for her, and he promised that he would lay his life down for her.

He grits his teeth, he had to save her. The muscles in his legs protested as he pushed himself upwards, the amputated arm sends a wave of icy warmth throughout his body as the world around him swirls for only a moment.

He blinks rapidly and clumsily walks to the voices. He squints his eyes as the dying rays of sunshine peer through the back door. Lee leans against the door frame as his eyes adjust to the lighting.

The boat sits upon its trailer, the supplies have been loaded onto it, the white vessel is ready for departure. Kenny, sits on the trailer with his head hung as he rubs his temples. Lee glances to his right and sees Molly, Christa, Omid and Ben scavenging through the shed looking for anything they can use on their trip.

Carley and Bud are hunched over a table they had set up outside, a map was placed on top of it and the walkie talkie was sitting upon the edge of the table next to Clementine's hat. Lee pushes himself slowly off of the door frame and takes slow, lumbering steps into the yard. The cool wind makes Lee shiver, it was like he had gotten a cold, yet beads of sweat ran down from his hairline.

Like a ghost he passed throughout the yard unnoticed and approaches the table with the walkie talkie and the hat, he grabs the hat and studies it. The once pure white fabric was dirtied and stained with his own blood, Lee squeezes the blue bridge of the hat, he had to get her back.

"Lee," Bud breathes, looking to his right, "You're okay," he confirms for himself.

Lee glances to his left at his brother, "Yeah, I guess so, I'm not dead yet," he says as he leans on the plastic table.

"Lee," Carley exclaims rushing to him and embracing him, she pulls back but keeps her hands on his shoulders "I had no idea what was going on when Bud brought you in, and then he cut your arm off and I just knew, I knew what it was. And Clementine-"

"I must find her, I have to get her out of here," Lee speaks evenly, his gaze falls upon Carley and then to the walkie talkie.

"I know, Lee, but I don't know where she is. She was on the radio about forty-five minutes ago, it was only for a few seconds, and we could barely hear her," Carley explains, "I think it was something about a swamp, I- I really don't know. And she said there was some man that was keeping her, I couldn't make out anything else and I don't think she could respond to us after that, I'm sorry."

"The Marsh House," Lee says, he pulls away from Carley and places his finger on the map, "Right here, on this street, that's where it is. I don't know how he knew to bring her there but when I get to him, I'm going to tear him apart," Lee growls balling his only hand into a tight fist.

Bud folds his arms over his chest, "How do you know where they are?"

Lee's cold orbs find his brother's eye, "She told me once, back at the motor inn, that it was where her parents would always stay at. The Marsh House, and she knew where it was because her parents had taken her there last year."

Bud closes his eye and nods slowly, "Okay, but Lee, that man stopped Clementine from using the radio. He probably knows that you'll come for her, he could be waiting for you, he could kill you if you go, it might take more than all of us to save her."

Lee shakes his head and grits his teeth, "No, it won't. He won't kill me."

Carley places a firm grip on Lee's left bicep,• she narrows her eyes at him, "Lee, Bud is right, going after her could put you in danger."

Lee chuckles dryly, "No, I'm not the one in danger, he is. Ever since he decided to take her from me he had put himself in danger. I won't let him have her, I can't allow it," Lee states firmly.

Carley sighs, "Lee, I'll follow you anywhere, but I just don't know about this. I want to save Clementine, but the inner part of the city is packed with walkers, we could all die."

Lee purses his lips and clips the walkie talkie to his belt, "None of you are going to die, I'm going alone."

Bud's eye widens, "What? No! We won't let you do this alone!"

The entirety of the group's eyes were on the trio, Lee pushes his way past Carley and Bud and grabs the edge of the trailer which held the boat. With all his strength he attempts to heave it towards the gate, "Lee! What are you doing?" Kenny asks rushing to him.

"I'm getting you all out of here, to the waterfront at least, so you can wait for us. We've seen the patterns of the walkers. They moved to the inner city now, you won't find many," Lee explains, he becomes dizzy and he finds it hard to stand.

Kenny interjects wildly, "What the fuck are you trying to say. Who's us?"

"I'm saying I'm going after Clementine, alone, I don't want to put anyone else in danger. If out of anyone here, I have the lowest chance to make it out," he speaks hoarsely, "And it's still my responsibility to save her, if it's the last thing I do I'm going to save her life."

Kenny furrows his brow and frowns, "No, that's bullshit, you're fine. We- we cut off the arm! There's no way-"

Lee cuts Kenny off, "Kenny, I don't feel good already, I'm cold, I'm sweating, I feel dizzy-"

"So let me go, man, let anyone else go. We all want her to be safe, but you don't have to die if someone else can do this," Kenny pleads.

"No, you're wrong, Kenny. He does have to do it," Molly speaks up from behind everyone, she walks to Lee's side.

Kenny glares at her in anger, "What the fuck do you know about him or anyone else here? What makes you think you can say that it's okay to send people to their deaths, huh? What do you know about anyone else, you fucking loner?" Kenny spits out harshly.

Molly isn't deterred, she just smiles, "I knew my little sister, I knew how much I wanted to save her, I knew that I couldn't stop her from dying. But I also knew that I couldn't stop her from dying because she saved my life. That's what Lee wants to do, he wants to save Clementine even if he has to suffer the consequence of death. It's not that I want him to do it, but it's what he feels has to be done."

Molly turns to Lee, "But I know you're strong, Lee, stronger than all of us," she says with a genuine grin as she holds an object to his chest, it was her ice pick, "Take her, I know you'll bring her back to me. We'll take to the boat to the waterfront and we'll wait for you and Clementine there. I know you'll make it back."

Lee grips the rubber grip tightly, "Thank you, Molly."

Molly turns around and walks over to the head of the boat, "Thank me in about an hour or two when we're on the water."

Lee gives her a small half smile and looks at his reflection in the recently cleaned blade, "Will do, Molly."

Lee holds the weapon to his side and looks at Kenny, Carley, and Bud, "Guys," he begins, "I'm not too sure what to say, I know this was unexpected but, thank you. Thank you Bud, for always putting up with me, your big bad older brother," he chuckles at his younger sibling who looks at the blades of grass on the ground.

"You know, you got me into a lot of shit when we were kids, and you still got passed of as the good one," Bud recalls, looking up and smiling at his older brother, "Come here, old man," Bud quips walking over to Lee and embracing him, "You know what though, Lee? I thought I had a hard head, but you," he chuckles dryly, "You're something else. I guess I really can't convince you to let us come with you huh?"

Lee shakes his head, "No, this is something I have to do myself, and I don't want anyone else getting hurt on my account."

Bud closes his eye shut tightly, he sighs and shakes his head slowly, "Damn it Lee," Bud's voice cracks.

Lee puts a firm hand on his brother's shoulder, Bud looks up, his chocolate brown sad eye looks just like it used to when they were young boys. Lee would often comfort his brother just like he did now, except it was different, this could have very well been the last time Bud would ever see his brother's eyes. Those eyes of determination, the eyes that painted the picture of a hard headed individual who was throwing himself into the Lion's den without bait.

"Have faith, Bud, everything will soon be alright. Look, I need you to do something for me, and you too, Ken. When you guys get the boat tied up on the water I want you two to wait for Clementine and I by the train, okay?" Lee asks of them.

Bud nods and runs a hand over his scalp. "Sure thing, pal, we'll wait for you and Clem," Kenny says, "You just don't take too long okay, I'm starting to miss the little one already," he says attempting a joke.

"Yeah, me too, but I'll have her back soon. And we can finally get on that boat and get out of here, we can finally make a life for ourselves, just like I promised you," Lee says to his friend, "You're a good man, Ken, you'll do fine with these guys, even if you have to do it without me, just keep your head clear, okay?"

"Will do, friend, will do. Come on Bud, we need to get the gate open so we can haul this thing out," Kenny says as he puts a hand on Bud's shoulder and steers the youth of the Everett brothers away from Lee and Carley.

The two stand together as a breath of wind circulates throughout the backyard again, Lee grabs hold of Carley's hand gently after he puts down the ice pick. "Carley, thank you."

Carley looks into the man's eyes, "Thank you so much for what you've done for me. You believed in me, Carley, and I know you think what in doing now is foolish, but it's what I know is right and what must be done."

Carley shakes her head and smile's at the man she has come to know and love over the past five months, "I still believe in you Lee, so come back to me okay?" she asks as she stands on her tip toes and plants a soft kiss on Lee's lips, "I love you, Lee," she whispers.

Lee wraps his arm around her and rests his chin on her head gently, "I love you too, Carley." Lee pulls away from her, "I promise you I'll come back, I don't think anything will be able to keep me away from you guys."

Carley bites on her lip and searches deeply in Lee's dark eyes, seemingly satisfied she turns around abruptly, "I'm going to go now, I'm going to have to help them. You should go to, I want you back as soon as possible, and I don't want to change my mind either."

The sun had finally begun to dip below the horizon as Lee made his way down to one of the busiest parts of Savannah. Here on River Street was where Clementine was, she was in the Marsh House down this road.

It was Lee's only lead and it was most likely the correct one. From what he remembered about the building was that it was roughly three stories tall and it sported balconies on its street side as to accommodate residents of the hotel.

Soon enough Lee would be turning left off of Jefferson Avenue and onto River Street. The building should be halfway down the road, about five blocks from the next intersection, it was the only building with balconies most likely so Lee would be able to detect it easily.

His condition had remained about the same, the only change was that his head began to pulsate which sent sore tremors throughout his skull. Otherwise his symptoms remained stagnant, he was still cold, sweaty, dizzy, and uncomfortable. His severed arm still aches and submitted sharp spikes of pain up throughout the nerves in his arm and to his neck.

However, despite all of that, he still felt that he would be okay. He had mentally prepared himself for death, as much as any man could. Lee knew that death could be a consequence of his actions here, if he made the wrong move, perhaps even if his heart had beat in the wrong pace he could be killed. He realized that death was a looming factor for himself now more than he ever had.

All this time, throughout all the bloodshed and death of others he hadn't always considered that he himself could be killed. Granted, he never felt invulnerable, he always knew he could die, but he never truly felt it. Yet after everything he's had to do, all the wrong doings that he had committed, the lies he told, the people he's had to kill, how could it have never occurred to him the consequences of what he considered everyday altercations. Who could truly believe that they could kill without being prepared todos themselves?

He had no time for these thoughts however as he approaches his destinations, the Marsh House, Clementine. It was the final stretch and he was prepared to risk everything, Lee was finally ready to kill with the consequence of death.

His grip on the ice axe Molly had given him tightened as he saw them. Those who had ripped everything from them, their own freedom, their lives and dreams. Walkers, a whole horde of them, they gathered down that one street. They seemed to always get in the way, they always ruined things, he looks down to his left where his arm would be hanging down, yet because of them he had lost an arm too.

Lee grits his teeth, they couldn't stop him now, though, he would tear through every single one of them that gets in his way so he can get to Clementine. Every fucking one.

They had taken notice of him as he began his walk down the road, he glances ahead to the Marsh House. It was the only building with the balconies, he glared ahead at the first walker who dared getting in his way.

It growls at Lee, it was hungry, they always were. What was once a male tourist was now a flesh eating abomination, and it had to be erased from the earth. Lee stomps forward, he lifts the axe and swings it down with a furious roar. The impact of the blade into the soft skull caused an eruption of blood and brain matter to spurt from the corpse.

As Lee rips the ice axe from the already decayed corpse another walker approaches him. It stumbles over gnawed to the bone ankles, its greasy blonde hair falls over its eyes as it opens its mouth. Saliva runs down from the teeth to lower jaw, Lee uses the momentum of pulling the axe out of the corpse's head to swing at the jaw of the approaching walker. The woman's jaw flies off into the approaching crowd. Blood gushes from the wound but still it persists, Lee knows the never stop until the brain is destroyed.

With another roar he drives the blade of the axe through the shell of what was once a human's eye socket, the corpse slides off of the blade onto the ground. Lee pushes forward, corpses hit the ground, the weapon he holds becomes covered in blood and bits of skull pieces and skin, his clothes are soon sprayed with blood as well. Yet he finally makes it to the doors, the Marsh House.

Lee shuts and seals the door behind him as he enters, the walkers seemed to have lost interest in him however so they don't pursue him. He finds it strange but knows that now isn't the time to ponder over things like that. He would figure it out later on the boat, he was confident now that he would live, he just needed to find Clementine and they could leave.

The main room consisted of corpses as per usual, the smell was putrid and damp at the same time. There were two doorways past the reception's desk which lead to the large banquet hall directly ahead. On his sides were the elevators and bellhop stations, behind him was the exit.

He moved forward, each step he took echoed off of the walls, Lee went past the reception desk and into the banquet hall. There were four walkers, each dead and nailed to each side of the door, they were dressed up in suits and their faces were pinned into a smile. In the center of the room filled with tables and untouched plates and glasses sitting upon them was one small table. There were two chairs on each side of the table, one however, was already occupied.

"Lee!" the voice called, Lee could barely make out the face in the dark lighting. Lee knew it was a man, though. The voice cackled, Lee could tell he was no older than thirty as well, "Well look at you! No really, I wish I could," he laughs again as Lee steadily approaches him, "Hey, let me light some candles and we'll talk, okay? Good!"

The man stands, in the low lighting Lee can see he's wearing a baseball cap and a leather jacket. The man picks up a wooden chair and throws it down hard to the left side of the table facing Lee. He reaches into his pocket, Lee sees the familiar glint of a handgun and hears the crack of the weapon going off, a smoky hole is right next to Lee's advancing foot. Lee stops as the man looks over to him, he can see his teeth glint as he smiles, "Sorry pal, but until I set the mood I need you to stay right there," he says and holsters his gun.

The man grabs a can, likely filled to the brim with gasoline proceeds to dump half of the contents into the chair, "You smoke?" he asks taking out a cigarette and a lighter, Lee remains silent, his teeth are grit and his heart beats quickly, "No? Because I have another one, I always preferred the cheap brands, to be honest, I really hate the taste those expensive ones give you," he says as he lights the cigarette and taps the ashes onto the chair.

The flames burst as he shoves his hands into his pockets and walks to the chair, the cigarette moves to the right as his lips contort into a wicked grin, the low rumbling maniacal laughter coming from him floods the room. The illuminated form reveals to Lee his pale, scarred skin, his unshaven face and those dark brown eyes, tinted orange in the illumination of the fire that stared at Lee.

Lee knows she's here, she has to be, he knows his name. He must have been the one stalking them, "Where is she?" Lee growls.

The man smiles and folds his hands and rests his elbows on the table, "Well now Lee, that's quite rude, you enter my humble abode, I treat you like an esteemed guest and then you yell at me? No, take a seat and we'll be civilized about this."

"I don't have any time for your games, where-" another gunshot silences Lee once more, "I don't really give a shit, to be honest with what you do and do not have time for. Sit down. Now."

Lee's face is ridden with hatred and fury, but he complies knowing that it might be the only way. The man smiles, "Now, if you want to know where the woman of the hour is, she's right here," he says yanking at a chain that was concealed under the table, a low squeak is heard, Clementine is kneeling next to him, her neck is clamped by a chain which is held by the man, "Ain't she pretty?"

"You son of a bitch!" Lee snarls slamming his fists on the wooden table.

The man laughs and waves his finger at Lee, "No, Professor," he sneers, "My name is Nathan Darcy, but I fucking hate the name Nathan so you'll call me Nate."

Lee's blood boils, his only solace is that Clementine looks unharmed, just terrified, "Now!" Nate booms giddily, "We can talk, like men, right Lee?"

Lee speaks through grit teeth, "What do you want with her?"

Nate shrugs and tugs on the chain making Clementine fall on her hands and knees, "Well I don't know yet, I'm bored though, so I'll see. But like you said, you don't really have a lot of time and neither do I," Nate chuckles and rubs his chin with the hot barrel of his gun, "You know, I have a nice can out there, it's real roomy too, perfect for roadside... activities," he grins.

Lee readjusts his grip on the concealed ice axe and tries to remain calm, "I won't let you have her, Nate. She doesn't want to be here, I don't even know how you got her here, but she and I won't be staying, so you give her here now or you'll regret it."

"Well first and foremost, I haven't ever regretted anything. And second, she came here of her own free will, sure it took a little coaxing that she'd meet mommy and daddy, but hey, what can I say, she wants me. She wants to be here, with me, and she hates you, she wants nothing to do with you. So you can fuck off," Nate snaps at Lee's accusations.

Lee looks at Clementine, he looks into her eyes, they reaffirm that what Nate is saying is a lie as tears fall from them. Her mouth is covered up and Lee knew that she would say something if she could.

"No, you're wrong-" Lee begins, Nate shakes his head, "No, friend, I don't think so. You see Lee, we don't need you no more," he grins devilishly and grabs Clementine by the back of the head, "I'm her daddy now," he says as he rubs her head against his thigh, her eyes close and tears run down her face to Nate's leg.

Lee stands abruptly sending his chair to the floor, he raises his ice axe high in the air before his enemy, "I'll fucking destroy you!" Lee yells, hatred laces his tone of voice as the tip of the blade glints in the fire.

So does the barrel of the gun, however, as it goes off. Lee's ears ring as he realizes he's simply standing there, no longer holding his weapon, his mouth hangs open. The chains binding Clementine clank as her screams are muffled by the tape covering her mouth. He can't find any sound to emit from his mouth as the warm blood pours from his stomach, Lee falls backward as the blood continues to flow.

"You stupid," Nate growls standing up kicking the jerry can over to Lee's fallen form, "Son of a bitch!" Nate yells as he kicks the can onto Lee's side.

Nate grabs Clementine and pulls her to him, he removes the cigarette from his lips and holds it and her in separate hands, "You were stupid, Lee, and you failed, now... burn, bitch," Nate says tossing his cigarette onto the puddle of gasoline next to Lee, setting it ablaze. The droplets on Lee's left arm grow hot and the gasoline under him warms up as Nate takes Clementine to the reception desk.

Lee's left sleeve has a trail of flame on it as he rolls over onto his stomach. He didn't come over here to die and nothing else, he had to save her. He had to save her from that sick bastard. Blood pooled at his hands and knees as the flames lick at his back slowly burning through the gasoline and onto his shirt. He didn't have much time left anymore, that shot took too much out of him, he had already lost so much blood.

No, Lee wouldn't have it like this, Clementine was still with him. And no matter where they went, Lee would hunt them down and rip Nate apart. He would shatter his skull and rip his fucking eyes out, the man would be nothing but a pile of blood and meat if Lee caught up to them.

No, he would, he was already on the move as well. He rises to his feet and but falls down once more. He feels it now, the rage, the inhumane strength he saw in Jacob now consumed him. On only own arm and his legs he crawled towards them quickly roaring in fury as he did, toppling over tables and shattering glass in his path, it was like a beast wrapped in flames as Nate turned around.

His eyes display shock as Lee pounces on him and sends them both to the ground, the gun and Clementine slide to their right, out of reach. Nate sits up and shakes his head rapidly as if trying to clear the dizziness, the flames had been smoldered from Lee as he fell on his back. He sits up behind Nate and clamps his hand over the man's face.

He feels his palm crushing his nose, his middle finger and thumb squeezing his temples, his index finger crushing the hairline, and his ring and pinky finger digging into his cheekbone. The way Lee had him, Nate could only see out of his left eye which was not blocked by the rest of Lee's hand, before Nate could react to this Lee drags his middle finger over they eye and dogs it into his socket. Nate screams as the eyeball splits and hot blood flows from the wound.

Nate shoves Lee off of him and crawls to the gun as his left eye drips blood. The beast wouldn't let him as Nate is turned onto his back, Lee's looming form pins him down as he raises his fist high into the air and with all of the night he could muster slams it down onto Nate's face. Lee feels his whole body follow through with the blow, he feels his wrist crack, as do the bones upon Nate's face. Lee struck right between the eyes, a bloodied, skin-torn crater is what remains of the impacted area. Nate is finished, Lee, too is finished.

The man falls into a heap next to Nate, Clementine makes her way over to him, her eyes still glossy with tears. Lee reaches his hand up and grabs the tape, with his wrist being useless he can't pull without pain, "Pull your head away as fast as you can," Lee says, Clementine complies and the tape is removed, Lee's hand falls to his side. His head swims in dizziness but he can hardly feel the pain anymore, in fact, he was almost comfortable, almost at peace.

"Lee," she whispers, "I'm so sorry. I- I shouldn't have ran. And I didn't mean it, I don't hate you, Lee, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," she cries resting her head on his chest, "It's okay, Clem," he says.

"I knew you didn't mean it, Clem, so it's okay," he nods slowly, tiredly, his eyes have lost all light.

"And my parents, he showed me them, they really are dead. I'm sorry Lee, I was so stupid, I tried to find them and I went here instead," she scolds herself, Lee touches her cheek gently with his broken fingers, "Clem, I know, but listen to me, this place is going to burn down within the hour, and I'm going to need you to get out of here, you need to be safe."

Clementine's eyes widen as she grabs his hand with her tiny ones, "You're coming with me right?"

Lee closes his eyes tightly, he can't even feel it anymore, "I," he stops to breathe, "I can't, Clem. I can't even feel your hands anymore. You're going to have to do this on your own, I can't help you anymore. And I know I was always supposed to be here to protect you and watch over you, but I can't do that anymore," he stays, his vision clouds up as tears well in his eyes.

"I'm so stupid, you're dying because of me, and your arm..." Clementine cries wrapping her arms around Lee, her small body shakes, "You lost your arm because of me too."

"Hush, now, sweet pea, it's not your fault he shot me, I was too abrupt, and I lost my arm because I wasn't focused enough, none of this is your fault," he says with a smile, "Hey, look into my left pocket, okay?"

Clementine rubs her eyes with her forearm and reaches into his pocket and pulls out her hat, folded and still bloodied, she holds it to her chest as fresh tears flow from her face, "Lee..."

"All I would have needed was you, Lee. How am I supposed to do this all on my now?" she cries holding the had tightly.

"You're strong, Clem, you'll be even stronger than me one day. And you're smart, too, okay. You're smarter than most of my students were," he chuckles dryly and coughs, he feels a spike of pain is chest before he goes back to numbness, "Look, you're going to learn things and you're going to see things that I never wanted you to, but it's something you'll have to do, okay? Because you need to survive, you're going to need to experience the New World in my stead. I believe that too, this won't last forever, and when it's over, I want you to still be alive. You can do this, Clementine."

Her tears slow down, "What do I do now? I don't want to leave you but you're telling me I have to."

Lee looks to the entrance of the banquet hall, "There's an ice axe over there by the door, take that and cut open those walkers when you leave. This is gross but you need to trust me, you're going to have to cost yourself with their innards, it's the only way they won't sense you, and keep moving, trust me, they won't sense you. Do you remember where the train is?"

She nods and sniffs, "Yeah."

"Go there, Bud and Kenny are waiting for you, they'll take you to the boat and you can all leave, okay? This is it, isn't it?" Lee remarks looking into ceiling, he was dying now, he was almost gone.

"Okay, Lee, I'll do it, I promise you I'll live. I'll live for you, Lee," Clementine says, her eyes are filled with tears but her face expresses determination.

"Clementine, I learned something in this world over the past few months," he says as he eyes the flames, "It's so ugly, and awful," Lee says and then he looks into his savior's eyes, "But you taught me that it was still so beautiful, thank you, Clementine." he places his hand on her cheek once more as he rubs the tear from her eye, "I love you, Clem, if I ever had a daughter I would've wanted her to be just like you," he says as his hand begins to fall slowly from her face.

She knows she has to be strong, Clementine grabs Lee's hand and holds it at chest level to her, "Thank you Lee, I love you too, you were a great dad, even though you weren't really my dad," she says to him.

Lee smiles and closes his eyes finally. It was over for him, and as he left this world they lived in, Clementine knew it had only just begun for her

AN: Hey guys, it's finally over isn't it? I hope you all enjoyed reading this as I did writing it. If you're interested in seeing this as a movie play the song Remember Me by Anadel as a sort of credit song for this story. Also I want to thank you all as well, I truly never would have imagined that I would have gotten this far if it wasn't for you guys. Honestly what this story has gotten all of the support views and favorites is absolutely insane, you guys mean this world to me and it's thanks to you all that I can constantly carry on and write this story. There is one thing I would like you guys to do, though, I would like all of you to write one review for this story, telling me your final thoughts on it, a full review of this entire story. But aside from that, I only have to upload the epilogue and the bonus chapter now, so that's coming up real soon. So anyway guys, thank you all, I love you all, and I'll see you in the next story.
